and the mac tp/cossie because if its free to them, what we having to pay for it for?

    [/ QUOTE ]

I don't know what the pricing is for the Mac special edition as yet, however I'd wait until after pricing is announced before making any assumptions about whether we're asking people to pay for something that others get 'free'. The special GvE Edition is priced higher than a standard game account, and the GvE add-on pack costs the difference for those who decide they want it. Similarly, the temporary jet pack costs the difference between a regular sub and the cost of the special prepaid card it comes with in the US.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well had it been described more clearly, you might have had less people mention it.

I don't know what bit you're not understanding but to get the maximum sized base and fill it with all the goodies takes an amazing amount of time and effort which is far too much imo.

    [/ QUOTE ]

The bit i was not understanding was what relevance the fact you aint put any time into a base had on the fact a lot of people have.

    [/ QUOTE ]

A lot of people were building towards an unobtainable goal without realizing. I didn't buy into it and maybe others would not buy into it as the goal was unachievable and even if achievable, costs too much in real life terms. The less people taking SGs seriously the harder it is to get as far as one could in making one. It's been worked out that in order to obtain X, Y and Z, you would pretty much have to live on the game and perhaps find yourself evicted from ones home at a later date as its no longer fit for cockroaches. Everything needs to be cheaper and easier to obtain.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I honestly dont know what you are on about, your just talking rubbish now.

Re the original post. It's not really surprising... Afterall.. The GM staff went from 17 people, down to 7... They just don't have the resources to investigate.

    [/ QUOTE ]

So what exactly are they here for then?

They had the resources to sit monitoring arena chat and pulling someone up for making a joke the other afternoon.

    [/ QUOTE ]

A GM actually wrote something in a chat channel? Pics, or it didn't happen

I don't fundamentally disagree wtih teh concept but there are issues.

If the SG leader doesn't log in for 2 weeks they are demoted and the next toon alphabetically is promoted.

99 times out of 100 this isn't an issue but imagine this scenario:

You get knocked off your exercise bike whilst at the health centre and spend 15 days in traction

Arnold P. Snarflepants who has been in your SG for a long time and has ALWAYS been a pain in the butt but never done anything to warrant booting, becomes leader

Arnold then exerts his new authority by kicking your main toon from the SG, borking the base, challenign every SG he can to a base raid (and losing badly so your stuff gets trashed) kicking every toon and hten leaving the SG

3 years hard work gone pop simply cuz you couldn't log in for 14 days.

I appreciate this is not the most likely scenario but it could happen and so I think I leave this /unsigned

    [/ QUOTE ]

How does that problem become worse with this suggestion?

Anyway, yes i think being able to promote/demote off line would be a good thing.

Thats about right for EU staff, had you been on a US server that would have been sorted for you within the hour.

Your lucky they didnt tell you to upgrade your drivers in French.

Or blame it on ya ISP.

And how it lessened the inconvenience dismantling everthing is going to cause people that need/want the prestige bonus, regardless of the size/content of their base.

And in my opinion, no a small prestige bonus per member dosent make up for these ill thought out base changes.
  8. Im happy with paying for add on's with 2 exceptions.

The pay as you go jet pack, and now this Mac freebie that they are going to sell the rest of us.

The jet pack because it's not a one of purchase, and the mac tp/cossie because if its free to them, what we having to pay for it for?

Being honest i dont see why Mac users should get free what we end up having to pay for later anyway.

    Give everyone it free.

There is talk that bases will auto-repair after raids in the future too, like the practice raids people have.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I dont think it matters what they do, non pvp sg's just aint gonna want to be raided for something that came from what is basically just a TF/SF.

I personally like this change. What was wrong was the way things were, more than are now. When people started getting into all this everyone can see that building up to the best possible enormous base wasn't achieve-able without looking for exploits and in trying it seemed to immorally aim to cost people too much in real terms.

I don't know whether you can sell and buy back in or over your own time or have to hit it within a window of opportunity.

Longterm, with what maybe the only solution this is better. Whether or not its in a place where someones SG can achieve "everything" I wouldn't know, but it's definitely better!

    [/ QUOTE ]

Didnt understand a word of that to be honest, could you explain that again.

Im just not seeing the "better" in having to waste untold boring hours recrafting everything just to get a refund on base items.

Not to mention the loss of all the salvage it took to craft those items.

Im also not seeing the "good" in changing the salvage from something that basically people are happy to drop off for the good of the base, because its not much good to them, for invention salvage which is worth slightly more (in its most common form)and of course is useful to them.
Thusly making it harder to get sg members to drop it off.

    [/ QUOTE ]

You've gone and done what I wouldn't of done. Spent untold boring hours doing something that took up time that could of been better used elsewhere. Some things require more than bite sized playing and cut into family life and social life a bit too much and building towards the biggest base possible does that. I wouldn't of bought into it. It's hours spent on something I couldn't hold, hours lost on something I can't keep and time for other people and self I couldn't get back. Getting to the biggest possible base needs to be far less time consuming.

If you've built a big base, then you should have a lot of people and so 20K per person should more than make up for troubles and create a further jump to the goals people want. I'd rather plug for that than complain.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Im still not understanding that, anyway dont worry.

It dosent matter what you would or wouldnt do, because obviously this remake of bases to get a prestige refund dosent effect you.

And no i havent spent untold boring hours doing anything, i quite enjoy base building, but i wouldnt appreciate doing it again just because these people cant run a script to refund prestige.

If you read what i said, you would see that i am saying that its unfair making people who HAVE put the effort into building a big, small, huge, whatever base, dismantle it.
  12. I think they want to forget about the CoP, it will be another epic fail, because non pvp sg's aint going to open themselves up to base pvp and a destroyed base anyway.

Or make the CoP just another strike force, god knows villains need some more strike forces.

They should just concentrate on fixing the bugged, borked hard work base editor if they want to do something that would be appreciated by base builders/users.

I'd just love to meet this army of people that want to buy wedding packs, extra slots and respecs from NC with a nicked credit card.

Cos i can see there is a huge profit to be made there.

    [/ QUOTE ]

It's not just booster packs for CoH we're talking about here. When we offer new payment methods we look to offer them across as many titles and as many products as possible. Fraud has been a big issue for us in the past (even leading to the complete removal of at least one payment option due to the costs associated), and it will continue to be a consideration in future.

However, let's not concentrate on fraud here ... as I said earlier, it is not the only consideration when it comes to offering alternative payment systems.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I think your companys threshold for what constitutes a big fraud problem must differ from most then.

Because if i can make several consecutive transactions totalling a few grand with any electrical e tailer, i for the life of me cant understand why i cant spend 8 quid 3 times with you, without getting a fraud suspicion warning.
  18. Forget attacking the nictus's, you want ALL attacks on him, not them.

And stand back unless you are a melee char, dont let the nictus's heal off you.

What server you on? If you are on Defiant give me a shout and do a run with us one night if you want the badge/costume/bit of xp.
  19. [ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]
Let me put it this way for you. If you want to give NC your money, they will go to great lengths to let you do so. Any limitations in payment options is squarely down to the banks. Remember, NC WANT your money.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Actually, I kinda disagree there. In their paranoia over possible fraud, they actually make it REALLY difficult to give them your money...

"here Bill, iv had this fantastic plan for them nicked credit cards we got"

    "whats that then Fred?"

"instead of buying electrical goods, booze and cigarettes that we can sell straight away, lets buy some extra slots for CoH!!!"

"TOP idea Fred, you da man!"
  20. All on the AV, if you aint a melee char stand back so the nictus cant heal off you, dont bother to attack the nictus's, when he dies run round corner (to stop you all being stunned), wait for him to rez then all back on him.

Repeat each time he is revived, every time he is revived a nictus dies.

If you are really struggling get some shivans.

That task force takes 1.5 hours if you get your finger out

I think it's a bit funny that ppl who don't have credit card or anything like it are totaly screwed... we can buy game-time card... but have no chance what-so-ever to get more slots, buy weding/cyborg/whatever packs... we can play the game and live with what NCSoft don't force players to pay extra for...
I really thought they had made it smart enough so ppl with game-time card would pay with some of that game-time instead... it really adds up to the same

Have you not got a family member or friend with a credit / debit card you could just give the cash to and borrow their card?
