Bloody Bay - PvP actually goes on here? I thought the only point of this zone was to supply Shivans for the Recluse SF. How do you actually kill people in here, brawl them to death?
Sirens Call - Have to say most of my PvP happens here. Personally, i'd rather it didn't but you have to go where the action is and given that 99% of PvP builds seem to be Spine scrappers and they're so good up to lvl 30 this is where most seems to happen. That said, SC has some of the worse PvP attitudes in the game on show there and the sheer number of NPC mobs is also annoying.
Warburg - This is my favourite one without a doubt. Heroes don't have their epics that unbalance hero/villain PvP so much and there are no real 'uber' builds here. NPC mobs are scarce and more of an irritation than the real threat they are in Sirens. I also like the fact heroes can fight heroes.
Recluse Victory - Callingthis a PvP zone is an insult TBH. It seems to be the exclusive domain of the badger or easy XP turret farmers who want the easy route to levelling their characters. Even trying to PvP in there frequently sees you get greeted with cries of moral outrage for killing someone in a PvP zone. -

Thermal corruptors are definately a blappers best friend
[/ QUOTE ]
Well mine bloody wasn't
In my favour, it was the first time i've ever PvP'd with my thermal and it was a completely new spec i'd only tested in a one on one against Max but I came out of the match with the opinion that thermals suck.
It was me and Jum's Blapper up against another blapper and a mind/emp troller and we were just helpless. TK had Jum pinned in the corner for pretty much the entire match. I kept running past and slapping thaw on him but it was taking more than two stacks to allow him to break it and everytime I applied one, the damn blapper hit me with total focus.
Warmth is also the worst damn heal i've ever seen for PvP. I was legging it from the blapper and he'd hit me and drop me into the red leaving me two choices, carry on running and hope he doesn't blast me or heal. I tried both and EVERY time I healed, the rooting on warmth allowed him to catch me or get back in line of sight and finish me off. Compared to their empath who could happily heal while on the move and for a much higher amount of HP
I also had two occasions where the heal fired and healed Jum... After I had died
I think we lost 10-6 in the end but that makes the match seem a lot closer than it actually was as the other team were all over us from start to finish and won because of two simple things - The stupidly high MAG of TK and the horrid rooting of warmth that just made me a sitting duck in the small map.
The crash after 4 minutes didn't help as we were winning the first fight and it gave them time to change insps and tactics and get a much better map for them.
Losing isn't annoying but it's the complete helplessness we had during the fight that was so frustrating. -

running toggles/using powers is what eats away your end. It can be perma without hasten but if it misses its a bit of a blow.
[/ QUOTE ]
Is that from experience or stats? I only ask as me and Max Khaos had a fight ealier and were both hitting it. It didn't seem to be anywhere near perma to me and the recharge on it is pretty damn long. -
Has anyone had a go at arena on test since the Halloween patch?
I remember another event a while ago on test that had to be canned because of a patch on there which caused arena problems so may be worth someone checking it first.
Sod's law that a patch comes just a s big test event is planned -

Hopefully our Corrs will have leveled up a bit more before the TF
[/ QUOTE ]
Trust me, it may be better if they don't level up. At 47 and 46 they can both be LK'd to a 50 and if the 46 can get to 47, will be on fresh SO's. If the 47 dings 48 though, that is the worse level for doing the SF. SO's aren't fresh and will be up against +6 lvl AV's. Basically, if they can't gurantee 49, better to stay at 47.
On the Rad front, they do make a huge difference but if you have enough other buffers in general, can be done without.
My ideal team would be.
*/Stone Brute(Taunt is a must have)
*/Kin Corruptor
*/Rad Corruptor
*/Dark (Preferably Corruptor, though MM's aren't far behind)
I'd then probably round off with a second Brute, a couple of thermals for heals and shields and another debuffer(probably */Ice Corruptor)
The team rez from a */Dark can make a big difference between sucess and failure. Only area of concern I can really see is having two */trap MM's. It's a sad fact that when it comes to MM's, the pets are near useless and it's the secondary that matters. Traps does have some useful powers but not anything that's going to make a huge difference against all those AV's at once when you have to rush them. One is OK as it gives you some options but two is going to put more burden on the rest of the team, compared to a */dark or */FF.
Make sure you have a designated targetter with a bind set up. Two or three people picking different targets is death.
I know that when we started doing it with E.V.I.L only teams those of us who'd been in the farming teams found it very tough going from well oiled teams to an SG only one(in truth, I think those of us who had been farming were getting a bit blase about it). I actually thought we were going to fail our first one and it was a bit of a pain going from a 2 1/2 hour run to a 4 1/2 one! That said, once you finish it that first time, it becomes easier. People can explain to the team until they're blue in the face how it should work but it's only when you've got a team where nearly everyone has completed at least once you get that natural feel for it.
Good luck with it guys and if you need any more tips, Frosthound and Max Khaos are also very experienced at the RSF now. -
Unfortunately, the rules of the PvP zones do allow it. That said, attakcing or TP'ing someone from a safe zone who has the AFK sign overhead is hardly a good kill
-
No MM will survive more than 2 seconds as they'll not have the end to get their pets out before they're dead and rated duels, with tactical start, are too heavily geared in favour of end drainers or regens.
Even realistically, does spiderman turn up for a fight and have to wait until 5 minutes into a battle before he's able to use his powers?
EDIT: Reads Stalk_obot's post and realises he's not the only one to spot the obvious hole in this challenge. -
Already posted on the 1 AT forums but count Crimson Vengeance my BS/Regen scrapper in.

He he he, my favourite power in PvP came into force again last night with some mouthy idiot on the end of it in Sirens.
I entered SC and it was very quiet, due to the ungodly hour I was on, with only about 3 people in there when I spot a blaster trying to clear one of the hotspots(Is this how heroes keep control of SC with late night 'sneak' hotspot clearing!). I have stealth on so he clearly can't see me and just as I move in to attack, the mobs start getting the better of him and he tries to fly off. Without even thinking, I drop Snow Storm on him to stop him getting away... The side effect being that he drops into the NPC's and they kill him before he can even get a shot off.
Cue, broadcast abuse. I try to be polite and apologise explaining I was trying to kill him myself but this guy's attitude stinks so I wait on top of one of the more visible buildings for him to return and "teach me a lesson in PvP". Sure enough, he comes zooming in... Snow Storm, he goes plummeting down.
This is followed by several shouts of 'coward' and other such names as I actually don't try to attack him and just /e ledgesit on the building looking down at him, not responding to his broadcast and chuckling to myself. Eventually he works out to run out of range to get the snow storm toggle off. A few seconds pass and he comes flying in again...Snow Storm once more, you get the picture.
I think this went on for about 15 minutes and I must have dropped him about 10 times. It was so bad that towards the end I was actually letting him get within touching distance of the rooftop before doing it.
I then get a tell from the only other person in the zone, a stalker after his 5 hour badge, telling me how funny he was finding it all. The stalker then joins my team and we come up with a little idea so I holler over broadcast.
"I'm going AFK for 5 minutes now and I bet you still can't kill me"
The AFK banner goes up over head and the blaster comes flying in and tries to blap me to death. One free hit and i'm almost down... AS, dead blaster. I then 'return' from my AFK and put out over broadcast.
"Told you, even when AFK you can't kill me. Glad you taught me such a 'PvP Lesson'. G'night"
I would post the chat log here as it really was funny seeing him get more and more wound up and try everything he could to provoke me into fighting rather than just -flying him but some of the language(and spelling) he used was pretty atrocious -
Well, i'm planning on being on tonight from about 19.00-19.30 and just going to grind through as many missions as possible.
The plan is to just keep going and going for as long as possible, with as big a team as possible.
No attention will be payed to completing arcs, badges etc, etc. We'll just be ploughing through whatever missions we have available that will give us the quickest XP(So, avoiding annoying Mu ones and gobbling up lovely freak ones where possible)
I suggest all those interested and around the mid-40's meet at the trainer in Grandville around 19.30 tonight -

The Freedom Phalanx is, in my opinion, the superior of the two books
[/ QUOTE ]
Apart from the fact that it shows what a bunch of weaklings the FP are
SPOILER ALERT
...Especially Sister Psyche, can she actually be any more lame as a super hero?
Manticore's blatant personality transplant from a certain Dark Knight also annoyed me a little.
"Hmm, he uses gadgets and is a good fighter. I know, lets make him a gruff, work alone playboy millionaire who is a hero because his father was killed by a villain. It's the most original idea ever!"
Positron is clearly shown to be an energy blaster, not the Rad defender/blaster hybrid he appears to be in game(Surely not a case of Cryptic screwing with the background of a toon just to make him harder in game).
Also, why in the Recluse SF does Miss Liberty state that her belt is responsible for her powers when the novel clearly shows that's not the case and I had no idea until I read the book that she's meant to be Statesmans daughter
The way the villains in it are all linked together also seems a bit rushed, like trying to stick a square peg in a round hole.
I also think the first book sucks as Marcus Cole goes from being a profiteering looter to some modern day paladin with no real reason explained for the complete change of character other than him getting some powers. While you could see he was never going to be 'evil' his character up to then was definitely geared around him being more likely to become a super powered mercenary of some sort with his services going to the highest bidder(within certain moral limits) as he was shown to be entirely materialistic
END SPOILER
As I said before, they're solidly, not spectacularly, written and are good books to go through if you're a player of the game.
For non players, they're just a little too simplistic and there are some pretty big plot/motivation holes -
The big problem here is that all the heroes are going to want it at 50 and all the villains are going to want it at 40.
Epics have too many powers that can transform a PvP build while Patrons don't.
While i'd love to see the debate rage on and on and hear everyone argue, if you allow that to happen people will get annoyed, fall out and the event end up in flame hell.
As organiser, I really would suggest you pick the level and if people don't want to fight at that level, they won't enter.
On a personal note, I like fighting at 40 regardless of if i'm on the hero or villain side as some of the epics are just too powerful in certain builds and even I feel ashamed when I toggle on FA and punch through someones 'uber' power like Elude on my scrapper.
Villain entries would also drop quite a bit if it was fought at 50 as well I think. -
They're OK, not great.
Basically, for a non CoH player, they won't be any good as they're not literary masterpieces. They are good reads for a player though as they fill in a lot of background info on the CoX universe(though there are a few errors/contradictions in them)
If I was to mark them out of 10, I would give a 7 for players of the game and a 4 for other people. -
This has been raised time and time again so I can give you all the info in a handy snapshot.
- Both servers have an almost equal number of players and activity
- PvP on both is pretty active. Overall impression is that Sirens on Union is a bit busier than Defiant whereas Defiant may be a touch busier in Warburg
- Only other difference is that Union is the unofficial RP server. That doesn't mean everyone on Union RP's all the time(quite the opposite), just that RP is a little easier to find on Union.
Other than those very minute differences, there's not much to choose between them. -
I'm lazy so just going to post one that I used earlier today and you can pick out the important parts
Not sure what server you're on but I can recommend some good SG's on Union.
The 1 AT coalition - 6 Seperate SG's all in coalition with each other with one SG for each of the different AT's, such as Team GBH for scrappers, Armoured Core for tanks etc.
Last Line Of Defence - A great SG for the casual player. They span 3-4 SG's at the moment and are some of the most fun, laid back guys i've played with since the launch of CoH. They also have the liveliest global channel in the game.
CoV wise, there are really only two that I can recommend.
Bloodline is my own VG and I could do the hard sell here or you could look at our SG spotlight found here:
http://eu.cityofvillains.com/news/article/2908/
Only thing I will say about us is we're not hugely into PvP which can be a bit of a drawback.
The other one I would recommend is EVIL. These guys are probably one of the most active VG's on Union and are a good laugh too. They have some form of SG PvP going on almost every week and if you ever do fancy PvP, a quick holler over SG chat will find some people willing to join you. Only drawback for these is that because they are so active, clean outs of people who've not been on in a while do happen quite regularly. I'd say you need to be pretty certain you will log on at least once every 10-14 days to keep your place.
If any of these do sound like your cup of tea, drop me a tell on @kinslayer in game and I'll put you in touch with the relevant leaders. -
OK, i'm posting on here as my second Corruptor took over a month to get from 44 to 45 and he's taken almost the same amount of time to make barely a handful of bars towards 46.
So, why is that and what am I looking for?
The simple reason is a complete lack of teams around that level. Whenever I log on there are a few people who are 48-49 pushing for 50 but almost no one around the 45-47 bracket or people low level alting and getting a team has been like getting blood from a stone. Alting is fun and i've been enjoying re-visiting some of the earlier levels but it's just a distraction and stopping me from doing what I really should be, getting my 4th lvl 50.
In short, I want my Corruptor at 50 within two weeks as I have an Empath I have to get to 50 ASAP over on CoH. So, if there are any other's out there in a similar situation who want to run hell for leather to 50, stick a post here with your global so we can try and get a shortlist of who is actually on and playing in the graveyard that Grandville has become.
I'm getting depressed logging in with Exo only to log out 20 minutes later after searching in vain for a team -
I can say with 100% certainty that i've done raids where I've been very outnumbered when attacking and defending and have never had the raid TP disable itself.
Anyone from EVIL can also confirm this as we had a raid against the Heorde a couple of weeks ago where we had about 4-5 more people than them and when the raid began we ALL entered at once. -
Only question I have is if you're only going to duo with this, why 3 recharge in Forge? It doesn't stack on itself so you shouldn't need 3 to keep one person perma forged.
-
[ QUOTE ]
The size of the attacking team is limited to the size of the defending one. But there's no minimum : if nobody uses the raid TP to go to your base, then nobody comes.
[/ QUOTE ]
The team sizes aren't limited at all by how many on the other side. The only limit is the 16 person maximum but there's nothing to stop a 16 on 1 or vice versa -
I saw the thread before Max did
Die Klip actually sent me a PM a few days ago asking to join bloodline but it was just a few hours too late as our last spot had gone earlier -
[ QUOTE ]
The simplest base set up you can get is probably the following.
Entrance
Vault, with IoP base
Power Room
Control Room
Workshop
Med Room
2 TP rooms
Apart from the entrance and vault, all the other rooms will and should have an anchor in. You also have to have the power/control for the base to function
[/ QUOTE ]
As Bru has mentioned, if you go with the set up I detailed above with all the rooms the 2*2 ones, you can fit a raid ready base on the smallest plot. I'm guessing you've gone for the 'corridor' type control room instead as that's a cheaper option and may be your problem?
With this method, A perfectly square base with the rooms in 3 rows of 3 will give you the required rooms for a raid. -
Under 'Room Details' there are several different styles of steps including wooden, metal and stone.
-
[ QUOTE ]
And, with the new destinations available for TP, quite a lot of SG have sold their raid TP to get more 'standard' destinations (and are therefore, not raid-ready anymore).
[/ QUOTE ]
Umm, as I've already mentioned, you don't have to have a raid TP to be raided. Only if you want to raid the other group -
So, we've gone from 'in the latest patch fire is going to be -fly' and 'this is in prelude to fear being removed from the game' to no hint anywhere of fear being removed and to just two specific fire powers having -fly.(yes, fire does cover more than two powers)
Given that both the powers having -fly are hold/immob's anyway and it always has looked ridiculous seeing someone 'held' in mid air when logic dictates if you couldn't activate any powers, how can you still be flying!
I hardly think it's a groundbreaking change. The only thing that really concerns me is if the -fly is applied on a successful hit or if it has to brek the mez protection to take effect, even then it's an inconvenience and nothing more given the number of -fly powers out there already
Still, the complete lack of information and wild assumptions made on that basis until someone actually dug up the evidence was amusing -
Well, I have no qualms about undercutting both Max & Death. I will offer the tech same salvage as Death for half his listed prices. I think the pair of them are ripping people off as that puts an inf value of about 50 mill on salvage we have little use for
I will also swap for arcane salvage if people want as i'm willing to collect that.
At last count, we had over 100 tech power/material, 40 prototype/hardware and about 20 experimental. We only have a handful of software though.
I'm also open to negotioations as none of the stuff is much use to me and coalition VG's will also get some bonus rubbish thrown in.
Send me a tell on @kinslayer if interested in buying or trading.
