  2. Don't be too proud of this technological terror you've constructed. The ability to mix batter is insignificant next to the power of the Force.

That's because it's not the Cap suit. It's a stuntman riding the bike and his suit is made to resemble the Cap suit but it's got all the padding and such he requires as a stuntman. It's not meant to bear up under close scrutiny.

  6. Thanks, I'll try that out. It's kind of frustrating to have to wait so long after I stop moving before i can activate the stance. My concept character is one that feels her powers make her superior and goes so far as to hover rather than share the ground with those she considers beneath her. Villain stance 2 really adds to the haughtiness I want to depict.

I'm hoping that if they ever do power pool customization (I'd love to suppress the flying "cloud") that we can choose animations as well, as you can with martial arts or super strength. It would be great to be able to pick a hover stance or even your fly pose with the costume create rather than worry about binds and macros.
  7. Is there a way to bind one of the new stances with activating hover? I tried it and I get the stance but it's immediately interrupted. And when coasting to a halt there is a noticeable lag before I can activate the stance by itself.

Any chance this updates come with I19 or soon?
Couldn't agree more. And I wouldn't count on this any time soon, especially if they have to overhaul the menu to accommodate this option. I'd guess issue 20 at the earliest. I remember lots of people getting excited over the Going Rogue announcement and expecting it to still come out in 2009, this will likely be no different considering the snail pace at which we get new costumes.

    Thanks again, NS!
If they do that, I would hope that they'd add some sort of animation customization there as they did with powers like martial arts. Imagine choosing to have one of the new stances as your default hover pose, or actually choosing your flight pose through the costume creator rather than a clumsy emote. I've tried binding a stance to activation of hover, but the stance immediately deactivates fir some reason.

Otherwise, do what you need to do and approach the players in a "this is what we're gonna do-no questions asked" fashion. IMO
To quote Robin Williams in Awakenings, "I would agree with you if you were right." It was indeed an open and honest objective platform, much preferred to the "take it or leave it" attitude that seems to bring things like the Party Pack. However, the discussion clearly supported option 1 by a 2 to 1 margin. It wasn't for show. The majority supported his original intention, yet that gets ignored. We now will either not get as many retextures as we could have, or it will take a great deal longer since they will waste 50% of that time with the menu.

Totally ignoring the fact that he came right out and said that a menu overhaul would take away 50% of the man hours that could be spent overhauling old textures. My opinion is not more valid than any other, clearly you seem to think yours is. My point is, the majority (by a 2 to 1 margin the last I looked) wanted option 1. Noble Savage himself supported option 1. So instead we bow to the minority, what sense does that make? Clearly my opinion was shared by around 66%, apparently OUR opinions are completely invalid. Get off your high horse.
  12. So what was even the point of asking if you're just going to go against your original idea and cave in to the minority? "How dare you make my character look better!" I think having outdated textures sitting next to the new upgraded ones is just going to bloat the menu ridiculously.
  13. Regardless of how they are implemented, I hope that the upgraded pieces are being worked on as we speak.
  14. I recently came back after a prolonged break and I can definitely see a dramatic drop in dev posting. The community reps seem to only post if they want announce something. Isn't the job of the CR to be involved with the community, not ignore them?

The only dev that seems to post with any frequency is Noble Savage, which I appreciate greatly. Unfortunately the devs have taken a "head in the sand" approach to any large issues that arise in the community. This goes back to the advent of Mission Architect debacle all the way to the Party Pack concerns that have recently been raised. All we get is some announcement that raises hackles and they sit in stone faced silence while we beg for more information. I won't even get into the whole CHVC mess, that got me so livid that I washed my hands of that section entirely.

I don't buy this busy excuse either. They were busy in the past and still found time to address concerns. Is it so much to ask the community rep to actually interact with the community? Am I being too presumptuous to actually expect them to do their job?
  15. Definitely option 1, the old pieces can really be an eyesore with the horrid blurriness when compared to the new stuff. The creator would be way too cluttered with two of everything, unless they were all submenued with the new piece as default. I'm really stoked about even the idea that the old stuff would get updated. I may sound like a perv, but I like how the newer tops with skin pieces give a sense of cleavage. Even the simple tank top looks sexier in that regard than the older pieces, I'd love to see that applied to all the tops with skin. And those fishnets are horrifically blurry compared to something like the hearts plus pieces. Option 1 all the way.

Is this something that would happen gradually or all at once? Any possibility of some making it into issue 19 or would it be issue 20 at the earliest? Thanks for asking for our input.
  16. Don't know why I even bothered looking at the times, these are always scheduled so that second shifters are shut out.

There would be absolutely no question about the intent or enforceability of an actual signed contractual NDA the player had to physically sign and send to NCSoft. Because an actual nondisclosure agreement is essentially a contract between the two parties, violating an NDA is a breach of contract that theoretically exposes the violator to almost unlimited liability. Its not the same thing as violating the EULA.

It might just be a more elaborate electronic acknowledgement of the NDA rather than the informal one in all the other closed betas. Or if they are really serious about it, it might be a "download this and sign it and send it back to us" kind of thing. It depends on how seriously they intend to protect the integrity of the I20 beta.
There's no way they'll actually have mailed in NDA signatures, that's just absurd on a colossal level. It will simply be an electronic signature rather than the normal "signing in means you agree to abide by the NDA" method. Electronic signature is much quicker and doesn't involve sorting masses of snail mail. I don't see how so many jumped to the conclusion that it would be an actual physical signature.

Take all the time you need but make sure to keep Jay busy as heck! Folks really want more costume options - and soon
I think the main reason Jay is so busy is the mention of updating the old costume pieces, that's a large undertaking. I really look forward to it, many old pieces look bland compared to the newer ones.

    Updating old costumes

Sounds a lot like a 2.0 upgrade to me. Wasn't there a rumor some time back about a costume creator 2.0?

I have very little faith that the thread you're referring to will be any different than the quite
lengthy and almost completely ignored costume request thread we've already had for quite some time. Nice way to promote ideas, too bad they will more than likely be dismissed just as they've always been.
  21. What's the deal? Are the new costume pieces Going Rogue specific and not part of issue 18? I logged in and can't see any new pieces in the creator. I bought my copy of GR from Gamestop and have to wait another hour for the store to open before I get my code. If the new costume pieces are locked to GR upgrades, then I don't see much else for a full blown issue.

Of course the fact that both games of the direct competition will offer it from day one had nothing to do with them finally getting off their bums and doing something about it and conveniently timing it to coincide with one of those releases. And probably we won't see Going Rogue until it's time for DCUO to release.
  23. After 5 years, I'm used to the old forums and miss them already. I liked being able to view all my subcategories at one glance, more quickly selecting between stuff like Dev Digest or Comic/Hero Culture. I may get used to these new forums in time, but I don't like the change.

GR probably won't be out this year. I think I was just blinded by my desire for it to come out soon when I posted before. Stepping back and looking at everything from a trully unbiased stance....I'd bet on 2010.

    My bad.
