Hmmm...I live in California, and before my 3 year break I was always taxed on my $15.99 monthly...but, since returning, there has been no tax on my monthly subscriptions nor have I been taxed on any points I've bought. *Shrug*.
I appreciate all the tips. Bit more confusing than I hoped it would be. When you are checking out in the Paragon Store it should be as simple as inputting the numbers on on alternate card (or gift card) if you don't want to use the card attached to your account... -
Hey all...
Quick and probably simple question here. I've been back from a three year break from the game for about 2 months and LOVING it. Just have a quick question regarding the points you can purchase to buy things in the Paragon Market. I've purchased some points for various things, (mainly super packs), but have always just used my credit card that is attached to the account...I thought I remembered it defaulting to that when I was checking out. My question is this: with my birthday coming, if I was to receive those credit card gift cards (like the American Express or Visa ones) as gifts for my bday, could I use those to purchase points in the market? My credit card that is attached to my account is actually a check card so it's connected to my checking account so I don't exactly have an unlimited supply of money (YET!). I just wasn't sure if, when checking out, it gives you the option to choose/use a different card than the one attached to your account.
Thanks for any insight!!! -
OK Gang....I've REALLY enjoyed these!!! I enjoyed them SO much that I took some of the ideas and ALMOST finalized my setup. Looky looky what I got!!!!..... (chair goes in the middle, obviously...just have it moved aside for the picture)...
REALLY wish I had a new floor mat thing...there's a burn on one corner where, back in the day, a computer used to sit and apparently it got hot enough to brown the plastic mat!! Also, you'll see that my tv has yet to be upgraded. That may have to wait a while. Atleast it looks a little bigger now that it's a little closer to me!! LOL. Here's the side view of the desk....
My wife, in all her wisdom, saw this desk posted on a local classified section of Facebook here where we live yesterday and jumped all over it for me. We picked it up today, and....long story short (and after having to take the door off the hinges) the setup is COMPLETE!!!
Future plans: New plastic chair-rolly mat thing. ...and, new tv. Other than that, I'm just about set!! Oh, also need to get the walls decorated. That's minor though....big stuff (new computer, setting up both computers, new desk, etc) is done and that's what matters!
One last time, for comparison purposes, here's my LONG GONE setup:
-
Liz...are you in The Hague now by chance? I lived in Soesterberg (near Utrecht) for a couple years and I can't believe how familiar your view looks!!! LOVE it there!

these will eventually go "out of print"
The Super Packs will be removed? Is this true? I'm not able to find any info on that. ...and this is the first I've heard of it. Is this common knowledge? Do you have a link to share that backs this up? I'd like to be 'ready' if that's truly the case. -
Well....it's here!! New Alienware has arrived and it's setup! Was surprised to see Skyrim AND CoH running on ULTRAMODE!! SO happy with my purchase right now. I'm FLOORED at the size of it...it's literally the size of an XBox or PS3. Compare it to the Alienware I purchased 6 years ago and am using now and WOW....that's quite a difference. The performance they packed into that tiny thing is unreal.
So, on the left you will see the new Alienware...complete with the big screen. And, on the right you will see the "older" Alienware that will be used as my secondary. I'll have my main character that I'm focused on at the moment playing on the left side (new one) and the right side will be reserved for my other account or, perhaps, someone who wants to come over and play!!
Future upgrades: First and foremost I have GOT to get one of those corner desks. I want a flat one...about waist high, but fits down one wall and through the corner (as we've seen in some of the previous posts). That will REALLY free up my gaming space. Right now I'm cramped into one desk that's built for ONE computer. Secondly, and perhaps even more importantly, the tv in this room NEEDS an upgrade! I currently have that tiny one (above my bigger monitor), but it's got to be replaced. It's great for keeping up with a Clipper game or watching an episode of King Of Queens whilst playing CoH, but it is NOT a tv that you'd want for viewing entertainment. Currently have a 70 inch flatscreen in the living room and a 50 inch flatscreen in the master bedroom, so I think it's only fitting that my gaming space gets an upgraded tv!!
Without further ado, here's the new setup: (SORRY for the cellphone picture quality!!)
And just for comparison purposes, here's the "pre-new-Alienware" setup:
-
Party and PleaseRecycle are my kind of people!!! PleaseRecycle because you apparently live in my DREAM LOCATION...up in the woods somewhere!!! (WHAT a view you get everyday!) and Party because I LOVE me some darkness!!! I have the light on in my picture, but normally play in complete darkness.
Zyphoid...that's a HUGE collection you have there!!! Any XMen by chance?
New computer arrived TODAY and am waiting on a buddy of mine to help me set everything up! Picture of the new dual-setup coming sooooon! -
Wow that's a toughie. Over the years I've rolled up many-a-toon, sticking to fifty with many of them...so to pick *1*...that's a task.
I'd have to say that, as of now, my "favorite" character has got to be Adam Not So Quick. He's a Dark Melee/Energy Aura brute, level 50+3, soft capped (as well as incarnate capped) smashing/lethal/energy/negative energy defenses, decent single target damage, good AOE damage, perma-hasten, solo's at +3 X8 and I'd give ANYTHING to have them either raise the max (X100 anyone??) OR raise the aggro cap.
No, he's not an SS/Fire brute, he doesn't have Burn, but he's extremely survivable while literally MOWING down group after group. He's single-handedly brought me all but 1 of the 17 purple recipes I've gotten over the last 2 months (since returning from a lengthy break) just because of his great combination of survivability and AOE goodness.
I think what I like most about him is that he fits my playstyle so perfectly. He does great damage (upwards of 350% damage bonus with fury going + Soul Drain) while laughing as opponents whiff repeatedly. Then, once he's done laughing in their face, he smacks them in the mouth by a huge flaming ball of JUDGEMENT!
I'm sure sooner or later I'll get around to focusing my attention on Incarnating another of my toons, or leveling a newer one, and perhaps one of those will switch to my "favorite". I guess that's one of the great things about this game, eh? There never is an "end". You can take it wherever you want to go!! -
AHHHHH!!! Whew. Can FINALLY sleep at night now. You have no idea how many hours I've spent trying to figure out what those are cuz I can't handle the thought of there being powers out there I don't have!!! ;o)
Thanks bud. -
YCBMYBFP
OH...I was not familiar with that acronym. Thanks for clarifying that. Makes sense...I guess I definitely fit that description! -
NO idea what "SCR" is.
I can see your points...being that it isn't something that will affect me EVERY day, but as I had just finished boosting many many many enhancements on my current toon that I finished the build for, I remember thinking to myself, "Man, I am NOT looking forward to all this boosting on my next one". Given the advantages to boosting enhancements five times, I guess I'm suriprised to hear more people aren't jumping all over these. Sure, they're not life altering, but effective enough to make it worth boosting to some degree on all my characters. -
Quote:AH!!! Thanks to both of you for clarifying. Was driving me nuts. So you have added that item that changes the look of each one right? That's why things like the accolades look different...?I'm using 3rd party buttons.
Tray 3:
- Mystic Fortune
- Secondary Mutation
- Sprint
- Eye of the Magus (*)
- Geas of the Kind Ones (* Use these two as a kind of pseudo-godmode)
- Crey CBX-9 Pistol (Need to actually take this one off. I never use it.)
- SG Teleport
- Mission TP
- Oro Portal
- Pocket D VIP pass

Quote:I guess I just don't see the difficulty here. Didn't they already add stuff to the combination screen? Like the option to add boosters or catalysts to the enhancement you have selected...? Doesn't seem like it's life altering to just add an "add ___amount of boosters" options somehow.I agree it would be helpful and I can totally sympathize because I could have used it a few times myself. The problem is that it would likely only be used by tiny number of people at most a few times, ever. It's pretty clear it's something that would not be needed near often enough for the Devs to waste the effort to code a unique button for.
Sure it's a pain doing them one at a time - but once done it's done and you can always consider it the price of becoming super-duper. -
It's definitely very easy to get caught up in all the alt-ness. What helped me was making the goal to get one of each AT up to fifty. (NOT through PLs, but doing it the old fashioned way!). Once I got my first fifty (a controller), I immediately finished up and solidified his build, and rolled up my next AT. Then, off to fifty again!
I kept focused on ONE toon because I knew that eventually I'd get to roll another one...I just had to finish *this* one first!
This was many years ago...way before IOs...and so compared to now, there really wasn't much out there for 50s. Nowadays, though, there is SO SO SO SO much for my fifties that I find myself playing my Incarnated out 50+3 Dark/Energy Brute ALL THE TIME. I don't think I've even rolled a new toon since returning to the game about 2 months ago! All the extra goodness that's been added to the end game has been incredible to me. AND I'VE ONLY INCARNATED *ONE* OF MY LEVEL FIFTIES!!!
There are some power sets I really want to try out (Titan Weapons, Street Justice, BroadSword), but with all this goodness after 50, I just don't see how I'm going to be able to go ALLL L the way back down to level 1 again!!!
I say pick that *one* that's sticking out in your mind as the one that DESERVES to be incarnated and GO FOR IT. You will NOT BELIEVE how the Incarnate System can make a GREAT toon into an UNBELIEVABLY INCREDIBLE toon!! -
Psi-do you have two completely separate systems or is it two monitors off the same computer?
-
Quote:I've seen several of you with the recovery, recharge, etc buff window showing all those stats. Can you tell me how to get this on my screen? I'm unfamiliar with it, but would be interested in having it on a few of my toons. Here's mine. Some characters will have an extra tray or two in the same configuration as tray 4, depending on how many temp powers etc they have (that they use).
I'm mostly a clicker, but if I lose my cursor I'll switch to keybinds until I find it again, and location powers I usually bind to shift/ctrl/alt + lbutton. Also, a couple powers get to sit in my mouse side buttons.
And since it was mentioned: I use popmenus, but can't screenshot those (hitting print screen with one open just closes it, instead of screenshotting). All of my characters have one for the various teleporter powers, and my MMs get one for summoning pets and another for commands.
Thanks! -
Quote:If anyone else knows the answer to my question (above) please feel free to let me know. Don't think Hyper is checking back on this thread. You can click his picture above if you need to see what I was asking about. Thanks!Heya Hyper. I have to ask...please don't flame me!! As you know, I'm still relatively fresh off my 3+ year absence. What are the powers in your third tray? I see the Pocket D teleporter at the end, perhaps the Crey Pistol in there...and what looks like a couple of teleport powers at numbers 7 and 8 (not sure about that though), but in those other slots are ones I've never seen. Can you (or someone else) explain what they are? Thanks much.

I wanted to come back and update you on my experience. I started with Taskmaster Gabriel AFTER I had already completed all the arcs. I accepted his "mission" and then started running the arcs inconsistenly over the next two or so weeks. After I finished each arc through Ouro, I would check in with him to make sure it was taken off his list. Sure enough, after each was completed it was taken off his list. Yesterday I completed the final arc...Dream Doctor...and was awarded the the 2 Emp Merits even though it was my second (or more) time running the arcs. (I had run some of the other ones through ouro just to get the rewards before Gabe was around). Also, he was in my mission list for about two weeks (as I said above) and nothing reset.
To sum it up, I had absolutely zero issues with anything regarding Taskmaster Gabriel.
I did notice, however, that Dream Doctor's arc can be a bit misleading as it *appears* to end about halfway through. You have to be paying attention to make sure you don't quit the arc right there. Easy to think it's over. -
MY APOLOGIES if this has been posted already. I looked and couldn't find it.
Can we PLEASE get a +5 option on the enhancement combo screen? It's a huge pain to have to +1 enhancement after enhancement after enhancement after enhancement over and over and over and over. Takes FOREVER. Having an option to use 5 at once would be VERY helpful!!
Thanks! -
Quote:YES PLEASE!!! Specifically the flamethrower!!! I got one once in the PI mayhem mission (one of the side missions) and would LOVE to have it as a temp recipe!!I don't often make suggestions but I have been thinking about this lately. I use temp powers alot from envenomed dagger to the pistol to the baseball bat and love them all. I have always been a big user of them and would really like to see some new ones. A few suggestions would be:
Pump-Action Shotgun - (graphic would be the regular Pump-Action Shotgun used by some mobs) - 20 uses (Cone - Lethal - Chance for KB)
Electron Whip - (graphic would be similar to Demon MM whip only electric based - 20 uses (Single Target - Electric - Chance for -End)
Flamethrower - (Graphic would be similar to Longbow's Flamethrower) - 20 uses (Cone - Fire - Chance for DoT Damage)
Wand of Power - (Graphic would be similar to the Lost Wand) - 20 uses (Single Target - Random Damage - (Each use would a different elemental power Fire, Ice, Electric and Negative)
Chainsaw - (Graphic would be a very long chainsaw) - 20 uses (Single Target - Lethal - Chance of Critical)
These are just a few of many you could do. I personally would love to see some new ones. -
Quote:LOL! I think most people get "comfortable" and do their gaming!!lol, my setup is covered with cigarette ashes and empty energy drink cans...
Kind of glad you brought that up...I want all of you to know how very much I appreciate you all posting these. It takes a bit of guts to put yourself out there...(even though nobody really knows who you are).
Seeing some of these setups has given me a few ideas I'll be implementing (such as the desks I've commented on) and I'm sure others are getting ideas as well. The "cleanliness" or "tidiness" *if that's a word* doesn't matter to me!! Everyone's different and as far as everyone should be concerned, "live and let live!"
Looking forward to seeing what pops up next! -
Quote:WOW!!!!!!! THAT DESK!!! You and ZWill have GOT to hook me up!! For now it looks like I'm going to have to cram my new system right next to my current one on the same desk. But...bet your bottom dollar...I'm on the lookout for a desk like yours!!!! Would be PERFECT for my gaming space/room.Same desk as a couple of others already. In our tiny box room it all but takes up half of it.
Uncharacteristically tidy as we had a major clean out yesterday so I'm not too ashamed to post a picture!
Man, I wish Paragon Studios would make CoH Eyefinity compatible. -
Quote:I don't think this is necessarily true. I find them especially useful for lower IOs that my level fifties use for specific set bonuses. IOs such as Gift of the Ancients, Kinetic Combats, or Eradications all cap out around level 35 or 40 (can't remember exactly off hand) and by using the boosters on these specific IOs and ones like them you can get more performance out of them by boosting them five times.
Boosting IOs really only makes sense for level 50 IOs as boosting a lower IO would be a waste as you can just buy the higher level IO later. -

Quote:That stuff is WAY over my head. Some of you have a lot of power trays open - are you familiar with the magic of "popmenus"?
