My TF success rate is somewhere around 50%. Usually it's a matter of getting to the final boss and not being able to finish them off (although on some of them, it's because they're so freaking long that people start dropping out before it's over). I'm aware that you l33t types can kill Reichsman with unslotted Brawl and a Rock, but for the average PuG, it seems pretty binary: if you have the right mix of powers, you'll steamroll through, otherwise you're probably out of luck.
  2. I'll probably run a few of them through the Ramiel arc just for the heck of it. But most of them get played so rarely, they'll never earn enough shards to actually slot anything.

    KR Bank Mission

Same thing just happened to me with the Peregrine safeguard. I /bugged it, hopefully they can get it straightened out soon.

I guess it wouldn't be a new issue if it didn't break a few things.
  4. Like a lot of people, I usually "retire" a character at 50, so it's nice to have some new content for them. I do hope that at least some of the upcoming incarnate stuff will be solo-able, and not just a series of TFs.
  5. I keep reading that there's supposed to be some advance warning before one of those Cheating Circles of Death appears, but I never saw any such indication. I just got blindsided by them over and over again, as did the rest of the team, until we finally gave up. I'm glad some people are getting enjoyment out of it, but you couldn't pay me to run through that meat-grinder again.
  6. I originally intended to just get the Mac pack, for the mission teleporter. But the Magic and Wedding packs had some nice costume options, so I decided to splurge a little and get those too. And then those darn Science and Cyborg packs started looking at me with those sad puppy eyes, and the next thing you know...

    I'm such a sap.

Isn't that what Boomtown is for?
  8. I don't think I've ever asked someone directly for a build, but I've been known to copy ones that have been posted. I don't see anything wrong with it. Different people enjoy different aspects of the game. I like beating up bad guys. I like collecting badges. I like designing costumes. I don't like crunching numbers or min-maxing. I downloaded Mid's Planner once. I started it up, and then just kind of stared at it for five minutes, because I had no idea where to even begin with it. I'm sure it's very useful if you understand the numbers and know what you want.

I don't want a godmode build, and I'm not looking to be PL'd to 50 overnight. I just want to play the game and not feel like I'm horribly gimped. So if someone who actually understands all the ins and outs of the system is willing to share, then heck yeah I'm going to take advantage of it. Is that lazy? I suppose it is. But then, so is looking on the wiki to find out what the requirements for the Atlas Medallion are, or checking Vidiotmaps to see where the history plaques are located. People share information about the game all the time, I don't see why sharing builds is any different.
  9. Paradoxically, I do enjoy scavenger hunts, but I don't care that much about the lore. I click on all the History plaques, but I don't actually read them. In Arkham Asylum, I really liked running around after the main plot was finished, collecting all the little easter eggs I missed. Not because they were giving me vital information, but just because I loved the game so much, I wanted to spend more time with it.

When I'm playing an RPG, I'll usually plow straight through the first time, concentrating on the main plot. But then, if I enjoyed it, I'll go back through again and start trying to root out all the side-quests, find all the best gear, etc. If the game forced me to do all that on the first play-through, I'd probably find it frustrating, but as an optional thing, I enjoy it. It's a way to extend the experience. Replay value.

  11. I rolled a claws/regen scrapper named "Inevitable Cat-Girl" as a joke. (Bio: "Everyone rolls one sooner or later!") But I ended up really liking the combo and played her all the way to 50.
  12. The answer is obvious: War Witch is holding up two fingers. That means they're going to announce CoH 2.

Same thing happened to a friend of mine. He filed a support ticket, and they told him he was still missing Siege and Nightstar. I know he defeated both of those, because I was teamed up with him when he did it. Definitely bugged.
  14. As a tie-in to the upcoming CoH movie, all the Carnie Ring Mistresses have been remodeled to resemble Rosanne Barr. The outfits are still the same, though.
  15. I guess it depends on your AT, but I've never found Carnies to be that horrible. Malta are a thousand times worse.
  16. I'm downright single-minded compared to some of you guys.

Game is fullscreen. I don't have anything else running, unless I need to look something up on the wiki.

I mostly solo, or duo with a RL buddy. If I get invited to a PuG, and I'm not in the middle of something, I'll usually join for a few missions. I've been trying to do more TFs lately, just to see what they're like, but most of them have not been very interesting, and I don't like being "locked in" like that (i.e., if I need/want to leave in the middle, it's gonna screw things up for everyone else). I do like teaming up for mothership raids, Rikti/Zombie invasions, and whupping on Giant Monsters.

I tend to play one character at a time. Start 'em, run 'em up to 50 (or until I get bored with 'em), and then move on to a new one. I mostly play straight-up damage types (Scrapper, Blasters), playing support is a little too much micro-managing for my taste.

I like getting badges, but I'm pretty lazy about it. I'll grab the easy ones (like Exploration and History), and I'll usually run whatever toon I'm playing at the moment through the Holiday Events and get those. If I see I'm getting close to one of the Defeat badges, I might farm a little to push it over the top. But I don't generally bother with the more involved stuff like Field Crafter.

I enjoy designing costumes, and I make a point to unlock all the extra slots.
  17. Eh, what these people are really saying is, "I find the market confusing and irritating to deal with, and I wish it could be less so". Of course their proposed solutions aren't going to be any good -- if they understood the market, they wouldn't have any complaints in the first place.

And I can sympathize, because I don't really understand it either. But instead of trying to get the market changed, I just lowered my expectations.

    Team Poll

Laying out a strategy for a particular encounter is fine (e.g., are we gonna try and separate Romulus from his Nictus, or just Zerg Rush him?). But if I joined a PUG and the leader started spouting a bunch of DOs and DON'Ts for general gameplay, my impression would be "This person sounds really uptight and is probably not going to be much fun to play with." I don't think I've ever actually run into anyone like that, though.

Only to the extent that it will (at least initially) make it easier for casuals to pay the BUY IT NAO price, as they prefer. I don't think it will make people any more likely to learn how to "play" the market.
  21. I don't usually plan ahead. If I get 15-20 levels in and I'm really struggling, I might go to the guides section and find someone's build to copy. I tried using Mids' builder once, but it just confused me.

That's what I do as well. I use the number keys for my main attack chain, and everything else (toggles, o-portal, et. al.) I just click with the mouse.
