Quote:It sounds like it might have been a better tactic to simply send out a single broadcast or request announcement in the zone, rather than trying to catch everyone with tells, then. That way, it hits everyone, whether the reps see them or not, or at least everyone who hasn't taken the channels off their chat windows. Then you are not the one I happened to see and sent a tell to. We are like everyone else in this game only human bound to make a mistake or not notice everyone randomly running around the D. I'm sorry that I did not notice you or your friend or send you both tells about the line up.

Glad to hear it. That way, we don't have to clear out Tips that may drop from Tricks as we're trying to get the Treat.

Actually, this could still be a good idea regardless of whether Back Alley Brawler was among the lay offs or not. If he's still around, it can be 'Tanks for the work you've done thus far' instead.
-
It's only the older styles that are available, one for Broad Sword, and one for Battle Axe.
-
It looks like that's it for voting, the TFs seem to be Super Sentai, then the Lazy Run, then That Guy. Now to pick out actual runs for the Sentai run (there are two good ones).
-
Well, set us up something! I'm going to be focusing on this for the next several weeks, since I'm going to run all three TFs. (this is just to determine the order) But like I've said before, just because this is something *I* do doesn't mean I'm the only one that's allowed. In fact, I really encourage other folks to try this, if only for folks that can't play during my extremely limited TF window.
-
Pretty sure that's how some folks got their costumes for the "Everyone Dress Like Mr. Subtle" run.

I've mentioned to a couple of you that I've got a stack of ideas for upcoming Themed Task Force runs. The problem is, I can't figure out which one I want to try first. So I decided I'm going to let you guys pick for me. I'm going to list out the three I've been working on, and you guys vote for the one you like best. When the votes start trickling down, I'll tally the votes and start the scheduling. At one point, I was just going to do this but only give out a one word clue as to what they may be, but then I realized that it's likely that it would cause people to vote for a theme they had no interest in, because they had the wrong guess for the hint.
That Guy with the Glasses Task Force: This site may be the end result of the internet. It's a collaboration of a group of people, doing what people have been doing since the internet was created, namely stating their opinion on random topics. Usually very loudly.
Of the three options, this is most likely the one that folks haven't heard of yet. However, this is also the one that offers the most individuality in the theme. There are several contributors to the site, many of which have a recognizable outfit or appearance, and quite a few of them have multiple original characters that can be drawn upon.
Power Rangers/Super Sentai Task Force: This one is the middle option between accessibility and individuality. If you haven't heard of either series, we have our own Sentai Sage who still posts who was one of the Sentai Force, an in-game Super Group based off the original series.
While this was originally going to be more based on the Super Group itself, I have since found out that their SG uniform was specific enough that everyone in it was from the same season. For those that don't know, these shows had different costumes for almost every season. Because I am looking for more of a multi-team crossover feel, when it's time to run this one, any costume, as long as it resembles the basic appearance will be welcome.
The Lazy Hero's Task Force: This one is easily the most accessible to anyone who plays this game. In the Character Creator, on the page where you actually customize the appearance of your character, the very first drop down menu is a list of pre-built costumes. Simply pick one, choose colors to your taste, and you're ready to join the Task Force.
-----
So, these are your options. Post which one you like most, and once I tally them all up, I'll run them in the order of which one got the most hits. -

here's the thing, though: I love the Rikti Raids. I even had fun at a recent Hami Raid now that I know they've found an alternative plan to "this is the point where everyone dies".
It's not raiding I don't like, it's the idea of planning taking the bulk of the play time. I swear we were sitting around for 45 minutes getting everything set up for what I'm now hearing would have been only a 15 minute team, had we not gotten the wrong AV. -
I've gone on only one run of the CoP, and I have to say that even if the reward was increased, I don't see myself running this trial again, ever. It doesn't even matter than we failed it. It doesn't matter if the reward would be worth it if we did get it done.
Raids like this are the very reason why I don't play the Titan of MMOs.
Taking the time to gather 24 players together, and balance them out to three teams all for a single spawn and an AV? And if we get the 'wrong' AV we start over? Stuff that noise. If I'm going to be ona team, I'd rather do something, anything, where the actual teaming takes longer than the planning stages. -
My personal hell: Escort Hostages on the PTS map. Actually, ANY mission on that map. I can't quite pin down why, but I hate HATE that one with a passion.
-
Well, as the end of the day draws close, I would have to say that this was probably one of the happiest in recent memory. Thank you all for your well wishes.

Quote:This one?I remember a gag line a few years ago where Wolverine was in Cyclops's office and was all like, "Dude, you can't put me on EVERY team!" and Cyclops was all like, "Why not?".

Quote:They can't do much worshiping if they're all dead.Because he want's loyal subjects to fawn over him and create statutes of him and have posters that say "Our Guardian" on it. I would think a cursory tour of Praetoria would have made that obvious.
A good man would have stepped down once Hamidon is defeated. If his goal was simply to protect humanity, he can do that without running everything. In fact, like George Washington, he would have been celebrated for centuries had he done so.
No, he engineered his ascension to power and couldn't care less about the people so long as they worship him.
I do have to ask you something at this juncture, however: How much of what you have been saying is what you actually believe, and how much of it is 'in character'? -
If his end goes is the extinction of humanity, then why did he step in to stop Hamidon at all?

Quote:Here's the problem: Golden Girl mentions that the Wardens supposedly try to prevent the more extreme acts of the Crusaders. If that's they case they where were they when the city was threatened by nukes? At no time, in EITHER arc, did I see any Resistance member say "gosh, think this might be a bit much?"Wardog is one man, one the players can choose to stop him, you're the moral fulcrum there. The game demonstrates repeatedly that the Wardens work to keep a handle on the Crusaders, but the Crusaders (and the Destroyers and the Ghouls) are used directly by the Loyalists for propaganda purposes.
And if you're so disgusted, then I hope you're not absolving Cole of letting the Devouring Earth overrun Rome and of using the Devouring Earth to make examples of his enemies.
And for the last time, I have said that Tyrant is evil. However, it does no one any good to try to stop him if the Resistance comes through and kills everyone before we have the chance to defeat Cole. -
Quote:You missed the "within the confines of teh law" part, didn't you?Well, we do it without that whole mass-murder-slavery-torture-thought-police-drugged-citizens-disappearances thing, so it's not quite the same.
A) Tyrant's end goal is preserving the life of the citizens. As long as they are still alive, there is the possibility to break Cole's hold over their souls.
B) Even if that was his goal, it looks like Tyrant wouldn't even get the chance to kill everyone if EvilGeko gets to them first. -
In character or out, the idea of killing an entire city disgusts me.
-
Quote:Crusader act amount to murder because of impatience. Right now, in the real world, my hands are trembling in anger at the very idea of causing suffering and death simply because you can't have your way RIGHT NOW. It is the VERY DEFINITION OF EVIL.I ask again.
If the Resistance is not acceptable to you morally, then are you saying that Cole should simply be left in power? That with all the evil of his regime, it's preferable to a war to shake Cole from power?
I don't understand your reticence. Do you believe that there is a boy scout way to defeat Cole? I mean, sure, I suspect that's the plot of Issue 20, where our heroes, now powered up into Incarnates DO just beat Cole up and save the day without excessive bloodshed. But right now, what other options are there, given what information is available to the people of Praetoria?
(Because, I would note, that out of character, the smartest thing to do at the end of the Praetoria arcs is ask Statesman and his folks to just go in and beat Cole up. Perhaps bring a few hundred Primal heroes with them. But looking at the story chronologically, that option isn't available at level 5 or level 15 where all you know is what your own world is about.)
And even though I've said this several times, I'm going to try once more.
NOT KILLING PEOPLE NOW DOES NOT MEAN, AND HAS NEVER MEANT, THAT THERE WILL BE NO FIGHTING EVER.
What it means is that when Cole is toppled, there will actually be people alive to enjoy freedom. Your 'character' has given me no indication that he will ever stop killing. -
Some of the Crusaders may stop once they've wiped out the city, but you yourself have said that you will not stop killing people as long as Cole remains in power. Since wiping out the city will not shake his power base in any way the only possible resolution is that you will continue ki9lling until there is no one left.
-
Quote:Which has left me in a position where I can't actually come up with a Warden character at all. I can't think of a character that is moral enough to try to fight Tyrant, and yet immoral enough to continue to work with the group so closely associated with the Crusaders. This, also, is considering the Crusaders only by their actions. It gets worse when you actually talk to them. Any ethical person speaking to the likes of Hatchet or Crow for five minutes should realize you don't even want to know these people, must less join a revolution with them.
-
Quote:Well, you're right about one thing. After reading your posts, I can't look at Crusaders as Terrorists, anymore. No, they're nothing more or less then murderers. You're not fighting for a future in which the people can live free, you're guaranteeing that they NEVER WILL.Agreed. But that's always been my point. You can't look at the Crusaders and scream "Evil Terrorist" unless you're ignoring that the Crusaders are in an armed insurrection. War changes the rules about what it a legitimate target. There is no Geneva Convention here. No "rules of war." And Cole wouldn't follow them anyway.
Quote:The Responsibility Loyalist are evil for all the reasons Cole is. They have no right to set themselves up as the nannies to the people. They have no right to choose to for everyone else (to turn that silly argument around) that Cole gets to lead everyone else. Had a government chosen by a free and fair election brought Cole to power (and returned him to power at regular intervals), the perhaps that argument would have force. -
Quote:Well, I'll agree with you on one point. The Crusaders are not "as bad as Cole". They are much, much worse. It's a point that you do not seem to comprehend, but as long as humanity survives, the struggle can continue. I am not, nor have I ever said "give up entirely". What I am saying is that as long as the people live, there is a chance for freedom, and the Crusaders want to take that chance away. They're not calling for "Freedom or death", but just Death. It's the same choice the U.S. imposed on Japan at the end of WWII. You will surrender or there will be no you.
If Cole demands his empire then there will be no empire. Freedom or death. There's no middle ground. There's no, "you're just as bad as Cole." That's the oppressor's BS. The Crusaders will not live under Cole nor suffer to allow his evil empire to exist. I admire their courage and have no patience for the idea that living as drugged sheep is preferable.
If you continue the struggle, Freedom will come. As players we even know when and where the Freedom will come from: The Heroes of Paragon City. But those Heroes will not be able to do much good tomorrow, if the Crusaders have killed everyone today.
