I have a few to choose from.
One of mine which gets a lot of "I can't believe you have that name!" exclamations is Space Cowboy. On Virtue.
I quite like Eleventeen. A robot named by a little girl.
Two of my anthro characters in the villain group Vermin are Slaughtermouse and Monkey Wench. Their heroic opponents in Wild Things include Razor Raccoon (a Claws Scrapper homage to Rocket Raccoon), Kung-Pow Chicken (a finger-lickin' good martial artist), Dynosaur (an electric lizard from an alternate Earth), and Boom-Boom the Panda, which gets a lot of praise.
One of my all-time favorite punny names is Nor'easter Bunny, a Playboy bunny bestowed with magical powers during a CoT attack on the Paragon City Playboy Club that took place in the midst of a, you guessed it, nor'easter. NB's evil counterpart is Ditzkrieg, whose bio is the only one I actually laughed out loud about while writing.
Also fond of Hell Toupe, a demon accountant who authorizes catgirls while working at the firm Heller-Highwater (say it out loud). Another demon is my whip MM named Whipper-Snapper.
Shockwave Rider is a reference to the proto-cyberpunk book by the late great John Brunner.
Flygirl and Jet Boy are sibling heroes.
Sleepless Knight is my immortal knight.
SonicDeathMunky is the simian mascot of Barry Jive and the Uptown Five. (Name that movie!)
My non-pun, classic superhero names that I really like include Switch Blade, a street-level vigilante, Mighty Lad, a teen transported from 1950 to today, Barbarian Boy, another teen who happens to be a fictional character brought to life, Doctor Omen, whose name says it all (c'mon, it's Doctor Omen! How can you not love that?), USAim, a Dual Guns guy, Star Guard, the cliche "alien cop stranded on Earth" guy, and lots more. -
Quote:I have 23 characters... times 10.I doubt I would do this, but I'm curious also. I'd like to hear something from someone who has both done this, and had fun with it. Either from a gameplay perspective, or a conceptual perspective.
I have 23 characters. Many of them are truly effective in combat. Some of them aren't. Some nights, all I want to do is play one who isn't. Why? Different reasons. Sometimes for the challenge, other times the concept is entertainment enough.
I've done this, just for fun. Vet Reward powers make it palatable, but it's not easy. I do rely on the best of the Power Pool attacks, Air Superiority, as well. That said, it's on par with soloing the weakest Defenders and Controllers in the early levels, so patience is required. Inherent Fitness probably makes him hugely easier, but I haven't been back to him lately. (That whole "times 10" thing.)
I also have a melee-only Blaster (who was hilarious fun to play before the change in knockback and the GDN; he's been shelved since Halloween '05), a MAN character (long since deleted) and my current crazy-what-was-I-thinking hardcore toon, Only Child, who is in his "terrible twos" -- meaning he will never level up past 2.
By comparison, a petless MM is not that big a deal. -
This just in: Hellboy Gets Better, or, Why We Would Be Total Idiots To Kill Off Our Cash Cow.

These are all awesome. I am totally stealing some of these designs!

Quote:It not a "Laser Rifle", it's a "Beam Rifle". All lasers are beams, but not all beams are lasers.Quote:But how many beams recoil? As far as I know, recoil is a result of the chemical reaction from gunpowder.
Actually, that's a weapon I can get behind: two-by-four gun!
I've even got the character name: Wotsa Tuba For? -

This is a job for Nippleless Cage!

Quote:Yeah, a laser gun is basically just a flashlight... that can punch through bodies. The smell of melting metal and plastic and whiff of burning flesh, yes. Recoil, no.Yeah that's my only real nitpick from what I saw. Beam weapons shouldn't have any noticeable recoil. In fact that's supposedly (theoretically?) one of their main advantages over standard gunpowder-type weapons. It seems like they just left in some recoil animation from previous gun models. Hope they end up cleaning it up a bit before launch.

Quote:Closer, but almost all of those have the electricity element to them, admittedly more pronounced than in others. It's just okay for me, not as cool as I had imagined when I first heard about it.For a better look at the beam/laser in each animation, here's a preview:

Power customization could render it closer to what you're looking for.
Plasma guns might. -
Mine was the least stable it's been all year. And when I'd log back in -- even when I actually logged out for the night -- it always said, "This account is currently logged in."

I made you a cake but couldn't figure out how to email it, so I ate it. Was totally thinking of you the whole time, though.
Happy birthday! -
I got about half a level on many alts. Many.

Spinning off Henri's comment in the Alt Alphabet thread, here's a starter set of my cybernetic centurions and mechanical monstrosities. Lots more where these came from.
Long since deleted from Virtue (or maybe Freedom), but I wish I'd kept her because the name is great.
Also deleted fairly recently, this was a goof I made way back in '04. As with most of my acronymic names, I backed into it starting with the name. "Annie McAnnie" was pretty challenging.
An older screenshot of my only L50 villain. (I should update these.) Technically a cyborg -- more than most, as he's a human brain in a robotic body.
Future Shock in one of my all-time favorite screenshots.
The newest robot on the block, I just made him this weekend. Based on the superbly superlative comic book character, Atomic Robo. I wish we had a plain chest piece to use, but oh well.
Another favorite of mine. I challenged myself to make a catgirl that I didn't dislike. It's not that I hate catgirls, it's just that they're *everywhere* nowadays. Similar to Future Shock, except it's a cat brain in a robot body. Catborg!
Another cyborg. I really like the fact that despite its complexity, his costume comes across as simple.
One of my original robots, made during the headstart, I believe. He was the second character I made on Virtue. When the time comes that we get ray guns and can respec powersets, I'll switch him from being a Defender to a blaster-totin'... um, Blaster.
Battlecry: That's the pompatus of love!

Thanks Henri.
I think a quarter of my characters are now some form of robot or cyborg at this point. We should make a thread just for our mechanical marvels.

Really? That's cool. I sent them an email and asked about a jumbo hardback collection and they told me one was coming out for the holidays. So that's going to #1 on my Christmas list.

I rather like the DB combos. Not the least reason because it is unique, so it's not overdone. It's not like they've gone crazy and added it to all the new powersets they've created since then. While it would be nice if they were more flexible (especially early on), I enjoy that powerset quite a lot. (In fact, I just got done playing my DB/WP Scrapper, Capt. Blood.)

Apparently RotPotA -- hmm, rot-pottah, works for me -- is number one again this weekend.
That kind of surprises me, given how popular The Help is. The theatre I saw The Help in was packed, albeit mostly with older women, and at the end the audience spontaneously applauded. I haven't seen that happen since a sneak preview of E.T.: The Extraterrestrial... 29 years ago.
I think both Apes and Help will have legs, since they're getting good word of mouth. The Help is quite good, and some reviews that claim it sugar-coats segregation are writing nonsense in the hopes of being controversial. -
Speaking of Atomic Robo, did you see my new guy down in the Alt Alphabet?
-
Quote:Sure, since they're robots designed to emulate demons to scare people.Demon Summoning is clearly themed around summoning magical creatures though magical means, but the game lets you give a Demon Summoner any origin you want.
Quote:I guess the game COULD be written so that it remains completely neutral in terms of all your character's traits, but that would probably end up making the writing rather bland in the end. -
