    So lets say

Character X logs in, do i get a prompt to pick 1 of the 5 origins (similar to the vet rewards powers)?

Charatcre X logs in and go to the tailor and has all 5 origins unlocked?
Origin Themed is not the same as tied to specific origins. You can use any piece on any character, just as always.

You mean apart from the major free costume drop for Civilian type clothing that came along with Day Jobs? Sure it's easy to gripe, but at least you could tell them what you are looking for so they don't have to guess.

Normal contacts hand out their missions in random order if/until you get to a Story Arc, then the order (in most cases) is constant.

As Golden said, in zones like The Hollows, Croatoa, RWZ, it's easier to stay synced because arcs are pretty much all the contacts hand out.

When it comes to normal contacts though, a good way to manage it is to start at the same contact, and alternate missions until one of you sees the story arc icon next to their contact. From there, exclusively do the other partner's missions until they too get the same mission beginning the story arc.

From that point until the end of the arc it should be fairly easy to run cooperatively and remained synced.

    A) not yelling.
    B) I was just saying your answer wasn't as clearly sarcastic as you may have thought.
  5. Also, on a different tack than my last two posts, I want to add that none of that accounts for the Rock Paper Scissors factor. If you design every AV/EB/GM to be equally strong against all varieties of AT, you essentially make all of them the same. It shouldn't be done.

Purple coding isn't exactly what it appears to be on the label. Despite the fact that they all scale, everything has a "base level" That's what determines HP/End/Regen/Recovery. When the differential is high enough, it becomes pretty easy for certain builds to solo Giant Monsters.

When it comes to Giant Monsters of a higher level (like Kronos Titan, Jurassik) I don't hear of those being soloed often (if ever).

A solid example of this in action is Eochai. Eochai actually is 3-4 different versions of the same monster. My Grav/Kin could help a team of lowbies in Atlas Park, and be able to drain his END dry, and kill his regen to the point they could kill him, but Eochai in Founders Falls couldn't be budged END wise, and while the regen debuff was helpful it didn't make the fight as easy as it had been in AP.

So basically what I'd say is, there's no absolute point of view you can take on this kind of thing. I feel it's mathematically impossible to make content for lowbies in lowbie zones that can't be soloed by higher levels. And truthfully I don't think they should try. If they did crazy things like implement diminishing returns, or put level caps on lowbie zones, it defeats the purpose of leveling up, and actually makes it harder for small teams to get the job done since getting help from a higher level couldn't happen.

I think it's perfectly acceptable to design a challenge from a maths standpoint that it's appropriate for the level range its designed for, and then let people who are leveled past it, or know how to make strong builds, or can leverage their skills to solo that challenge.

Point of clarification, EBs are designed to be soloed. Not easily but they are. Additionally, the fact that people can solo them doesn't mean something went wrong. It simply means the nature of the game has evolved from the original conceptions.

I see it as the game moving forward, and prefer that vastly more than a game that consistently nerfs players to keep some antiquated notion of balance valid.

So in other words, you were lying (or "joking" to be politically correct) about Mako being the most fun. Please don't do that unless you're being obviously ironic or a lot of people have answered before you. People come to this section for legit info, not to be jerked around.

As for the mission you're talking about, it's clear I did forget it. I've done it on two characters and it never stuck out as being terribly hard or fun or memorable.

See, maybe if you'd said this instead of making idiotic comments about people's god complexes or their post counts, you would have been taken a little more seriously. Not much, since we're just going to have to agree to disagree about DCUO, but some.

Here's a tip about disagreeing with people on a forum. If you're going to do it, disagree with the specific thing someone says, and don't make it about something irrelevant like post count, and certainly don't try to lump people into one big category just because they happen to match in that irrelevant aspect.

Don't twist words to make that statement into something it was never intended to be.

It was Castle that said they would never rebalance existing content (as in all content up to the point when he made that comment) to account for IOs. Wasn't a comment about ATs, wasn't a comment about game systems.

Bill's comment was a perfectly legitimate response, since the IO system was specifically designed so people could do that.
  11. Because it's a slighty different version of a lower level Strike Force. Just wasn't that exciting for me.
  12. Standard spawning bug for pretty much all missions with them in that level range. Happens in Citadel, Hess, and Moonfire TFs, Scanner missions, Paper missions, Tip missions, Contact missions, whatever.
  13. I find Scirocco or Ghost Widow to be the most interesting. Black Scorpion was the easiest, and Mako I didn't really find that memorable.

Can we talk crap about it if we've seen everything announced about it so far and think it's crap? Number of posts has nothing to do with it. Competition for this game has nothing to do with it. Even if I loved DC Comics with a passion of the red sun of Krypton, I don't think I'd play DCUO.

There are people in this forums who act like haters to whatever brings some competition againts CoX, or whoever express some kind of dissapoint with the direction of the game.
And there are people on these forums who stay and post long after they've let their subscription lapse, talking about how awesome the game they're going to play is, and how it's going to crush this one. Then they go away for a few months. Then they come back and try to act like nothing ever happened.

Some of us are just smart enough to see new game hype for what it is, and not be duped. While Nethergoat's language may have been a bit coarse, his assessment is pretty much spot on from what I've seen. Blunt isn't the same as disrespectful.

I always try to express my opinion in a respectful tone and then "The guys with thousands post who are in CoX since day 1" come and lol at me or other players.
Everyone got a opinion, having more post dont give you the right to think people are always wrong. And thats what guys like you do.
If you think us having more posts is what convinces us we're more correct than you are, you should reassess.
  16. Yup. If you're not already part of an SG or channel that uses vent, there's not a lot of point to getting hyped about setting it up, unless you have some people want to talk to.
  17. Using vent is often a simple matter of if the people have a server and give you the connection info. It's purely ad hoc basis, and generally PuG teams don't use it. There are some SGs or even Global Channels who run a vent server as well, but as I said it's on a personal basis.

  19. There is no built in voice chat for CoH. If you know people who have their own voicechat set up through ventrilo, you can run that application in the background at the same time without issues.

They both fall within the realm of the Art Department. I know BaB made some weapons himself, and some others he got from a costume designer and simply made the adjustments needed so they worked with the animations.
  21. Which is exactly my point, thank you. It's why "looks like" and "seems" as used by Grey_Lensman and Arbiter_Shade, are so wishy washy and dangerous. It's supposition and conclusion based on false disparity.

As much as people might like to think so, opinions aren't sacred. Someone is totally free to keep their thoughts to themselves and no one can ever argue it. But when someone states that opinion in the open air, they don't get to control how people respond to it.

If said opinion is about a quantifiable trend, and the conclusions that person draws don't actually match the truth, then other people are perfectly within their rights to tell them they are wrong. Doesn't make them fanboys to do so, and it doesn't mean they are flaming.

If they get to hide behind "looks like" and "seems" then so do the people disagreeing with them.

Even then, the fact that "I've played this mission before omg its NOT NEW" never even registers with me. I have enough different alts, they play fundamentally differently, and I take enough different progression paths, that each time I play something I've done before, it may not be completely unfamiliar, but it's not likely I remember it in detail.

Gee sounds scary and impressive when you put it that way.

Too bad that wasn't what I was asking at all. The point someone was trying to make was that the trend is steadily worsening over time. No one as demonstrated that yet.

Are they giving us more stuff in paid packs than we get for free? Don't care, not the point.

Are we getting less and less free stuff over time because of it? Not demonstrated by anyone I've seen yet.

    Fix the Pet AI

I will agree as long as any fix only applies to pets designed around staying at range. My Flytrap and Animated Stone have benefitted from this change and would hate to have them go back to the way they were before.
  25. If you stay true to your alignment and run Tip missions regularly and take advantage of those A-Merits, you will end up ahead of the game over someone who switches sides. Not much, but still. They lose 4 days switching sides. In that time you can get your Numina Unique or whatever your heart desires.

They never said there was going to be a penalty and they never said the advantage was going to be substantial and ongoing. A-Merits are the advantage for staying true to a side. They allow you to make significant purchases much more quickly and easily than traditional Reward Merits.

Maybe someday they'll consider adding other additions, but even if they don't the system is solid.
