Oh true, I hadn't thought about the Penny angle. No doubt she would have reassured him.

Interesting to read the responses.
My wife will be proud that a couple of you happened to fall in love with DB/WP, as that was her main too. -
I heard that the Defender forums are a good place to find one...

Ok, perhaps this might sound silly at first, but please think about it.
Now that we are nearing the end, and several of us have been around since the beginning...
1. Looking back, considering everything, which was your favorite archetype in the game?
2. In possible contrast, when it comes to your favorite character, what kind was it? List AT and the two main sets.
3. What AT did you evolve to enjoy over the years that you disliked initially?
My answers:
1. Defenders have always been my favorite. If you run a team for awhile and then toss a defender into the mix that is built right and knows what they are doing, there is a night & day difference. Defenders are the oil for the team's machine, and is the glue that keeps it together.
2. A fire/fire scrapper. Weird eh?
3. Dominators. I could not stand controllers and still dislike them. Dominators on the other hand, I grew to love and they are freaking nasty when built right and have permadom. Permadom is far easier to get than hitting the defense cap with most characters. Tankers get an honorable mention here as well. -
Quote:This is true, and it has been handled far better than in Champions. I haven't played it in years but I recall nearly no one teamed until they ran into a mission that required it and then they would all immediately leave. On the other hand, there isn't much social interaction in the scenario you are talking about either.Sigh..one thing I never understood was this....Teaming got better rewards to encourage people to team....This means to me that, if given a choice between *teaming* and *not teaming*, the most people would choose *not teaming*, otherwise, there would be no need to, err, "give players a cookie" for teaming..am I making sense?
That said, if a game wanted to get a large number of players, based on what I said above, it would be very smart to do away with the way better rewards for teaming, and toss forced teaming out the window.
I really really like Guildwar2 method of handling the Teaming Vs Solo quandry.
This morning I was running my Guardian through some Hearts (events) and I noticed an elementalist was fighting beside me in a lot of the Hearts I did...we were not on a "Team" but were helping each other, and each of us was getting our own rewards.
I like that.

I heard that the show went to hell after the first season.
...but in spirit of the thread, I also have exactly 24 level 50s. There are people with many, many more. I'm sure some will stop by and brag. -
Yeah that Colorado vote is going to be interesting - every state is going to be watching them - I assume CA in particular.
If you haven't heard, CO is going to legalize marijuana for recreational use. -
I was wondering if anyone was going to take Manticore to task over the killing of Sister Psyche, even when trying to save the world.

Quote:I'm proud that the evidence wasn't denounced. I'm glad they added a solo path for that vocal minority so they could continue feeding their need to escape from real-life anxiety. How cute.
Yup, the itrials were run all day and all night. Even more of a reason not to **** over the soloists over it.
Too bad we had all the whining fanboys bawling their eyes out that fixing the solo path would lead to the itrials never being run by anyone. Again, it was nothing more than a case of self-centered ******* telling us all, "**** you, I got mine."
Aside from that, you might want to read up on the difference between asocial and antisocial.
I forgot to mention, about two months ago I did spring cleaning on my channel and your old video got nixed - the one where I recorded your demo run of clearing the rooftops in the ITF. I figured after all these years no one was watching it anymore. -
Quote:Yeah, and again the same with Champions Online, and especially SWTOR. Bleh. The teaming in this game is what made me like it so much. Seems every other MMO HAS teaming available if you look fo rit, but it's mostly a soloish type game. This is one of the main reasons I didn't/don't really like GW2. I hate soloing...which is probably one reason I loved CoH so much - there was always the ability to team; made even easier with exemplaring and the super sk system. I loved the itrials....the league feeling was fun to me and felt very epic.. heroes/villains uniting together to achieve one goal (for varying reasons).

I disagree, and the evidence shows that's not true. iTrials were run all day and all night and there was a vocal minority that just repeatedly whined about it, making it appear that way. I also think that anything in this game that encouraged teaming was a plus. The problem comes in when the anti-socialists that come to escape their real-life anxiety flock to the game and think they should have it tailored to their personality quirks. I'm glad the devs stood their ground on this issue and continued creating end game content based on teaming and leagues.

Quote:Ehhhh maybe that's why some opt for the Unreal engine incarnations, because it is highly scalable yet can look fantastic.Everyone keeps saying they would love an MMO built around some high end FPS engine. The problem with that is it significantly reduces the number of machines that could possibly run it which in turn means you will need a fairly large percentage of owners of those machines to buy the game. And those who don't have the hardware will complain that the game looks ugly when they are forced to crank all the settings to minimum simply to get a playable frame rate at a non-native resolution. One of the reasons for WoW's success was that it played well on the integrated Intel, nVidia and AMD/ATI graphic solutions at the time, that you didn't need an expensive gaming desktop or laptop to play the game.
Couple that with the fact we have total freedom of movement in all 3 dimensions as oppose to the "run on rails" style that many FPS games with modern engines use to hide the fact that many of the buildings are nothing but a facade, a Potemkin village that only looks good from the angles you are allowed to view it from. -
Horrible math. This is stating 7 billion people watched Howard the Duck.
