I had heard that if you got a treat with a rock, costume, or salvage, you got a tier 1 insp, otherwise it would be the tier 3. Is that what you are running into?
[/ QUOTE ]
I've gotten about 95% Tier-1 inspirations with a few piddly Tier-2 inspirations tossed in, regardless of whatever other treats I may or may not have received. -
Are you in a zone within your character's level range?
-
[ QUOTE ]
Is the dropping of Tier 1's from Treats intentional or a bug?
[/ QUOTE ]
This is very disappointing; I've been waiting for weeks to refill my coffers with Tier 3 inspirations from the event. Sadly, without those for an incentive, I think I'm already done with the event. I have all the previous badges, the new ones took me about 7 minutes to get, and I have no interest in the costume change temp powers. Less than an hour into it, and I'm already over the event. -

Player generated content is an awesome addition, on both sides: actually creating the content could be yet another enjoyable time sink, and the player-generated arcs gives everyone additional content to enjoy. I only hope the rewards aren't eliminated or even minimized for fear of farming. IMO the dev team seriously overreacts to the threat of farming; everyone is proactively punished to prevent the apparently cardinal sin of farming by having rewards decreased (see: GMs) and yet all the farmers do is shift their focus elsewhere.
At the risk of traveling down a negative path, I don't think the announcement in the form is a good idea. Did the dev team learn nothing from how Powerset Proliferation was handled? A tantalizing but incredibly vague announcement only leads to weeks of speculation and fantasizing, and then the actual details are almost guaranteed to disappoint as it's unlikely it could ever live up to the expectations generated by the speculation and fantasizing. -

Cold Domination for Defenders makes me weep. I hate, hate, hate being covered by those awful ice shields, and now I can't even hide from them on the hero side. -

The Valentine's Day Event has been my least favorite of all recurring events; I disliked it during its first year, and skipped it entirely during its second. I absolutely hate that Snaptooth mission. This year I ran the missions a few times to grab the badges/rewards that I was missing on my main hero, but that hour or two is about all I intend to dedicate to this event. The wedding related missions seem rather pointless without some kind of reward. (A terrible attitude to have, I know. The content should be its own reward. But an event related mission without rewards seems, well, unrewarding.)
I'm undecided whether I'll buy the Wedding Pack. It's overpriced for what little content it contains, and I'm not sure I have any use for the content. I have no problem with occasional packs for sale, although they should either be cheaper or contain more content. I do think they should only contain superficial items like costumes and emotes, and nothing that could affect gameplay. Having to spend RW$ for an in-game advantage, no matter how slight, should be avoided.
Of course I believe that most costumes and emotes should -- and indeed will -- remain part of free expansions, having an occasional costume pack for a fee may be beneficial. Items that go into the expansions need to appeal to the widest group possible, and little 'niche' costume themes may be overlooked. Offering them in packs for purchase gives the Devs an incentive to work on more them, and only people who actually want them would have to pay for them. -

Has the first "Double XP should be a click power not an event" thread started yet? There's usually about 30 of them before, during, and after every Double EP event weekend. -

I know it's going to be Snaptooth. -

I find it depressing and disheartening that there are people that think it's acceptable to be rude as long as there is no rule against it. -
[ QUOTE ]
Yeah, tell that to jranger who didn't break any rules.
[/ QUOTE ]
No? Because I seem to recall these two being long time rules:
[ QUOTE ]
2. Keep feedback constructive.
3. Keep feedback high-quality.
[/ QUOTE ]
That the mods chose to overlook violations doesn't mean the rules didn't exist. Whether or not repeated "No"s can be viewed as constructive is highly debatable -- and I lean heavily towards no -- but it's certainly not high quality. He spammed the boards repeatedly with his banal monosyllabic retort. Personally, I'd be surprised if he even read half of what he was "no"ing. -
[ QUOTE ]
So yes, you do advocate an atmosphere of suspicion and paranoia directed at one's fellow posters, because you do think one should have to go through any possible quotes with aforementioned fine-toothed comb.
Thank you for confirming that sad fact.
[/ QUOTE ]
I advocate being responsible for what is in your post when you hit the submit button. That you need to turn that into yet another overly dramatic crusade is indeed sad. -
[ QUOTE ]
Which means a fine-toothed comb for those "wall of text" quotes, because it was a three-letter-acronym that got editted out. And regardless, I got tagged, because I was insufficiently vigilant about someone else's post.
I am not my brother's keeper. Cryptic and NCSoft don't pay me enough to be.
[/ QUOTE ]
No one is asking you to be your brother's keeper. It's your post, and you're responsible for everything in it. Can't comb through those "wall of text" quotes? Then don't quote a wall of text; it's a terrible habit anyway. I know you're determined to turn these ant hills into mountains, but most of these problems you're having are of your own creation. The new rules are not that difficult to adapt to. If you're so inflexible that you can't, then that's on you. -
[ QUOTE ]
So ... you advocate an atmosphere of suspicion and paranoia towards your fellow posters? You advocate a climate in which we must suspiciously eye every single word or letter posted by someone to whom we wish to respond, on the merest off chance that they might have slipped up?
[/ QUOTE ]
Are you always so overly dramatic about everything? Sheesh, it must be exhausting.
"Suspicion and paranoia?" You have to make sure you're not directly quoting something that's offensive or a violation of the rules, not ensure your fellow forumites aren't plotting your death.
And all of this is, at this point, purely your conjecture. I have yet to see any official word that you can be punished or even held accountable for quoting something. -
[ QUOTE ]
That's my point exactly. The character by Alan Moore only shared the name. The character here was based off of the original myth, even down tot he costume elements. She did NOT share costume, or origin, or bio, or anything else. My point is, Alan Moore cannot expect to trademark "Promethea" because it is a mythological variant of Prometheus. If he does, he's wrong, and NCSoft is wrong for helping to support his so-called trademark.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm not a lawyer so I'm certainly not going to stake my life on it, but I believe you are wrong. Prometheus is a mythological character, and therefore "public domain." (Although I also believe that Cryptic has a caveat that you cannot create characters with names taken from mythology.) I am unfamiliar with any character named "Promethea" that existed prior to Alan Moore's creation; it doesn't matter if it's a variant on Prometheus, it's still a unique name. Even if none of this is true, Cryptic is going to err on the side of caution. It's an existing comic book character and they're not going to let you use the name anymore than Wolverine.
Theoretically I could create a character called "Superman" because that was a preexisting word and concept prior to the Man of Steel, as long as my character bears no resemblence to DC's. That, however, is not a theory I care to test since I would almost certainly be buried by Warner Brother's lawyers. -
[ QUOTE ]
Case in point: A friend's character made it to late 30's with the name "Promethea", a female version of the Greek mythical character "Prometheus", who stole fire from the gods and gave it to mankind. Sound familiar? he should - he was the demigod that Manticore tried to impress by shooting Statesman through the chest with an arrow.
[/ QUOTE ]
Promethea is the name of a well known comic book character created by Alan Moore. No surprise your friend got genericized. -
[ QUOTE ]
So don't rely on those edits being only for your own violations. Now, you really DO have to be your Brother's Keeper!
[/ QUOTE ]
You're being asked to be responsible for your own posts -- and that post does include anything you may be quoting. If someone uses a slur or profanity or an insult and I quote it without edit, I'm guilty of propagating the offending element. It's my post and therefore my responsibility lies for everything in it. You might just need to divert some of your italics/bolding time to proof reading any quotes.
Frankly, I don't see people being held a better standard regarding quotes as being a bad thing. Maybe it will cause a decline in the lazy people who quote 7 paragraphs to respond with 3 words, or the endless, needless quote pyramids. -

Will nickle and dime you to death.... $10 charge... No Way.
[/ QUOTE ]
Then it's a good thing no one is forcing you to use the feature. Don't want to pay for it? Don't use it. Problem solved. There's a lot more than this that I'd be willing to pay extra for, if it meant getting some long requested features into this game. -
[ QUOTE ]
Which makes it a LOTTERY OF DOOM: are you the unlucky person whose minor, not really important infractions get editted enough times to be Warned ... while the true, outright trolls go un-edited and un-deleted, thus getting a bonus "get out of jail free" card ...?
[/ QUOTE ]
Yet if you're not breaking the rules, you've got nothing to worry about. Know how worried I am about being banned? 0%. Because I understand the rules and I will abide by them, even if I don't 100% agree with them. -
[ QUOTE ]
Notice how /signed and "yes" aren't on that list?
So they support one form of fluff but ban another?
That borders on hypocracy.
[/ QUOTE ]
Where does it say that list is exhaustive and all-inclusive? It clearly states, "such as," and then lists a few examples. Until a redname specifically states that "yes" and "/signed" or exempted, I see no reason to think they are. They're as unsubstantial as their antithesis monosyllabic posts. Not everything on the list are posts that fall on the negative side; "LOL" usually carries a positive connotation, since you are, after all, laughing at someone's joke. -
Just 10 minutes after I said this ...
[ QUOTE ]
sooner or later the sheriff has to just step in and do his job
[/ QUOTE ]
the sherrif shows up. I can't say I'm either surprised or unhappy about these changes; sometimes it's necessary for the pendulum to swing far in the other direction. Cracking down on the fluff and inane noise on these forums is a good step.
I don't think one word responses are, in and of themselves, bad but they're a slipperly slope that contributes to the overall deteriation of the forum. Of course, not many people would object to a "Yes" or a "/Signed" since those are positive responses. "No" is trickier. I don't believe that a negative opinion should require justification anymore than a positive one should, but while "Yes" is an affirmation "No" always comes across as dismissive. That in turn leads to ruffled feathers and flamewars. Slippery slope. And then you end up with nonsense like "/JRanger" which was exhausted of what little humor it had after about the third use.
And, really, how hard is it to type "I don't think this is a good idea, even if I can't put my finger on it" (which took me all of 9 seconds to type) rather than just "No"?
I wish they would just enable the poll feature in the Suggestions forums; people can then click No and move on. -
<QR>
I don't care much either way, but wasn't this how it was originally and there was an uproar that CoV didn't have its own forum? -
Short answer, no.
I would probably like PvP, if not for the PvPers. I'd like to think that it's an ugly minority who ruins PvP, but in my experience the good PvPers are the minority.
My first experience with PvP was right after Warburgh opened; I barely got into the zone before I was dog piled by a team of two Controllers and two Blasters. Against a solo Empath. Clearly they weren't looking for a challenge or a fair fight, they were looking to pound someone. Nothing in my experience since then has made me think that was an anomaly. For all the talk PvPers engage in about how PvP offers a challenge lacking in PvE, most of them seem to prefer fighting those who are out matched, out numbered, or just not interested.
I've earned the 'time spent' badges in every PvP zone on two characters, so I've spent a fair amount of time in the environment. Since my unpleasant early experiences, I've adopted a pretty simple approach: I refuse to engage in any form of combat nor will I run. When attacked, I sit down, wait to be killed, go to the hospital and then resume my activity. Every so often I'll come across someone who will back off when they realize I won't fight back, but those are the extreme minority. Most of them will gleefully "defeat" me, often many times.
Maybe it's me, but I just can't imagine wanting to play against someone who's not interested. It would be like me walking up to someone, slamming down a deck of cards and announcing, "We're playing poker."
"But I don't want to play."
"I don't care; we're playing."
"I'm just going to let you win."
"I don't care; we're still playing." -
This was the first Event that I skipped entirely. Snaptooth needs to be retired for a while, he's been used too often.

[ QUOTE ]
Or the Devs can do what the really need to do & nerf the Shivan Temp power. Grats to the Shivan for another fine display!!!
[/ QUOTE ]
Exactly. The only thing that is 'proven' in these threads is that Shivans are overpowered. Bragging about 'soloing' while using Shivans always reminds me of hunters who bag their game using the latest high tech rifles: my reaction is always "I'll be impressed when you do it with your bare hands." -
[ QUOTE ]
Yes, I do take that as justification that you are wrong. People who make true statements don't mind being asked to back them up.
[/ QUOTE ]
Even if I were inclined to spend my time wading through your posts to back up my statement, it would serve no purpose. You consistently demonstrate a refusal to admit when you are wrong and this very thread is proof of that. You blatantly twisted statements and motives from Bradd and, when proven that you were mistaken, you did what you always do -- shifted gears to avoid admitting you were in error. You're very fast at demanding apologies, yet I seemed to have missed your apology to Bradd.
You have long been the most disruptive poster on this forum; I have never seen another forum member, here or on any other message board, so consistently have conflicts with others. Any mature or rational person would, at some point, have a moment of self-reflection and wonder why. But, of course, you seem to feel it's always the other person causing the conflict while you stay in your long suffering victim mode.
