While true, I think it's better to have as much recharge as you can because when you summon them under a mob you get a big mass of them all at once, and you get a chance of a vine for each living dude in the mob.
If you are waiting for them to catch up, they don't spawn all at once and you end up with fewer vines because the mob is dying while the vines are summoning, if that makes any sense.

Actually what it probably is is that since the patch follows you when it is not making vines and dealing damage, and is presumably centered on you, when you already have it up and attack a mob, you only get the possibility of vines for the closest enemies to you. If you start fights by immediately running into melee this is probably less of a problem. In any case yeah perma creepers is great but even though they expire when you recast them, there's a benefit to adding more recharge so you can summon a new batch under each spawn (or every other spawn, or every 3rd spawn, or w/e).

I believe the reasoning behind Positron's Blast and Impeded Swiftness over the other procs is that enemies take AoE damage and are subjected to a slow effect just for standing in the patch, whereas the other procs (immobilize, knockdown) are tied to the attacks of the individual vines, so they go off much less frequently.
I would imagine Javelin's volley is less used because it's expensive and you'd rather slot for acc/dam/recharge after you get the two cheap procs into it.

I heard the reason for HOs over IOs was that IOs from a set won't enhance all of the creepers' attacks... for example if you use a Mako's Bite and a Crushing Impact acc/dam, you'll enhance the melee smash of the vines, but not the ranged thorn burst... whereas the Hami-Os will enhance all the powers that the vines have available to them.
  2. I will continue to argue for Intuition Radial since it provides damage (good), hold duration (also good), and range.

Range is under-appreciated for Dominators IMO because it lets you do things like shoot your AoEs Immob from out of the range of most enemies which lets you kite an entire mob. If you play Gravity like I do and are spamming Crushing Field a lot anyway (because you've put 3-4 damage procs into it) this can probably add a fair bit of control.

You should still be fine in that case, since as far as I know when you list something for sale on the market, it'll sell for the highest amount possible, even if you listed it for less than that. I sell pretty much everything for 1 inf these days because it's so much faster.

If you are so bad at the game that you are having problems managing your inventory, you are probably not good enough at it to actually benefit from any improvement.

Oh and "ten seconds every ten minutes" is nothing, even if you did, as you imply, have to drop everything else you're doing to handle the HORRIBLE MONSTER that is your inventory.
And it does not add up "quickly." It adds up at the rate of 10 sec of "lost time" every 10 minutes.

Here I'll make your life even easier - you know that you can activate powers with your keyboard, right? Leaving your mouse to sloooooooooowly (I assume) move over to the salvage window, right click, and hit 'delete stack'.

    Loot Filter?

IIRC drop rates on trials are way lower than in normal content... its totally anecdotal but I am pretty sure I fill up way faster on tips than on trials.

Then don't do it in a critical time during a trial (i.e., 90+% of the time). Or sell your stuff while the trial is queuing. You know, that time when you're waiting around in RWZ or pocket D, where there are stores?

Incidentally I think the idea that taking under five seconds to delete a stack of common salvage or a bunch of trash recipes is going to seriously threaten a trial is, at best, pretty strong optimism about your own impact unless you are the only person on lichen duty on the Underground.

    Loot Filter?

    How lazy ARE you people?

There are stores everywhere, deleting the nearly worthless stuff takes seconds, and there are so many travel powers that you can pop to a store and back in under a minute.

You already get things directly added to your inventory automatically and that isn't convenient enough?

  11. I wouldn't call Gravity "significantly altered."

    They fixed Wormhole. Mostly.
    That's about it.

This is a hilarious strawman and you should be ashamed for actually thinking it's worth writing. "Caring about immersion means you are telling everyone else what to do" is so absurd I would expect a four-year-old to call you out on it.

If you don't understand why letting other people buy their way through the game impacts immersion, you probably don't understand MMOs and why people prefer to roleplay in multiplayer games as opposed to single player ones.
  13. The game is really neither difficult nor complicated enough to warrant an AoE phase shifting power. All it can do is split up a larger mob into two, more manageable chunks, and there are two problems with this:

    1) If you find yourself doing that on a regular basis, just turn down the difficulty from x8 to x4. There you go, spawns are now halved by default and you complete missions faster.

    2) AoE immobilizes are already FANTASTIC at splitting up mobs. Hell, Gravity is already the best at splitting up mobs because you can go AoE Immobilize + Wormhole.

I suppose there are some cute tricks like dropping it under the blaster to save them from melee attacks, but, uh, AoE immobilize does a pretty good job of that, too.
Besides I get enough flak on teams for using the AoE immobilize so that the mobs don't group up as tightly as they possibly can (sigh)... I still think any fleeting tactical advantage that Dimension Shift is going to give you is going to be outweighed by the time it takes to explain what you just did + the time dealing with people who are angry at you for using it.
  14. I also have to wonder if Assault sets, being composed (almost?) exclusively of powers from other sets, are easier to design than other sets. Seems like for the most part you can slap together some powers from [foo] melee and [foo] blast, call it [foo] assault and call it a day.
  15. Machariel

    Dark Assault?

turns out i'm not that familiar with dark blast lol, my bad
  16. Machariel

    Dark Assault?

I don't think it'll get Dark Blast at level 1. Elec Assault gets Charged Bolts, Fiery Assault gets Flares... they don't get the really solid blasts until their 3rd or 4th power pick.
  17. I think another good question is "how often are you on a weak enough team that you need to get rid of a mob SO BADLY that you aren't allowed to attack it?"

    :S
  18. of course you can only target an aerial location if you're at the max range otherwise it will just target the will behind the target

It MIGHT be cool if you could bunch up targets behind the dimension shift, forming a wall of enemies that the enemies behind couldn't pass through, so that you could basically kite a mob...

... except that you get almost exactly the same functionality out of an AoE immob, and with wormhole, they are already bunched up for you.
  19. Let me sum up the effects of these changes for Dominators:

    >Wormhole is mostly fixed. Still suffers from long casting time.

    That is all.
Impact sucks, I very much doubt Propel will be worth using over your entire secondary, and Dimension Shift is still worthless. There is absolutely NO value in wormholing an entire spawn into dimension shift because hey all that means is that instead of missing half the spawn with your AoEs, you miss the entire spawn.

thx for the effort at least
  20. To be more constructive:

I think it's annoying that when you're collecting temp powers, you get a different clicky for each power you collect. It would be MUCH easier if they would stack in your "temp" inventory (so that you would have, say, Pacification Grenade: 3 Uses Remaining).
This is a minor issue when a bunch of people hand me temps on a Lambda, but very annoying on the Underground when there are a massive number of lichens to collect. Instead of constantly having to make room on your tray for lichens, you could have one button and set it to autofire when you actually get to the fight.

I understand and appreciate that the trial mechanics are set up so that each archetype has something they can contribute. However I think they've gone a little bit overboard with emphasizing taunting in general.
  21. I hate that there seem to be people in this game that balk at the slightest possibility of game content that's possible to fail.

I would contest this extremely hard because most powersets get a good AoE mez on a decent recharge, eliminating the need to cycle your ST hold on things.

  25. Seeds + Creepers go pretty far for managing aggro. Defense is nice, but not necessary. Also he has at least 10% from Weave + Link Minds

I am not a fan of of /psi as an APP on a permadom. Indomitable Will is just plain redundant with Domination, and the other powers you took provide only modest defensive boosts which won't really add up to much.

To answer your original question, the big benefit to Permadom is that it means your powers are always at double magnitude, so you always affect bosses and your mezzes always last 50% longer. Without Permadom, to engage a mob with a boss in it, you would either drop seeds of confusion and then double-stack strangler on the boss to hold it, or drop vines and then strangler on the boss (a pain because vines doesn't last very long and takes a long time to recharge). With Domination up you can just throw out Seeds, Roots, and then go to town, and being able to do that for every mob is awesome. It also provides great mez and knockback protection and having that up all the time is sweet. Finally, you get the benefit of refilling your endurance bar every time it's up which is nice.
