Just a guess, but I'm expecting them to be bought per "series". For $5 you unlock all of "Who Will Die" and can play it at will. Once it's complete, the next series of monthly arcs will start and you can buy access to it (assuming you're not a VIP of course, since then it's free).

Quote:They don't need gifting to be able to do that - if they have both accounts, they can just spend the money on the second account to unlock AE and anything else they feel they need for PLing.I'm not sure if they would do the first one or not. It seems to me that it may be possible to abuse that. Buying the ability to play AE arcs on a F2P account means that anyone could create a second account with 1 character on it and use that 1 character to PL all their other characters. (Of course, first they would have to PL the new char on the F2P account). And I'm sure there are other examples that could be considered worse.

Quote:Billing Cycle, in this case, means the day each month that you would be charged if you paid only 1 month at a time, *not* the day every 3/6/12 months when you actually get hit up for the money.Appreciate the clarification, Z! I hope there will be some reconsideration about Paragon Points -- given this plan, I as a VIP would actually be penalized for being so loyal and get no point alottment until 2013, likely about 16 months after freedom goes live / ' :
Perhaps, you could discuss a one-time upfront payment when Freedom goes live and then dole out paragon points at each billing cycle thereafter? -
Quote:I'm wondering if they'l sell it by "series". For example, for 400 pts you unlock the "One Will Die" series, and can play thru all of the missions either immediately, or as they're released if the story is still in progress. Once "One Will Die" is complete, it will remain in the store, and the next Sig Arc will be added to the store for 400 pts.I'm not sure how that meshes with the ability for Premium members to buy Signature Story Arc access for 400 points. I could see it being $5 for access to a specific month's arc (especially if VIPs only unlock arcs for the months their billing cycle started on). It'd be weird if you can spend $5 and get access to all seven "Who Will Die?" arcs as they come out, as that would make the VIP subscription seem like a bit less of an awesome deal. It would also make more sense to keep each part of the story on the market, available to be purchased. At 400 points, the minimum bundle of points, it'd be a good taste for new players looking to spend money to become Premium members - but only if they can start at the beginning.
It'd also do nothing but frustrate players and make them question returning to (or since they can return for free, paying for) the game if they can't play the previous part(s), especially if they have to take a break from the game due to school, work, family, or other Real Life problems. It would make a subscriber feel like a VIP if they paid for a few months, have a Real Life situation to deal with, and get to come back to find that even though their subscription expired their account unlocked the Signature Story Arcs for the months their billing cycle started in, waiting to be played. If they pay for 3 months and were gone 4, they even have some points saved up to buy the 4th arc they missed. That's the way it should work. (Or if Paragon's feeling generous and innovative, have "Playable" and "Unlocked" states - Unlocked is bought or VIP-billing-started-during-the-month-of, while Playable is only while actively a VIP and applies to arcs released during months a player wasn't VIP. Incentive to remain a VIP is that they're permanently unlocked or otherwise available to go back and play.)
In short: they should be doing everything possible to make this something people want to spend their money on. Signature Story Arcs won't be a selling point of VIP status if we're on part 3 of 7 and parts 1 and 2 are gone forever. -
Two things have come to mind as I think about this:
1. Devs, do *NOT* have the character die to save us. That would be the ultimate way of minimizing the worth of the PCs.
2. I'm wondering about the possibility of it being Sissy and Manti. With everyone knowing that a hero is going to die, the emotional impact of that death is going to be reduced. A second, unexpected death could restore the intended level of drama. -
My personal solution would be to give an extra 5 tokens to any EU account that started the first month after EU release, and another 5 (or however many they need to be "even") to any EU account that has been active continuously since then.

You can do it with rotating binds. Have one bind set your first choice and load the other bindfile. This contains the commands that will change back to default and re-laod the first bind.
You'll need to look at a guide to get the exact commands, I don't recall them off-hand. -
Quote:or saw it at SDCC and can therefore talk about it freely.
- Anyone who can tell you about #1 is in beta. Therefore they aren't supposed to be talking about it yet.
Quote:technically power pools are not available till lvl 6, so a travel power would be the first thing you could pick from being accessible at lvl 4, then lvl 6 the first 2 powers would open up im assuming the current powers for lvl 20 such as group fly will basically switch to the position that regular fly is in at lvl 14 and have the prerequisite of 1 power, and then the new power afterburner will take its place at lvl 20 and have prerequisite of 2 powers** -
Reading between the lines, I think she has actually seen the entire movie, just never one sitting from start to finish.

Quote:Just watched the video of the entire panel that GameSpot has up, and Posi specifically showed a picture of those eight characters and said that one of them would die.Don't be too sure. All I heard Matt say in yesterday's Ustream was "signature character". He didn't say anything about "Surviving Eight" or "Freedom Phalanx". "Signature Character" could mean Azuria or Fusionette or Lord Nemesis if Matt and Company felt they could create a dramatic story out of their death.
All that said, my inf is still on Manticore, though this business of Positron being sweet on Numina might be a way of signing her death warrant... er, her undeath warrant... or something. -
It's you. Your character is deleted when you complete the arc.

I'm actually beginning to wonder if we haven't been over-estimating the time to release (and consequently, the PP/Tokens we'll have). If they're happy enough with the build they have to have it playable at SDCC, I wonder if a release in time for the US Labor Day weekend (Sep 3-5) might be in the cards.

Quote:I highly doubt this is the case, and would be...unwise. You also wouldn't get "one every three months" you'd get one every month, that's how the system works. I HIGHLY suspect they won't do this, but would be happy if I was wrong, it could be somewhat ill-advised however.
Typo on my part, it should have been "three tokens at a time, once every three months"
Can some other UStream junkie back me up on this, that Paragon Points are always awarded monthly, but Reward Tokens are awarded en masse at time of renewal for multi-month subs? -
Got a code, entered it, got this message...
"The supplied serial code is valid, but it can not be used to create a new account and it can not be applied to any accounts you already have."
Got that both from attempting to apply from the NC master account screen, and from the "Upgrade Account" option for my CoH account. -
Quote:Incorrect. Paragon Points are awarded monthly on your "billing day", even if you have a multi-month subscription. However, it was specifically stated in the UStream with Posi and WW that *Reward Tokens* are front-loaded for multi-month subcribers. If you use a 3-month recurring sub, you will get three tokens at a time, one every three months. Everything is subject to change, of course, but that's the info we've been given. Also, Positron did not say that people receive their tokens upfront, i.e. if I buy a 12 month subscription I do not immdeately receive 13 tokens, I receive 1 a month for 12 months, and then one at the end when I hit my year subscription. Just like the current system doesn't reward "pre-paying" the new one won't either. Unless I'm corrected on this point (which I would be happy about) I'm fairly sure this is how it works.

Yes, the most recently released set of Proliferated sets (the one with dark blast for Blasters, and nothing for Doms) is a component of i21/Freedom. That was from the UStream with..uh.. Synapse(?).
-
Quote:Confirmed by Posi in the Audience chat during today's Ustream - if you have it unlocked before Freedom, you'll have it unlocked after Freedom. And did nobody see the last panel where it says "Veteran players may start at Tier 7+." And then goes on to say, "They'll get nearly everything for free."?
That part really worries me. I've been playing almost five years now. Perhaps by the time i21 hits, I -will- have six years under my belt. I surely don't want to pay anything to get back to where I am now, nor wait until it becomes available to me again.
Prefer redname confirmation on this. -
Better yet, have *him* petition about it.

Or is it just the Freedom Friday Q&A on Facebook?

Somewhere or another, a redname stated that the Signature arcs deal with the Signature characters. It looks like the new tutorial is a "Signature arc with BABs, and it wouldn't surprise me if they started at low levels and worked their way up. With that in mind, I'm going to say that the first arc will involve Clockwork, becasue of their link to the Siganture Hero involved... Blue Steel.
