I've looked over the discussion thread from last week, and i can't seem to find it, but i'm farily sure somebody brought up how lead was about bringing the community together, or some such.. (i think it was you and Jman i believe). I think it was you who last week mentioned the Steel 70 as a community gathering, and that's why it was lead. But this week, you've got several plausible leads. But no, instead your lead is a simple contest. Is that what lead could end up being? The next contest that comes about, whether it be "design the avatar for the next redname", or "name this character" kind of things?

See, the obvious (And best) solution is for the City Scoop to go with an all LiquidX format.
  2. [ QUOTE ]

Actually, what I was thinking about was Short Stories now that the Comic's are gone, but the Scoop isn't really a suitable vehicle for them, length being a potential issue. You could do them in bits or parts I suppose. Also, Arctic Sun mentioned somewhere I believe that he's come up with some idea to take over where the back-pages of the comics left off.

    =^_^=

    [/ QUOTE ]

Actually, short stories could definetly work. The Lexington Herald Leader, for example, has done short stories before for the kids. (Such as a multi-part Bunnicula story)

Also, anyone who gets the reference that was put in the scoop gets +10 cool points.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Am I excluded or are you just slow in rewarding them?

    [/ QUOTE ]

You already had +10 cool points, Mantid. And you got the T-Shirt, too.

Another great edition. I really missed the advice column from LiquidX however. Hope that comes back next time as it is often my favorite section.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Don't worry, it'll be back. Unfortunetly, some things came up that needed my attention, and it prevented me from getting anything done.

Also, anyone who gets the reference that was put in the scoop gets +10 cool points.

Your point is that you don't know them. My/Rose's point is that there are people who do big things for the community that you don't even know about. A community paper should be looking to find these people and make them a part if it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

[Devil's advocate]Except if people don't know about them, then that means they arn't famous. Which means, by certain peoples definitions, they shouldn't be in BtM because they arn't famous.[/Devils advocate]

I'd like to point out that the link underneath my column isn't for show. You guys actually *CAN* send me in questions, y'know.

    O.o

    Really? Whoa.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yeah, I know. Unfortunetly, the most I've gotten so far is some little kid wishing he was Big.

Well, I poke fun and can be serious at the same time. The air is changing around here, my whiskers are all a-quiver with it. Good or Bad? Meh, who can say. It's just 'Different'. On one hand the forum titles are Cool, interesting, and neat. But on the other it is easy to see where a feeling of favourtism or elitism could spawn. I'm a little split about it really.

    [/ QUOTE ]

True. But how is it any different from usual? We've already seen people use Post Counts to take shots at people they don't like, Star Ratings (When we had them), and Reg dates. And there are people who don't like the scoop for one reason or another, and will use anything they can as an excuse to attack people. So it's going to happen one way or the other.

As for deciding what goes into the game, I usually consult a magical sea shell I keep under my desk. The sea shell tells me to do good things, but sometimes it tells me to do bad, very bad. It takes about 15 beers before that sea shell starts to talk.

Just my two cents worth, but dredging up an argument that was over a couple days ago and ended with apologies and no hard feelings, is somewhat pointless.

I guess I'm going into the pit also...

"Mob" is a "Mobile OBject" not a group of enemy AI.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I know. But you've missed the point of my article. It is, to put it simply, a roleplaying explanation for why Heroes and Villains would use these terms. Not why *PLAYERS* use them.

Is that fair to villains? Well, no, not necessarily....but I will try to think about a similar type thing to do on the villains' side. (Feel free to throw out some ideas).

Okay, maybe I'm just being really thick headed, but I can't figure out 8 down for anything. Does anyone else have any hints?

    [/ QUOTE ]

First of all, Leandro's crossword is a billion times better than anything I could craft.

Secondly, for 8 down, let me put it to you this way...

Dead in the first run of the comics.

    Alive in Pocket D.

    A Dev in Cryptic.

This name, at any given moment, is being actively represented in those three forms.

Saga of Ryzom, which allows you to create entire areas of your own.

By the way, there are still a few typos around. Namely in a certain person X's column *coughYOU'REnotYOURcough* so more proofreading might be called for. Still, was a lot of fun! (Sorry about spamming, I'm consolidating my posts into one).

    [/ QUOTE ]

In their defense, I got my bit in at the last minute so it's my fault. And as for why *I* didn't proofread my column, It was because I was too busy trying to scare people away from an abandoned amusement park factory, which I had discovered was actually the site of indian pirate billionaire gold.

And I would have gotten away with it too, if it wern't for those meddling kids and their darn dog.

One of badge-hunter.com's proprietors, Beefcake, is featured in the latest COH comic.

Explanation avoiding spoilers: he helps Positron who offers an enhancement as a reward. He asks for a badge instead.

What a great way to honor someone who has done a lot for the badgehunters among us.

    Kudos Devs/Comic creators!

Is there a badge for appearing in a comic book?

I wish, because then I'd have one.
