To summarise:
- They are meant to be a hindrance
- Killing them with just one AOE wold be to easy.
- Killing them as if they were minions feels wrong, pedestrians should not have equal hp then those trained longbow trying to stop us.
- Killing pedestrians on the Rogue Islands would be bad for the meager economy and much more likely to lose whatever legitimacy LR has. This would make LR probably quite unhappy. Therefore it is not encouraged to do so. Indiscriminately killing pedestrians would probably result in an untimely death of the killer.

So what you're saying is that they were put there purely to be annoying. I'd have thought they'd have more sense than that. [censored] customers off is the best way to get them to go to the opposition. There's enough frustration in this game with the constant nerfs, bugs and some very strange decisions without this sort of deliberate nonsense. -
Strange. I've not had any problems like that or noticed them from anybody that I've teamed with over the weekend. Doesn't help you I know but it's not a global problem
-
The ones that make me laugh are the hostages that turn around and head right back into the depths of the cave you've just rescued them from. Don't think a hell of a lot of effort was put into the AI for these mobs. Thaat's almost as bad as the pair of victims you rescue from a large group of villians, they always come up with an indentical comment, is the game made up of twins?

The reduction in activation times for most of the other attacks is very useful but a 20 second recharge on ignite means it can only be used once per fight, in any ordinary fight anyway. It's not useless by any means but it's nowhere near as useful as it used to be.
Just needs a slight change in tactics -

But if you can't solo Heracles on even con, then you are playing a team orientated character.
[/ QUOTE ]
Just the sort of character that could make the best use of the wedding band... -

I forgot it was DXP this weekend... then again, I've been busy with other things.

You can console yourself with the thought that the rest of us have outlevelled a lot of the content that we are always screaming at the devs to provide -
[ QUOTE ]
I'd bug it in game, personally. Nothing will happen saying it here.
[/ QUOTE ]
I did, but this is the suggestons forum, I made a suggestion about the messages -
Seems that you no longer receive the band if you have 'outlevelled' the final mission. Unfortunately it seems that the level for the band is set lower than the level at which you stop getting exp from the mission. Not sure if it's a bug or by design. Either way, if Stephie says she's given you the band, you should have it. That's what the suggestion was about - changing the message so it actually reflects what's happened.
-
Since the level range for actually receiving the band on arc completion seems to have been lowered to a level where you can hardly defeat Heracles solo, maybe the message from Stephanie should be changed.
I received exp for every mob in that final mission but it seems I was considered to have outlevelled it. Sorry but receiving exp means I haven't outlevelled something, in my book anyway.
If you're going to make changes like this, at least do the whole thing rather than just the easy bit - change the messages to suit as well. Instead of Stephie saying she's lent us an item, it would make sense to say something like "I would have loaned you my ring but I see you have no further use for it".
Frankly this was, in my opinion, yet another unnecessary and completely pointless change. I just don't understand the direction this game is going in. We have tangible rewards for mission arc completions taken away while receiving other rewards for being logged out!
-
Never noticed that but the updater does open what looks very much like a browser window to display its advert. Could that be it? Your browser automatically shooting off to google? If not, dunno

First task force I ever did was with my one week old defender. Got invited to a team and ended up doing The Cavern of Transcendence trial. Didn't have a clue what I was doing. Somehow we scraped through, just as well someone knew what was going on. It was a whole new world of tight time limits and defeats for me, was fun though. On the next one I saw a council soldier turn into a flamin great wolf for the first time, nearly jumped out of my skin.
I think we get a bit jaded after a few years but looking back, it was an exciting first year when everything was new. We tend to moan a bit but there really is a lot in this game.
To keep the post sort of on topic, Aerie joined us with her level 50 defender on the Cavern of Transcendence trial, must have needed the badge! First level 50 I'd ever spoken to in the game so there's my nomination for a Defiant legend -

Every little helps

I suppose so but popping a single (tiny) inspiration gives you nearly ten times the increase. While a few minions might notice the effect, it's not going to leave Lord Recluse quaking in his boots. -

How about night time in Talos Island, south area... Good place for the Bantheon bosses (defeat x amount badge) there too.

I use the cemetary in Dark Astoria for the Pantheon bosses. Always plenty of them around. -

I don't want to pick a fight with baby New Year. You seen that kid? That's one seriously muscular baby. Be like picking a fight with the unholy little death machine from the end of The Incredibles.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yeah, just think of where he'd be hitting you before picking on him -

CoH's updater works on a series of different ports. I nominates a new one each time you start it. SOME of these ports are often incorrectly identified by some ISP's as being used for bittorrents, and get throttled. If you have a slow connection, you can usually resolve it by closing the updater and restarting. Any download you had going should resume.
It MAY take a few restarts to get an unthrottled port.
[/ QUOTE ]
As far as I'm aware Demon doesn't throttle or block any port unless you've hit their poorly documented monthly rolling download limit - they then chop you down to virtual dial-up speed without even bothering to let you know. I was with them for well over a decade but a few months ago I decided to move on, having decided that their service had detriorated to a point where I wasn't happy to hand them my cash every month.
Hate to sound negative but unless you're stuck with Demon for some reason I would give very serious consideration to at least looking into the services offered by other ISP's. Look around on the internet and see what other people think.
To answer your original question, my 80M download at about midday lasted just a few minutes with ADSL24... -

teleporting around buildings is kinda silly
[/ QUOTE ]
It's handy to be able to see where you're teleporting to though. Materialising inside a solid concrete wall because you misjudged the width of the building in front of you could prove a bit awkward. -
Well lets hope that somewhere in this 80 odd Mb of latest patch there's a fix for this...
-
Yep. That bug's been around for longer than I can remember. We get a couple of new posts per week from people having problems due to that one. Based on the assumption that some people would look at past forum posts to see what's going on and even more wouldn't even bother to keep trying, you have to wonder how many people NC are really annoying with this one and possibly losing as customers before they've even logged in. I'd have thought this would have been a high priority bug fix but then what do I know?

I think that's a great idea. After you've been here for so long and seen and done virtually everything on the game, it's frustrating creating a new toon and plodding around like a three legged greyhound in treacle for 5 levels and a mission.
[/ QUOTE ]
I like fixing posts.

pfft picky. Those temp powers you can get from safeguard missions aren't the same thing at all. Imagine it now...look, Is it a tweety bird on its way home with a worm? Is it a speeding killing device on it's way to some poor sap? No it's just some jumped up twit wearing a backpack to make us all think he can fly like a hero. -

They are also nigh impossible to keep alive, cause the buff aura draws *ALOT* of aggro, and they have 10 hitpoints.
[/ QUOTE ]
rofl I guess the devs didn't want to give us something that might give vets an advantage over others. Still, 10 hp is laughable, makes it about as useful as a wet tissue. We'll still be able to use them as decoration around the Atlas statue I suppose... -
I've tried it a couple of times - has never worked for me but I'll try it again next time I get a garbled message...if just one gets through it'll be worthwhile - possibly... It's been a frustrating couple of weeks...
-
Ah, that's the problem. Saving and loading costumes is seriously bugged at the moment.
To quote Crazy Dragon "There's a workaround in Golden Angel's thread". You'll find it in the Technical Issues and Bugs part of the forum. -
lol looked like fun. Always said that nuking them from orbit was the only way to be sure ;P
-
On the other hand, they don't have to give us anything...
