Brian: The most important thing that most of the players are requesting is the ability to change the costumes and customize the look of the bosses and things like that in the mission creator.

    [/ QUOTE ]

You know, there's a side to all this I don't really think anyone's considered yet.

The improved MA has to work both ways, doesn't it? By improving the toolbox so that players can customise allies and baddies, surely that means the Devs will now have much greater freedom to do exactly the same thing in the official missions?

From what I can remember, the MA started out as a Dev tool. Unless I'm misreading something somewhere, a greatly improved MA will surely result in more and better mission content in the Issues, as well as giving us the customisation we wanted.

Did I read that that right, "Winter" and "09"?

    [/ QUOTE ]

    No. It means Q1 of 2009. January-March.
  3. [ QUOTE ]
Issue 14 is slated for Winter 2009?? I don't know if I can wait that long....or do they mean Jan-March of 2009?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yes, they mean Jan-March of 2009.

PvP content is something we are looking at improving in the very near future, with some new systems to support it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    ooh! shiny!
  5. Hi Bruce! Two questions for you...

    1) With the Mission Architect coming in Issue 13, the bar of player expectation from the Devs is going to be raised, because we'll be able to see how the basic missions are done. We won't be able to go into some of the old missions any more without thinking 'Map type: Warehouse, Enemy Group: Council, Mission Type: Boss Defeat... hey, I could have written this myself!'

So what new tricks and features are the incoming missions going to have, which players CAN'T access? In other words, how are you going to keep Dev-made mission content special, other than just through the quality of the writing and the canonicity?

    2) There are a lot of stories in City of Heroes that we've not come back to as yet. Do you have any storylines that you, personally, are looking forward to extending?

Hey, the Doms are the PRIMARY target of the power set. Masterminds get a reduced version of it and NO ONE ELSE gets it. Why are so many people not understanding this is a gift to the dominators? Masterminds also benefit, but the Doms are the primary beneficiaries.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Doms don't get it at all. Check the announcement. Masterminds and CORRUPTORS get it.
  7. [ QUOTE ]
Not gonna bust my butt to create tons of missions that grant absolutely no reward.

    [/ QUOTE ]

If there was no reward, Posi wouldn't be talking of the need to tweak the reward system through several iterations.
  8. [ QUOTE ]
I highly doubt different recipes in the same pool will have different values. All pool C recipres will be the same I'd bet.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Based on what Posi said, I highly doubt this:

    [ QUOTE ]
Upon completing tasks in the game (Task Forces, Trials, etc.) you get an option of receiving Reward Merits instead of a normal reward. The number of merits is based on the difficulty of the mission, how long it takes to complete on average, etc. Thus things like the Katie Hannon TF have minimal merits associated with them, and things like the Shadow Shard Task Forces get bunches.

You can then trade those merits in for specific rewards, like recipes and the like, or trade in a smaller amount for random recipes if you feel lucky.

    [/ QUOTE ]

If they priced the best recipes the same as the worst (using Auction House prices as a guideline as to what's most desirable) then why would anyone EVER spend the same for a good one as a bad one?
  9. [ QUOTE ]
You guys are nutz. NOTHING should require you to do a TF 30-50 times. That is just horrible. If a pool C recipe costs 20 tokens, a typical TF/SF should reward at least 5 tokens. Anything more than that is just ridiculous.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I think the idea is that different recipes cost different amounts.
  10. [ QUOTE ]
The slap in the face is that they are actively stating it and rubbing casuals' noses in it rather than just letting it be.

    [/ QUOTE ]

What on earth are you talking about?

The idea of the Merit system is to finally make it worth people's while to run long TFs like Quaterfield and Positron. If you can get the same reward from a 10 minute Katie Hannon as you do from a 4 hour Posi TF, why bother with the Posi TF?

This isn't anti-casual. This is a very good idea, which finally makes TF rewards reflect the amount of time people have put into them. People who want to run fast TFs and so on will still be able to.
  11. [ QUOTE ]
But honestly, things like this are a slap in the face to casual gamers who don't have time to go doing TF's and whatnot every night.

    [/ QUOTE ]

This is AS WELL AS the current system, not INSTEAD OF.

Don't give me that 'slap in the face' rubbish, please.
  12. I do not think I have ever been this psyched over an Issue before.

    Message from Positron:

    Blueprints are ready
    The Architect has been paid
    Reveal's on Tuesday

    [/ QUOTE ]

    WHAT?!?!
  14. Stuff I'd like to see:

Hamidon before he was transformed, and maybe mid-way through the process, engulfing a ruined lab or something...

Definitely the 5th Column attack on Independence Port. And the Reichsman.

I'd love more stuff with the Carnival of Light, but that's probably just me.

I'd also love to see some of the really primordial magical events in our history. The banishing of the Banished Pantheon, the creation of the Coralax, the concealing of Oranbega.
  15. [ QUOTE ]
It is also important to mention that the reference on Massively.com to an idea that Issue 13 will be the last free issue for City of Heroes is completely false.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I take it you mean the reference on IGN.com, which Massively then referred to. Massively also noted that it could be 'a communications blip', which IGN.com didn't.
  16. [ QUOTE ]
So what are the people that paid more for getting both coh/cov going to get for ponying up the extra money.....

    [/ QUOTE ]

Exactly what you paid for - access to that content for all the months you had it, before they cruelly took it away from you.

    oh wait, they didn't.

    [ QUOTE ]
Why do I feel im getting slapped in the face again for buying something that becomes free later on......

    [/ QUOTE ]

Have you ever actually been slapped in the face?
  17. [ QUOTE ]
Thumbs down, however, on what the NPCs in Cimerora say. How exactly does "Romanus Namus" know I helped cure the lost? What does "Citizenus Cimerorus" know about enhamncements? It seems very suspicious. And immersion-breaking. And LAME.

    [/ QUOTE ]

They managed to fix the NPCs so they don't say modern things when you click on them. That much is working at least. It's the spontaneous things that still need to be fixed.

Unfortunately it seems to have broken the regular modern NPCs in Paragon. Apart from the information-giving ones, they now only say 'Nice day, isn't it?'
  18. [ QUOTE ]
no matter what anyone says, i will never be convinced a pick up team could beat this tf, only a well put together, pre-planned crew.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Both times I've done this TF, it was with a pick up group. And both times, we succeeded.

    It's happening constantly.

    Underwater Area

    [ QUOTE ]
Just as long as nobody starts begging for a breath meter to increase 'realism'.

Got so tired of my undead drowning in WoW and Warforged doing the same in DDO.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I expect the line will be something like this...

'You're superheroes and supervillains. You can jump from the top of a skyscraper at level 1 and NOT DIE. Many of you don't even need to breathe. Some of you are robots. Some are vampires. Some are aliens. Some are FISH PEOPLE. So we're going to let you stay underwater as long as you want. If you want to roleplay coming up for air and gasping once in a while, please be our guest.'

Of course, a few extra Scuba, Fish Features and Old Fashioned Diving Apparatus costume pieces would help with the immersion, too.

Yes, Sexy Jay, that was a hint. As well as a lame pun.

Positron: "My favorite part of issue 12 would have to be 'the surprise' in the Timesaver(?) task force, and that's all I'm going to say."

    [/ QUOTE ]

That would be the Time's Arrow task force.
  21. Joe, the reason Reichsman is so popular is all down to Manticore. He said the Fifth Column would return 'led by the butt kicking Reichsman' some time ago.
  22. So we get to create our own missions, AND they can have RPG style branching dialogue?!

    i simply have no words.

i must respond through the medium of interpretative dance.

*jumps wildly up and down and knocks stuff everywhere*
  23. [ QUOTE ]
He's also excited about the addition of traditional RPG branching tree dialogue, something they didn't have in City of Heroes until this Issue and will now begin to use quite a bit.

"In this issue it's just the test bed for it, we got the tech late into the development process so we were not able to use it everywhere we wanted to," said Miller.

This allows them to put options into conversations or theoretically do things like present players with situations like which wire to cut when diffusing a bomb. It sounds simple, but it makes their options as mission designers much greater.

Miller could not - however - comment on whether they plan to go back over old content and backwards integrate this technology.

    ZOMG YAY

    [ QUOTE ]
What's wrong with the ones you were already given?

    GhostRaptor, quoted over here:

'there will be no private data sent to Double Fusion or the advertisers. They only information they receive is data about how often the ads are viewed.'

    GhostRaptor, clarifying yet again:

'As has been said earlier in the thread (and elsewhere): the only information that DF/advertisers receive is how many times, and for how long, each ad is viewed for. *Nothing* else.'

    [/ QUOTE ]

So basicly they are turning this game into spyware. Thanks that's all I really needed to know. They SAY no private data, but once that little space is open in your system, stuff can and does get in.

    [/ QUOTE ]

... how could you possibly conclude that from what was said?

They are NOT 'turning this game into spyware'. The data that's sent back is, as you were told, 'how many times, and for how long, each ad is viewed for'. And if you opt out of the ads, even THAT won't happen.
