I really don't get why people like Casino Royale. After what is easily the single best Bond opener ever filmed the movie spirals down past mediocrity into utter crap. Even the writers knew they were spewing junk so they resorted to actually killing Bond halfway through. But of course you don't kill the main character of your franchise, so you knew he'd be just hunky-dory in five minutes... and he was. So that scene was a total waste of time.

Gargan/Venom joined the government run Thunderbolts. Gargan lost the symbiote for reasons I don't know offhand, leaving the military with the suit. The military decides to temporarily give the suit to a current Spider-Man supporting cast member and send him on covert missions with it. I'll give it a shot, but it my interest really depends on who gets the suit.
In the most recent Spider-Man storyline, "Big Time" (which is superb, btw), Venom is captured and they rip the symbiote off of Gargan. Which almost kills him until a visitor steps in and offers a way to save him. Which is a nice tertiary storyline that's cooking along underneath the two main stories in the arc. Gargan will come back with a vengeance, I'm sure.

I'm thinking SHIELD will ultimately regret weaponizing the Venom symbiote, but if Dan Slott continues his excellent storytelling, it will be an extremely entertaining ride.

I forget his exact reasoning (which made sense when I read it like 10 years ago) but when he was drawing the book McFarlane intentionally put Spider-Man in as many limb breaking poses as he could.
Some writer at some point said that people were kind of creeped out by how Spider-man moved, so McFarlane was running with that concept. Super-flexible and "double-jointed" and fast = weird-looking.

Really false. One excellent movie in The Dark Knight, the end.

DC at the moment has better stories and better art.
I honestly can't recall the last time I read a regular DC series book I liked. A couple of their one-offs have been quite good, but overall I find them uninteresting.

This Venom is the worst idea EVER!
Based on appearances, maybe. I'll wait to see what they do with it. There have been plenty of other comics that seemed ridiculous on the face of it but turned out to be really good. I saw the previews and description for The 49ers and thought, "This is dumb - a whole world where everyone is a superhuman, even the janitor?" But it's terrific. X-23, the first successful clone of Wolverine... what an eye-rolling idea. But it is, hands down, the single best graphic novel I've read this decade.

So maybe this will be good, who knows?
  5. I knew that's where you are from, I just didn't think you were also using it as the character's background as well. Creative writing doesn't explain your natural talent but it does help explain your story craft, so now all the pieces are coming together.

Anyway, I'm eagerly awaiting the next pages.

  7. There was a general refutation of Number B and the upcoming animal pack is the result. I'm convinced they whipped up the wolf tail and tossed it into the Mutant Pack because of that outcry (and my super-awesome posts of all the different animals who have that exact tail). Lots of people said they weren't going to buy the Mutant Pack until that tail was added, a pretty convincing argument in favor of.

I'm just hoping the animal pack also has the tail, because I want it but have zero interest in anything else in the Mutant Pack.
  8. Anti-bacterial protection.
  9. Every now and again you'll hear music from the game on TV shows on the Discovery channel or the History channel. Themes that ship with Macs are popular, too.

  12. Are those just numbers next to the symbols or do they have descriptions as well? I know my IM2 disc is around here somewhere, but I can't find it at the moment.
  13. I must've missed something in Comrade Hero's background -- what's the NZ connection?

That character I actually have no problem with. It follows through on the concept with conviction.

Plus, you know, I've got Boom-Boom.

You must be referring to... well, I'm not sure, actually. The chest pieces and big gloves, maybe? Because the Resistance boots and pants as well the PPD pants would work fine on Natural characters.

Yeah you did. Because, seriously, wth? That's the single most retarded manimal design I've ever seen. Talk about a lazy Photoshop-like whatchamacallit.

On the topic of animal-headed toons, I think people who roleplay Egyptian-themed characters are going to be ecstatic when they see these.

...I am delighted to discover that "whatchamacallit" is not flagged as a misspelling.

  23. The only Bond movie I've ever genuinely enjoyed is For Your Eyes Only, and although I really like Craig I thought his two flicks were terrible, so I'm indifferent as to whether the franchise continues. I'm happy for those of you who like them, though.
