Yeah, the sound effects are my biggest problem. Arc and Whirling sound great, but the rest sound weak.

Or... you know, you could just buy the archetype unlock instead.
-
Ok, well, I suppose I could grab that chance for heal even though it is reallllly low... or get the chance for lethal from Scirrocco or something...
-
It makes me lose aggro? I thought they just couldn't target me, not take away my taunting ability.

Quote:Thanks - what do you think about putting it in Frozen Aura?8sec, mag2 (PvE)

How long does the placate last? I was thinking that would be pretty cool in Frozen Aura for my tanker...?

Hopeling, part of it is that Elec really tackles everything that a TW player needs, when you want a set that has a damage aura - and that's extremely appealing.
A little recharge bonus thrown into a set with unlimited endurance is pretty nice, and TW adds a little defense to a set that has none.
WP really is pretty much the best one as there is nothing a TW/WP can't do well, but if you want a damage aura, Elec is pretty much the best choice....
HOWEVER at the time it was being evaluated, not everyone knew that during Momentum there is no redraw. I think if we give it time, we will see plenty TW/FA shortly. -

Quote:Ah, that's the problem then - if you are unfamiliar with the Invention system and market, I could see how you might think that there are no invention sets that go up to 50 that are desirable. Well, now you know, and can understand what we have been laughing at in this thread.I feel like I've misrepresented myself, so I'm just going to clarify:
There's nothing wrong with doing a build entirely on SOs, especially if you're not comfortable with the market or invention system. SOs are what the game was designed and balanced around.
It's the "set out at 47" that I take issue with. The people that do this know the invention system and likely have mids backing them up. Most of the sets these people use cap at levels 40 or below. There's just no reason to wait until 47 unless you just don't have the power until then.
There's still nothing "wrong" with doing things that way. It's just lazy, inefficient, and costly to maintain. Again, it's not wrong, but when you're comparing different methods of slotting up a character, this one's poor at best. -
Yeah I think both of us know that there isn't a set rule when it comes to the topic; which is why I said it the way I did.

Quote:Option 3 can be the most expensive outside of purples, simply because of shortage and the fact that you keep bonuses when exemplared. I am not sure how often you pay attention to the market, but many times level 50 set pieces are the cheapest recipes available when compared to earlier level versions.Ok, I'll give you three options:
1) Use enhancements which are cheap and single aspect but require maintenance every few levels to upgrade or replace.
2) Use enhancements which are relatively expensive, are single aspect, must be crafted, but do not require maintenance once slotted.
3) Use enhancements which are dirt cheap on the market, have several aspects which provide greater enhancement values than comparable single aspect ones, must be crafted, do not require maintenance once slotted, and occasionally give you set bonuses on top of all that.
Out of those three, option three is very often the cheapest and it gives you far better results while leveling your character.
Maybe using only SOs and only Common IOs isn't "poor planning." But if you can come up with a better term for "an alternative plan which yields worse results for a greater cost" that doesn't imply poor planning, I'm all ears. -
You guys totally deserve some time off for the holidays - I wish you Happy Holidays!

I never PVP. After reading the OP, I guess I don't get the anger. I never even knew this was going on.
...question is, how the heck does this affect anyone else? I don't get it. Does the OP have a PVP IO on the market that he can't get his 2 billion from or something? -
I also said I use vanillas at 32 - and I said it isn't unique, which is not the same as 'everybody's doing it' - and not using sets before 47 isn't 'poor planning' whatsoever.
-
Whirling has great impact effects, is what I meant.

Quote:Whew, for a minute there, I thought I actually said 'everybody's doing it' or even implied it - thank goodness I found out that you were just being your regular snarky self and putting words in my mouth!Because "everybody's doing it" has always been a valid excuse for poor planning.

I assume you didn't get one to 26 yet...
