  1. Think i'm with the majority here on the all out damage route. Firing speed on turrets is OK and while ACC may not be great, they do hit regularly. The damage boosters however will even get a stone brute worried.

    One acc in there may be down to personal preference. I've been on the receiving end of a choke point with two turrets backed up with the maximum number of damage boosters and it was not pretty.

    (On a seperate note, wondering if buffs like tactics apply to turrets?)
  2. Ahh, that's an error. I dropped stealth for frostwork in what was my only change to the planned build(didn't realise I couldn't run that and arctic fog at the same time)
  3. OK, I've been levelling and PvP'ing my Ice/Ice Corruptor for a bit now and I do love playing him but have a few areas that are troubling me a bit. The problem is that i'm not really sure how to improve them and while I annoy the hell out of players and pick up some kills, I do die a lot. My lvl 1-40 build is below:

    I took Scirroco as my patron to gain access to the all important Power Sink and now i'm trying to weed out the weaknesses I still have.

    First off, it really is a squishy. A lot of people will target me as soon as I start dropping the slows on them as they really are a killer, especially for regens who take particular exception to me. The fact it doesn't have a heal and i'm often a high priority target is apparent very quickly unless I have my own personal healer backing me up(which team mates get the hump with when I'm monopolising the thermal).

    Second, I'm not sure which powers to pick as my last three and where to put my slots.

    Medicine Pool - With a pool still available, I could fit aid self in. I have no experience with this power but assume it will need 6 slots so will have to take a preliminary power at 44 and aid self at 47 to enble me to get the 6 slots in.

    Patron Pool - I have the armour, hold and pet available. Not interested in the pet but the other two could be useful. Could 4 slot the hold if I take Medicine Pool and fit it in at 49, to stack with freeze ray, no idea what the animation and rooting are like though.

    Leaping - another area for me is that I don't often use SJ as it means taking off CJ which is my immob protection. I could drop it altogether but that would mean losing acrobatics as well. While the mez on acro is not worth bothering about, not sure how much I will miss the knockback protection until it's gone. This change will allow me to fit the med pool in a lot earlier though, in time for Sirens but I will have to find 4 leaping slots to split between CJ/Hurdle as Acro and SJ are unslotted.

    Other pools - Could look at another pool such as the presence one for it's fears or TP for TP foe. None of them seem like obvious choices but can be useful in certain situations.

    More Primary/Secondary Pools - The obvious gaps in my main powers are the area specific AoE's, Ice Storm/Blizzard/Sleet. I've avoided these as animation on them is long so by the time you drop them, the targets have normally fled. However, they are all pretty powerful and if I drop Snow Storm on someone, that could slow them enough for me to use these.

    At the moment, I'm completely undecided so any input would be appreciated.

    Insp/No Insp

    I don't really have a problem with insps at all as the only ones that really make a difference are BF's and a good troller can spam you enough to wipe your supply out in no time(I'll never forget my integration running scrapper burning through almost an entire tray in the first three minutes of an arena match against Double)

    Not too sure what I think of people leaving zones every 5 minutes to go and get a new set though.
  5. Bludd, just an update from me. I may be able to bring along my Ice/Ice corruptor instead of my fire/thermal.

    It all depends on what will be more useful, the lvl 50 fire/therm or a lvl 45 ice/ice but I will need to know in advance so I can do the nuke/shivan run on the relevant toon.
  6. I'm going to be having a stab at the Recluse SF Sunday evening.

    What's the catch? I have no intention of completing it

    As soon as we get to the Vindicators mission, we'll be bailing out and are doing it purely for the lvl 53 SO's and crazy XP/inf it gives out up until then.

    For the record, a lvl 47 doing it up to there get's around 8 bars so doubled up, you're looking at a lvl and a half for about 2.5 hours of play

    I'll be on @kinslayer if anyone wants to snap up a space before they go.
  7. Take a look at Last Line Of Defence on www.rikti.co.uk

    They're a fun, laid back group more about the social side that power gaming or being an uber group. The other plus is that they have a LOT of players who are on in the day and are one of the more active day time SG's out there.

    But surely the 1.5 mill they've handed out(for a 75 member VG) as a surprise bonus is more than you could have expected to get in one weekend anyway?

    Think Bloodline lost about 100K as I got rid of a few dead alts the other day to make room for new members but the LLOD PvP group has been devastated by this. I basically removed almost every toon in there taking us from 40+ to just 6 members.

    Just as well i've got nothing planned for that VG at the moment.

    (Speaking of which, feel free to take B.A. out. It's officially dead now and I only have a placeholder alt in there so no point wasting his prestige)

  14. OK, Xanthus has asked me if it's likely we can get a 16 man PvP team together for a PvP raid on the test server.

    Date and details to be arranged but just thought I'd gauge interest first and also see who's willing to design a base on there.

    You get 36 mill off the bat and IIRC, salvage now copies over when you copy your character(will test this)

    If that is the case, we can all raid salvage bins, copy over, then put everything back in the salvage bin. Only real thing missing then will be SG badges.

    Just drop a post in here if you're interested, Heroes or villains and if it looks a go, will finalise the details with Xanth.

  16. Even though I won't be taking part now for the reasons some of you know, I had a little look round Eden the other night to try and see how to prevent the deaths we had en-route to Hami last time.

    I couldn't check the exact distance but I 'think' it may be possible to recall friend to Coward's Hill. May be worth finding a flier with TP friend who can TP you all there then form the taunt team up once there(unless one of the taunt team has fly/TP friend)

    Failing that, the problem last time was caused by two factors:

    - Flying too high. The swarms pretty much cover the flight ceiling and there's no need to fly that high.

    - Rubber banding on Group Fly. Even though we all set to follow on Dutch, group fly doesn't seem to maintain equal distance at all times, meaning some fell behind and out of the group fly range. Slow and steady is the way forward.

    The only other tip is to NOT use your self rez trying to get there. It's important that self rez is available during deployment so you're up and taunting straight away.

  18. Unlike DP, it doesn't have a heal component and is just a max HP booster.

    Was very dismayed with it when I first got it and vainly tryed to use it to heal team mates in PvP

    Still a very useful power though.
  19. I think the fact so many of the main PvP'ers from Defiant have now rolled toons on Union for a bit more PvP action says it all.

    Certainly in the run up to I7, the PvP zones were packed to bursting point at times and a few events in Sirens were forcing second spawns of the zone due to the volume of players there

  21. OK, stepping in as peace maker here as I've teamed with and have a lot of time for both of you and don't want to see this get out of hand.

    Xanthus(and Cap Morgan) - These guys have come up with a great format and with the heat wave/world cup and a few unavaoidable teething problems have done a good job IMO. Yes, certain things could have been better but with the no shows that have happened throughout, I personally don't blame them for not busting their balls to fix every little mistake that's gone wrong when the people taking part can't be bothered.

    Stalk-obot - Stalk, I know you were there for your match and losing a life because the other 5 didn't turn up when you arranged the match was a little on the harsh side but Xanthus was in a no win situation there. If he received a tell from you on the night, before the next weeks matches were scheduled or when the match was originally scheduled, i'm sure you would have kept your life. Outside of that, he simply can't accept a PM after the round was drawn saying you were there but no one else was. I don't know the specifics but I'm pretty sure from what i've heard the problem was he never received word from either of the teams involved until the deadline/next round draw was past.

    This has been a very good tournament and I think the only failing has been in that Xanthus and Cap have relied on people entering actually turning up on the night of the matches every week. When this hasn't happened through no fault of their own, they've tried to be strict, fair AND as accomodating as possible within reason and had to improvise. I REALLY don't think it's fair to have a go at them.

    The problems that have occurred have been mainly linked to the players who couldn't be bothered to turn up for their matches and take a little bit of responsibility themselves.

    Your case Stalk was just an unfortunate side effect of finding the fine line between being reasonable and being fair. Xanthus could have let you keep your life which would have been the fairest thing but it also would have been a can of worms.

    I could have not turned up for one of my matches, found out everyone else also didn't bother then sneakily claimed 'I was there but no one else was. Give me my life back'.

    In short, don't start picking each other's responses apart as we all know that just escalates things(whenever you see a post with four or five different quotes, eahc one with seperate repsonse, you know it's going to end in tears ) and accept that there was a slight gap in the procedures for no shows and match rescheduling that we've all now seen, will be noted and taken care of for future events and put it down to experience.

    The organisers have had stress and rubbish as a result and Stalk-obot has lost a life he probably shouldn't have but this was a dry run and things have been learnt from it.

    BTW, feel free to tell me to butt out and get lost as I've teamed with you both enough to put up with it
  22. IIRC, they're called Demon Heart and Weapon of Mu. The 25% drop chance is pretty accurate if playing in SG mode so if you're not getting them, you may want to send a petition.
  23. Count me in with Kinslayer my lvl 50 fire/thermal Corruptor.

    As Doc said, you may want to reserve the right to pick the team rather than just take people in sign up order. More than two under 49-50's will have a big impact(there's a lot of running in this SF so LK range is dangerous at best) and you really want brutes and buffer/debuffers making up the bulk of the team.

    Finally, I'd probably INSIST on the Warburg chem nuke at the very least. Everyone i've spoken to so far has cited these as a huge factor in success. Shivans and other nukes can probably be optional, especially as the shivans are lucky to last amore than a few seconds and are just used as alpha strike fodder.

    There is a slight problem with the Hamidon Taunt team for the 24th July raid in that I am no longer willing to lead it. While I'll not go into the specifics, it will be impossible for me to be taunt team leader for a third Hami raid due to a communication issue.

    I've PM'd Babel with my reasons and just want to wish the guys who do make up the taunt team the best of luck, especially those who've been on my team for the last two I've headed up.

    Just to recap, the team I finalised was

    Golden Golem
    Sara Aegis
    Rooks
    Jessica Raven
    Emberwilde
    Idris
    Dutch Barbarian

    While Babel will now need to find another taunt team leader, who is perfectly entitled to pick his/her own team, I would like to make my suggestions.

    First off, keep Dutch Barbarian in the tema no matter what. The worth of his group fly should never be undervalued. Second, I'd ask Golden Golem to take my place as taunt team leader as he was on the last successful team and knows what needs to be done. Looking at those who signed up, I'd probably put Khorrigan in as the 8th member.

  25. Hmm, it must have been bugged in a previous patch though as it definitely worked at some point.

    Although my main VG doesn't really PvP, we do have a lot of badgehunters and with the three '5 hours' badges for Warburg, BB and Sirens which at least 4 of our members have, we unlocked it not long after CoV actually went live.

    Regarding Hammerfall's post. As Cold Spark said, you have a 25% chance of getting one of the 4 rare salvage types needed for elite turrets on completion of Warburg missions.

    A 4+ man SG team will see you getting one almost every run going by the law of averages.

    On a related note though, I'm pretty sure that although Warburg was the only place you could get this salvage before I7, I would have thought more unique and rare salvage would have been added but can't actually find any evidence.

    Anyone picked up anything special for taking down Recluse in the patron arc, completing the Recluse SF or even taking down the heroes in RV?
