Starting PvP?
Well, here's a good overview on CoX PvP. The PvP zones are closed to anyone under level 15, and since Trial Accounts are locked below that, you probably couldn't experience much of that content without at least a month's subscription.
But you can access an Arena terminal (from Port Oakes, Galaxy City, or Pocket D if you're a lowbie) and see if you can find some Arena PvP. I hear PvP's pretty quiet these days, though: the game wasn't designed with PvP in mind, and it never caught on after it was added on later.
And in the time it took me to type this, I'm sure someone beat me to the answer.
Edit: Can't believe I was first to answer! <does the cabbage patch>

Well if PvP is your thing then you probably won't like this game.
It was added to the game after launch, rebalanced several times to apparently nobody's liking. Also powers act very differently in PvP than PvE including Mez duration and damage done.
If you want to read up on types of PvP then here's the page from our wiki.

PVP in this game is bit faster paced than many others, although it has been slowed down some by the designers, over the course of the last few issues.
It's a little out of balance but still loads of fun once you get a handle on how much different the powers work in PvP vs PvE.
There are LOTS and LOTS of different power combos to try, so no worry about running out of choices any time soon after you buy into the game. There are some complaints about the lack of universal usefulness of all AT's and powerset combos, resulting in many folks having somewhat similar powersets/builds and are often referred to as "cookie cutter" builds.
Cookie cutter builds will generally perform better than other less used AT's and/or power combos. But there are still MANY combinations that perform more than adaquately and do not fit the cookie cutter definition.
Because this game was not designed for PvP and it has a mostly PvE playerbase, there are understandably fewer PvP'ers and also many players who dislike PvP simply because its not PvE.

Good Luck and hope to see you in one of the many PvP venues soon.
P.S.
Even if you dont like this games PvP, the PvE content and gameplay is VERY strong and has excellent replay value and variety. It's really, overall, a great game.
Although personally not a big fan of PvP in general, I think AresSupreme has his heart in the right place. This thread might be of some help to you....http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=196783

I'm on a trial account. I'm all about PvP in other MMORPGs. I want to try PvP before I buy.
What level do I have to reach to start PvP?
What kind of PvP is available?
How do I participate in it?
Thanks
