Quote:Believe me, this is dead on. I did that for the very first time myself in my most recent comic (#25). It's not easy especially when you're a hack like me and not a real artist... I imagine it's a big jump to doing two in one pic where they're overlapping rather than just side by side...

Quote:Thanks for the awesome character art and for the plugSo I stumbled across this web comic a few months back called Jordan's Town
and I'm liking the work Jordan has done on it so far... thought I might give a few of her characters a try to draw more attention to the comic (seriously go give it look-see) and just because I think these two are well designed and so #27 of 40 is up in my New Artz thread and it features Shazel and Garuk from Jordan's Town. Enjoy!
I can sure take some tips from your style on things like proper proportion, posting, and, you know, actual skill and stuff -

I just finished the last of an 8-part story arc in my webcomic here:

If you want to see the first one in the series, it's here:

Quote:That makes sense since it would be like running the arc for each member of the team. Also since ORO doesn't let you take the arc with people who are too low to have been on the mission anyway. *Sigh*.YES. Completing an Arc through Ouro should give EVERYBODY the souvenir at the end of the arc, and thus any reward related to it.
I really want those weapons, but I'm going to have to get someone in range for the Eyeball farm (I had it for my MM, but the mission accidentally completed because the stupid Arachnos commander got himself killed). -
-
I have the "Mole point bravo" arc from Tech Naylor and I want to get my alt some rularuu weapons. Does she have to have the mission herself or can she just tag along with me?

Mid's is the best by far, hands down. I don't know how anyone does builds another way. I use Mids to tweak and perfect everything. I compare various IO bonuses and such to get it perfect. My most recent build for my Dark/dark/dark defender has about 75% bonus accuracy, 14% damage and a large amount of regen, recovery and recharge (though I don't remember the numbers now).

Quote:I respec a lot because I don't worry about careful slotting of powers early on. I fix them in the mid 20's or early 30s and put them on track for final build. But then if I discover a power is more useful than I thought or there's a new game mechanic/IO that changes everything. Generally I'm able to wait for freespecs though since I have so many characters I playHow many times are you planning on screwing up your build?
Three respecs
One veteran respec per year, roughly. (9 months, 21 months, 33 months and so forth)
One freespec every time they significantly change a powerset
Freespecs for candy canes, last winter event
Respec recipes (for a ridiculous amount of inf, last I heard)
Cash respecs ($10 each; I can't imagine spending inf for a cash respec)
And I've been known to use my second build as a "Free respec".
Maybe it's because I'm a PVE'er, maybe it's because I come from the days before there WERE vetspecs or respec recipes (technically from the days before there were respecs AT ALL), but I average about one respec per character. -
Out of curiosity, are you making sure that your teammates are visible on screen? There's no bind I know that will scroll through the list of teammates, only visible ones.
Also, there's a way to do what you're talking about with rotating binds. Where you set a bind file to select a player and then load a replacement bind file that rebinds the key to executing a power which loads the original bind file again.
I'm pretty sure I have a sample here: http://www.jordans-town.com/mini-bind-reference
I can't check to be sure since my work blocks my pages for some reason. -
For the OP, I love this game. A lot. I think there are things that can be improved, sure, but if you like to build, customize, and play, this is a great one. Is there any other MMO that comes even close to the variety of character design this one does? Some would say AION, but they're not even close (for variety anyway).
If you want to see what I mean, check out my character creation guide here:
http://www.jordans-town.com/toon-gen
Edit: It occurs to me that you asked what the point was to start after so long. The answer is that it doesn't matter. Listen to the others and take your time. I suggest Atlas/Galaxy > Hollows > Faultline > Croatoa. If you follow the arcs in those zones, you'll be level 35 to 40 by the time you're done and you will have seen the most unique and fun content in the game. But the next character can take a different route and see even more
Last note, go to virtue. Freedom is full, but full of rude players IMHO. If you don't mind a slower server, I make my primary home at Triumph and it suits me well. If you love PVP, Freedom is actually the best server AFAIK -
Quote:O2 Boost breaks sleep anywayI'm not sure regen procs, the one I use regularly is in Entropic, are a true source of significant healing. That said, every bit counts.
I would not pick it up except getting all five Entropics gives me 6.25% rech.
Damage procs, however, are fun to watch go off.
ETA: heal proc breaks sleep? Brilliant. I didn't know heal broke sleep. I'll remember that on my ill/ w O2.And it prevents it (also stun too).

Quote:I sure won't argue with these people who seem to understand economics way better than me, but Oh man do I sympathize when I see that picture with all the HOs! Other than the fact that I've never been able to figure out why someone would slot HOs. They don't give bonuses like IOs so are they really any good?My mistake, IOs are resold at the crafting (i.e. vendor) price I assumed HOs were the same. In any case the point still stands. Reselling them at the actual market rpice would be worse for the economy than allowing the player to keep every enhancement. Keeping all enhancements is a deflationary pressure that makes low value IOs vendor trash and selling them at market price is horribly inflationary.
-
Quote:/signed for the OP AND you. What a good idea! Would it be asking too much for that also to apply to the day job base portal? One other thing, and this may already have been suggested, but I'd like the Base Teleporter vet power to act like the Ouro portal and open up a gateway to my base so my teammates can use it. Sure would make traveling from mish to mish a lot easier for those who don't have the power yet.
-
Wa ha ha. Yeah... that was mine.
Quote:Not entirely true. Purples and lower rarity IOs are similar to substitute goods (they obviously aren't strict substitutes). As the market price for purples goes up fewer people are willing to buy them and the demand for set IOs that slot in the same powers increases.
So we're imbalanced somehow. The 50s have an extrodinary ammount of money for some reason and it's pushing purple and pvp IOs to ridiculous values, but that shields the rest of the market from their ridiculous purchasing power. Does that sound right? -
Quote:I didn't think of that! Disturbing your own sleepIn my Sonic/Ice/Elec Blaster I have Sirens and Frozen Aura slotted with Sandman and all my single target blasts slotted with Entropic Chaos for a total of 5 healing procs.
It won't save you if you get overwhelmed but if you open with Sirens, miss a few, and take a partial alpha, by the time you are done with the spawn you'll be back at full health. I was able to skip the medicine pool on this blaster and rely on the procs, the slows in /Ice and the 2 AoE sleeps.
The nicest thing about putting the Entropics in the tier one and two blasts is that if you are hit with a sleep and one of them procs the sleep will break. -
Quote:That sort of makes sense, but since you can't slot purples until 50 anyway, they won't affect the market for lower rarity sets. You are correct, enhancements aren't technically an Inf sink, I was using "inf sink" as a generic term for anything that removes value from the economy. Enhancement sink would be better but saying "slotting enhancements is an enhancement sink" sounds a bit silly. The point I wanted to make was that the limitations on the ability to unslot enhancements serves to (effectively) take enhancements out of circulation. In the case of SOs this isn't actually doing anything, the SOs sell for their purchase price during a respec so the value actually remains in the economy. But in the case of the more valuable IOs and HOs the value is lost. This helps to maintain the value of lower rarity IOs (and especially common IOs) and HOs since people will tend to buy new rather than slotting an old character. It has less impact on the higher value IOs and HOs since people will tend to respec several times to recover the value rather than buying new.
If people could remove enhancements freely the value of common IOs would drop dramatically. Most people would maintain a few sets of mid-level ones for leveling alts instead of crafting a new set for every character. -
Quote:I'm confused. Why is an influence sink a good thing? And even that being the case, the core issue here is that the supply on those is so low and the price so high that I care at all. If I could make a Purple/PVP build in less than a year, maybe I wouldn't be so concerned about saving some of it.I would say it the other way around. Traditionally RPGs have been a lot more about resource management than shooters. In shooters the only resource management is ammunition, and normally only ammunition in the clip at that since spare ammo is easy to find. RPGs on the other hand tend to have a lot of different consumables and different gear sets and managing them to avoid running out at the wrong time or having the wrong gear on at the wrong tiem is a major part of the game.
in any case I'll say no for pretty much the same reason as everyone else. There are precious few inf sinks in the game and the current market seems to be inflationary as it is. Given that I'd rather not eliminate one of the few inf sinks the game has. -
Quote:This comes to play when I learn something new about IOs I didn't know before. Or there's a game change that makes them not work the way they used to. Or a new set comes out that you want to replace (say the PVP sets) but you want to preserve your really expensive stuff for your other characters. When I hear this suggestion (and yes I have heard it a number of times before); I have to stare in wonder. Although, you do at least give a nod to a slightly-somewhat-kinda plausible reason for the change you desire. Why my discomfiture at this question? Two reasons.
1) IF (and I mean, really, 'if') one goes through all the pain and trouble to create a Build with certain IO Sets, and specifically per your post, Purple/PvP sets; why on earth do we consider that they would be so shortsighted as to not have researched said Build to create it with at least a nod towards frugality in the first place? I mean; in order to Max this 'Awsome Build' out in the first place; they must have researched what they wanted a bit in the first place. So with all the number crunching, they forgot to 'count the cost' of what they were doing? Meh. Anything's possible.
Can this happen? Sure it can. My Main Villain is kinda facing this possible problem as we speak. Of course, he has only ever used 1 Respec (a Freebie a couple years ago) and has the max stock of Earned Respecs, VetSpecs, yada yada; why waste time talking about it. So I can see the possibility and the desire, but the need I do not see; especially with Dual Builds.
And taking the above into consideration; Reason Two begs the question.
2) Is it 'really' to completely change the Build you have gotten to 50 to 'purple out' into a PvP beast, or is it (in my own conspiratorial mindset) that the Player now has another new Character and Build which could make use of many of the Advanced IO Sets better than the 'Now Soon-to-be Abandoned in favor of Another' Character? I hate to say that I (personally) believe it is the latter more likely. But then I dont believe that people are 'basically good and honest' at the core of things. We all raise the Jolly Roger when we want something bad enough; and want what we want, the way we want it, NAO!
Not that I am against this, but then it doesnt necessitate a change either.
But that is what this Forum is for (and also the reason it is in the 'For Fun' Grouping). And Quint has the rationale correct anywho.
And all that just to go along with the Mods desire that I not just say /unsigned. Cant say I dont try to follow the rules. -

I searched, I really did, but in 5 years they haven't really improved the search function that much so if its there, I couldn't find it. I suppose my first suggestion is to allow keyword search using booleans along with tags. Maybe live results would be good too.
Regardless, my suggestion comes from the issue of having someone fully purple/pvp slotted and then deciding on a different style or sets. Doing a respec to save some of your billions investment only saves 10 at most. There's bound to be many others that will be lost or have to be placed again temporarily until you can get another respec recipie (which I've heard people will actually do, respec after respec to save their IOs).
If the enhancement tray grew like the Inspiration tray, say to 40 or 50 eventually, not only would that help with the respec issue which would help with the market scarcity issue, but then people wouldn't have to constantly go to the market to sell dropped enhancements (or just leave them full or delete them like I do). That would improve the market for regular enhancements too.
Anyway, my two cents. Thoughts? -
Quote:I never gave Siren's Song a chance, but I was thinking of playing it like an AOE attack with benefits. If I'm spamming it instead of holding it for emergencies it might make a difference. I'll give it a try anyway. Thanks for the adviceIf you think of it as a minor +Regen increase its OK I guess.
It didn't work as an emergency heal though. If I was getting in over my head, a quick Sirens Song at a pack of bad guys never fixed up my health bar in a way that made me feel safer.
Then again, I had Aid Self and eventually Personal Force Field, so any help that the proc did offer was negligible compared to that panic button combo.
Give it a go. You may like it more than I did. -
Siren's song was what I planned it for. I might have to try and see. Even a little is fine if you'd use the power anyway right?
-
So if I use Chance for self heal on an AOE power, does the 10% chance fire for each mob hit or just on my single casting?
