After hitting 50 with my trick arrow/archery defender I've mostly been using her lately for the odd arena match in the supergroup or a bit of strolling through Siren's Call, but as is presumable I've been whalloped and splattered many times. So lately I've been wondering: Can a Trick Archer be a viable PvP character?
Now I know diddly poop about PvP myself, but I've got plenty of knowledge of trick archery. I can guess powers like Ice arrow would be a necessity, but that's about it.
What do people think, can a Trick Archer make it as a PvPer? And if so, what'd be needed to survive?
All thoughts, ideas, and builds are of course welcome. -
Agreed with Carnifax, Acid arrow and EMP arrow are both too good sticks to pass up, get 'em when they become avaliable.
I'd also avoid Total focus at 49 and just take the mez then personally, if you've built yourself right you'll be too busy shooting off arrows (and in your case healling the odd teammate) to be hitting stuff hard, but that's me personally.
Frankly I'd get rid of Explosive arrow as well: it knocks everything around so much it can become very tricky to both use it and to keep stuff in your patch of doom.
Plus Poison Gas arrow is a good investment to make, not necessary but definitly worth considering (and probably more useful than ranged arrow for a suggestion of what to axe)
As for flash over net, I go flash myself, a big AoE accuracy debuff seems a lot more useful than a single target immobolize. Though again, that's just me. -
Well, since I was an Inv tank which I heard was a little bad at aggro management, and I couldn't think what to take, I just took that.

What I'm after is a tanking tank, but not one I can just sit back with and watch the magic happen either, I need to slice people up at the same time!
So basically what I'm after is:
- One with a fairly wide attack chain
- One that can tank tank
So, if anyone can help me reach the build for me, please help me!
Also, I've got 2 vetspecs, so respeccing at 12 and 22 is quite simple if power rearranging would be good for achieving what I want.

Also, there's little point in take your other two shields that late, especially if you're only 1-slotting them. By that point you've got Eclipse as well as Dwarf Form and the shields don't get a great deal of use anyway unless you're a mostly human-form Warshade.

A lot depends on what you're planning form-wise. Tri-Form Warshades are a real ******* to slot, so you're best with going Dual-Form generally speaking. If you're going Dwarf-Nova, then you really need to fully slot the form powers to make the most of them, if you try and split between form and human powers you'll likely end up crippling yourself rather badly.

Actually thinking about it, if we have other people playing the Praetorian villain version of our heroes, then in a way it does improve the whole point of it, since as Hates said it has the added bonus of we can meet each other on the battlefield, plus it comes with the element that you're not playing your opposites in the extreme, if you catch my drift.
The whole Praetorian thing is not really a 'What would Statesman do if he decided to be his opposite' but rather 'What would Statesman do if he had gone down a different path at one point in his lifetime'. So if we try to play our own opposites it comes with the added penalty that we're viewing it out of our own views on our characters, and means that subconciously we could just try to oppose our characters as much as possible.
So perhaps it would be better (And much more interesting) if we see how other people would play our characters in opposites.
So, I think I'll have this team that if you fancy playing your own opposite, then you can (Though that comes with the penatly that they can't meet each other (Unless you make things tricky with two computers and two accounts) or, you can play the opposite of someone else that is willing to have their hero done as a Praetorian villain version, though you may want to consult them first if you don't know much about their character and to make sure we don't get four mirror versions of the same hero.
Personally, I'm happy to have someone make a mirror version of Longshot Lorrie if they want to. -

I like the idea Hatesman, there's just the problem you outlined, and the fact that some of us might like to play our own opposites
. Still, if we can figure out a way to make it work I'm sure it'd be fun.

So, I've come up with the idea to organise a weekly villains team in the theme of praetorian versions of our heroes!
For those of you that don't know, Praetorians are supervillains from Praetorian Earth that are basically the 'evil opposites' of the Freedom Phalanx, ranging from the opposite of Positron (Anti-matter) to the opposite of Statesman (Tyrant)
So, as you can work out, these villains would basically be the 'evil opposites' of whatever hero they're based off of. Be it a technologically charged villain instead of a hero that trained rigorously to reach their goals, or a mutant child who instead of saving the world, decided to destroy it instead. Powersets don't necassarily have to relate, but of course it helps if there's a good plot reason for their powers too, even if it's a little ambigous.
I'm currently thinking Wednesdays at 7:30 GMT, but this is open to changes based on how many people would like to show up, but can't for whatever reason.

My only problem at the mo is finding the slots to shove in mesmerize. I could take them out of dark embrace, but wouldn't that then be very late game?
Also, the soul mastery powers are there for kicks. Feel free to suggest better alternatives. -
