A friend and I are looking to build a good duoing Brute/Corr team. Are there some powersets that lend themselves better for this than others. Im not sure about the brute at this point but am leaning towards a fire/dark corr or possibly fire/cold for a mix of buffs/holds/dmg/controls/heals etc. not both sets have all of these of course. Wow! What a great forum and response to my noob questions. Theres a lot of great information and variety of sets to try and may succumb to 'altitis' and have to roll up a number of different ones just to try them out. Thank you all for the helpful info. I'm just trying to get thru the player guides section on combat mechanics myself so i can better understand how defense, resist, tohit, accuracy etc. all work.

I also like the idea of dark/sonic (kind of a banshee thing). Im trying to conceptualize for a traps/?
So many choices - so little time. I think Im going to narrow it down to 2 choice and mess around with those to lvl 32 to see how they play out I guess. (i'm afraid I have fallen victim to a wasting disease known as 'altitis') -
I see a lot of references to sonic - Ive fooled around a little with it - seems like most of the attacks except the first are shorter range than most others. Does that cause a problem? How would Ice/Sonic work? I have a concept in the back of my mind about that.
e. seems like they wold work well together - a plethora of control tools. Ice with (infrigidate & benumb, snowstorm, sleet) and so on along with sonic -res and some decent damage potential(?) tho again the ranges in sonic concern me a little. -
thanks everyone for the input thus far. Question on traps - the description for the force field generator says 'the drone will generate a force field bubble that will give all nearby allies increased defense' does it protect me as well?

Ive played 2 defenders, one to lvl 29 an emp/psi and a 12 dark/dark. The emp gets kind of boring and does not really solo well (maybe I'm the problem) and Im not sure about the dark/dark yet. Do I need to give them more time or is there a set that really stands out? Thanks for your help. Also i just got back to the game a couple months ago from 2 years off so im rusty also.

because a Lamborghini could never be made available at the same price - i.e. its comparing apples to oranges. Id play a scrapper cuz I want a hero, not a nasty, scummy rotten to the core villain!
Unless I'm playing redside. Then I play a villain cuz i dont want to be a nose in the air, goody goody two shoes sappy hero!
Only those who play simply for min/max will care about the damage difference. -
Thanks for all the great input. You know, I considered /traps when rolling my MM up but for some reason decided /FF had better synergy; but, after reviewing the info you have provided and the power sets I think /traps or /dark would be a better way to go since I too am finding out its sort of boring. Back to the drawing board.

I was reviewing your posts after rolling an Ice/Kin corruptor and was wondering if you could possibly post an idea of a leveling type build? I'm only at level 11 so I could respec or rebuild if needed. I appreciate any advice along that line. Thanks for the all the info on final build.

I don't see many blasters with Sonic primary. Those I do only seem to use /Em secondary. There's a couple guides using /Em for secondary(Range Boost), obviously because of the short range of some Sonic attacks, but are there other compelling reasons? I posted a thread asking for build help but didnt seem to get much response so I assume from that there is not much interest in Sonic for blasters. This is an honest question so no flaming please. I will not post again about it.

heres a tentative build with just SO's using Sonic/Ice/Ice. I know /Em could be better due to PB & RB but I am building concept so I know I have to use more range stuff than I might want. The other option is to use //FM for PFF and TI but again it doesnt fit in with my concept as well. Any comments or help is greatly appreciated. I am still somewhat of a noob with using MIDS and builds in general so please be gentle.

I want to roll up a new blaster using Sonic primary. I would like /Ice for secondary for concept reasons. Remember Pa-Boom from Rocky and Bullwinkle? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Could not really find much on Sonic in the forums. Thanks

I'm currently at 29 and am looking at the following as a final build. Im using the lower level IO's for exemping down but they dont appear to hurt much from having the 50's. Any advice is appreciated.

Hi all - Im just starting to level a new plant/rad troller and am looking for leveling advice regarding power selection / slotting/ etc. I just dinged 8 and am wondering if I should use Spore or Seeds. I do quite a bit of soloing as I have a lot of time on my hands, but like to team also. Any advice is greatly appreciated. BTW - I have just come back to game after a year + 1/2 or two off. Quite a few changes so anything there is helpful also.
