When I moved my TA/A Defender "Tally-Ho" to Virtue, I had to change her name so I went with "English Sparrow". I was never in love with the new name but I snagged "Scarlet Finch" off the name thread.
With Praetoria, I rolled up Scarlet Finch as a Traps/Archery Defender dressed in the same English fox hunting costume as Tally-Ho/English Sparrow but with a black domino mask (being all out of goatees at the time). I'm taking her red side after Praetoria but haven't decided yet exactly how Maggie Walsh v2.0 veered into a life of crime for her bio.
English Sparrow took advantage of the transfers and returned to Victory to reclaim her proper name. -
Congratulations to the local winners indeed! I didn't notice the grand prize stuff was up and saw the dailies were listed by real first name so I didn't know who got what.
Yeah, Zam.com is horrible at contests. I basically had to prod them along for a week, they ignored their own deadlines, posted all the winners late, etc. I've been active there for ten years now so I feel entitled to tell them when they're acting like suck
There was some nice stuff posted by the locals. Good job all! -
Start a new character on a different server, play for a bit and then use your free transfers to send them to Freedom.
I'm okay with large queues now and my mains are on Virtue. Even if we lose (to randomly grab a number) 50% of the population boost within a month, more people now means more people later when the numbers are lower. -

Proving absolutely nothing but this is as good a thread as any to say it: When I picked up my retail box of GR at Best Buy today, the lady remarked that she's been handing out a bunch of them all day long. Made me happy to think that there's been a good amount of them sold at that one store (and not counting Gamestop orders, other stores or pre-purchases through NCSoft).

There was a contest (ended) on Zam.com for Going Rogue with the grand prize being an Alienware laptop. I'm guessing it's one big happy merchandising tie-in promotion they have between them.

Has anyone played with it? An invisibility where you can't move and can't use powers without breaking it and with a long recharge time seems good for going AFK and that's it. And you can AFK but standing in a cleared room in a mission map or most places in an outdoor map not currently occupied by a mob.
Am I missing something obvious? I don't really care if it's "useless" but I'd hate to miss an obvious application. -
The Maria Jenkins "Praetorian AVs" missions out of Peregrine were updated. The giant (like bigger than DE bosses giant, not Kronos Titan giant) robots are in the Nightstar (?) mission.

Quote:I'm picking my retail box up today but I had fun last night soloing. Entered the new Jenkins Marauder mission with my AR/Dev blaster (+0/x6) and got rolled by the first spawn. It was pretty funny.Like me last night?
I did feel a little lonely but did a few Tips missions on my Plant/Emp just to get a feel for them (first impressions, alright but nothing special, a bit like slightly more involved & complex paper/radio missions).
Also, Marauder got killed by his own minions while I was at the mission entry which I'm pretty sure was a bug
Marauder says "I won't go back to jail!"
Scryer defeats Marauder
Oh, and the giant war robots are awesome. Anything that warns me that it's warming up its orbital lance laser is okay in my book. -
Noble Savage (the CoX art guy) has said that he's trying to get as many of the mob faction costume pieces as possible into PC-usable pieces. Some won't happen for technical limitations (so no Carnival ball gowns or CoT full robes) but he foresees the vast majority becoming usable pieces. No time frame on this though.
Here's a snippet from the PAX interview although the same has been said elsewhere:

When are they going to allow costume parts from in-game villians. Like the Carnivals

War Witch: Yay, David, that one's yours.
Monday August 16, 2010 4:14
Noble Savage: The philosophy going forward is to convert every villain groups parts over to players. As much as we can possibly convert.
Monday August 16, 2010 4:14
Noble Savage: Would like to go back and get the coolest older stuff as well. Stay tuned...
Monday August 16, 2010 4:14
Castle: Some of those costume parts won't actually work for players
Monday August 16, 2010 4:14
Noble Savage: That's why we can't get all of 'em. We'll get the VAST majority though.

ZOMG Slap in the face to us Collectors Edition buyers!!!

I've had a DP/NRG blaster waiting in the wings for months (I didn't pre-purchase) so she'll get made. Unfortunately, I had a great concept for a KM/SR scrapper but I didn't care for KM in the beta so I'm undecided there.
Making at least one Praetorian brute for importation to Paragon City. Sadly, we can't take our existing characters to Praetoria so my lvl 2-6 GR placeholder characters with gobs of Day Job badges will either have to level up in their home cities until they get alignment missions or else give up all their badges/accolades to go Praetorian. -

I used to play another MMORPG with built-in voice chat. I hated it. Adjusting the volume of it against the game volume was fiddly and my reward was people either randomly yammering or else barking orders as though we needed General Sherman in our ranks to take on three goblins. Since it was built into the game, people would get very upset if you didn't have it on.
These days I have family reasons for not wanting to use it as well. My computer is in a "public" spot in the house and my wife doesn't want to hear some dude talking about Ghost Widow's boobs. She does want me to hear her so headphones aren't a great idea. So I just go without and tend to drop out of the "silent" groups who are all obviously on Vent since soloing in a group isn't much fun. -
As a friendly reminder, with Going Rogue going live tomorrow including the market merges and cross-faction e-mailing, you might want to pull your more valuable auctions and clear attachments out of your e-mail. I'm sure everyone remembers the joys last time they upgraded the auction system.

I was going to go for the Gamestop with the enhancements but I guess those were only for pre-orders and now I'd have to have it shipped to my house (it won't let me pre-order now with an in-store pick up option). And delivery for the 17th is $10.00. I thought the enhancements were available just for buying through Gamestop but I guess not. My mistake.
So do I pay $49.99 to Gamestop for the enhancements (and mouse pad I'd never use) or $29.99 to Best Buy? I like the enhancements but not for $20.00. -
I moved a couple to Virtue last time but they lost their names and, consequently, I kind of lost the desire to play them. I'll probably move them back to their old server and reclaim their identity since I haven't heard anything about new name wipes in the foreseeable future.

Nah. I can understand (even if I don't agree with) taking time off in traditional MMORPGs where you want to be the first ever to loot that new sword or carry around that new shield that has people asking "Where did that come from??" or be the first to raid some end-game mob before some other guild gets to him first. But there's no real incentive for me to rush through Going Rogue and it'll be the same game when I get home from work.

Oh well. I won't have a 45+ Villain by Friday. Spent too much time in beta.

B. Wait..she's holding coconuts?
That's right. I went there.
