Just cause nobody says it to you, doesn't mean they don't think it, Blind. Seriously, after playing 2 blasters, 2 kheldians and a fire tanker, I know if a mind controller wants to try sleeping the whole group, fine, but I'm gonna wake them all up in half a second.
-
The truth is that fire and illusion controllers can become a 1 person army after 32. I'm not pointing fingers, saying nerf that, but if the devs need to balance things, that's just the way it goes.
As for mind control, some of their powers are pretty nifty, but in my opinion, not overly desirable to have in a team.
-First complaint is the experience penalty with confuse powers. Teams will shun that.
-Second is that sleep powers are useless in many teams, since you typically have a tank holding aggro when blasters or kheldians use AOE blasts.
-Third, mind controlling tends to slow down the progress of a team more than be useful. "Hey team wait here for a few minutes while I mind control those guys and reduce the exp reward for us."
As for gravity, the other control set that needs help.
-Perhaps reduce the base recharge of many of their powers might help. Sure Distortion Field is a nice hold, but you really need lots of accuracy and recharges to make it useful.
-I suppose boosting the pet a bit might be good too.
-Also, Dimension Shift would be much more useful if the affected foes were untargetable or something. Having every one of your team mates continuously swinging at intangible foes severely cripples this power. Maybe if it was single target, so you could choose which foes to remove from the battle (ie the ones your team isn't fighting).
-With Crush and Crushing Field how about a slow effect similar to warshades immobilize power? After all, warshade powers are gravity based also. -
I think it may have been said before, but warshades should have a power or 2 to benefit their team, like peacebringers have a rather potent heal, glowing touch. It's cool that peacebringers get scrapping, blasting and a bit of defending powers in human form, but warshades only have very limited control powers, even more limited blasting, and only self buffs. If they are meant to be stand in controllers, at least give them better control powers, maybe 1 team buff or heal power, reduce endurance on most of their powers, fix the endurance recharge problem in nova form, maybe better pets also.
-
Well since not much has been said about warshades, here goes....
I don't know for sure if the devs have been working on this as I've heard reports on both sides, but warshades have the worst endurance problems of any AT I've seen. I use Nova form regularly, I can totally see the difference, Bright Nova recovers end faster than Dark Nova. About 5 seconds of blasting, my endurance is done. Not a good thing, only way I can keep fighting is if I got someone speed boosting or giving RA. The human form attack powers aren't horrible on the endurance, but not great.
Dwarf seems to have decent endurance use, but I must say the self heal in this form is absolutely pathetic. First of all, it has to hit, and doesn't have very good accuracy, secondly, the amount of health drained is very minimal and will not likely help much if you really need it. Please improve the heal, I mean you need the heal to tank as warshade. I much prefer the white dwarf heal.
Just got my warshade to 24, finally got my first self heal power for human form, Stygian Circle. Now the amount healed is pretty nice, but what really shocked me was that it takes over 1/3 of an endurance bar PLUS I need to have defeated foes at my feet PLUS it requires accuracy and can miss? What the heck, let's just make it more useless, only have it work during a solar eclipse or something. So after an intense battle your health is low, your end is quickly drained because your a warshade, etc.. then you have to wait for about 1/3 your endurance to recover and try to catch a defeated foe with this power before it disappears... Ah yes, futility. For that end cost, it should heal my team.
Haven't even tried the self res power yet, but I imagine sucking essence from a living target to revive yourself won't be too convenient either.
Please fix some of this stuff! -
Not taking sides here, but Rocket how is being rude and arrogant better if you happen to be an "intense gamer"?

That is what is really silly. I might not be in the market for an Enhancement or the Spelunker mission, but is it really necessary to petition the designers because I dont know how to edit my chat tab?
[/ QUOTE ]
Hmm how do you edit broadcasts and tells to only block messages related to power leveling and influence begging? I'd like to know, since there are some messages I might want to hear... like someone forming a team to actually play the game.

Go to your 4rth Chat Tab. Open it up....Edit it to only include broadcast and request. Never look at it.....unless you are in the market.
Sorry I can't censor the world for you. Others have the right to look for a team and transmit on those two channels. Sorry you are forced to share, but it is a MMORPG after all so either accept sharing or stop playing.
Everytime someone puts up a "Wolf mission......blah blah" put them on ignore, then hit "clear history". I am sure with about 5 minutes total over the lifetime of your char (it takes about 8 seconds to type out even the longest name) you will eventually never hear another wolf mission broadcast.
[/ QUOTE ]
How about this instead... Go to contact.. get wolf mission... do it in the time allowed... Mission Complete... haha
Sorry don't mean to sound condescending, but I don't intend to ignore the world. And this poster did seem a bit condescending towards me in the first place.
I'm just sorry that some people refuse to play by the rules. Sorry for those who actually do want to play by the rules and aren't able to complete this mission. I'm personally in favor of timing this one.. perhaps a longer timer however.
Actually how about this for a compromise... Add a timed delay that will allow you to reset the mission. Such as only 1 attempt to finish the mission per day. Then you still have plenty of opportunity to beat the AV to get the badge and it's pointless to use it for power level.
Or maybe another option, simply make a set limit to the number of villains/creatures that a single character can keep taunted. Perhaps based on relative level. Like a tanker can hold 10 purples or 15 reds... whatever. Maybe not these numbers exactly, but a reasonable limit, so herding an entire map is never possible. -

I know it's kind of an old topic, but as far as coaching an inexperienced tanker is concerned, there's not much coaching that's going to make a fire tanker contribute if he has 3 travel powers (no power choices included hasten or leaping pool) group fly, no taunt, blazing aura or burn at level 24. He had stealth of course, but didn't bother using it because he dealt very little damage and had no possible way of pulling aggro until every other team member was dead (which happened a few times).
-
Wow remind me not to team with Wither up there. Just because a peacebringer on his team died once, they must suck and not fill a team role properly. So exactly what is it that makes a Peacebringer not qualify as a "proper" AT? I played my blaster to 50, My peacebringer can't even use SO's yet and I think my damage is probably better than my blaster was. Are you one of those people who thinks a controller should just control, defender should only defend, etc.? So if a controller on your team is the only person with healing powers, you will reprimand them if they use it? Their "role" is not healing, that's a defenders role. Yes adaptability is a good role for a team. And most teams are happy with what they see my peacebringer do. After 50 levels as a blaster, I'm very happy to get self heals and shields when I need them.

One thing I've noticed lately, people seem to be avoiding a lot of TFs more. It's been tough to find TFs for Sister Psyche and Bastion especially. I think the changes are not encouraging grouping too much. With the current game, duo's are the safest option for missions. If you add a third person, he/she better be a darn good tanker or people are in trouble.

Boss Changes
In our game, mob (i.e. villain) spawns depend upon the size of a team. The following is a rough approximation of how spawns are calculated:
A minion is worth 1/3 of a hero
A Lt. is worth ¾ of a hero
A Boss is worth 1.5 heroes
[/ QUOTE ]
Hmm, I think this calculation is a bit off. Got the mission to find the Justifier last night.
Never having done the mission before, I had no idea about the boss fight in this mission. It was a timed mission and I'm fairly certain the mission required me to defeat said boss, although the presence of any kind of boss was not even hinted at in the description.
So I get to the boss, he has a scripted dialog or whatever and he's even level (orange). I'm a level 34 blaster. I managed to clear the entire section of the cave without getting aggro from the boss. Good so far. I use aim and build up and start my Zapp to snipe. It hits, 3 damage SO and 1 accuracy, hmm... couldn't give you exact figures, but it looked like 1/10 of his health. At this point I know I'm dead. The cavern made it pretty much impossible to stay out of melee. Oh sure I was using hover and 6 slot stealth, but it didn't matter, the second he closed to melee he gave me a 1, 2 attack spit for over 300 plus the dot effect, then claw for the kill before I could even scream.
Then I decided, well I can just go to town buy a bunch of inspirations and beat him that way. So I eventually get back to the mission, use 15 enrages, aim, build up, Thunderous Blast.... hmm 4 damage SOs and all that boosting, maybe 1/6 of his health... can you guess what happens next? Well I managed to evade instant death for a little while, got him down to 1/3 health before I died again. And I died 2 more times after that too.
1.5 heroes... yea okay... oh the decimal point was really just an ink splatter, whoops.
I do have a suggestion to fix this and I think it is a compromise that will make most players happy (hopefully).
How about if you scale the boss level with the number of players. Not in the way villains are scaled in missions now. Make bosses scale a little more dynamically. As an example, 3 or 4 heroes and you get a +2 boss, 5 or 6 is +3 boss and 7 or 8 is +4 boss. This would only affect the main boss leader(s) of the mission, all other enemies will use the old scaling method. Or maybe the boss's guards in the room with him get half the level boost or something. This way you could have the even level bosses go back to the way they were, but teams in missions, won't just breeze through the bosses. And you will have the epic final showdown before completing the mission with a team.
Not sure if the devs considered this, but I think it makes much more sense than just arbitrarilly saying solo blasters are gonna be debt magnets. Blaster debt was bad enough before issue 3. -

Consider the following:
1. Invulnerable (and to a lesser extent Regen) scrappers were nerfed with U 3.
2. Scrappers are supposed to be the AT most able to solo, the boss killers.
3. Things got incredibly harder for us, but scrappers like a challenge - if we didn't like a challenge no dark scrappers would exist.
IMHO, I fear no nerf bat, it has already hit me.
[/ QUOTE ]
Well that's fine for you mister scrapper, but what do the rest of us do when we get one shot killed by bosses in our own missions at the weakest difficulty setting. Scrapper can and always has been able to solo. At 32 I stopped playing my main blaster because it was too hard to solo anything and teams were scarce. That was before issue 3. Now you have no chance of surviving a mission solo after level 25 unless you are tanker or scrapper (or a controller hiding behind pets).
So let's see the new ATs require a level 50 character to unlock. To accomplish this here's your choices:
1 Play scrapper
2 Play tanker
3 Get power leveled to 50
Yep so much for fun.
And if you really want a challenge, stop hiding behind your scrapper defenses and hit points for a while. Try soloing a blaster in a mission. -
Someone brought up the idea of hazzard zone type pvp areas. Now what if they took this idea and made these pvp zones level restricted. Like say a level 50 enters a level 10 pvp zone. He suddenly receives the exemplar effect and is fighting at level 10. All powers and slots he got past level 10 are unavailable. This would make a fair compromise if they have level zones for each 5 or 10 levels. On the other hand a level 10 hero could enter the higher level zone if he or she has a sidekick mentor. This could work I think.

hit points at level 40 are a lot more than double or triple I think. My level 32 blaster has 745 hp I think. My friend level 31 tanker has 1800! If the scaling is one way, the higher level will heal faster than a lower level can do damage anyway.
