Control and Defences?

While we're at it, can someone explain how defence placement works? I have a choke point and have defences in there but i've noticed a few other bases that have defences in the control/power rooms etc. I'm guessing you have to have the 'secure' versions of the rooms to put defences in them?

You sure its 20 million. I thought it was about 7.5 (off the top of my head). With regards to defences in other rooms - yes its a more secured version of a particular room.
Ive got the super computer and think have just afew control terminals and seems to do a bang up job for me.

Had a check last night and pretty sure it was 20mill. One thing that did concern me though was that I remember seeing an 'advanced' mainframe a while bac in place of the normal one but can't find it anymore.
For control check out the advance databases that link with the super computer I believe they cost 1 mill and add 500 control.
You can use advance terminals which are about 300k (i think) but Im not sure on the control they add.
Both of these aux items are on the 3rd work table.

IMO for those of us with less than about 100 million prestige the best way to get defenses in on the cheap is use the secure tp rooms - they're very reasonably priced - the largest is 1.35mio iirc and allows 4 defensive objects - we have 2 of those in our base, plus the upgraded vault which allows 1 for a total of 9 defenses (didn't stop the violators from doing us over mind )
You can also pop lots of extra walls in these large tp rooms to make them into meeting rooms etc as you only need one to hold all the pads you need (inc the raid one)

AES costs 2 mill, if u wanted to know.. i got one built so its confirmed, but i wont place it, since the energy cost for it is silly (1.5k). do as previously said and get advanced data bases (1 mill pres/500 control/500 energy iirc) it should last pretty long.
Regarding defense, same there... avoid choke points till u really got lots of cash and cramped space. the 1st base we had (pre i7) that was very successfull used the biggest TP-rooms for defense... then just keep adding secure-versions of room till ur wallet bleeds.. downsize is the plot will get filled up fast, but choke points have 1 crucial flaw... it wont allow u to place maximum aux-units for ur defenses. the cramped space more or less only allow u to place the defense, no aux. (ie. 4 elite turrets+4*4 Aux takes up alot of space. i think i was able to place 3 or 4 Aux in total in a choke point.)
im a bit curious how u managed to secure ur energy-production.. turbines dont produce nearly enough if u going to add defenses to the base... ull soon find that out atm im trying to get the 3rd generator unlocked, but either its bugged or the previous info that its 50 hours in PvP-zones are wrong.. since i know we done more than 50 hours (me alone has managed with atleast 30 hours)
Since you seem to be one of the most accomplished VGs out there, may I ask where do you get the rare salvage for the elite turrets? I still havent figured it out..
Farm missions in Warburg for some of it mate - rad pistols etc are there - 1 in 4 chance of getting one (there's 2 rare tech and 2 rare arcane types awared in wburg) so get a SG team in there (in sg mode of course) and grind away.
Oh and Dr Death - re the 3rd generator type - I've seen it in US bases so I don't think its bugged (but the awarding of it could well be).. but I sent in a petition a couple of weeks ago to find out how close our SG is to getting it as we've done way more than the 50 hours believed to be the requirement - will let you know when I get a response.
The awarding of the fusion generator is bugged at the moment (got response from petition awhile ago as I know I have easily spent over 50 hours on my own in sg mode in pvp zones).

Hmm, it must have been bugged in a previous patch though as it definitely worked at some point.
Although my main VG doesn't really PvP, we do have a lot of badgehunters and with the three '5 hours' badges for Warburg, BB and Sirens which at least 4 of our members have, we unlocked it not long after CoV actually went live.
Regarding Hammerfall's post. As Cold Spark said, you have a 25% chance of getting one of the 4 rare salvage types needed for elite turrets on completion of Warburg missions.
A 4+ man SG team will see you getting one almost every run going by the law of averages.
On a related note though, I'm pretty sure that although Warburg was the only place you could get this salvage before I7, I would have thought more unique and rare salvage would have been added but can't actually find any evidence.
Anyone picked up anything special for taking down Recluse in the patron arc, completing the Recluse SF or even taking down the heroes in RV?

actually, u dont need an SG team to farm that salvage. the easiest/fastest way to farm rad pistols (used for elite energy beam/elite chain cannon) is to choose 1 skilled person to run warburg missions (i run steal tech if that matters, tho i belive it dont). if u set it on villainous u should easy do 1 mish in less than 10 min, and as reward for mish u either get 'Weapon of Mu' (arcane version) or 'Unstable Rad pistol' in atleast 90% of the time. i usually lvl my cars in PvP-missions, so i get tons of them while lvling my many alts. if u dont have patience to farm (they do cost 10 pistol/turret and we got like 14 turrets = 140 pistols) i dont mind trading some off... i got well over 140 pieces of them.. (price: 5 pistols for 1 software or 1 pistol for rare salvage ie stable protonium or nanites)
its pretty expensive, so u be better off farming
note: i also have tons of weapon of Mu, Alien tech, spells of power, abberant tech, nano fluids.. well, all the PvP-mission salvages taht are mostly used for various of defenses.. im willing to trade them all for reasonable prices.

Let me guess, it wont be awarded retroactively..
Erm ok, I was told they are from warburg missions but after soloing a hefty amount of them myself I still got like 1 rad pistol and 1 nano fluid.. and that made me doubt if I had got them from somewhere else..
What are the other 2 rare salvage called?
I need these particularly for our hero SG though. I hope there is no bug in awarding them..
IIRC, they're called Demon Heart and Weapon of Mu. The 25% drop chance is pretty accurate if playing in SG mode so if you're not getting them, you may want to send a petition.
Thanks for responses, I looked upon it and it indeed works, EXCEPT "recover tech" mission does not seem to award special salvage correctly.. That might be the reason I didnt get them before. I did /bug it.
Hmm coming to back to this issue there seems to be something weird in these mission awards.. My friend always gets scent of brimstone and one other type of salvage that was NOT on the list mentioned. He NEVER gets unstable rad pistol, nano fluid, demon heart or weapon of Mu when he soloes warburg missions with a lvl 36 scrapper.
But my high-lvl characters on the other hand always get salvage from the list I mentioned when soloing. When we duoed the missions, we both got unstable pistols when we did my mission and I sidekicked him - we both got junk salvage when we did HIS mission and I exemped.
We did the same type of mission in both cases - rescue officer.
Go figure. o_O
