Was curious if it is possible for the official team rosters to be consolidated into one thread? There are like 12 different threads of team rosters and thought it might be "cleaner" to simply put all rosters in one easy to access location?
Does the event coordinator have any plans for such actions?
TIA -
Depending on your budget, as i know those vary greatly from player to player....but the healing uniques that give the +recov bonuses are usually plenty for a stalker.
I "think" the two combined is like base stamina, check with the cool kids on that one to be sure though.
I believe many of the stalker "purists" would say that stamina isn't needed if you drop your target in a few hits, as it should be for stalkers. Then bug out and recover the meager amount you just used to take down that player. 30 seconds and you should be relatively ready to go again....ymmv. -
I don't have the disc to load the game onto my laptop and cannot download the client. Starting a new job that will have me traveling and in hotels alot so am trying to get installed on my laptop so i can market and such while on the road(dont think the laptop can run game smoothly enough to actually play but should be able to market.)
I tried creating a trial account too, but says the client download is corrupt or some such.
Not sure what to do, looked for anything in forums that is to do with "can't download game client" and got nothing. Not sure what else to search for except searching for something thats straight to the point??
TIA for any help/suggestions. -
Quote:No, it's based on their desires after probably hours and hours of deliberation, which none of us are privy to, so it's kind of ridiculous to ask players the philosophy/idea behind exemption.
If the OP wants to know why, they should ask the developers of the game, not their fellow players. This can generally be done by PM, not by posting a question in the "players answering other players' questions" forum. Of course, the OP needs to keep in mind that it's almost guaranteed that the developer(s)/OCR member(s) they contact will not divulge the answer.
LOL @this.
How do you know somebody here is not aware of the answer? Not to mention.....this is exactly where one should come to get some of their technical questions answered last time i checked.
This player base has answered some pretty "off the wall" stuff.....correctly, I might add. So...why not this question too? Seems perfectly reasonable to me... -
Quote:I don't think the advice was given with the idea it was going to teach that player anything about pvp. It was given based on the premise that the other player would gain a more intimate knowledge of the strengths/weaknesses, limitations, and basic survival techniques of the toon the elected to have PL'd.pretty much this.
If the OP is interested in pvp and has already done PVE (as it sounds from the original post) I would say to them "do yourself a favor and not bother with the lack of anything new to do pve-side and just get pl'd in PI or join a pvp sg that can level you up fast."
It's sound advice. It doesnt mean the player can't succeed if they don't grind, but if they do grind their way, they will obviously be much more familiar/comfortable playing with that toons powersets MUCH sooner in pvp, than had they PL'd their way.
Grinding also minimizes any input you may need to solicit for your builds as well as helps keep wasted respecs to a minimum.
All that being said.....I PL all the time, I waste respecs, and solicit advice for the builds that I PL instead of play.
All my toons are summer toons. Summer good, summer not. :P -
Quote:This applies moreso if you "out-level" an enhancement by 3 levels, not if you exemp down 3+ levels or sk up 3+ levels. ONLY if you out level them. This is also true for I/O's, you cannot sk up to high and you cannot exemp down too far to get the benefit of said IO. But in the case of I/O's there effectiveness never goes away no matter how far you out-level them or how far you exemp them. So why should their bonuses go away and be treated differently than the any other benefit of the IO? Not to mention an all lvl 33 build takes forever and a day to get together. Ive done it several times and it totally blows. Some builds can take months to put together all lvl 33 sets. In the case of PvP IO's good luck putting a set together in less than 12 months.Ummm, not to burst your bubble here, but it's not arbitrary at all. It existed before IOs were introduced.
Think about it, what level do you have to be to slot level 25 SOs? 22, right? And you have to be level 47 to slot level 50s. And they cease to function at all if you get more than 3 levels above them. That's how it's been since launch, and has never changed.
IOs are just following the same theme. The enhancement of the power itself still works, but you lose the set bonuses if you exemp more than 3 levels below the set. It's not arbitrary at all, they decided on 3 levels below because that's how SOs work.
Also, it was mentioned more than once that players who put in the time for their uber sets "should" get to keep their bonuses always...
Does that mean all others who spent time getting their "less than uber" sets are not as deserving? They earned those bonuses the same way you can earn purples, by putting time into the game. Why are they not entitled to the fruits of their labor? Just "screw them" huh, their time was not as "special" as captain purples time?
While I'm not worried about getting purples or pvp IO's, because most of my toons do in fact have them, I have hundreds or crafted items in base, and have absolutely ***** in market pvp for a long time now..........I still think that my lower toons with their hodge-podge set bonuses should get to keep their set bonuses. I assure you, my position on this is not purple envy, my toons are quite rich.
I definately do NOT have a problem with lower toons keeping their meager bonues when entering pvp. My money will still trump theirs, but it may make them a little more difficult for me to take down. This should mean more fun for me and them. The harder the kill was to get, the better I feel about the kill. But dont think for a moment I'm going to gimp my toons to their level to simulate that experience.
cuz i wont! -

Thanks for the replies.
Any chance it boosts perception?(I know I'm prolly "reaching" on this one)
TIA -
I have an /NRG Blaster and was curious if Power Boost affects his powers like Tactics or Assault, his Repulsion Field or Power Thrust, and if it affects Boost Range?
TIA -
I can really only share my ranged numbers, because thats all I really pay attention to on mine. I'm not really standing toe2toe in melee, so its not a huge issue, but off the top of my head, I "think" my melee def is like 48% in PvE nerfed to well under 30% in sirens, but again not sure on my melee.
My Ranged Def is approximately 70% and nerfed to 29% in sirens and I think nerfed to like 40% in RV.
Hope that helps a little.... -
lol, thread degrades to spelling and grammatical errors....always entertaining.

Twixt should be ashamed of himself. So should the President of his school. What an embarrassing excuse for a professor/president and embarrassing that they are actually considered adults, especially given the honor of teaching children and young adults.
Great examples and role models.....NOT. -
Dammit Epsilon.....you just "had" to wait to post on the build until "after" I already started slotting a bunch of these powers like I have them slotted in the build I posted....
The posted build went more than 24 hours without anyone coming and shredding it as a horror build. That never happens unless its not terrible. There is always someone who gets at it and says "your build is crap, do this instead" lol. I thought I was relatively safe to start slotting, and I hit 47 yesterday, ACK! *grumble grumble*
*quickly makes Eppy doll and stabs it with a red-hot poker*
Ok. I will stop doing what I'm doing with that build right now. I know you weren't intending on being mean, cruel, or unusual. You're just giving your opinion in an honest fashion, which is what I asked for.
But I am confused about this statement you made:
"Slotting for Defense on a stalker isn't a very good idea, with over 500% positional defence in PvE(Easily hard-capping), I had a total of 65% defense. . . ."
I am a defensive based stalker as /Nin, so I'm not understanding why I wouldn't slot for as much def as possible, playing to my supposed/intended strengths? I read from Arcanville's thread of Defense and it said that I would always have my defense selected by which ever defensive property is higher. Like, if I have 45% lethal and 70% ranged, being attacked by a ranged lethal attack would make my defense use the ranged number to calculate this attack. I don't have to worry about my lethal/smashing/fire def being super high if my melee/ ranged/aoe defenses are higher. At least thats how I thought it read? Did I misunderstand? I'm not quite sure what you mean by not keen to DR?
Also, I know that many folks preach about having knockback protection up the whazoo, but I almost never run into trouble with being KB'd all over the place, being chained with it, or rag-dolled too badly. Most of my current toons are sitting between 12-16, and again, I've "personally" never really ran into a KB beast who distressed me enough to make me think "holy crap I need more kb protection!" Do you have anything you could paddle me around RV with to show me I should stfu and just do it? Not looking to disrespect here, nor actually disagreeing, just would like an "i got rag-dolled" experience. Or just share a few examples of why I need 37pts of kb? Also, I thought that kb is classified as mez and that any mez powers cannot be chained on someone without them experiencing a "gap" of no one can "hold" me for "X" amount of seconds if I was just "held" by someone, and same for being kb'd? I could swear I read that or was told that.....and I have been under that impression ever since. I hate when I start feeling like a dope.....
I'll stop what I'm doing until I get more feedback from you or others, thanks for the input Epsilon. -
You might benefit more by just simply telling folks what you are willing to take for it to help speed up the process? Just a suggestion, no offense meant.
-
lol Bill. Thanks for the link and the advice on the drink.

PVP in this game is bit faster paced than many others, although it has been slowed down some by the designers, over the course of the last few issues.
It's a little out of balance but still loads of fun once you get a handle on how much different the powers work in PvP vs PvE.
There are LOTS and LOTS of different power combos to try, so no worry about running out of choices any time soon after you buy into the game. There are some complaints about the lack of universal usefulness of all AT's and powerset combos, resulting in many folks having somewhat similar powersets/builds and are often referred to as "cookie cutter" builds.
Cookie cutter builds will generally perform better than other less used AT's and/or power combos. But there are still MANY combinations that perform more than adaquately and do not fit the cookie cutter definition.
Because this game was not designed for PvP and it has a mostly PvE playerbase, there are understandably fewer PvP'ers and also many players who dislike PvP simply because its not PvE.
ymmv
Good Luck and hope to see you in one of the many PvP venues soon.
P.S.
Even if you dont like this games PvP, the PvE content and gameplay is VERY strong and has excellent replay value and variety. It's really, overall, a great game. -
I'm curious what defines which defense will be used by my build/toon when I'm being attacked in both PvE and PvP.
Is the distance the foe is from me when they attack me or is it the power they use? For example, if I am shot at with flares from 3 ft away, will my melee defense be responsible for protecting me, since the foe is in melee range, or is it still my ranged defensive numbers that protect me?
Thanks in advance. -
So I am taking BB's advice and going to keep the stalker I have now. Been messing with Mids a smidge and have come up with a build that I "hopefully" posted correctly for folks to view.
I have questions about the build, like, at what point do I stop trying to up my defensive numbers, before DR makes it useless to bother improving, and I should start to focus on buffing other attributes?
Will i be able to see invis heroes with just the +perception I have?
Was in RV with this toon the last couple of days, runnig solely with SO's, save one KB I/O, and felt as though I could get by with simply using AS, then spamming impale and shark slingshotting.....any flaws in this theory?(other than I wont have any real attack chain if I goto sirens or lower)
Any suggestions for improvements you may have are welcome.
TIA once again

I have always been irritated about how useless bounty is once you become even mediocre on a toon. I very recently re-upped my account and FINALLY got my brother and his RL friend to come into pvp with me. I took them to sirens, gave them a brief rundown of the zone, we took a quick tour of the boundaries and we were off and running. They actually enjoyed themselves so much it has re-kindled their interest in, not only the game itself, but to take their builds much more seriously.
Needless to say they burned through their inspires fairly quickly the first 30 mins we were in there, but they were managing their inspire use just fine, making a tray-full last for almost 2 hours, after being there a while.(maybe a "little" less than 2 hours, as I was feeding them the ones i wasn't using and some that I had spent my bounty rewards on for them so they didnt have to leave the zone.)
But......by nights end(some 4-5 hours later), my brother and his friend both asked me "why is the bounty we collected only good for medium inspires and cheap to get SO's, why does my bounty total go away if I leave the zone or log out, and why would a PvP player even want the SO's?"
I couldnt give them a good answer.....
So...I'm asking, why can't the bounty actually mean something more than inspires and SO's? I rarely burn through more than a tray of inspires in a few hour session. The SO's are truely useless to me and I suspect most feel the same way?
What would be so terrible about allowing the bounty to NOT disappear everytime we leave the zone and/or log out, but rather allowing it to accumulate so that the bounty collected can be turned into actually be put towards purchasing something that will improve my build or other toons I'm building, like merits/tickets and such?
It honestly makes no sense to me and apparently not to pvp new-comers either.
Is this ever going to change? I sure would like to rack up 50,000-100,000 in bounty and trade it in for a recipe that I don't want to pay for, or one that I cannot get my hands on because there aren't any available, like a gladiators armor resistance recipe or something like that...(somewhat rare, but hey, it happens)
I know....*ahem*...I mean...I "believe" the pvp recipe drop rates are horribly scarce to drop as it is, and this or something "like" this would really help that out a bunch. I would think it could be implemented into all pvp zones without a poop-ton of work, no?
I can't tell you how many times i've logged out of sirens with a bunch of leftover bounty going to waste because i have a full tray of inspires and....well....who the heck wants SO's anymore.....
Have the devs ever even considered changing this, I'm very curious.
TIA -
Ok BB, I am gonna put the necessary funds into the build and see how it shakes out.
I do have a question about blinding powder....do I want/need this power? I'm inclined to think I do not need it, as I've never taken it before, but hard to judge something you've never taken/used, right?
If I don't need it, great. If I do need it...what level do I want to take it at and what is the recommended slotting for this power to be effective for me?
Next question is about the fitness pool. Will I need it on this build? I know on my EM/Reg i did not have it and really didn't have any end issues persay. Will I have a similar experience with /Nin or will i need to plan a build that includes fitness pool?
Once again, TIA
EDIT: Kuji-in Retsu.....want it or don't want it? Again, have never taken it previously. -
I rolled an Ice/Ice blaster and enjoyed him a bunch in PvE. I took into PvP and was slapped in the puss with the reality that I didnt have a good build....
So I respec'd him and messed with 3-4 different builds burning through some respecs in a couple weeks and wound up kinda pissed off.
He is lvl 50, so its not that he is still "young" yet.
Is there really no hope for this cat, or am I just simply not able to build a proper blaster for PvP purposes with his powerset combo?
Any advice on how to make him a bit more...lolfearsome?
TIA
EDIT: Am open to re-rolling if need be
