    Aside from minor glitches like that I have to say that this is about the best patch ever. Being able to zone with pets, power customization, all the new MA features, new difficulty settings with super sidekicking, email filter, even little touches like being able to see your current level in the experience bar window are awesome. Great job Devs!

    This made my day. But seriously why not just replace the sharks with Coralax which can leave the water and have ranged attacks?
  4. Wow! Changing the Granite armor would be a radical move that I'm surprisingly okay with. People who still want to change from itty bitty to a huge behemoth could shell out the 10 bucks and buy the Science pack after all (it really is worth it just for the emotes and costumes folks).
  5. You are right. The Brute should be the ideal partner. I teamed with a Battle Axe/DA with my Mind/Psi Dom and we made it to level 50 in record time. Incidentally, the Brute in question was Magic origin and really looked the part with a zombie/lich-type costume and a shovel as his campy yet deadly weapon of choice. If you do go this route you and your teammate should carefully select Patron power pool powers with an emphasis on Energy or Negative or Toxic damage to help out when you run into an AV that resists Psi and Lethal/Smashing.
  6. What makes Doms viable is their ability to stack status effects. At level six you should be trying to immobilize bosses (if you can't hold them) and then wear them down with your attacks from your secondary which hopefully have longer range. If facing a boss with long range attacks it helps if you keep moving. No idea if this works against the EB in question since I can't recall ever facing one at that level.

    Others have covered all this but I got to say that later on Fire/Elec is one awesome set combo with Imps and VS and Bonfire and the stacking stuns from Flashfire and TS you will be chewing through mobs like they are nothing.

  8. My advice would be to wait till 41 and then when you get Patron powers unlocked try Mu Mastery first then take Soul Mastery on your second build if you want. It's more expensive having two builds but you can do it farily cheaply if you limit yourself to SO enhancements which you can also get from the AE store in exchange for tickets.

    I say this only because having Power Sink and Ball Lightning can be a fun attack style even if you don't need the endurace yourself because it can drain all or nearly all of a mobs endurance and leave them standing around doing nothing. It's pretty sweet.
  9. Looks better and I'd really like to see this toon in action sometime to see how it all works. You've taken and slotted for more defense with Hover and Maneuvers than I've ever bothered with for a Dom and I'm curious to see how it impacts your survivability and how Assault works with the new and improved damage values post I15.

    Endurance drain can be very effective especially with Drain Psyche to slow recovery but relying on it solely seems like you'd just be gimping yourself by ignoring some of the best combos Mind/Psi has to offer like Telekinetic Thrust and Levitate. You don't have to give up diversity in order to take advantage of stacking complimentary powers though cause it's a pretty great set that way.

    I love Telekinesis myself and it's usually not hard to push the mobs into a corner or against a wall or just toggle it off once you've got it stacked with Dominate and or Total Domination. I think you can even just stand back far enough from the main fight that with its short range the mobs are held helpless at a distance from you but close enough to the Brute that you should get no complaints.

    As for Mass Hypnosis it's most useful as a panic button for those times when your party is about to get wiped such as when or somebody aggros too many mobs or a patrol ambushes you. It can also be used to greatly mitigate damage after your party has launched an Alpha strike.

    What? Are you seriously saying that the expansion is going to have only one new zone and a thinly disguised version of Steel Canyon at that? I just can't square this with the great work the devs have done on zones in the past.
  11. I'm trying to understand the tactics you'd use in a fight. So the idea would be to use Telekinesis as your primary control along with Terrify to get any mobs that misses and then Power Sink and Ball Lightning to drain their Endurance? Why take Mesmerize but not Mass Hypnosis? Sleeps are good because they aren't resisted as much as other status effects but why take the single target and not the AoE version? I guess this build could work but you'd probably have a lot easier time taking Confusion + Mass Confusion to help control mobs and some bosses and Dominate + Total Domination which can combine with Telekinesis and Domination and the Megalomaniac Accolade to enable to you be somewhat effective against EBs and even the occasional AV, especially with help from your teammates.

    Terrify works great on minions and even LTs but doesn't stack with anything else unless you take the Presence pool I guess. In fact you don't have anything that stacks with anything else except for the Endurance drain powers which might make for interesting and very active play but I suspect it will be tough going.
  12. Dominators are pretty much Blappers with controls so if you don't want to do another melee class I'd stay away from them and try a Corruptor or Mastermind.

    'Who is Jack?'

    Rick Dakan came up with the idea for City of Heroes and Michael Lewis put up the money and later became the CEO of the company but it was Jack Emmert who was the lead designer that made it a reality and without him the game might not exist or have been the success that it has. Whatever mistakes he may have made way back when or more recently you can't take that achievement away. Of course he's only one person and there have been lots of people who have had huge impact on this game, many of whom I bet never get any public recognition at all.

    I get the feeling that most people on the forums actually like the guy and it's only a small but vocal minority of people who bash Jack. Naturally most players don't even know who he is unless they frequent the boards.

    As far as I can tell the attitude the game designers for City of have is a much more open and interactive one than that of other games and while the designers often take a lot of heat for talking to the players as frequently as they do, they really deserve credit for making the effort.
  15. I don't think this is the right forum for PvP questions but my impression is that you have to start with having an aura like Blazing, Icicles, Death Shroud or something like Mud Pots to interrupt their Assassin Strikes.

    When Scourge happens, it can double the damage but most of the time it's way over-kill. The point is not Corruptor just being "better" at doing damage than Doms. I am not trying to be mean but Dominator's raw damage potential is way ahead of Corruptor in most cases. What Corruptors win is all the stacking buffs/debuffs.


    Again the point which I'm trying to make is being missed. Maximizing the damage output of a Dominator isn't as effective a way to play as concentrating power choices and slots on controls first and foremost. I never said anything about which AT solos better but that a Dom with a focus on controls is better than one that focuses on doing damage primarily. In other words most people won't see the full benefit of the I15 changes cause they are going to continue playing to a Dom's strengths which are controls and damage mitigation.

    DarkCurrent has noted how some of the attacks for Psi Assault cost more endurance than they are really worth and for this reason I think fitting in all of them is going to prove too costly for most and that this is how the Dev's probably want it for the sake of balance. Maybe it just comes down to differing play styles but I really don't find it useful to have a Dominator with an attack chain that includes all or nearly all of the secondary anyhow. On my lvl 50 Mind/Psi dom I decided to drop Mental Blast and Psionic Lance after respecting into having all the secondary attacks post I15 mostly because of never getting around to using them much before a fight was over.

    That's not what Mid's says. It seems to indicate that while the inherent is active it can increase a Corruptor's damage up to double the normal amount. Anyway the point was that Corrs are just better at doing damage than Doms which is why they have attacks as their primary power set. I've found playing a Dom to maximize damage output very ineffective while teaming or soloing.

There's a lot more that goes into it besides base damage like the fact that they have more AOE's that can be fired from a distance (and thus take less time to use since you don't have to run into and out of melee as much) Plus with their inherent which doubles their damage Corruptors just tend to get the majority of kills anyway. I haven't actually played very many Corrs red side to very high levels but when I team with one they always seem to do more damage than Doms present.

This is all very interesting but as far as most people playing Doms it places too much focus on how much damage they can do as opposed to what their main job is which is locking down mobs and providing mitigation. I tried maxing out the damage to my lvl 50 Mind/Psi Dom after the I15 changes by taking all the single target attacks and slotting them up but found that it required giving up too much control all in an effort to be a mini-Corruptor when I still wasn't doing as much damage as a Corr. Even when soloing it's often better to concentrate on mezzing the mobs and then attacking or you will just run out of End or Health points by trying to make doing damage your top priority. Also most people without optimally IO'ed out builds will have trouble fitting in both Mental Blast and Subdue, not to mention also trying to find room for Psionic Lance, because the powers are nearly identical now and either you will be on team with people who have better attacks than you so you won't really need them both or if soloing will again be using up all your End with an attack chain that is too long to be useful for a Dom.

    So of course as far as how most people play Doms they probably won't see anything like the kind of increases in damage mentioned here and in the case of Mind/Psi Doms will either break even or possibly lose ground slightly.

  22. I've an arc two both the Hydra and Scrapyarder GMs in it. Didn't know about the Devouring Earth one. You just add them as bosses to fight.
  23. Decent AE arcs aren't hard to find and there are a lot of them. I don't understand why you just don't stay in the AE building and start one of them instead.
  24. Just curious to know if this is still going on? How about changing the day to Saturdays and Wednesdays to avoid conflict with other events?

    Might I humbly suggest that the name of the link be changed to something more descriptive and intuitive such as full or classic view? The page it is on is already in English so clicking on that category name seems so unnecessary that I'm sure many people don't even realize it is a means to expand the forums.
