Quote:I was originally trying to use the Resistance pants (with a dark secondary so it doesn't glow) which have a stitched look without the giant patches. But it wasn't an option when I was going through and I'm not sure if it's only a male option or under different pants or what. But I agree that your options for "tribal" are pretty limited. The problem with a savage/tribal look is that the game really only has one clothing textures for it, that being the rough patches you used. The problem is I've also already used that almost as-is on Brutticus, and I really don't want to make Brutticus again, but with a cow head.
-
Samuel_Tow was asking about tribal cow-people earlier so I decided to make a pretty standard tribal design with one:
I was going to try one with more of a colorful baggy theme except I noticed that the cow head (maybe all the animal heads) really overlap onto the chest bits and bleed over the symbols, etc. At least they did on Baggy, I didn't try Tights. So, anyway, I messed with it a little but wasn't getting the effect I wanted and gave up for the time being. -
Do a Khan on my two incarnates. Luckily, I've always liked Khan so it's no great shakes.
I have a KM/SR scrapper at 44 who has been great fun and will spend most of my game time on him. It's nice because I know what I want for his slottings and powers up through 50 and so I'm still looking forward to each level. It's a definite departure from his early levels where I sort of hated him until lvl 21 or so but wanted to see if he would bloom. He did in spades.
In real life, I'm taking on the role of godfather to my nephew when he's baptized on Sunday. I plan on spending the party afterward saying "On this, the day of my nephew's baptism" as many times as possible which will be a lot more fun for me than for anyone else -
Poor Lusca won't know what hit her
I hope they clean up that gun barrel. Right now it looks kind of silly as a giant stick poking out. But it's still Beta and all that, yadda yadda... -
You can't see your own (+1). Goofy, but there ya go. If you need proof of your level shifted status, hike over to PI and target a lvl 50 minion. If he's blue, you're shifted.

Quote:Noble Savage said today that several people have already guessed the next booster and since Steampunk seems to be the common guess (and I haven't really heard anyone guessing "water"), I'd keep the safe money on steampunk.Wild speculation warning:
While I hope for a Steampunk pack (it's my namesake on a lot of various sites), I'm not sure if it'll be Steampunk.
I'm not even all that into the steampunk scene, I just know that I can find something interesting to do with some new shoulders, new arms, new boots, etc. Can't say the same about lion and cow heads. -

Quote:I'm not talking about the beaks & muzzles bit so much as creative uses for the Martial Arts pack robes and padded armor bits, cyborg parts, even the mutant bits lend themselves to more creative applications than "Tiger head".I guess we'll just have to disagree on that one, because I personally have never felt it necessary to use items outside of their intent, and have in fact gone out of my way to not do so. Gas Masks posing as beaks and muzzles is a big one for me - do not want.
Quote:This is the first time I've found a costume pack which enabled new characters completely and entirely, as well as one which actually explored new ground, as opposed to retreading old concepts.
I suppose the bright side is that they didn't include a single piece "hook" to entice me to spend money on the pack -
Quote:I'm the opposite. In previous packs, each one held a bunch of pieces that could be used well outside their theme and opened a wide variety of costuming options. This pack is a far departure from that and pretty much the opposite -- unless you want to make a furry/anthropomorphic character, this pack is useless. Even the mutant pack opened more varieties than this one does. The most "creative" thing outside of making furries I've seen has been the cigar smoke trick which, while pretty cool, doesn't say much for the pack as a whole. This is something I want to make a point of. We've gotten a lot of Costume Packs over the years, and in a lot of cases they just have one or two pieces that are better than the equivalents we already had, like a better gas mask, or better rubber gloves. For the most part, I can see a few pieces I want to swap in on my existing characters, and that's about it.
The animal pack is SO much more than this! I literally CANNOT use any of the new pieces on any of my existing characters because the concepts these pieces permit are so new and unprecedented that I honestly just don't have any even attempted. Because I COULDN'T attempt any of them before, for lack of options. In fact, my Cow Girl is a design I started and abandoned because we lacked the pieces and her costume sucked.
More packs like this one, please! More packs that open up more options, instead of adding redundant pieces to old options!
It's disappointing to me because I used to enjoy seeing how all the new parts could be repurposed into other costumes but I suppose I'll just have to wait for the next (Steampunk?) booster and hope they do better. -
I can sympathize with some of the people who don't want to form a TF as leader. There's a number of people out there rather opinionated about how a TF should be run ("why aren't we stealthing this?" "someone should run to Room X and port us", etc) and if you haven't done the TF before or haven't done it often, you might not want to be "in charge" and risk not knowing what you're doing. For a while, I was playing a defender and every time I did the Khan, I was told at the second mission "Stay here and wait for mission complete". I had no idea what that mission was even about because I only ever saw the inside of the little ruined building and the red zone out box. Now that I think about it, a lot of TFs are sort of like that in that the new guy just winds up along for the ride and doesn't really know what's going on until he's done it a few times.
I've personally gotten enough experience that I feel confident running the various task forces and am not particuarly concerend with the occassional malcontent. But enough Task Force Horror Stories start with "For one thing, the leader..." that I can sympatize with those who find it daunting and would rather join an existing one even if it means a long wait.
I only have two incarnates as my other, earlier, 50's are poorly enough built and enhanced that I've kind of set them aside rather than gone through the effort of "fixing" them. Those two incarnates, a tank and a controller, haven't had any trouble getting teams right off the bat but they're not scrappers or brutes so I guess they don't count -
So very signed. I was actually thinking about this just last night; "If they'll let us use existing robotic arms asymmetrically, why not allow us to use ALL arms this way?"
-
It'll be the booster pack "hook" to get all those people who don't want to make "Tiger Boy"
-
Every time I roll gold, I get a Snipe-y McSniperton: Chance to Suck IO for my 3500 tickets.
Apparently this is because other people are making up the curve -
If I roll out a handful of 20 lvl 10-14 bronzes, I almost always get at least one Steadfast 3%. Your mileage may vary. No guarantees implied.
You'll also get lots of junk, some Karma +KB Protections and the occasional... erm... whatever the low level +Regen IO is called. Doctored Wounds? There's a ToHit Buff set in that range that's worth some money as well but, again, the name escapes me. -
I got bored tonight and threw 1500 tickets worth of mid-level tech salvage on the market. I think I made 10 million, largely off Improvised Cybernetics which remained firm at 200,000 inf after I put about 30 of them on the market (it kept saying there was between 7 and 14 of them available). I probably would have made more money rolling bronzes but I saw some of the other tech salvage in that range go down so maybe some poor sap got a good deal.

Quote:Ah. Oh well, I'll wait for the next booster.
Yes - there seem to be 6 heads - lion, tiger, panther/leopard, bird, bull and wolf, with a combined total of 60 costume parts and patterns, inclduing customizable manes and teeth. -
I can't access YouTube from work for the trailer. Is the pack all "Lion-Head Man", "Wolf-Head Man", "Eagle-Head Man", etc? In other words, does it seems to be 100% anthropomorphic body parts?

On the negative side, the one-off mission Mrs. McIntyre had with him has been eliminated.
On the positive side, the new Anti-Matter arc is much, much, much less annoying than the old one. The "Kill Alls" were replaced with "Defeat leader(s)" which made all the difference.
Head-Slappingly funny story. The other night I got to level 42 on my scrapper and sighed deeply at having to do Anti-Matter. Then I remembered that my controller still had the old AM arc on her so I thought I'd switch over, get in the mission and bug a friend to bridge over my scrapper. I didn't remember what mission I had left her at and thought she was a couple missions away from the end. The old arc is down off Paragon Wiki (maybe it's under Ouro and I missed it?) so I couldn't check the mission titles and just auto-completed to save time. Yup... "You received 42 merits!..."
So besides wasting my chance to bridge the scrapper in, I ALSO never got the AM kill on my Controller. This was when I said "Screw it", set my scrapper to -1/x0 and was pleasently surprised to complete the entire arc in under 90 minutes. That was a whole lot of ninja-running to objectives, knocking them out and exiting. A couple didn't require me to defeat a single mob. It might be more of a challenge to take the Elite Bosses with another AT but it's nothing like the multi-day slog it used to be. -
I've been on failed Khans but they're never spectacular failures. Just eight people pounding away at Reichsman for a half hour and not getting him down far enough to trigger the first AV. Or finally getting the first AV and finding Reichsman totally healed before we finish it, leading people say say "I don't have four hours for this, sorry".
-
I've never seen people this interested in running Reichsman before
-
I totally sympathize with your problems however, having never seen this before (and never having had it happen to me), I had to laugh when I read it.
"Oh, you have got to be [ahem]-ing kidding me..." -
Perhaps some. But then, if you didn't like it, you could just use the original animations. Everyone's happy!

Quote:If I'm after realism, why am I falling off a skyscraper and surviving?I'm not sure I understand the argument. If you're after realism, why are you trying to use two pistols at once accurately?
But I'm not after complete realism, just somewhere closer along the spectrum between "exact real life" and "Crazy flip-out ninja gun moves to fire a single shot". Besides, asking for less over the top dual pistol moves (an an alternate animation) is a more likely granted request than asking for a whole new "Single Pistol" set to avoid having to fire two pistols accurately in the name of realism.
