Yeah probably, my point really was that SR are a good set for PvP especially when combined with DM. At the moment i'm lvl'ing a spines/inv Scrapper for PvP simply because they are 2 sets i've never played passed lvl 10, but my fights with Dotted are making me consider DM/SR just to be a pain in the butt to other PvP'ers
-
Lol DM/SR are hard. I fought Dotted Skin while playing my DM/DA Brute, and could i hit him? Not a chance
3 ToHit Debuffs in Touch of Fear combined with the fact he is SR and hard to hit anyway left me punching thin air while he hammered me

Another thing that proves Stalkers are overpowered in PvP, is that there are so dang many of them.
[/ QUOTE ]
This means absolutely nothing. Its the same as the fire tank scenario all over again. Fire tanks were particularly good at one aspect of the game... power leveling, so everyone made one. People complained. They got nerfed. Stalkers are particularly good at one aspect of the game... PvP, so everyone made one. People are complaining. No doubt we'll get nerfed too. -
Something i've noticed that some people seem to ignore is that while complaining that they shouldn't have to respec to play PvP and shouldn't have to select certain powers to defeat stalkers that the very same stalkers that they find so difficult have done exactly that. They have respecced for PvP and they have chosen specific powers to enable them to PvP.
An example - "Why should i have to choose tactics for PvP when it isn't all that useful in PvE?" some may ask. The answer is ... because Stalkers have chosen Stealth specifically for PvP when it is all but useless for them in PvE.
When Stalkers have built their toon for PvP i find it completely unrealistic that people complain they are over powered considering that most of the ones complaining either do not have PvP builds or are unwilling to build their character in this way. Stalkers are a specialised Archetype and it is only common sense that you are going to have to come up with specialised ways to deal with them.
Before CoV came out people were shouting from the rooftops that they wanted more variety, more of a challenge. Yet when presented with what they crave they buckle under said challenge and then change their shouts to shouts of "Nerf them!" "They are over powered, i can't kill them!".
C'mon people what do you want? Make your minds up. Either you want challenge, you want to have to come up with good tactics to defeat things or you want a game where u bash each other mindlessly over and over till one of you drops!
Sometimes i think it simply comes down to people being too comfortable with fighting the mindless NPC baddies that dont think for themselves and dont take measures to counter the powers being thrown at them, and when presented with a challenge worthy of a 'hero' they become very unhero-like and start throwing the toys out of the pram! -
Do we really need another thread on this?
-
Back on topic of the thread..
I do feel that PvP is slightly imbalanced, but thats the way the cookie crumbles. You cant choose to play a support role then expect to be a PVP machine at the same time. Most of the people who think that PvP is unfair tend to be trollers or defenders, those that get one shotted. Now in PvE i wouldnt think of jumping into the frontline on my Empath as i'd just get squished. This is the same in PvP.
Imo it would be impossible to balance PVP to suit everyone. As in all walks of life, trying to keep everyone happy is a massive task and i'd say that the devs should be given more credit than they have. What they have done is create dynamic and fun PVP zones. While it would be wonderful if we could all be pleased with PvP i'm sure that the devs are working towards at least trying to please some of the disallusioned. -
Ignore him ninja. His posts contain barely anything worthwhile, and when on the off chance he does post something worthwhile it tends to be over shadowed by what seems to be a need to argue for no other reason than he enjoys it. Rather than answer a question he's more likely to ignore the point of your post and scrutinise it for any lines that he can pick on.
Innigo - [ QUOTE ]
A false assumption. Whilst I may get passionate about certain things on these boards losing the pvP zone doesn't bother me, and stalkers are nothing more than a minor annoyance.
[/ QUOTE ]
Why pray tell are u constantly posting on this thread then? If u couldnt care less and you dont want stalkers nerfed, then what DO you want?
I've noticed a few who whinge about stalkers and try to say they are over powered then try to cover up their 'whinge' by making a statement saying things like "this isnt a whinge, dont get me wrong, i dont want them nerfed... but they are too over powered, i cant do anything when stalkers are around, Stalkers are putting me off PvP, nothing should be able to 1 shot me! and i'm slamming my bedroom door on the way in!!.....whinge whinge whinge" -
I'll be there on Defiant either as my Stalker Hackitoff or my Brute Scotch Mist
-
[ QUOTE ]
Simple I would guess something along the line of
If target X has been hit with Damaged Caped at Y then timer A starts any further attacks will Miss until the timer runs out!
So I would expect to see an AS strike with loads of reds capped to leave a small amount of health similar to dropping from a large height were its impossible to die and then give say 4 or 5 seconds of allowed response time to pop a green or run etc before the clock stops and Target X can be hit again.
Again with some team work it would be possible to get the target but would allow the target a small response time!
[/ QUOTE ]
I've got to ask how making up a lot of nonsense like that can be a reply to what i said. What you've written is fantasy and will stay that way, there is no way that they will nerf stalkers to be unable to fire off any more attacks for a set time after AS.
Methinks you've been at the loopy juice. -
As i've said before that won't change things, u'll still be killed within seconds. AS with a high damage attack queued up leaves blasters on the floor so i dont see that it'll be any different with defenders/trollers/warshades/peacebringers once the nerf comes ito play
.
And you just know that complainers about AS are then going to complain it hasnt been nerfed enough.... -
Just picked up Cloak of Darkness and was wondering if it is worth slotting for defense, or if it is going to provide very little defense like other stealth powers therefore i'd be better of putting slots elsewhere.
Zeph. -
Well i for one certainly dont always have another attack charged and ready to go, but then again my brute is DM and i dont have hasten. Brawl may not add a huge amount to Fury in one go but since i've had it on auto i've had no problems keeping Fury at a decent level. Apart from the fury aspect it helps when fighting shielded bosses. With brawl constantly firing off its not very likely their shields are gonna stay on for long
-
[ QUOTE ]
How do you get any decent fury going in pvp?
[/ QUOTE ]
Put brawl on auto, team in large teams and wear a lemming costume -
Lol yeah i know that. The reason i asked about it without fury was for a base to think from
-
The thing is though Nomolos where will the 'balancing' stop if this is to be done? Surely you cant expect all toons to be able to solo PvP the same? I wouldnt dream of solo'ing on my Empath or Dark Defender for example and would not like the game to be 'balanced' in order to make it possible. IMO this would ruin PvP.

Threads like this do nothing for the most part. They mostly show an immaturity of a number of players when they have to deal with something they are unnaccustomed to. Unfortunately some of the very relevent discussions and posts in amongst the harrangue get lost in amongst the repetative droll.
I really dont see why some people like to whine about Stalkers being overpowered and know nothing about them, havent even bothered reading other threads discussing the same issue. Others seem to want to rant at people who are only playing an AT that is available and doing what that AT is supposed to do. What are we supposed to do? Build our stalkers without slotting damage into AS?
As has been pointed out numerous times on this thread and others.. Stalkers are about to get AS nerfed a bit. So what is the point in complaining i ask? I fear that the answer i come up with for a lot of this is complaining for complaings sake and the well known trend of forums ... bandwagoning.
To people like Shimmer who's attitude is "Why should i buy inspirations!" and wont even listen to advice (some of which comes from Stalkers!)... I say Tough!
Oh and btw for all squishies that think that when AS is nerfed that life will be easy round Stalkers then ur in for a surpriseAll it'll do is make u 2 shottable the same as Blasters are now
-
[ QUOTE ]
but a Stalker I went up against the other night would AS, immediately use TP (unsuppressed unlike other travel powers) then placate and hide. It doesn't really give alot of opportunity to strike back, especially when you're a squishy.
[/ QUOTE ]
If i remember right most of ur complaints the other night u were playing a Regen Scrapper ... hardly squishy. Complaining about how overpowered stalkers were yet were happy to continually target the squishies all the time even tho there were brutes around -
Exactly as it says in the title i'm wondering how the damage output (not including Fury) compares between the 2 AT's.
-
Its an 'imbalance' that has been brought up over and over. As people have said... the Devs are looking into it ie when they fix it a stalker will AS u and u'll have like 5% hp left (or whatever its gonna be)
-
Yes they do... fact. You obviously have a build for PvE and may need to change a coupla slots for PvP, we all have to do that Stalkers included.
People have pointed out that there are temp powers like IR goggles that will help u see Stalkers and the use of Acc inspirations combined with it improve your chaces greatly. Even simpler have an empath in tow and get em to stack clear mind on you and your team and u'll be seeing Stalkers before you know it.
I may be wrong but u seem a tad upset, perhaps you should calm down and re-read the thread and u'll discover that ways have been pointed out to you.
You say AoE's etc dont work, they do. Stalkers 'Hide' can easily be interrupted by them u just need to have plenty of Acc slotted as some stalkers including myself slot for AoE Defense. -
[ QUOTE ]
Which AT other than stalkers can, if working in pairs bring down a member of another AT in under 3 seconds.
[/ QUOTE ]
Simple answer... good Scrappers. -
[ QUOTE ]
And I find it interesting that I've constantly been told that there are ways to counteract this yet not been told a single way.
[/ QUOTE ]
There have been repeated attempts to tell u how to counter Stalkers on this thread, not to mention the multitudes of other threads on the topics...
I understand its a knee jerk reaction Shimmer, take a breath and have a read round the Forum and you'll find that its not a win win situation for Stalkers at all. -
Boooooo!!!!
Don't give up playing Matron in Sirens because of a few idiots who obviously don't know the meaning of PvP. You are an illusion/empath and you play you're role pretty damn well. If it weren't for people like you causing distractions and playing the support role at the same time PvP would become too easy and very quickly boring.
Hope you change you're mind and come back to us -
I dont think flying around is gonna help u much any more Xanthus with everyone having their nice new shiny jet packs
