I'm not sure, SuperOz. Was in FF and AP myself for the event.
Hours later when I logged in again, people were talking about various strange sightings, so I went on a screenshot hunt. In spite of spending over an hour trying to get good angles and timing on the green pillar, I've no idea what triggers it. -
Null the Gull is many kinds of amazing.
I think your insults upset Emperor Cole as much as him minions bickering, GG. He left quite the mess behind.
Besides abandoning a large number of his armed citizens all over in places like Grandville, Atlas Park 4 (reports of 6 copies of Neuron left behind so Tyrant must have been really annoyed), stuck in Founders' Fall rivers...
... plus loitering around the streets. Can you spot all sixteen Mobile Artillery?
Then there is the irregular green laser lingering in Mercy Island.
Close-up.
Portals litter the area by Blue Steel in Kings Row. No wonder the Paragon Police Department needs super-powered help when those things are camping their front door.
Like a sour cherry on a cake, one of those portals is parked atop the flagpole of City Hall in Altas Park 5.
Close-up.
Tsk. Not only is he a Tyrant, he's a messy houseguest, too. -
My favorite moment, and unedited screenshot, of the night (click on image for full size):
On Freedom there were Heroes, Vigilantes, and Rogues battling against the Praetorian Surge invasion AND a Rikti invasion at the same time in Founders Fall. Very, very fun!
A close second was fending off the Big Foot stuck in the ceiling of City Hall in Atlas Park 2.
A couple other fun shots came from the post-invasion party in Pocket D after finishing the mop-up below Atlas statue.
First, trying to get in...
Once in I snagged some glamour shots with NCsoft_Avatea and Soaring Hero, plus a sample of the big crowd as everyone waited (more or less) patiently for the Community Team to make their rounds. Thanks, Avatea, for the shiny title!
A big THANK YOU to all the red names and players who made this event such a fun and special occasion. Happy 7th Anniversary, City Of Heroes!
What were your favorite moments? -
Quote:Those were GREAT! The first literal 'laughed out loud' at something on the forums in a long while. Even a LGTF would be eagerly sought out (instead of the current eagerly avoided) with that quote fest to look forward to.A team I was on decided to liven up an LGTF by speaking only in movie quotes. To take it one step further, key words were placed by the word "Rikti."
Thank you for sharing!! -
Thank you for the re-confirmation, Starcloud!

Ah! I was focusing on the wrong comp part. Surprise, surprise.
I believe it is a Core 2 Duo 2.66 ghz, so the new card can expect to be good to go.
Thank you again! -
Thank you very, very much for the quick reply, je_saist!
The motherboard is, obviously, only a few years old. Still, to be on the safe side I didn't want to get a GPU too strong for it to handle.
Ended up picking out a GTX 480 and a new 750W PSU from Newegg. -
Hello, Tech Forum players extraordinaire!
Can anyone please suggest what the best GeForce graphics card will work with a ASUS LGA 775 motherboard?
The second gaming comp at home went downhill this week, and the owner has his heart set on getting another GeForce GPU. Thankfully so far it looks like it just needs a new graphics card. FYI, the box has a 600 Watt PSU.
All help would be enormously appreciated! Thank you!! -

Nice! Definitely want to experience that first-hand. Thank you for sharing such great screenshots of the event, Wondering_Fury. Please do post Part 2!
Quote:The Roleplaying Forums eagerly await your story. Please come right this way...I also had a storyline attached to it but one half has taken 1000words already, and I don't want my readers to go "oh lord" at the sight of so much reading. I will negotiate with myself the best way to put it on the forums.

Very nice! I think Jophiel said it best: "a nice balance between just goofy spoofing and some actual usable material."
It was fun spotting those I've already seen. I remember hanging out near the cute gray-and-pink number (from page 4's Cruel Summer photo) at the 7th Anniversary event party in Pocket D. Got a special screenshot of the outfit there because it worked so well.
And I am in awe of the SG base. Just, wow.
Thanks also for all the tailor tips, tricks, and patterns throughout. Back to the costume creator! -
But the real question, GG, is did you join in the dogpile on Azuria?
As a temporary Rogue during the event, there were downsides and upsides.
On the downside, I couldn't parade my "Positron's Ally" badge while Positron was there during the first hour, because it currently read "Positron's Betrayer". Kinda felt having that badge featured would be unwanted trouble.
On the upside, I had free in-character reign to play with anything and everything I could target. ;-> -
Happy 7th Anniversary, City Of Heroes!!!
It was a chaotic yet fantastic night for those who tried to participate on both the Test Server and the Paragon Studios UStream Chat.
Among all the announcements (Steampunk pack!), Broadcast chatter, UStream chatter, and PM chatter, there were two AV spawns made the night a little extra for me:
1) After the spawn was defeated, I speculated "[Broadcast] Dynexus: Huh, that's what we get for complaining about Mother Mayhem? A chance to knock her out? What happens if we say things about Azuria?"
Low and behold, Azuria was spawned. (Images linked because some screenshots are large.)

20110428R-1904b
She may have been a white-con, but she was tough! Still the players would not be thwarted their chance and managed to defeat her.
2) In the third-plus hour, Dr. Aeon was especially interested in keeping those in Pocket D scrambling after (and away from) enemy spawns. He even pulled out Public Enemy #1: Himself!
20110428R-2016b
What made this more super? He did it twice so I could get a screenshot! CoH has the best, and most interactive, Devs/Reps ever!
(And yes, those are Nemesis horses in the bottom left. They were also spawned to be "Oooh!" and "Awww!"ed over by player request.)
As Dr. Aeon himself put it:
"[Broadcast] Dr. Aeon: Dr. Aeon: Hardest GM in the game.
[Broadcast] Dr. Aeon: -Fact-"
Of course, it helped that he could generate an army of himself - who could generate further armies - which merrily rampaged.

20110428R-2007b
Not to mention Dr. Aeon spawning, among many other things, Lusca a couple times.
20110428R-1932b
20110428R-1934b
And simultaneous multiples of the Freedom Phalanx.
20110428R-1953b
Who also had a cage match against their red-side opposition.
20110428R-2001b
20110428R-2005b
Kudos to the players to kept the rest of us from being instant-KO at the resuscitation area.
20110428R-1951b
Once again, Happy 7th Anniversary!

Congratulations to the City Of Heroes team and all of us players that give them the reason to keep making our favorite game! -

Chalk up one more MLP:FIM fan who watched everything available this last week because of CoH.
Do I thank you? Do I glare at you? (No I don't have Fluttershy's Glare, but it seems worth learning.) Think I'll just shake my head and wonder, "How did that happen?"
I had skipped it because the character designs not the kind I usually enjoy. This thread got me from "Nah" to "Meh". Then a certain little fanpic was posted...
That was hilarious! It took me from "Meh" to "Eh??" That image stuck with me, tempting me to see the MLP show to know exactly who had been spoofed.
Glad I watched it, the picture is even funnier now that I know the characters from MLP as well as Teen Titans.
Oh, and the thread has me completely in agreement on the MLP are Superhero front, too.
Now if only there was an Animal Pack 2 booster with a rounded horse head. Still wouldn't really get halfway towards a custom pony since the cutie mark would be on the chest instead of the rump, I doubt there would be colorable manes/hair, and the limbs would be too long... Nevermind, wouldn't be able to get close enough on the CoH costume creator to make the imagination leap.
Say, Obscure Blade? About those MLP parodies? If you have more where that came from, I'd really enjoy seeing them. Especially any crossovers with CoH cannon. -
So the new comp has been happily up and working for a while. I must say, CoH looks PRETTY! Lots of "Oh, it THAT how it is supposed to look?" moments.
I was thinking about writing up a review for the CoH forums, but had a couple questions.
1) Would anyone want to read my thoughts on Sandy Bridge and SSD with CoH?
2) If so, would here in the Technical forums be the best place for it, or is in the Guide section more appropriate?
Thoughts and opinions would be very welcomed, please. -
This guide helped get the NCSoft Launcher customized with as little pain as possible on my new computer. Thank you, Hyperstrike.
-
Glad to hear you found one that has been working well, DeadlyTwilight! I should have thought to check the local Best Buy for a sale, too.
Next week I'll try to write up a quick review blurb when mine arrives. -
Quick follow-up...
After reading the customer reviews, it seemed likely that the CyberPower CP850AVRLCD would be in conflict with the Active PFC on my CORSAIR CMPSU-750HX PSU.
Because of the strong potential for conflict, I went ahead and ordered a CyberPower CP850PFCLCD instead. This is the same adaptive sine wave product line that Miuramir recommended in the other thread. -
Thank you very much for your guidance, Katie_V and Memphis_Bill!
So a 750VA (aka 450 Watts) UPS will not restrict the 750 Watt internal computer PSU from using its full potential? Good to know, I wouldn't have realized that on my own.
With your recommendations, it looks like the best matches are:
APC BE750G 750 VA 450 Watts
CyberPower CP850AVRLCD 850 VA 510 Watts
Both have silence options, thankfully! I'm still inclined towards the CyberPower. While it looks like it has conditioning, on the upside it has an extra year of warranty plus an attractive perk in the front usage display.
Any other input, suggestions, tips, and/or warnings before I order the CyberPower CP850AVRLCD? -
Well the parts for a DIY box are just about ready and I was gearing up to the assembly when I realized I'd forgotten one important part: a UPS.
Having invested a lot of research and thought into a new box, plus a chunk of cash, I really don't want a power outage to wear the parts out prematurely. And unfortunately power outages happen several times a year, locally.
Oh, sure, I have a surge protector, but that still means the computer gets a hard shutdown when the power gets cut off. I'd rather like to shut things down nice and neat. Plus give my CoH team proper warning.
I would like something that could run my computer for at least 5 minutes. I really don't desire fancy looks or display options. In fact, the less user interface required, the more appealing for me.
Unfortunately I couldn't find any reviews on Tech Report or bit-tech. Maybe I was using the wrong search terms or the wrong review websites.
So far I found the CyberPower CP1350AVRLCD, mostly because 1) at 810 Watts it will cover the 750 Watts PSU plus monitor very nicely, and 2) the overwhelming number of user ratings.
The price is a bit high. I'd rather spend under $100 on a UPS if there is a decent quality one for that price. Update: Looking through another recent thread, the linked recommendations for CyberPower adaptive sine wave system and Power Saving Back-UPS XS 1500 with AVR were way over $100. Does that mean that under $100 is pretty much throwing money away, and I need to be looking at $150-$200 before even considering a UPS might be worth its value?
What do I need to be most concerned with in an UPS? Product name? Battery time during a power failure? Any compatibility concerns to look out for? Energy ratings? All of the above and more?
Tips, suggestions, and recommendations - especially so if you have one that does your gaming PC proud - would be most welcome!! -
Obviously Father_Xmas and others can offer you better technical advice, so I'll forbear.
Whenever the ASUS P8P67 Pro (B3) motherboard finally gets back in stock I'll write about how well it runs with the i5-2500K chipset (and even more importantly, how they both run with City of Heroes). From all the reviews and articles I could get my hands on that seemed the sweet spot combo of Sandy Bridge. So I'm holding off until they are both available, even though like you I have no plans for SLi or overclocking. -
Learn something new every day! Thank you for correcting me on the RAM, Father_Xmas.
-
Heads-up: I'm pretty sure your memory choice is NOT compatible with all those Motherboards.
That G.SKILL 8GB DDR3 runs at 1600 speed.
That ASUS P8P67 LE does use 1600 speed, plus 1333 and 1066. The other three (2200, 2133, 1866) require overclocking of the base speeds.
That MSI 967A-C43 uses 1333 or 1066. The other two 2133 and 1600 are obtained by overclocking a 1333 or 1066 speed RAM stick.
That BIOSTAR TP67B+ uses 1333 or 1066 or 800 speed. The 2200, 2133, and 2000 speeds are the RAM sticks overclocked.
Also look at the CL_ where " _ " is a number. This number indicates how long it takes to respond aka Latency, so lower is better. For example: G.SKILL 8GB DDR3 1333 CL7D. I would use at minimum a DDR3 1333 CL7 (if the motherboard does not support DDR3 1600), at premium a DDR3 1600 CL7, or at medium a DDR3 1600 CL9. My 2-cents. -
My thought on PSU: I choose a CORSAIR HX750W for my similar build. I like having the extra power of a Silver-certified, Tech Report Editor's Choice awarded option.
Counter thought for PSU: Father_Xmas gave good logic that 600W was plenty for our types of systems, so 750W was overkill.
Your call! All things told, my bigger concern between equally choosing to keep an existing/(re)buy an equal/buy a larger PSU would to 1) make sure it is at least Bronze certified, and 2) make sure the case is big enough for a larger power supply if/when needing to upgrade. I don't know about the inside setup, but the outside 20.80" x 8.40" x 20.10" size of the COOLER MASTER RC-692-KKN2 sounds plenty big.
