So, any recomendations regarding how to get the most out of it, (both Regen and Recovery) with the least investment of slots? And not including the Healing Uniques, or the Performance Shifter Proc - those are best put in Health and Stamina, respectivly, if I can get either.

    Thanks
You should have your other regen uniques slotted elsewhere by now anyway, so I'd leave those out of PP. Since the Performance shifter proc is not unique, I would definetly put one of those in the default slot. From there it just depends.

You could add 2 more slots with a Numina's Heal and a Numina Heal/End or Heal/Rech. That enhances the regen from the power and gets you the 12% regen set bonus. I think that gets the most out of the power with the least slots.

Adding another Numina will get you the 1.88% HP bonus as well as adding to the regen enhancement. If you wanted to add the last 2 slots, I'd add Performance Shifter End Mod first (after the +End proc already mentioned), then End Mod/Rech or End Mod/Acc. to get another 1.88% HP.

Decisions decisions.
From my experience on Shield scrapper, I'd recommend the more defensive build earlier.
  3. The game uses whatever defense is higher. Say an incoming attack is ranged and lethal. Whichever defense you have that is higher will count. So if you have 45% ranged defense and 30% lethal defense, the ranged will count. Make sense?

Now what is better is usually determained by what secondary you have. Shields for example has powers that increase your positional defenses, so it is generally easier to get set bonuses with positional defense to reach the soft cap. Willpower on the otherhand grants some typed defense powers, so its generally easier to softcap types.

Dont waste money trying to get high levels of both typed and positional, try and reach the soft cap with either or.

As for dedicated flying, I would think Ranged and AOE would be good enough for positional defense in most situations. If going for typed though, you would probably need all 3 (6) types to be safe (S/L, Energy/Negative and Fire/Cold)

Edit: Bah, Umbral beat me to it ... don't you ever sleep man??
  4. Yay us! Can get it at www.cohtitan.com

I did notice 1 small mistake. Shield Defense, Phalanx Fighting is not properly displaying Ranged defense when set to zero allies. I fixed mine by going into -

Options - Advanced - Database Editor - Main database editor - Scrapper Defense - Shield Defense - double click Phalanx Fighting - Effects tab - double click 3.75% Defense(Ranged) - Affects set to NONE. OK - OK - Save and Close.

    Mid's Help

If I understand you right, you just want to remove the power pick, right? If thats right, just click it off in the same place you clicked it to choose the power. It should be green while the power is picked, and will turn yellow again when you click it off.

I agree here. I run 2 Fire scrappers that both use that chain. I'm excited to test the one I am building now with that chain, against a Pylon. I've really been able to keep a focus on offense while soft capping defense with this build. He is currently 45 though so it will still be a couple weeks. I'm expecting to see some pretty high DPS.

I've flipped them in the past for a 500 million mark up. But its a little nerve racking ... thats alot of investment if drop rates were to change. But the prices have been running like this for a while now.

Really, if you just start making your own builds, then post them for advice, you'll learn this all for yourself. You will become more confident in your own builds (taking into consideration your own play style) than what you may find floating around these boards. Believe it or not, Werner's or Umbral's builds are probably not going to fit exactly what you want.

Not to say they (or anyone else) won't have slotting ideas that you never thought of, or wont be helpful, but it really is best to make your own and ask for advice if you are not real sure about something. Just think, you may just come up with something nobody else has thought of.
  9. Yeah, I'm thinking this would be a nice boost on my Fire/Shield. Figuring out what to drop though ... Its coming down to taking 2 out of Grant Cover, Tactics and Physical Perfection.

I only have the original slot in GC. I originally had it slotted for end redux. But after reading this thread, I think I'd get better miles out of that slot with an Enzyme (if they work) or a Cyto.
  11. So, do Enzymes increase the debuff resistance in Grant Cover? Not to be too greedy, but the endurance redux from Enzymes would go better in GC than the recharge from Membranes.
  12. I really wish you the best of luck along with a big thank you.

And I'm eagerly awaiting my sons return from Iraq in October.
  13. I've had the exact same problem the last couple weeks, but this is on Pinnacle.
  14. I think people tend to somewhat discount /willpower as an AV solo specialist. Maybe because most builds don't softcap defenses it seems that it might not perform as well. But I have to say, DM/WP is a scary AV soloer. I'd like to see more people try it so they know what I'm talking about.

Built for defense, you can get to 38 - 42% to all types, without gimping the rest of the build. With the to hit debuff from Rise to the Challenge, and most of DM's attacks, you are virtually softcapped. Add in the regen (mine is at 728% with 1 foe in range) and resistance (51% smashing/lethal), and it is really hard to take down.

Give it a try, you wont be sorry.
  15. My Fire / WP solo's AV's with 32ish % types defenses. My DM / WP, built just for AV soloing has 39ish % typed defenses and hasnt really been challenged by an AV yet, but I've only fought 6 with him so far.

So I'd say aim for high 30's and you will be more than capable of soloing most AV's.

Holy crap, if the price cap went to 150M, I would make so much money on an actual black market.

    [/ QUOTE ]
    QFT

And I really do not understand how people cannot grasp this concept. Explained again ...

Lets look at a high end example that should get the point across.

    Gladiator's Armor +3 defense.

These have recently sold for 600 million to 1.2 billion on the market. If a price cap was put in place of say 150 million, literally thousands of people would put bids in at 150 million. At an apparent drop rate of 1 or so per day (that's a total guesstimate, but close enough for this) How many years would it take for a bid to fill?

Now lets say SuperDuperMan gets one to drop. Think he will list it on the market for 150 million? (That's pretty funny!) No, he will advertise through channels, forums, whatever, that he has one for sale for 2 billion. And remember the people willing to pay 1.2 billion? Well they will jump all over the chance to get one for 2 billion because the waiting list on the market is years long!

Now what has this precious price cap of 150 million done? It has made SuperDuperMan more money than he thought possible. It has also basically removed ANY chance you ever had to get it on the market for even 1 billion if you wanted to pay that much. The new price is now 2 billion.

It will work the same way for any of the really rare drops in the game. People willing to pay 250 million for a purple before the price cap will now likely pay what, 400, 500, 600 million, or more? because there will not be any for sale on the game market.

You WILL NOT have the option to outbid someone to get what you want.

As it works now, if you want something from the market, you bid higher than anyone else, and you win the item. Simple. With a price cap, you simply put in a max bid and get on the waiting list with thousands of other bidders. As more Influence/Infamy enters the game world, more and more items will reach the cap and the waiting lists will grow and grow ... I hope you get your item within the next year or 2.

Are you really sure you want a price cap?
  17. I'll throw in my 2 cents here.

As for needing Aid Self, you will want it with Shield, you wont need it with WP.

I have 2 level 50 WP's that both solo AV's with no problems. My Fire/WP was built more as an all around type character. He has around 30ish percent defense to all types. Even though not built for AV soloing, I am 6 for 6 with him.

I also have a DM/WP that is built for AV soloing. Defenses at 39 percent. I've only recently finished his build but I've fought 5 AV's and they were very easy, if not a bit boring. Neither has Aid self and have never wished I had it. (Though the DM obviously has Siphon Life which is better IMO).

I dont have a /Shield character yet, so cant comment from experience, but I think you would have similar results from either one, but they will play drastically different I believe.

    Extreme Flippage

I was feeling kind of Ebil when someone mentioned they put up a Gladiators Armor +3 Defense at WW for 700 million, So I Bought it. Relisted for 1.2 billion and 2 days later it SOLD! So after fees I cleared 380 million on that single transaction.

I was a bit nervous hoping some new patch would not make pvp recipes rain from the sky, but I have been crapping / flipping some purple recipes so I just figured this was no different, just bigger

This may be the biggest single sale to date? Probably the biggest profit from any flip too. I almost feel a little dirty after that, lol.
  19. [ QUOTE ]
You could replace the defense IO in Weave with a +3 Enzyme. Actually, I'd do that anyway since it's better defense, not worse.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Werner, I just wanted to touch on this point real quick. I'm pretty sure mids does not display the Enzyme correctly. The defense on it if for defense debuffs, not defense buffs. Check it out and let me know if I'm correct or if I have been missing out on some awesomeness all this time
  20. What are you going to do with this character? General all around character?, farmer? Team specialist? AV soloer? What you plan to do will make a big difference in the advice you get.
  21. Machine_Man_X

    DM/WP or DM/SR

Both are awesome and I would agree that /SR would be the cheaper route to a higher end build.
  22. I took Quick Recovery, Stamina and Dark Consumption on my DM/WP and do not regret it. You may be able to "get by" without one of them, but I think you'll have to slow down from time to time waiting on Endurance. I really don't like doing that.
  23. [ QUOTE ]

Your defenses are nice of course, but it seems like your lacking a good attack chain.
Your accuracy seems a bit low and you don't even have enough recharge to run the SP-Smite-MG-SP-Smite-SL chain.
The use of Shadow Maul and Boxing are going to actually hurt your overall DPS.
I'm guessing you use SP-S-SP-MG-SP-S-SP-SL chain?

    [/ QUOTE ]

I only used Shadow maul leveling up, and left it on respec because of the set bonus, same with boxing, just for the set bonus.

This build has plenty of recharge to run SP - Smite - SL - SP - Smite - MG. I don't recall the exact totals needed but the highest requirement was MG at about 120 ish? %. I was running that chain with no gaps before I even had the purple set, so no worries. Maybe Werner or another numbers guy could chime in with the with the actual numbers needed to ease your worries.

As for the accuracy, it works just fine for me. If you want more, you could make a few changes and keep the same basic build. You even have a free slot to play with
  24. Machine_Man_X

    Scrapper Vote

Willpower ... just cause its my favorite.
  25. A couple things I noticed ...

Your smashing/lethal defense is a little low. I'd really try and get that up over 30%. I personally like to have all my typed defenses somewhat equal so I don't have a weak spot.

Your accuracy is really high. Is that intentional or a by product of the purples? You don't actually need that much accuracy. Also you have extra recharge in some of your attacks that you don't need, assuming you are planning on running SP - Smite - SL - SP - Smite - MG chain.

I agree you do not need hasten. You give up too much survivability just to run a slightly better attack chain.

I don't particularly like the purple set in Soul Drain. You like to have minions around to fuel RttC and Soul Drain. With the damage you have slotted in Soul Drain, they wont be around long.

Here is my AV killer build. There is even an extra blank slot in Tough that I had originally planned for the PvP +3 def. IO, but I have since changed my mind on it, and have not decided what to do with the slot. I have not run into any unbeatable AV's with this build yet (no temps or insp.) though I've really just begun my AV killing spree.
