I had one, but ate it.

That was just a cookie that you wrote on with icing. -
Logged out to login from a copleted mission... After about 30 seconds on 0 of the countdown, it popped up a window saying "City of Heroes encountered an error. Please report this to Cryptic Studios on the beta forums. Thank you." First time I ever got a message that said anything like that. The message it copied to my clipboard was:
"Assertion failed

Yup, the combo unit will only support 1 Teleporter and a Medbay, or 2 Teleporters with nothing else. You're going to have the work up the prestige for an energy room with generator, and a control room with a real control unit.

OK, I rolled a WP/DB Tanker yesterday and played her up to lvl 6. Her name is Reform School Girl.
[/ QUOTE ]
You wouldn't have gotten that name if you had tried it two weeks ago... >.< Now I kinda regret deleting her. Oh well, if you got the inspiration from the same place as I then I think I've got the better name (character list link, Fire/Kin troller).
Anyway, I've got a couple tankers, I'll probably be on well before the event and I'll figure out who to play. -

Happy Birthday Pep and um yeah guardian is the threadjacking server welcome

Think my tank is still over there collecting dust for years now shes invun/ss I think lvl 5 or 6

That's the one that you went to with me. We got there a bit late, but we still got titles from Ex.
I'll be there for this one. No classes on Tuesday, would suck if it was Tanker Thursday >.< -

A bug with the Magic Bolero: There currently is no color selector for setting the internal colors -- they always default to black/black.
There is a workaround for this: Switch from Magic Bolero to Trenchcoat, then select the coat tail and set the Interior Colors to the colors you would like. Switch back to the Magic Bolero then, and the interior colors should remain as you set them for the trench.
While there is a way around this, the Magic Bolero really should have it's own selectors for the interior colors.
[/ QUOTE ]
The workaround is all well and good until you try to set SG colors. There's no way to change the inner color of the bolero for SG mode. Jay, please fix this. I'm a bit surprised that this actually went live like this. Considering that Trenchcoats had the same exact problem originally, as did the newer butt-capes, you would think that this would be something to check before adding any cape-like costume piece. -

Anyway, Prestige isn't that tough to generate, believe me. Without using Comm Officer farming, I managed to generate over 200K in Prestige for one SG, playing one character mostly solo, in the past month. It just is dependent on time played, just like everything else in this game. If you're playing enough to keep leveling up, you're playing enough to generate the Prestige.

I used two of my AE arcs (Supa Dupa Cookie Caper and Supa Duplicity on @Johnstone and @Johnstone 2 respectively) and ran each one as a duo (BS/WP and an Emp/Sonic) once the other night. Took a little while, but about a normal night's worth of play (SDCC's on the Atta map) and I walked away with 100k prestige earned for my new solo SG. I suppose you could call them farms, but I don't think they really fit the description of exploitative farming that Posi put forth. -
I haven't done a guide, but I have made two Native American themed costumes/characters. My widow got this look (I know, that's a DB scrapper in Outbreak, I don't have any good shots of my Widow in that costume). And her father sported this look.
I'd be interested to see what you put together for a guide since I think the Native American look is a tough one to pull off in this game. -

There's one problem I see with this. If the AE is consolidated down to one zone, then there will be no quiet AE buildings for me to just work on my stories and solo-test them. I like being able to go to a less-populated zone and work without too many distractions. This would be impossible if all AE doors led to the same zone. It would also further defeat the purpose of having any other sort of zone-teleporting power, unless they make it function like the SG base entrance where it spits you back out only in the zone that you can from. Although, to do that, I think they might have to set the AE up to be a different kind of zone, similar to missions/bases; I don't know though, maybe it could work.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'll give you the same suggestion a pro-farmer gave me: move to a less populated server. I know, I know, you've likely played on the same server for five years now, and all your characters are on your home server, but its only fair that, since you're the one with the complaint, that you're the one who has to move.
<That was meant ironically and tongue in cheek>
[/ QUOTE ]
Did you notice my "Loc"? I'm on Guardian. I *am* on one of the less populated servers. It's still damn noisy in the AP AE. -
[ QUOTE ]
Many of the complaints against the overwhelming presence of MA farmers would be ameliorated by one action: make the AE center its own zone, along the same lines as Pocket D..

What I think would be a *possibly* better solution would be for the devs to just acknowledge that people are going to farm - no matter how much they're told not to - and make a new zone for it. I know, I know, new zone for just the farmers? What the hell am I thinking? Well, it would benefit the farmers and the whiners. In my head, this new zone is called The Farm and it's set up to look like an actual farm to poke fun at the farmers (heck, maybe just re-use the one Croatoa map), but with an AE building in it; throw in a trainer, a crafting spot, and an auction house and they're set. The Farm could be connected to the yellow line trains and then the farming could be completely contained. Now, once The Farm is set up; make it a ban-able offense to broadcast farms in any other zone. If you want to farm, you *need* to be in the right zone, no exceptions. If you don't ever want to farm, just don't go to The Farm (just like PvP zones; don't wanna PvP, don't go. Also, the zone shouldn't get any exploration badges put into it so that it doesn't force non-farming badge-hunters [isn't that an oxymoron?] to go there.) If you do want to farm, you're free to go to The Farm and bust out your pitchfork and hoe and get to work.
Heck, throw in some witty dialogue that pokes fun at farming for any NPCs in The Farm and the devs will have a way to vent some of their frustration at the farmers while giving them what they want. I wouldn't say this is a perfect solution, but it would give everyone what they want; and I'm sure the devs would get some satisfaction from watching farmers get banned for broadcasting their farms outside of The Farm.
Also, I do farm occasionally. When you have as many toons as I do, you get tired of running through the same low level missions over and over again; sometimes it's nice to skip by it and move on to the more interesting aspects of the game (I'd much rather fight Malta and Carnies with a full arsenal of attacks than trudge through the lower levels fighting Trolls and Outcasts waiting for my two attack powers to recharge; also, low level CoT vs. high level CoT, I'd much rather fight the high level ones since it means I am more equipped to deal with them).
tl;dr: Segregate the farmers into a new zone. Ban people who try to farm outside of the new zone. -

WOOT! I'm right in the middle of the pic used, especially noticeable in the ZAM article. I was all upset at first when I saw the pic with the Anniversary text since it was right on top of me, but then I saw it without and was quite happy. I'm the one with a purple mohawk and a kilt on (and yes, actually, I can use that description to describe my real self too). That is all. *does a happy dance* -
On the subject of avatars, am I the only person on these boards who actually uses a picture of himself as his avatar? I feel so alone...
Although, I do agree with everyone else, use whatever you want to look at. I just happen to have a self portrait that I really like the look of, so I use it as my avatar just about everywhere. -
Arc Name: The Supa Dupa Cookie Caper
Author: @Onuris
Arc ID: 89755
Description: Supa Dupa Trolls have kidnapped a troop of Girl Scouts and their cookies. You must save them!
Length: It's just one mish, but it's on the Atta map. Takes just under 2 hours for my BS/WP to fully clear the map, that's including them all getting up.
Difficulty: Supa Dupa Trolls are Standard Super Strength and Extreme Regen Lieutenants, they are the only mob type in the custom group, there is also a Boss that will spawn with the same powersets. I designed the Supa Dupa Trolls so that they would get back up with Revive after I killed each one. It doubles the fun, and influence and ticket chances; and doesn't quite double the time since Revive doesn't put them back up at full health.
If solo... It varies by AT, Brutes and Scrappers should have no problem at all. Tankers shouldn't have a problem but it will likely take them a bit longer. Masterminds shouldn't have any problems. Blasters should be able to handle it if they play smart. Corruptors and Defenders should do alright if their build allows them to take on multiple lieuts at once. VEATs should do alright, so should a well built HEAT. I wouldn't recommend soloing it with a controller or dominator if you rely on control, since they are all Lieutenants with Extreme Regen (so they have revive for double the fun and such) they also have pretty decent mez protection.
I have not yet seen how it would go teamed. I would like to see how it runs with a full team some time though, probably next weekend, the 25th or 26th. Running it solo got me a bonus of 1,972 tickets and 2,209 today. Should be pretty awesome on a good team. If you're interested, send an offline global tell, a PM on the boards, or an in-game email to Annon.
Updated: The mission is now set to level 53 thanks to a humorous cameo. The last run I did of it was a little more than two hours and netted me a bonus of 2,455 tickets and about 10 million influence. -
I have another to torture you all with.
Arc Name: Nnnngggghhhh... Arrrrggghh... [aka Clues are Your Friends]
Author: @Onuris
Publish Number: 81194
Description: A zombie contact sends you to a destroyed section of the city where there's all sorts of crazy stuff happening for no reason at all. Eventually, you find out that it was for a reason, and it makes more sense. Just make sure to read all the clues or you'll end up really confused, or you'll just think that it was a poorly executed story. And keep in mind that the first two missions are like that for a reason, just trust me and get through them; the rest, and the humor, should be enough to make up for it.
Length: Listed as very long, however, one of the missions requires no killing/arresting/defeating at all, so that goes by kinda fast. And the other missions are mostly on smaller maps. -
May as well throw my story at you all here too.
Arc Name: Stop the Music
Author: @Onuris
Publish Number: 26526
Description: The EmoKids are plotting to take over the music industry, and the world, with the help of a CD intended to brainwash all teenagers and convert them into whiny, self-deprecating shells of themselves. Your job is to beat up a bunch of EmoKids and foil their plans.
Enemy Group: Custom (The EmoKids). They're a pretty balanced group; almost all their powers are slashy weapons or sonic, with a little healing and mind control thrown in for good measure. (Reasoning for their powers is mostly provided in each unit's description, make sure you read them).
Length: 5 missions, Architect tells me it's very long. It can take a while if you solo it at low level; but higher level, or with a good team, it should fly right by. -

For example, the Baron With Vest option combined with the Renegade hat help pull together a fairly convincing zoot suit (in case you're wondering, I used the Boxing boots for substitute wingtips)
[/ QUOTE ]
Thanks! Hadn't thought about doing that, now The Swing King in my story has a much better look. Arc 26526 if you wanna see him
As for my actual characters...
For Evan Johnstone, my Peacebringer who is loosely based on myself, I gave him a rather expensive outfit by combining parts from the Valkyrie, Cyborg, and Magic packs; seen here. And also updated his swashbuckler outfit
For Aragan Cabora, my Axe/WP Tanker, he also got an updated swashbuckler look. Unfortunately, the black makes the details hard to see.
My Fire/Fire Blaster, Gwynevieve, got an update to her witchy look.
As did my Fire/Kin Controller, Wendy O.
I think I threw a couple of the other pieces on some toons, but those are the major overhauls I did. -
I tried making a single mission generic story using my custom group. That mapserved me when I tried to publish as well. I'm guessing that it has something to do with my custom group. I haven't tried making a simple one with standard characters yet. Suppose I'll try that and see if I can narrow down the problem any more.
-
I realize I should not be double posting, but I have received no insight from my post in the technical issues board, so I am going to ask here.
Every time, and I have tried many many times, I attempt to publish my story, I lose connection to mapserver, and then eventually lose connection entirely. I have tried changing Windows Firewall settings to allow CoH thinking that it might be causing problems, but it did nothing. I can play other people's stories without any problem, but as soon as I attempt to publish my own, I mapserve and then when I reconnect, it doesn't stay connected all the time. It's getting rather aggravating. Any help at all would be appreciated. Thank you. -
I might be interested in participating again. Depends on if I keep my account active (the debate of whether or not it's worth 15$ a month to pay for a game that I don't get around to playing due to school). But yeah, if I stick around, I'll be making costumes.
-
Great work as always, Alex. I may be biased, but I love what you did with the fiend. I think my avatar might end up changing...
Edit: Just sent it to my phone and set it as the wallpaper, it was the perfect resolution for that. Looks great. -

Guardianite here, prolly one of the few here on the art forums that is.

I'm (one of) the other Guardianite(s) here (although I have toons everywhere, check my sig if you don't believe me). I don't post nor play much recently though. Busy quarter at school. I *should* be on a bit more over the holiday break though. I might even upload some of my art, none of it's CoH related though, mostly just school stuff. -
Happy Birthday to Alex's Grampa too!
And I'm sure you've never drawn any of my characters, but I offer a relatively new one anyway.
Unstable Fiend
He's a demon who got sick of doing the work of Satan and all that evil stuff. He ended up being randomly summoned by some inexperienced Hellions and took advantage of the situation to escape.
I think there's enough detail there for a sketch, if not it's the Justice pants with black and dark grey and then the sinister boots with the same colors. Aside from that, think it's all obvious.
Look forward to seeing what you do with him, Alex (Provided I'm not too late by the time I get done typing this all out heh). Thanks.
edit to mention: he's spines(dur)/willpower if that will affect anything about the sketch.
also, 300 more posts and I'll be "1337" woot lol -

and last but not least.... Allouette
Turns out i really suck at drawing someone with a bow and arrow.

You shouldn't be so hard on yourself. You have the angles of everything matching up properly there, something a lot of people wouldn't get right. It's actually rather well done and if you were to clean it up past the sketch stage, it'd make for a very nice piece (as would all of your stuff, you've got a really good style going on and a firm grasp of movement and gesture).
