Just my two cents worth, and I understand that this is all it is... But IMHO shouldnt someone with a title as prominent as Badge FAQ Editor be expected to rely on a little more professionalism than excuses such as, Everyone who knows me, knows I have a harsh style? Sometimes the people seeking answers dont know you at all, and shouldnt be subjected to harshness in any case. And furthermore, if you can dish it out, you ought to be able to take it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Why?

Those custom titles are given to regular players just like you and me. What makes them different? Why does a title given for just caring about an aspect of the game enough to do something for it mean someone has to be yelled at or held to a higher standard than anyone else?

Sorry, that's just another post count argument and has no real basis.

Welcome to the new century, I think you'll like it here. Please be aware that in this media age that most, if not all, countries allow for something similar to "fair use" or "fair dealing". You are allowed to copy a work so long as it is not for gain, and less than 10% of a work.

Again, welcome to the internet age.

All I was saying, Snow_baller, is that if NCSoft is linking to the Community Scoop thing, they as a company should have a disclaimer stating it is not company done. I realize that copyrighted images can be used blah blah blah as you so nicely pointed out.

I don't come to these forums very often, and if you are representative of the calber of person that represents the Community Scoop as Badge FAQ editor, I guess I won't be back again. Give you a title, and it goes to your head. Besides, I've come to the conclusion it was all to get your post count up. Size does matter, eh, Snow_Job?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Ok you two, time to relax. Snow, I've responded directly to Jwee via PM. I didn't want to drag the thread down the fiery path of flameishnessness and stuff. Jwee, as I told you, I don't think Snow is attacking you per se, he may just be a little short fused overall, we've gotten some not too happy stuff too. I'll have to ask if there's a 'Wrong Place, Wrong Time' badge...

But you know what, the why's don't really matter. We all like the Scoop. We all like the game. Overall, the issue itself is resolved as far as it can be right now. Now, hug and be friends or I'll fire up the massive orbital space cannons of doom and totally blow this thread up!

Yes, I'm trying, probably poorly, to use humor. Deal with it.
  3. I'd only consider the last two editions to have an art section per se. Before that, we were trying to highlight artists but all we did was stick a small pic in that linked to their DA page. Then TA joined up and he did interviews and a bunch of stuff.

It seems like there's something new each week too. Wait till see what else we're working on.

  4. We don't want anyone left out either. But there's only so much that'll fit in one edition. If there's someone you'd like featured, give a shout to TA and ask if he's got that person already lined up. He's a real nice guy and always open to suggestions.
  5. Ok people, I have to ask... about the horoscopes.

I fired up my own star chart program this week and assigned the existing signs to each AT instead of rewording random stuff from a few newspapers.

    Better? Worse? Don't care?

It's killing me here. I gotta know. Also, if anyone's vaguely interested in the details, all heroes were born in Providence and all villains were born in Hispaniola. Also, you were all born in 2002.
  6. [ QUOTE ]
I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm diggin' all of this art exposure, between the great single panels and covers, to the full on interviews. Glad to see the comic book side of our lil' CoX world is still getting its due!

But what about the WRITERS, eh?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Write something and send it in.

I'd suggest sending it to Marcian, Lemur or Hertz.
  7. I've stayed away from this because I hate Myspace with a passion that burns... yada yada... blah blah... yackity schmackity.

Even though, the problem with my laptop melting was probably caused by my son (who has a Myspace page) clicking on one of the ebil banner ads somewhere there, I don't care. I hate Myspace. It's ebil. It melted my laptop, which is still in the shop for repair.

But I didn't speak up because, well, if the powers that be felt this was a good move, I didn't want to sour it. 7 pages later (max view) and I'm apparently not alone in my loathing. While I freely admit my feelings towards Myspace aren't completely logical, that doesn't change my feelings. No more than declaring I no longer believe in couches. Tomorrow morning, my couch will still be here.

What's the point to my ramblings? Glad you asked!

If NCSoft wishes to engage in this particulary business practice, I can not sway them. I am but one voice. But, I can implore them to visit similar sites and other 'net based forms of 'getting the word out' so to speak. It is, after all, a bit late to close the barn door, the cows are already out. But, hit all the sites. Make RSS feeds and other technical jargon. All that techie stuff. Go for it. I will not begrudge cheap advertising.

    I need a name!

Mae was quite a pistol, never backing down or anything. She's the one who said "Is that a gun in your pocket or are you happy to see me..." And she did a few westerns, I think she did a couple of the stereotypical 'saloon gal who's rough and gruff but has a heart of gold' type of character.

Anyway, some of her characters were Flower Belle Lee, Peaches O'Day, Mavis Arden, The Frisco Doll and Ruby Carter. Those were all in the 1930's so I'm not sure if they'd still be IP. But, sometimes seeing a name gives me a creative burst of my own in a different direction.

Super hero'y.... hrmmm.... The Smashin Belle?

Nah... sounds like a wrestler... I'll get back with something.

Back! I went through one of the random generators and thse don't sound horrible... to me.

    Acerbic Dame
    Sarcastic Gem
    Cement Nymph
    Bellow Sultana
    Harsh Chaos
    Fatality Queen
    Fearless Doll

Here's the site if you want to see what else it gives. Granted, I can go through a couple of pages before I find one I like but that could just be me being picky.

    I need a name!

The background sounds an awful lot like Mae West's personality. Do you want a real sounding name or a hero'y sounding name?

Unfortunately you can't edit inline HTML. Those errors will have to stay, and we'll just have to do better next time. Unless you're volunteering to join the staff as a proofreader.

She's a demon who used to bring luck to pirates, but since she can't find any pirates anymore, she gives luck to the Bucs instead. (Please, no comments on the Bucs performance, yes I know, I just don't want to talk about it :P)

I'm a frothing Bucs fan, so all her bots are named after my favorite players.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    That's ten shades of cool.

Please tell me there's something in there about the old stadium and the curse.

Oh and she is helping! We aren't creamsicle orange anymore!
  12. Flight poses are easily my favorite.

Yes, I'm -that- shallow and easily amused.
  13. Did someone mention the Buccaneers?

    No? Yes?

    Whichever, GO BUCS!

While the comics were nice and all, until The Cyrus Thompson Center is built in King's Row, they will remain seperate from the game; thus meaningless.

There was much requesting of the Cyrus Thompson Center. And yanno, it's ok if ya'll (devs and stuff) don't want to say it's going in at some point, but pleasepleasepleasepleasepleasepleaseplease put it in.

    Thank you.

Welcome to the back yard of Essex, Soviet, and a massive crew of some of the most inane (insane) roleplay on the boards.

May God help you to leave here with your brains intact.

You're assuming we had them intact to begin with.

Oh I know what PWNZ is.

You may not have been active on the forums prior to the inception of Forum Games. Trust me, we've got the patent on lunatic threads.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Aha. I remember seeing "Ask A Stupid Question" and "Showdown At The Litter Box", and after a few months, I saw them again and thought: "wait, why are they still here?"

    [/ QUOTE ]

And The Thunderdome (which, since everyone else stopped posting, I win by default. Nyah.)

    Oh boatloads of redundant junk.

    Bwahaha!

I wonder if anyone still has a copy of one of the old TCMR's...

Did you know, if you time it just right, you can do a triple post? Also, if you open up several browser windows at once and post in them all, you will win the weekly TCMR.

Perhaps you should log into the support center and check the status of the original ticket, sending multiples just bogs them down further.

This will help raise awareness about how great the artists are here! I mean, I was, like, totally blown away, man.

    Great work, Athy!

    [/ QUOTE ]

Err, nope. Mantid has the excellent html skills that put all that together. All I did was provide a few links.

Any 'kudos' and such should go to Mantid and the artists for their amazing work. Which, by the way, I'm still completely blown away with how well it turned out.

Also, a little info for next, I've got one artist who's already agreed, one or two more would be awesome guys. Also, since I approached the first three (one didn't get back to with permission before we posted so that's who's going in next week for sure and no, no hints. I like surprises) I thought it would be better to ask who wants in. I have a hell of a time picking and I don't want any hints of favoritism. Which, I couldn't help with this one but, I think those are easily a lot of people's favorites, at least, I hope so.

So, any suggestions for two more for next week?
