An other build to add to the 7 I have already done here and there. This is basically what I am working towards. I am about 7 recipes off (basically the bloody expensve ones)
I think the summary at the bottom of the set bonuses is wrong. Especially as it says onlt 7.5% recovery bonus, when I have the numina's unique which gives 10% on its own and the miracle 7.5% one as well....
The figues in HP it's self say this build regens 3.03 end/s and uses 0.7 - 1.2/s so the recovery is a lot more than the total bellow suggest.
Any ways. this little build is going on test tonight to see if there are any huge issues.

Hi mate.
I posted a couple of full length builds in my dm/da guide here http://uk.boards.cityofheroes.com/showfl...e=0&fpart=3
Not fully IO set slotted, I don't think any of the dmg res IO sets can really be 2x end redux IO and 3x dmg res IO for bang/buck. I have added a 6th slot to my 3 dmg res armors for steadfasts.
I'll be posting my final current build tomorrow. -
[ QUOTE ]
True.. and it looks awesome, I can tell ya that.
[/ QUOTE ]
But it does make costume obsolete most of the time.
Hence why I have 18 cossie change tokens on my main. I think about using one, then go "Whats the point" -
[ QUOTE ]
Which mag has KB power?
[/ QUOTE ]
3 x Mag 4 KB IOs should be enough unless you get hit by a couple of gales or something similar.
Heros planner gives the KB mag of each power.
I normally leave weave out on /DA, even slotting CJ, CoD and Weave for defence you can only get 20 odd %, which is ok. But you'd be better of concentrating slots on dmg res which is what /DA is all about.
I'll post you up an example build on monday when I'm in work. -
If you take CoD, it gives you mag 10 immob res +perception and stealth. Not a bad package.
LotG you can slot in cloak of darkness or CJ if you keep it. Numina you can put into health acording to Hero planner. I currently have mine in dark regen.
I like to take tough on a /DA as it gives you 55%+ res to S/L dmg.
I've laid out what I think about the DA powers and their effects in a guide (in the guides section) Take a look.

Main Dark Amor powers, Dark Embrace, Murky Cloud and Obsidian Shield, have the most basic slots. I've got the whole Aegis Set but I don't know if it's useful with these powers, I've seen that people uses other sets instead.
Any ideas about how to improve this MA/DA toon? Every time I sit and try to plan a respec or a set slotting I get a headache...
[/ QUOTE ]
If your lvl 50:
I would look at steering clear of the Aegis set's. They cost way to much to buy recipes, salvage or fully crafted. My suggestion would be to save your money and slot with 2 endredux IOs & 3 dmg res IOs. I've added a 6th slot to mine to take a Steadfast KB protection IO in all 3.
If you did this, you could drop the 3 powers you have from the jumping pool and get cloak of darkness, you could also get samina earlier if you dropped the leaping pool.
Then take the money you save on the Aegis set IOs (or money you make from flogging them) and get for example a numina's +10% recovery +20% regen or a luck of the gambler global recharge reduction.
I don't think /DA needs the set bonus's Aegis or Titanium coating gives you. -
The thing with these builds is cost. Even though it's not fully slotted with the rares of each type, you still looking at a huge wedge of inf or a couple of weeks of very lucky drops.
Maybe it's best to get a build which will work with or without all the sets and then full them up as you go? -
Spines DA is a good little combo. It is some what lacking in single target dmg, but having 2 PBAoE dmg auras and 1 PBAoE attack puts the dps up a lot.
Watch the endurance and be selective on the toggles you run. IE if your not fighting fire/cold dmg dealers, turn of murky cloud etc etc.
Oh and watch the agro, in the mid levels you can draw huge agro, but don't have the full dmg res to take it.
When you hit 50, you should be a swirly black spine emmiting cloud at the centre of huge mobs. -
Can I just point out that this has been done very successfully before. If you have a good mix of the primaries, you should have no problems doing any missions on INV.
We breezed through to lvl 30 just doing the TFs in order on INV.
So good luck and I hope you had as much fun as we did. -
Heres my 10c worth:
I would say as a DA scrapper you still have to get the leaping pool purely for acrobatics. If you team a lot, especially in 8 man teams, you NEED it. I spent more inf than I care to think about buying 3 steadfasts and 1 kama KB IOs only to find that I could still get knocked back with reasonable freaquency by some mobs. Tsoo and the croatoa witches are the worst. Hurricane will get through 2KB IOs, Gale through 3, so if you have 2 bosses in 1 mob, your on your [censored]. Also fighting a lot of Council/preatorians with the MA sets will find you bouncing around.
I hate having to take leaping for acro, but thats the way it is as a /DA. If you solo a lot, you'll be fine with 3 KB IOs.
I take boxing early as a low end fast recharge addition to the attack chain.
If your going all out AoE (which you should be as a spines/da) take Death shroud and Opressive Gloom. Feared mobs don't run as much as stuned ones, but by using both CoF and DS at the same time, they have a habit to semi cancel each other out.
Take MC but you don't need it until the 20's.
If you do go without acrobatics, you can slot the shields 2xendredux IO, 2xdmg redux IO and 1 steadfast KBprot. This looses you 2% res in each one, but would give you mag 16 KB prot.
I've looked at Aegis etc and decided that I'm better off with IOs as the set bonuses don't add up to much. You could try titanium coating as the set bonuses are more applicable to /DA, but that costs inf and requires an extra slot.
I'm going to post up a few more builds in my DM/DA guides, basically focusing on IO rather than set IO slotting as I feel it gives a better build for the average player (ie one who doesn't have 500,000,000 inf to buy and craft the sets)
Hope some of these points help. -
[ QUOTE ]
is this one of those contests where people that have wings win?
[/ QUOTE ]
Well if they have the best costume, then yes.
But wings aren't going to be the deciding factor, imho because a lot of the cossies with wings look a bit sloppy ie the wings are an after thought not the centre point. -
Welcome AkumaDark.
Send us a shout tonight if you fancy some teamage. Should be doing some inf making to aford a few more steadfasts.... -
I have tough on my DM/DA and have it slotted with a DMGREZ/ENDREDUX Hami, 2 dmgrez IOs and an end redux IO.
-
I have tough on my DM/DA and as pointed out in my guide, with tough and some good slotting you can get near the scrapper cap on S/L damage.
I'm dropping Body mastery to take Dark mastery as I've found my self using CP less and less. With good slotting and invention sets, I'm finding I don't need FA. LaserBeem eyes is the one I use the most.
I think the Dark Mastery powers work better with my concept, play style and teams. -
I've just posted updated Builds in my DM/DA guide. Both are taking Dark Mastery, basically because the only power I was using out of the BM set was FocAcc. Even though DM/DA has end problems I found my self very rarely using conserve power.
I'm respecing into DM over the weekend after I have crafted all the set IOs.
Having had a D3 with all of the Dark Mastery powers I can say that at least 3 are definitely worth it. -
Copied from my little guide, OS gives you a base 37.5% PSI res AND Mag 10.4 res to Hold, Sleep, Stun & Fear.
These last 4 are non-enhanceable. So no matter how many dmg res you slot, it will not get better.
Acrobatics gives you 100Mag res to knockback and knockup. Plus Mag2 res to holds and a 50% reduction in the duration of holds.
So runnig both, you will have to get hit by 13Mags of holds to be held and 11Mags of sleep/stun/fear.
So yes a few of death mages couple stack up enough holds to get through.
Hope this helps. -
I've always taken taunt on my tanks, but the best bit of advice a very experienced SG tank gave me was get you defences sorted and then get taunt and the big attacks.
You see a lot of scrankers out there who just have the passives, heals and attacks. IMH they are not what I would call a "TANK". If they can't gather and hold the agro from 8+ mobs (and not die) they are not a proper tank.
I once got complimented on my tanking by another 24mth vet in an atta team because I held the agro and mobs until I died to let the squishies run for it. He remaked that it was like the good old days. He and I agreed that it was WoW's fault
To me Tanking is about being first in and the last to run. Your there to keep stuff occupied while the dmg dealers take it out. It can be very very dull tanking like this. But then there was always something really fun about a couple of good fire/ice tanks hearding most of the external freak maps and then ice patch, burn, rinse, repeat.
On the other hand, having an INV/NRG with hasten rip though mobs is also fun.
You'll never resolve this one, it's all a matter of personal pref and taste. If you don't like the tank, kick him and find another one. -
Embrace the pain, go for BS/DA.
If you want a easy life go regen.
I currently have a BS/DA @ lvl 11, a BS/INV at lvl 9 and I have deleted a lvl 17 BS/RGN. -
Just to add my 2p to this ancient thread.
I took CoF the level it became available when playing my DM/DA and I hated it. I did the same with OG.
Then after many months of slogging to 50 and with a freespec coming up, I used my existing freespec to bring OG in, this was fine for a couple of weeks but I found my self not running it more often than not.
So I used one of my vet respecs and swapped it out for CoF and bought ToF in rather than LBE. I must say that as I have gone for a hastenless build, the ability to take most of the minions out of play is a life saver.
And to top it off, I now have 4 of the 6 Glimpse of the Abyss recipes. With those slotted and a few choice HO's it's just so useful.
Just a note, I'm sure your all aware of this, but don't run it with Death Shroud........ -
