Quote:There are 6 different recipes for tier 4 alphas, each using a different combination of the four tier 3 types that are available. It makes sense, as the tree clearly states that any combination of tier 3 leads to either tier 4, you just need to scroll down.I just find it wierdthat when I went to my Cardiac Core Revamp, in norder to get to my Paragon, I needed to start all over again to beginning and work on my radial tree to get to the component I need for my Paragon which is the radial boost revamp.
I know I need to do it, but...Im just not used to trees working like that really. -

Quote:It helps my conclusion that whatever the exact formula is, Blasters and Controllers seem to be gaming it. I said at the beginning of this post that Controllers are consistently doing WAY too well on the reward tables for it to be random. And taking polls of reward tables / AT at the end of every trial has generally affirmed this.Now...
My IL/Rad controller who only has three fast recharging attacks , near perma PA and the phantasm has run the trials four times so far.
2 uncommon
2 Very Rare
Looking at the average reward disparity between MMs and Controllers within my SG and greater body of friends is just insane... You don't get this type of spread randomly. -
If you guys are running 24 member BAFs while everyone is combat level 53 and have a full tool box of incarnate abilities, then how do you expect to contribute? Lower the team size to 12-16 for BAF and 8-10 for Lambda and you will generally get superior results.
-
Part of the problem is that people insist on 24 member BAFs and 16 member Lambdas even though we now have a tool box full of Incarnate abilities and are combat level 53. Run trials with smaller teams. It's simple, and you get better rewards because you are contributing more.

Quote:I wish he would have just been 100% melee given how terrible the AI is at choosing what attack to use. Sure, he'd be useless on flyers, but I'd take that in a heartbeat over the current situation where I'd almost rather have a second Lt. class IDF...Aye, he doesn't seem to have trouble knowing when his AoE would be good to use, but his single punch and his single range he seems to get stuck on, often he'll just fire bolt after bolt after bolt even in melee range, which is bad when he just waits between recharges. Shame, his punches are so strong it'd be cool to see him work better.
-
The IDF Lore boss pet seems to really under perform compared to the other boss class pets-- particularly Vicky and Clockwork. The biggest problem is that both his ranged and melee attacks are on 4 second timers, which means his AI seems to wait for the respective attack to recharge rather than use both abilities.
I love the looks, but man, does his AI have difficulty deciding how to attack with two 4 second-recharge-attacks. -
Quote:How is making the skill on par with the other 3 Judgement types-- already very powerful in their own right-- "nerfing it into the ground," as you put it?They're going to nerf it into the ground soon enough. Shhh. At the moment I am too busy channelling Electro, one of my favorite supervillains.
I picked a tier 1 Ion Judgement before I knew it was bugged. And after I knew it was bugged I went with Cryonic which I far and away prefer. Ion was fun, but a 45 degree 144 foot cone (with Alpha) is frickin' awesome. It was also nice to see something other than lightning Judgement while on a PUG... -
Quote:Well then, maybe it is totally random? Were you on a smaller group when you beat the trials, or on a larger group?[/LIST]My DM/Regen Scrapper got enough Very Rare and Rare components to craft three Very Rare and one Rare slot. DM/Regen is hardly an AoE master if you take all it's AoE powers, and I only have one of two possibly PBAoE powers in the set. I started with two Very Rare components in my first four trials, before I had even unlocked Judgment.
Last night I started working on a DB/Regen Scrapper. Much, much more AoE potential (though certainly small AoEs). Six trials: Rare, Rare, Uncommon, Uncommon, Uncommon, Uncommon. -
I think the key to getting better drops now is to run Lamda and BAF with fewer people. You can't be active, or contribute, when spawns and AVs are dropping so fast.
If anyone wants to test this later, I will be on Freedom. -
This system really doesn't feel random. My anecdotes:
- 1-- Leading leads to typing, typing leads to inactivity, inactivity leads to common/uncommon.
Whenever I lead a PUG of newish players, I am required to broadcast commands and battle plans, and even explain how to check your powers tab for temp powers. This DRASTICALLY reduces the amount of time I am clicking powers. I have never gotten better than an uncommon when leading a PUG of new players requiring constant direction. My only 10 thread drop ever was from leading a particularly bad group of players during a Lambda, and having to send personal tells to players explaining how to use temp powers and even find them in their menus...
- 2-- Want a consistent rare/very rare? Roll a Controller.
My Earth/Ice controller can rather consistently generate a rare / very rare incarnate drop by spamming as many AoE skills as possible during combat, and constantly buffing 23+ players and pets during downtime. They only characters that I have ever generated very rare drops with have been AoE centric with several player targetable buffs that need to be spammed-- ie shields.
- 3-- Single Target Melee...
I have several melee characters that generally specialize in single target damage. Every one of them has consistently underperformed any of my ranged AoE characters and buffers.
- 4-- Other players seem to realize this same thing.
Ever notice how sloppy it can be during a Lambda-- particularly now that many players have a Judgement slot? Players seem to be running ahead to use their AoEs on the next spawn well before the first spawn is cleared. Ever wonder why?
It appears that doing more damage, affecting more targets, and simply clicking skills as an indicator of being active yields better rewards. Unfortunately, most abilities in this game require foes to actually activate a skill, and foes can be in short supply during these raids now. People want to gobble up as much activity as possible to get the better rewards, and MANY players appear to realize this.
Again, these are just anecdotes, and maybe I am just trying to find a pattern in what is truly random. But maybe others have had similar experiences. Right now I feel there is a distinct AT advantage/disadvantage with the Incarnate content. - 1-- Leading leads to typing, typing leads to inactivity, inactivity leads to common/uncommon.
-
I am not liking the formula the Devs are using to determine participation level and to at least partially affect reward bonuses. It appears to disproportionately favor certain ATs with a combination of AoE damage/control, and player targetable buffs that can be spammed during downtime. If you are a damage dealer, debuffer, or a single target character-- there really appears to be a consistent bias in the rewards you are granted.
Controllers, MMs, and Defender/Corruptor builds that can sway their participation quotient seem to consistently get the best drops. ATs with no downtime abilities really seem to take a hit.
That's been my anecdotal experience so far... (And MANY posts here seem to confirm it.) -
Damage enhancement does not affect damage buffs, and the tier 4 Core pets recieve a damage buff. Musculature is effectively a damage enhancement, so it will affect the pets, not the pets + the damage buff.
-
Well, that's kind of the perk and whole point of Seer Fortitude-- it targets the owner ONLY, so it is the most reliable personal buff amongst the pets.
-
I don't think any of the shields add positional defense either.
These buffing pets are a nice boost, but nothing to rely on. Probably the best if YOU want to be buffed are the seers, with a Fortitude type power that can only target the owner. They also bring a heal. Of course, no defense is being added to your team, but the personal buff seems to be applied rather reliably. -
Loving issue 20, the incarnate system, and the variety of abilities and build we will see. These raids along with Apex and Tin Mage are just top notch content.
-
It seems like most of these issues are a matter of stress testing for the servers, something that is hard to test with our level of beta participation. The quality of these trials is top notch, and emblematic of extended beta testing. To top it off, the last patch merely had to do with localization for French and German. I'm not sure where your argument is grounded, if at all.
-
I disagree. This is not WoW style multi-group content, which it starkly contrasts by pacing, reward structure, and size of raid parties. Issue 20 is the most fun that I have EVER had in CoH, and it feels epic to have to work as a team rather than button mash. And yes, Tin and Apex are still button mashers, with a dash of dodging added against Battle Maiden.
So I agree that Tin and Apex they are some of the finest old style TFs in the game. But these trials are different, and the game needs that variety. -
Quote:I know you like seeing the number 50, but DO NOT DO THIS! When you exemplar, the IO will stop providing knockback protection. A level 10 KB protection IO will function all the way down to level 7, where as a level 50 will function down to level 47...
2. I like seeing the number 50 on a level 50 build. I like all of my enhancements to say level 50, including BotZ if I go for it, so that's likely what I'll do. I already snagged a level 10 Steadfast Protection thing and I'm on my way to make it now, but I'll swap that out at level 50 (or, more likely, at level 47). Will likely stick it into Temperature Protection.
If you can get over the number 50, try to socket all level 10s for these type of IO. -
Quote:From a mitigation stand point, ELA has 41% resistance to SM/L/Fire/Cold/Psi, 32.4% to Neg, and 90% to Energy. This roughly equals the same mitigation as 20.5% defense to SM/L/Fire/Cold/Psi, 16.2% to Neg, and 45% to Energy. Can you explain your reasoning that Electric Armor was in greater need?
EA has 25.7% defense to Sm/L, 29.3% defense to Fire/Cold, 32.2% defense to Energy, 22.2% defense to Neg, and stacks these values with 11.7% resistance to Sm/L/Neg and 14.6% to Toxic/energy. As you can see, when you convert the resistance values of ELA over to defense equivalents, EA has FAR higher values for the most common types of damage even before you factor its additional resistance bonuses.
Neither set at the time had a heal. Both sets had a g-d mode, but EA was blessed with a crash that the set itself could COMPLETELY negate (Conserve Power/Energy Drain) while ELA has the harshest tier 9 crash in the game. Power Surge from Electric Armor has -end, -recovery, and -HP,which is a combination no other tier 9 faces.
Electric Armor in theory used endurance drain as an additional layer of mitigation, but this ability scales poorly with enemy potency. Because of the way that debuffs are reduced as enemies con higher, this layer of mitigation is inadequate when the set actually needs an extra layer of mitigation against foes conning +2/+3/+4. When ELA doesn't need much additional mitigation against +0s the endurance drain is almost too potent.
And then there is the ubiquity of defense trhough Pool Powers and the IO system, which drastically alters the performance of these two sets (as Arcanavill pointed out). I played both EA and ELA on my Brutes, and ELA was and still is far squishier than EA. -
Despite a Scrapper's superior implementation of Soul Drain, the damage discrepancy is surprisingly close because Brutes have access to Gloom-- a skill that just so happens to fit thematically with Dark Melee. In fact, most DPS comparisons put a DM brute ahead against single targets because of the massive DPA of this skill.
Then you factor a better heal, higher resistance caps, higher HP caps, and superior agro management to feed Invincibility and the the Brute flat out wins on the /Invincibility side of things. And the there is Darkest Night that effectively augments defense and damage resistance (-damage)... -
You might be correct. I will have to test this, but my Spines/Nin didn't seem to proc a single Armageddon damage value in over 2 hours of playing-- and Spine Burst hit's A LOT of enemies.
I am going to test this later tonight. -

I've been thinking about getting an m11x. Does that that laptop with the optimus not currently run CoH? If so, I will hold off on making a purchase.

Tommy, are one of those items supposed to be Shield Wall 3% resistance to all?
