    When did Statesman go emo?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Heh. That's not Statesman. That's Texas Titan, who founded Lone STAR.

    3) When is someone going to finally snatch you up and put you to work on a regular comic?!?

    [/ QUOTE ]

That's the real question, isn't it? It still boggles my mind that he doesn't work for a comics or gaming company.

Once again, DJ, you've done amazing work. Thanks for the fantastic art!
  2. Two quick questions with regard to the game's history, since I can't remember the answers:

    1. In the game world now, what year is it? Is the upcoming Issue 10 Rikti invasion taking place in 2007, or is it a different year?

    2. Since WW2 has cropped up in various arcs in the past, along with Axis figures like Hitler, can I safely assume that it also applies to members of the Allies, like Churchill, Stalin, and FDR? Would they also exist in this game's world?

Any answers would be appreciated. Thanks!
  3. Fantastic work as always, DJ. Maybe someday I'll have you render one of my characters in full 3D.

    *checks bank account*

OK...it might take a while. But I'll do it.

My two favorite bits here? The blimp in Nearsighted Man's poster, and a particular statue in Sparky's. Nice touch.
  4. The only thing I'm wondering about right now is this:

Leadership/Vengeance will no longer stack from multiple casters. In other words, only one application of Vengeance buffs can enhance a group at a time.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'm fine with that. Really. I mostly play Defenders and support characters, and I'm usually the only one in the group with Vengeance in the first place.

What I want to know is does this apply to NPC's as well? It's really annoying to be fighting Nemesis with my Scrapper, and each time I kill a mob, there goes another round of Vengeance for them.

If this goes both ways, and NPC's can't stack it either, that would be cool.

In my mind, Arachnos broke you out and you are staying on the Rogue Isles (a sovereign nation) by the graces of Lord Recluse who could at any moment decide you are too much trouble and have you wiped out. Maybe you don’t’ want to work for Arachnos and that’s fine, but even a villain knows that sometimes you have to play along to survive. Choosing a Patron or facing the wrath of Recluse and all Arachnos.

    [/ QUOTE ]

That's pretty much my take on it.

And it also explains why these powers would be a one-time choice. You cast your lot with one of the Patrons in order to play nice with Arachnos, and to keep Recluse happy. Any attempts to leave that Patron's service (i.e., a respec) would be seen as a betrayal of that person, and by extension a betrayal of Arachnos.

It makes me wonder if all of this will somehow tie in to any betrayal (i.e., Villain to Hero, or Hero to Villain) quests that would come into the game in the future. This would mean that the only way out of Arachnos, and away from your Patron is to ultimately have a change of heart and switch sides.
  6. I've been playing CoH with my boyfriend since beta, and he's the one who got me interested in the game in the first place.

So far, we've only created one duo that is themed, and that was for CoV, where we made a pirate couple back from the dead to raid and pillage for treasure once again.

Other than that, we generally just create our own individual characters whose powers compliment each other, like when I made my Kin/Rad defender and he made an MA/Inv scrapper. We just flew through levels at crazy speed then. Fun times.
  7. The same thing happened to me. I have every HeroClix except Ghost Widow in my Collector's Edition.

My boyfriend, on the other hand, has all seven in his.

That bums me out. I was hoping to have the complete set. Hopefully something can be done to fix this.

EDIT: I ordered my CE box at GameStop to get the female helm, and my boyfriend got his from EB Games, if that matters at all.

I always play with SG members. Pick-up groups are extremely rare outside of trials or TFs, and even then we try to make it SG-only. Now you're telling me that I'm still not doing enough with my SG?

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Exactly.

For me, pretty much 100% of my time is spent with my SG. Pick up groups are non-existent for me. Trials and TF's with anyone not in my SG? That almost never happens either. I can count on one hand how often I've done that with all of my characters.

I spend all my time with my SG-mates because I genuinely like the people in Lone S.T.A.R., and because I enjoy our team camraderie. We generally get along, we work well together, and it's fun to spend time with my team.

And when someone in Lone S.T.A.R. hits 20, the offers to help with the costume and cape missions come from all directions, and the time comes to dedicate a slot for the SG uniform. It's pretty much a rite of passage for any character or alt to do that. And when we team up together, we wear it.

That uniform has significance. We're a Texas-based SG, together since beta, and still going strong with nearly the entire same core of founding members. The uniform we wear is based on the Texas flag, and, in its own way, fits into the storyline and background that we've created for ourselves. It's not a random look.

Suddenly saying that SG mode is where it's at when some people, like me, haven't even so much as glanced at SG mode since designing a themed uniform for the group, would be absurd.

I spend all of my in-game time with my team. I spend most of that time in missions with them. We plan TF's and trials, and we have an honor guard and an elaborate ceremony when someone hits 50.

That counts far more for players like me than the non-existent SG mode, which never gets used, and which absolutely shouldn't suddenly matter when it comes to bases.

Terrible, terrible idea. Seriously. It's just bad form to do this now when SG mode has never been a factor before.

    Just my 2 influence, anyways.
  9. That's absolutely fantastic! I'm still laughing, and now I have that song stuck in my head.

Great work! Oh, and happy birthday!

My kinetics defender is in even bigger trouble. The buffs and debuffs are centered around the target, and 90% of the time, I have to be in melee range myself. I don't want to be there for a second longer than I have to be, and SS helps in that regard because I can zip in and out to reduce my exposure time.

    [/ QUOTE ]

See, for me, that's the beauty of Kinetics. You can actually wade into the middle of combat and stay there and come out relatively unscathed. It's actually the best part of that powerset, IMO. I can stand in the middle of a group of mobs and not get as easily squished. It's brilliant.

And when you have a solid Tanker or Scrapper who knows how to control aggro, it's even better. Heh.

After 50 levels of standing in the back, out of melee range, and healing as an Empath, the ability of Kinetics to mix it up a bit in combat, and to survive was a nice change.

Eventually I'll learn new tactics, or I'll have to spend more slots on Swift, but why should I have to when there's nothing wrong with the way I'm playing now?

    [/ QUOTE ]

There may not be anything wrong with the way you're playing, but instead of looking at this as a nerf, why not look at is as a challenge? So you'd have to think on your feet a little bit more instead of going through the same attack pattern over and over and over. I can't see the issue in that, personally.
