Why is it people from CoH think you have to follow some specific recipe of a Tank, healer, and damage dealers on every team? I don't run into this at all in CoV, but whenever I play CoH (rarely) I always get people swearing we need a tank or we need a healer. I like to run teams of Scrappers and Controllers, then just fill whatever spots are left....and my pug teams usually steamrole anything on invincible. I just don't get why some folks think you have to follow some formula to have an affective team. Is this an idea brought over from other MMOs?

I don't know about the on going debate you speak of, but my personal experience is that Scrappers don't do enough damage to make up for the lack of survivability compared to Brutes. A well built Brute can charge into any situation without concern, and if worst comes to worst, pop your tier nine. Scrappers our definetly tough, but in no way compare to a Brute. Meanwhile, I don't really feel like I kill things any faster with a scrapper than a brute....so whats the point? I think Scrappers should get an occasional 3x damage SUPER critical hit or something.
I hope Going Rogue isn't the end of proliferation cause I'm not happy with an "evil" claws scrapper. I want a claws brute....and a Katan Brute....and a Broadsword brute.....and.... -
Blinding Fient + Alabating Strike + Vengeful Slice + Sweeping Strike. Rinse and Repeat. If you don't wanna spend alot of Inf on globle recharge bonuses, you can throw in Power Slice between Sweeping Strike and Blinding Fient. This is a pretty easy continuos attack chain to do, you get the Vitals combo Xtra damage and the damage boost from Blinding Feint constantly. Great for single targets and if you use the Sweeping Strike cone right you can flatten entire mobs in seconds.
IMO you can't beat DB/WP. I have a DB/Fire and a DB/Elec also. They are fun, but my DB/Wp is out of this world. Good luck! -
Brutes our Scrappers on roids. We do just as much damage over time with our fury up. Some folks think it's hard to keep your fury full and it somehow makes you a slave to your fury bar. Others like myself don't even watch the fury bar and just play balls to the wall 100% of the time and end up killing [censored] just as fast as a Scrapper.
As far as tanking....if you build your brute right, you can tank pretty good. If the team that expects your to tank for them provide you with a few good buffs, you can tank just as well as a tanker.
In other words.....brootz iz 3Leet yo. We just need claws prolififerated over and we can officially rename this game City of Brutes, cause we own this [censored]. -
Idk, between the redraw from DP attacks to martial arts attacks, and then the redraw from whatever secondary you use....that might be a bit much.
-
There has been more laggy behavior on Freedom and Virtue lately. I have a great rig and connection, it is server side. Also most the teams I've been on have shared similiar complaints. It's not a constant thing, it seems to spike sometimes. I just try to stay outa Cap Diable and Atlas at all cost. Those two zones are the worst do to AE farm over crowding.
-
Ya know, I hear alot of people saying Dual Pistols will be for Blasters and Corruptors. What about Defenders and Dominators? Am I missing something obvious that would take these ATs out of the running for Dual Pistols?
-
Can we have a proliferation update before then? Claws for brutes plz.
-
I think farm, and lff should be added to the profanity list.

All the "best features" you just described is wnat has turned the MA into a giant farm machine. If the Devs are serious about not wanting to encourage farming, something will have to be done eventually, mate.
Besides, before MA all the lowbies that wanted to be PLed seemed to make it to Peregrine just fine.

Wrong as any mission can be farmed. In addition in your narrowly focused "attempt" to remove the AE bldg from Atlas to get the farmers out of Atlas, you fail to recognize it not about that at all.
Forcing lowbies to go to higher zones to team with friends is not something the devs are going to do at this point. That has to do with people that are playing SA's with friends of varying levels. You have decided this is ALL about farming when the exact oppositie is the reason they are not moving it from Atlas.

Nothing in this game needs to be balanced around the ability for a lvl 4 to be able to easily team with his lvl 50 buddy. If a 50 and a 4 really want to team up just to hang out anf it isn't about farming or PLing.....then the 50 can Exemplar down and come play in a lower zone. Your reasoning is very weak sauce. -

It's not about hating farmers. It's about lvl 30-50 farmers decending on Atlas and taking over. Atlas had enough going on already with people spamming for SG invites, Costume Contests, and Sewer teams. Add in the usual folks that hang out under Atlas every night just to socialize and you have a very full zone with lots going on. What has happened is the entire farming community packed thier virtual bags and moved from Peregrine to Atlas. Now, what was one of the more entertaining zones in the game is a total cluster [censored]. I can only imagine what a first time player logging into Atlas at lvl one must feel.
It's not about hating farmers. If they'd judt go back to a high level zone, I couldn't care less about what they do with thier time. They pay $15 a month just like me and can do what they want. I just think it is very unfortunate that with all of the zones in CoH....Atlas had to be the decided home to farming.
Easiest solution IMO is remove the EA building from Cap and Atlas, and put one in Peregrine and Grandville. Things would be right back to normal immediatly. -
Well if they could cap AE missions to whatever the lvl range of the particular zone is, that would fix everything IMO. 50s could still come to do AE fram in Atlas if they want....they would just have to do lvl 10 farms
They could still go farm lvl 54 boss AE missions all day in zones meant for 50s.

If you ignore Broadcast channel in mercy you will have a pretty hard time finding a sewer team....all the other "spam" you speak belongs in Atlas and is just fine. Lvl 54 boss farm spam does not belong in a lvl 1-10 zone. Period.

There is something fishy about your posts on this issue. Number one, Mercy is NOT a big hub for AE activity like Atlas, its "CAP". Number two there are no "sewer" teams in Mercy on Vils there are "bank" teams and no I don't buy that you just mixed things up. You sound like you are just parroting and the wrong stuff at that.
The last statement you made reminds me of a post about Costume Contest spam and how it didn't belong in Atlas and needed to be moved to Pocket D. You need to get over this because spam is spam wherever it is and since you are not spamming you don't get to decided where or what that is.
That's right mate you need to get over this.

Simply typed Mercy by accident. I obviously meant Atlas....not Mercy. I stand by the rest of the statement 100%. -

edited to correct an error* -
I had the same experience, but I went into the lvl 40 PvP zone the other day, and to my surprise it was fun. Me and about 10 other Brutes and Scrappers took turns dualing each other for about an hour. Some fights lasted less than a minute, most lasted about 2-3 minutes, and a few lasted over 5 minutes. From my short experience, I'd say the PvP changes are good.

I love all the activity in Atlas.
The place has a true City Of Heroes feel to it now. Steel Canyon and most recently Talos have had their time to shine, for now its Atlas and Cap. When Going Rogue comes out it will be somewhere else. Nothing new here at all.

Atlas has always been the hot spot for lowbies and 50s alike. Great place for costume contests and sewer runs, or just to hang out under the Atlas statue and BS with folks. Now it is a constant barrage of spamming AE Farms and broadcast is useless. You can't even get a sewer team going. It is disgusting and ridiculous. The worst part is all the farmers are standing around in the same [censored] building but refuse to use the Local channel. Idiots.
I really wish they'd just remove the AE building from Atlas and put one in Peregrine so things could go back to normal. They say they are against farming, but they turn Atlas into the farming capitol of CoH? -
Also, the AE building in Atlas is [censored] retarded. Like there wasn't enough going on there? There are like 5000 other zones in CoH....just remove the one from Atlas. That place is truly disgusting now. Makes the old Peregrine look like peacful walk in the park.

I think the best way to make it work would be to have one power called Ammo Diversification. This one power would give you the three toggles, but only one would run at a time. Toggling another one would automaticly shut the other off. Kinda how Combat Jumping turns off automaticly when you turn on Leaping and vice versa.
Again, I don't even want "magic" bullets....but this is a really cool idea. -
Is this a bug? I thought it was just how the game mechanics work. This is how I play my melee toons 100% of the time. Shockwave from claws is especially fun. The Shadow Maul in the OPs video was golden though. I've gotten pretty good over the years, but that one was just about perfect.
-
I don't like KB affects in any melee AT attacks. I think they should all be just low enough mag to do KD instead. If you like the KB affect you can always slot a KB IO in there and get that affect. Unfortunetly you can't slot anything to make the KB weaker and turn it into KD.
-
My biggest problem with the MA is that Peregrine and Grandville are now ghost towns. I can't find anyone to team with to do lvl 50 stuff except AE farmers. I don't mind soloing at lower levels, but at 50 I do mostly Trials and SF/TF, which takes more people. Guess it just shows that the majority of players are perfectly happy farming away rather than playing the game.
-
Another aspect is PvP. I'm no PvPer, I usually pop in a PvP zone 2-3 times a year. However, I don't recall my brute ever being beat by any Scrapper. Matter of fact, when I try to get scrappers to duel me, I usually get a response along the lines of "Hahaha That's funny" I'm not sure why it's funny, but I just assumed Scrappers were inferior to Brutes in PvP.
Like I sadi, I'm not really into PvP....but it should factor in when comparing Scrapper vs Brute. -
You have the option in game to turn the profanity filter on or off. Why would they not extend this to the MA? You should be able to say [censored] this or [censored] that all you want in your story arcs, only people with thier filter off should see it though.
-
Hmmm....not a bad idea. Even though I'm not a fan of the magic bullet thing. If it was going to be done, having a toggle for each type of round would be a very unique and fun idea.
