Welcome to the gang! You'll find masterminds get pretty uber
My limited experince of masterminds (got a robo/FF to 40) says that
Zombies tend to need summoning a lot, since they have to get into melee. The top level guy (Lich or something) gets some really snazzy utility powers. Oh, and you get an extra pet in the form of the ghost chap, who looks cool and does holds (I think).
Robos, especially high level robos mean gigadeath applied liberally to the enemy - lots of nice area effect powers can make large spawns drop in seconds.
I havn't payed enough attention to ninja and mercs to say much about them.
As for secondaries,
Force Field makes up for your total squishyness with the excellent Personal Force Field as an emergency button. Also, the Dispersion bubble gives you and your henches some nice mez protection. Also, as a nice utility power, detention field is great to remove a significant threat for a while so you can deal with his friends. No healing in this set, but I found it wasn't missed.
Dark is a really great set, Tar Patch is basically a damage buff and an area slow, which works very well with high level robos. There's also a hold, and the totally excellent Fearsome Stare, which essentially turns a whole spawn into simpering idiots. The first power is a big area heal, but it has a long animation time. Oh, and you get yet another pet!
Other sets I don't know too much about, but it looks like poison isn't that hot. I could be wrong -
This is always a thing on my mind when I think of Irradiator, and I'm thinking of remaking a PvP corruptor with this instead of Ice Blast, since it fits better with his costume and theme in general.
Question: what would you take?
Since rad is kinda better on the AoE side of things, it looks like you don't have that many powers to take. X-ray Beam or Neutrino Bolt (but never both, they don't chain well), Cosmic Burst and Aim and maybe, just maybe, Atomic Blast if you're feeling particularly insane. A possibility is Irradiate too, for the tasty defence debuff (slotted for that rather than damage). I can't see a snipe being useful for a PvP corruptor,
Cosmic Burst is an interesting one, it's got a shortish recharge time, fast animation, great damage and a good stun. Now, just for taking all those annoying acrobatics users you could slot this for stun rather than damage, stick with the damage or go with a compromise or 2 acc, 2 disorient, 2 damage. Since I don't think you've ever going to kill someone particularly fast with rad blast I'd be tempted to go with the compromise, but what would you do? -
Looks mostly OK to me. I'd swap enervating field to come after stamina, since it's so damn expensive to run.
Choking cloud won't really be effective without some hold duration slots -
Rad/ice? surely you mean Ice/rad?
The rad blast set isn't up to much compared with ice blast, since it's largely AoE attacks -
Good on ya Doulos!
I know how you feel I've been escaping a pretty bad year or so with CoH and it certainly becomes addictive to the point of not doing you any good.
Next step is to wean yourself off the forums -
It's a shame there's not more variety, but Ice is the best blast set for PvP by far

Dark is the ultimate secondary for everything beats others both defensively and offensively. (Darkest night and shadow fall alone are better than bubbles, and there's 7 more powers in the set)
And necromancery as primary because of the control from the henches, and ToHit debuff from attacks.

Dark better defensivly? PFF alone is reason enough to take the FF set, but on top of that you have dispersion bubble, force bubble (amazing!) detention field, force bolt. One of the little bubbles protects from end drain, super handy for facing the spec ops at 40+ -
Don't listen to these peeps telling you to take rain of fire late! Take is as soon as you can after tar patch. Rain of fire will do enormous damage to the tar patched guys.
One recharge in rain and 3 in tar patch will synchronise them. -
I've never ever seen blackstar
-
Easy targets? Tell that to the blaster and troller that tried to take me down last night in Warburg
Not a scratch, to either me or my bots -
I ended up not taking it, in favour of snipe for the awesome insane tactic of getting really badly hurt for defiance then sniping someone
Syn, what on earth does YMMV mean? -
commander beet, your thread here has convinced me that your brain is haemoraging thoughts directly out onto your keyboard. You're nuts!
I really like the idea about the epic travel powers -
Do I bother with Stun, or take something else that smacks hard?

Yeah, FF's got one heck of an advantage with that Personal Force Field... have a thought to us poor non-FF Masterminds who can't turn ourselves invincible at will.

Good point, FF users have an easier life than the others I think.
I'm PvP I saw a couple of /dark MMs totally owning. It was kinda scary! -
Don't know about PvP with MMs, but damn, my robo/FF is a PvE killing machine(s) with plenty of tricks too. No realy need to buff them up, except for perhaps the really early levels
-
That's an excellent tactic, one I've been using for ages. You don't need range enhancers in there tho.
-
Slot everything for knockback and go play PvP. That'd be sure to annoy the hell out of heroes
-
That's a brillaint idea! I'd have to come and at least watch this

Very nice, but still no word on the power I most want to know about, Artic Air
[/ QUOTE ]
I imagine that's a really hard one to measure, since it only takes effect when you get into the AoE and that's pretty close. I don't think you could really get solid number on it but you could get a good idea, seeing how many stealth effects you have to use to get past it. -

cheeky bugger... but we've not got one of them yet... all these people who know 40k really well and can justify the powers are getting away with madness! its cool!

So will you be getting robo/* MMs as techmarines then? -
robo/FF for the win! Stompy, noisey, lasery, firey, missiley, cylony fun!
Forcefield has lots of nice tricks, as well as the superb dispersion bubble that protects you from immob, stuns and holds -
Sign up Irradiator, lvl 50 rad defender
-
Because it's different, and Dark/Fire has the tools to at least try it.

About the Terror power - is it as good as Fearsom Stare? I swear my corruptor can perma terror people in PvP with that.
