Hrm. The other day, I was internally lamenting the lack of crowds. I'm not saying "Doom" and assume that everyone is dispersed throughout the game world in missions, TFs, etc. But, since the AE nerfs (which I support), Atlas Park doesn't have any reason to be a hub these days and crowd watching consists of the occassional lvl 1 or 2 popping into existance near Ms. Liberty, spending a moment with her and then running away.

3' smaller. The Discovery channel and TLC have taught me that I can manage just fine at 3'1" but I think life would be considerably more difficult at 9'1". Plus every account I've read about the abnormally tall ends with them dying an early death due to health complications.

Coma. Then I could come out and see everyone eating vitamin pill dinners and flying cars around and ordering their robot servants and it'd be like time traveling into the future!
Except I'd be 10 years older myself but whatever. -
Quote:I don't share your opinion but I understand it. The Bio tab could as easily be the last tab on the info screen, assuming that folks are more interested in your current catalog of powers than who you were as a child. I suppose the developers back in the day felt that, for immersion purposes, you were your story first and the technical terms of your powers second. While I understand the desire for the Bio box, I personally don't care for it generally. I know I've upset a number of RPers with the previous statement.
While sometimes I find the Bios given interesting, if I look at them, It's just one extra tab I click on when I'm looking at a Character's Info.
The responses have been interesting, especially all the people who've said that they have a story, they just haven't written it down. I see a lot of empty (well, nonexistent) bio tabs and usually just assume that they see their character as simply the thing they control to play the game. There's nothing wrong with that and I'm far from any roleplaying purist who thinks you're playing wrong if you're not deeply invested in FyreGrrl. It's just interesting to think that many of those characters perhaps do have some untold history.
Although I said I don't think I've ever saved a character purely for their bio, I think a good bio does help with some characters that struggle in the early levels. Envisioning the day when a character can go berserk in a Crey facility, blowing down waves of the villains who once killed his wife and dog can help get through the reality of level 3 and being sent to the hospital by Hellions. -

Just idly curious and some questions on character biographies:
What percentage of your characters have biographies? Do you usually write them at creation or after you've had a chance to get a feel for the character? Has a good biography saved a character you otherwise weren't that thrilled with?
On my main server, 70% of my characters have biographies. I typically write them either at creation or before level five. If I can't feel a "history" by then, I probably won't ever feel one. I'm not sure if I'd keep a character I "hate" due to bio, but I've only deleted one character with a full biography; all the rest have been a couple rotating slots of non-bio'd characters.
While I'm on the topic, anyone else notice the text window where you write your biography being buggy? I'll be at 1004 characters, go back and delete a comma and it'll jump to 1015 characters or some weird like that.It tend to make large character count jumps for minor changes that don't add characters at all (or certainly not 15 of them). -
50 Mosquitoes. Mosquito bites don't seem to itch for me. I suppose 50 combined ones might but then the venom from three bee stings probably wouldn't do me any favors either.

Batman because moral ambiguity suits my lazy lifestyle. Also, batarangs.

So now I can picture Fenian Girl naked, so that should be useful.
I've never found a good "live" reference for Polish Princess or Tally-Ho. I tried looking before when Wassy was asking for photo references but could never find one who really felt right. -
Quote:I hear ya. I bought a shiny new sketch pad and a couple pens/pencils but haven't really started.I want to relearn to draw. I picked up a pencil and stared down at some paper yesterday, and then shook my head because I couldn't even pick a place to start. Yeesh.
Actually, I did start once. Then I was having trouble with a body pose and downloaded some poser style program then had trouble with it and spent 90min dinking around with it, then gave up on it for the time being and never got back to my sketch.
Good intentions and all that... -
Very nice one, there! One of my favorites so far. I'm a sucker for a very well executed B/W ink piece.

I always liked the idea of the Lost curing wand. I picture my hero hanging out in Kings Row when a homeless guy runs up.
"Hey, remember me? I used to be a huge dude with a TV on his head who swung a giant sword made out of a car fender and who held groups of lesser men in awe. I'd stand on a box and preach to them about the coming times and they would stare at me, taking in my words. Now you've cured me and I'm a weak homeless guy who gets shaken down by Hellion recruits on a daily basis. So... umm... thanks for that." -
Quote:Darn consumers, having an opinion about the things they purchase and allNow as soon as he relents and gives us what we are constantly demanding for, people turn on him like a pack of rabid ankle-biting lap-dogs and complain about the trivial clipping issues.
Welcome to dealing with the public and stuff. There's a balance between getting it done quickly and getting it done right. Personally, I think the Magic booster hit that balance. The MA booster, not so much. Can't say I feel too bad for saying so. -
Quote:Agreed there. I've only used a few bits form this pack (one of the boot options and I think a helmet) because, when I tried to use the robe, my character looked as though she'd been attacked by moths every time she shifted. Random patches of skin would poke through her clothes, strange slot clipping, etc. It wasn't just "Can't use the long hair with the cape" but "Your naked arms will poke out through the sides of your sleeves".The clipping on this pack really should not have happened, All it would have taken is ONE character made with sleeveless robes to see how your chest emblem gets eaten by the robe, and the shoulder pads meant to go with the robe are in between the fibers of the sleeve in some places on top in others, and below in others. When you color the robe the Trim color matches nothing else in game, because it blends with the main color unless you select "fire"...
I trust they'll get it fixed (hope so) but I can't say it wasn't a disappointment to put costumes together and realize they looked ridiculous on a technical level. If I'm going to look ridiculous, it should be because of my poor fashion sense. -
Three Mile Eileen wins based on name alone.

Congratulations on the new art!
Love the marker-lookin' line work and coloring. Or maybe it really was marker. I can never tell with you kids these days and your new fangled computation machines. -
Hey, if nothing else, this just motivated me to re-do my ref page for Polish Princess since her's was small, blurry and only one shot.
-
International characters, huh? Can't think of any....
Oh, wait! 75% of my sig is made up of them!
Polish Princess
Hails from Poland. Krakow, to be exact. Rad/Rad Defender, has a thing for fighting Nazis & their ilk. Although the 5th Column is North American based, I could easily see her back in her homeland, racing against them to recover some bit of Nazi scientific or arcane relic.
Bad Czech
Axe/Shield Brute from Prague in the Czech Republic. He's a villain but he has a particular vendetta against the Russian mafia who originally sent him into hiding and that expands into a general distaste for organized crime in general. He could be seen fighting the Russia mafia, some sort of Soviet soldier organization or fighting Gray Huntress herself if she was silly enough to get in his way.
Tally-Ho
From England, naturally although I never settled on a location. Somewhere rural but it's easier to say "England" with Big Ben than with verdant countryside. She doesn't have a real particular enemy faction but fights crime in general with her bow and variety of arrows. I'm not sure Gray Huntress wants someone stealing her thunderEdit: I see you're not limiting your scenes to battles so perhaps a hunting trip is in order. Or a spot of tea!
Costume references are in my sig. -
I was informed that having my references in my sig would allow artists unfettered access to my brilliant and exciting characters.

Quote:Like Sailboat said, I tend to get these requests when I'm soloing (without a LFT flag on). If I'm soloing without my LFT flag up it's because (for whatever reason) I just want to solo. Now I've got some guy asking to join me and I kind of feel bad about telling him "no" since he wants someone to play with. Maybe I'm too much of a softie and just shouldn't care.Out of curiostiy, why do you dislike it? It's no worse than you inviting someone else to your team. If you have a spot they could fill (depending on AT etc if you are a player who likes a specific make up) what do you have to lose?
Now, if I am teamed or have my LFT flag up then I'll join with with just about anyone (or send them to the team leader). It's just being put on the spot that I dislike. It's not a huge deal but I'd rather not have it happen. -
I'd absolutely do it. I'd even take my flagship character, The Polish Princess, to do it. Her personal story revolves around fighting against the Fifth Column and now with her Master of the 5th Column badge completed, I think something like this would make an excellent capstone to her career. Even if she perishes in the first mission, it shall be bravely.
Or maybe due to lag.
I'll take a statue in Founders Falls please, with a plaque. -
I sort of agree with the OP in that full team missions seem like a push-over much of the time, assuming that everyone is around 50 and not a bunch of SSK'd lvl 10s. I think a lot of this has to do with team dynamics and the power of AE skills, both offensive and defensive. Large groups of mobs get blown away and AE heals and buffs become more potent for their stamina cost.
But, while I sort of agree, I don't really want to see it changed too much. Because, solo, the dynamic is different again. I have two defenders at around lvl 50, one of which is soloing Praetorian villains (as elites, I'm not awesome enough to solo AVs) in hair-raising, knuckle whitening, inspiration-popping battles that I lose about 40% of the time. The other still struggles against standard groups of minions and Lt's when solo. The difficulty in the game can be so dependent upon AT, team size, enhancements, etc that I really think we have a good balance now where you can make the missions considerably harder if you choose than to crank up the difficulty for everyone across the board. -
In no particular order (aside from by character) and all in smaller format (see the full size ones by browsing my favorites). Reference images in my sig.
