I think that shows a sort of disconnect in the system itself. Supposedly, a big part of the introduction of the Incarnate system was to introduce an end game and give people "something to do with their 50s". The thing is, in actuality, there's very, very little new to do in this system. There's a lot to get, but what you can do with it is all stuff you will have done a million times by the time you get it. Or simply put, the new system has barely offered people more than Purple Recipes did. Telling people to go do something else seems like it basically misses the point of what the Incarnate content was supposed to offer in the first place.

Of course, this all resets back to the fog so others can complete it as well but I think the effect would still be there. Much like Recluses' Victory and how the zone changes. I think they missed the boat with not implementing more of that mechanic throughout the game.
This discussion came up in another topic at one point, and I sorta liked this idea. I wonder if it's possible, actually, to use Going Rogue's "disappearing contact" tech on the fog there. That'd be an awesome way to create a cool climax while still keeping the story intact for characters who come into it fresh.
  3. I haven't seen any problems on Lambda, but I've done my one'a'day BAF the last couple days, and on the day of the patch, it was a full group of 24, and, well, I've never seen lag that bad before. And I went to pre-i9 Hami raids. I honestly didn't believe we'd even be able to succeed, since it was taking me a whole 10 seconds just for the game to realize that my attacks had finished animating.

Yesterday I ran it with a group of 17, and it seemed to be at pre-patch levels again, though a few of the people on my league said they were still noticing a serious slowdown in comparison.
  4. Amusing little story. We'll see if it's anything to really care about, but it's nice to see there's at least an effort being made.

Is the villainous doc in the story an in-game character? I don't recognize the name right offhand.

Not sure what they day of it has to do with anything. An anniversary seems like a wonderful time to reflect on the past. If they didn't want their parade rained on, they shouldn't have provided folks the water.

Part of it's the general "Reichsman is soooooooooo powerful and sooooooooo cool and he beat you with one hit, yep, totally, and you absolutely can't ever defeat him uh-uh no matter what without stealing powers from the lieutenants." There's a difference between an imposing enemy and just sort of out-of-the-blue saying that characters who are supposed to be the pinnacle of strength are actually totally impotent (a big problem I have with the Incarnate "storyline", as well).

There's also the fiasco at the end where "You're totally an Arbiter now. Even though you're not. But you are! Except not really because you have nothing to do with being an Arbiter." that just seemed to be shoehorned in with no real research. Actually, lack of research was a problem throughout Barracuda, same as Kahn.

Top it off, a considerable portion of what pathetic story there is gets hidden behind a massive dialogue tree that only the leader gets to see anyway. The whole thing is just a disaster, both in terms of story and in terms of mechanics.

Given the impressive quality of the Going Rogue story arcs, the layoffs immediately after, and the dropoff we've seen after the fact (as well as a few issues before), well, I'm going to guess that these points are connected somehow...

My friend has a theory that since we still haven't seen their penultimate meeting, that'll actually be the second-to-last meeting for the both of them. They'll have one "last" time together, where they both completely know each other.

  10. I picked up #4 a couple days ago, didn't get a chance to read it 'til earlier this afternoon. Guy who runs the ye olde locale comic shoppe in my neck of the woods has been following the series as well and generally enjoying it mentioned when I picked up my copy that he was a bit disappointed with the ending. We didn't really discuss it at the time, though, since I, y'know, hadn't read the book yet. Now that I have...I kinda do want to ask him about it in more detail, mostly because I actually rather liked it.

I did think it moved a little fast, especially given that the first three issues were a bit more leisurely...it felt like there was a lot crammed into this one. But what was crammed into it was pure comic book goodness, though, so no major complaints. I rather like the note it ended on, and I've genuinely enjoyed this series from start to finish.

Given the time frame in which our characters had it, and an average release rate of three issues/year, we should be able to safely expect such a power sometime before i17,000.

It's tied to hitting. If you miss, obviously, there won't be a -KB, but as long as you hit, any maz that applies the -KB will apply it regardless of whether the target is mezzed or not.
  13. The idea of each slot giving a power reflective of a specific AT is kinda neat, though I'm not sure it works out perfectly (what's Interface?). I don't know what would be what, but I do suspect we'll see two things among the remaining slots:

#A damage proc. Sorta like Interface, but focused specifically on adding some other layer of damage to all attacks instead of debuffs. Basically gives everyone a chance to do a "critical hit" of some element type of damage or another. This sorta makes sense for "Hybrid", I suppose. Not sure how trees would work for it, though (maybe balancing chance to occur with the amount of damage it does?).

#A shield of some sort. Trees would be based on different styles of mitigation (Resist, Defense, Regeneration, the 4th could maybe be a damage or debuff aura?). Seems like it would be best suited to the "Vitae" slot.
  14. IIRC, the knockdown from the proc reports in your combat log. So you can try checking those as you spam the power, see if the game is telling you the proc went off when nobody gets knocked down.

Actually, I like that on principle. "Here's the stuff I just ganked from your robots. You can have it back if you pay me." Very "villain side of the D"-appropriate.

I got the joke. It took a minute, but I got the joke (and really, the best ones are the ones where you don't grown until a bit later). But even then I couldn't think of any sort of amusing retort like Chase did, so I figgered it better left to someone else.

Well, granted, I know that I myself, as well as more than a few others, have mentioned numerous times that just having to grind the two raids over and over again is a problem. However, I think that feedback may have been skewed a little...

Speaking only from personal experience, in normal play, my namesake character, an Illusion/Emp controller, uses Ice Storm from his Epic pool fairly frequently. I've experimented with it a bit while on various runs, and I actually seem to do better on runs where it gets used. Raids where I'm able to keep Ice Storm and even my Phantom Army up as much as possible seem to result in better rewards, despite the fact that it's a lot of pets and pseudo-pets doing damage on my behalf (3 VRs, while my more direct-assault oriented Fortunata has received not-a-one). Perhaps it has to do with the frequency at which I summon them?

To be fair, it's not about how "he sees her" as how "she sees him". Even if Wretch's feelings were non-romantic, that doesn't mean Widow's were the same. That said, Ghost Widow is, like, the least reliable perspective on her own situation anyway.
  21. So, basically, this was two back-to-back hours of Bruce Campbell doing awesome stuff.
...that's the pinnacle of television, right there.

  25. I haven't run it, but I can say that that doesn't even begin to make sense.

Guess the devs figgered folks we bored with Snaptooth, and need another PvP event for next V-Day? Around this time next year, expect new content where Scirocco and Ghost Widow finally get together. And the year after that, it can be Tyrant and Dominatrix.
