It stands to reason that if he is opening portals at random to alternate dimensions, he is going to eventually find one overun by, say, The Battalion. Or a bigger threat.
It also stands to reason that of the infinite parallel dimensions, there is another one where someone like Recluse is looking to colonize alternate dimensions. -
Quote:I think Bio Armor is one of the coolest looking sets ever, and has about as much in common with poo as Super Strength. Also, the "but still" is for this:
Yes, I can turn off the effects of the "drunkenly fell into a pile of poo." That's all well and good, because the other powers in the set still show up and are color tintable.
I can also leave the poo coat on, and change its colors. Which I did, in the costume creator on Beta, for the better part of an hour. Still looks like poo. Poo from gorging on Fruit Loops for three days.
If people are awesomely fine with the Guyver/Prototype thing, that's cool and I hope you'll enjoy it. I just don't like the FX on those two particular powers, just like the original Granite Armor looked like poo. Poo is bad. I'll just go minimal FX on it, I just wish I DIDN'T HAVE TO. -
Quote:Yea, I read the guide when my Ill/Rad was about mid-30's. Was very informative. This is exactly my position on whether to use Choking Cloud . . . it is the advice I give in my Ill/Rad guide (link below). I also prefer to play from range. I tried Choking Cloud on my Ill/Rad at one time, and found it to be mostly useless.
Choking Cloud's odd way of working makes it less ideal for an Ill/Rad. It needs 5-6 slots to function properly, and sucks down a huge amount of endurance. All that for a part-time erratic AoE hold that takes a while to take effect.
Choking Cloud isn't enough by itself . . . it needs some kind of secondary control, preferably something continual. Fire/Rads have Hot Feet (with Slow and Afraid and damage), Elec/Rad has Static Field and Conductive Aura (to drain endurance), and Ice/Rad has Arctic Air (Slow, Afraid and Confuse). You could combine CC and Spectral Terror, but Spooky alone does the job of control without Choking Cloud's slot and endurance cost. The only reason to use CC is to set up Containment, and I don't think CC is worth the endurance cost and cost of 5-6 slots for a fairly small benefit since you don't have any AoE damage until APP levels. Before that, Blind sets up Containment for your single target attacks, so you don't need CC.
I'm not a fan of set mules, and it is possible to get a perma-PA Illusion/Rad build without wasting the slots and endurance on Choking Cloud. I love it on my Fire/Rad and Elec/Rad, and I even have it on my Plant/Rad. -
Its always funny when people threaten to leave if what they want doesn't happen, because those are always people that you want to leave.

Triple Chainsaw Melee.
I asked really nicely, it must be happening. -

Quote:I wouldn't mind it if it didn't take almost an hour to complete. While it's not for everyone, I enjoy the Abandoned Sewer Trial as a different challenge from the norm. I also happen to be that one oddball that likes the infamous 30 Fir Bolg mission though I wish it was structured slightly different.
Although I guess that's nothing compared to the mole machine destroying mission at the end of one of the Black Scorpion arcs. Each machine takes like half an hour. -
Quote:Cottage Rule, hello?Depends on the set. Foot Stomp and Hand Clap, hello?
Still, let the player make the choice if the combo doesn't work. It took them 8 years to adapt a Martial Arts-ey Blaster secondary. I don't feel like waiting another 8 for Dual Blades, SS or StJ. Or Staff or Axe or whatever someone might want. Give us the sets and if they're lame on Blasters, so be it. At least we'd have the option, which we don't now.
.
They can't uproot the entire blaster secondary so it can be all melee. And they won't introduce all melee sets for blasters because that would go against their i24 goal, which is sustainable damage. It would also be silly.
However, they could introduce a blaster secondary with Super Strength, Staff, or Axe powers in it... eventually. I wouldn't hold my breath though, as the blaster secondary is only used by blasters. We'll see a lot more melee, armor, support, blast, and even control sets before we see more Assault and Combat sets. -
What about a Chainsaw pack? We could have high tech chainsaws chainsaw guns, bloody chainsaws, more bloody chainsaws, double and triple chainsaws, rusty chainsaws.....

In the Coffee Talk Zwil was using a hacked character so he could demonstrate both powersets at the same time. This had the effect of Reach for the Limit being on when he tested Martial Assault, which has a snipe. It seemed to proc regularly enough and last long enough that even with the pauses to talk, the snipe was always ready for a quick snipe (it had the orange circle).
So long as you have a +tohit enhancement in Reach For The Limit, which you can do because it costs no endurance, you can't enhance damage buff, and it doesn't recharge, then you should be able to fast snipe consistently. -
Quote:Because if they had only melee for secondaries they would be even more fragile and the devs would have no way to tweak them and make them less so. Their current melee+support makes a lot more sense.True story: I once watched a video of jack giving a closed doors presentation of a pre-release CoH at some event. ATs in some form were in at that point, because IIRC he listed them all off. He made a Blaster and was showing off some of the possible sets, and SS was one of the secondaries.
I've always wondered why they didn't just let Blasters have the melee sets as secondaries because the stuff like the ST immobs they did put in Blaster secondaries were always so underwhelming to me.
BTW, if anybody knows where to find that video again, I'd love the URL. It's not one of the 'old CoH' videos that usually makes the rounds on the forums and it's been years since I've seen it.

Perhaps Reach for the Limit should be swapped with Burst of Speed or Dragon Tail, for the sake of getting your sustainability power early on.

I don't think so, the mitigation seems to be for the entire duration, as Arbiter Hawk said that it provided more mitigation than a normal knockback power due to it keeping them idle longer.
-
Knife Melee would be cool, but there are a few that need to come before (in order of importance):
Triple Chainsaw Melee
Chainsaw Melee
Psychic Melee
Radiation Melee
When those are done, THEN they can work on Knife Melee. -
Quote:I like Ki Push as is. The longer it is the more mitigation you get.Burst of Speed looks like the kind of power I've been dreaming of for quite a while. Ki Push is interesting, though the repel seems a bit long. (I'd probably prefer a 1 second Repel and a higher mag knockback.) Inner Will appears quite handy. Overall, the Blaster set looks more interesting to me than the Dom set. I could really see Burst of Speed meshing well with some Dom primaries; it's a shame they won't get it.

I personally don't use Choking Cloud. I tend to fight at range and it drains a lot of end.
I have Superior Invisibility six slotted, 5 red fortune and a gambler proc.
I use both Flash and EMP. EMP has that pesky recovery killing and a longer recharge. So I use Flash for most crowds and EMP as an emergency. -
I don't think I have anyone at all with hair. Everyone has a hood/helmet/bald/robot/monster/hat/something.
-
I actually switched to Responsibility accidentally somehow. I had meant to do Power all the way through.

Quote:I recall Reese living and trying to redeem himself.Mmmm no. Since Reese' ultimate fate is in a mission and not a moral choice, and Transmuter doesn't really try to imply things ended up any other way, I'd say it's safe to assume we will not see Reese again.
Maybe I'm crazy. -
Also Psychic Melee, though it hasn't been confirmed officially.

Could you, say, Burst three times in the same spot rapidly? For maximum AoE carnage.
