    Mutant Enemy

    Captain Tightpants (aka Captain Hammer)

    Doogie Howser as Dr. Horrible

    Great fun!

Go. Now. What are you waiting for?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Nothing. Of course, there are at least two, maybe three, threads about this in the Comic forum.
  2. Also, someone could snap pictures of her in action, then bring them in to be developed the next day. Now she has to decide whether or not to conveniently discover they're "ruined" or all underexposed.

    Tattooed TA?

It's flattering but definitely weird. I don't get tattoos. They aren't edgy unless you go for extremes (do the face!) and it's like a piece of clothing you can never take off.
  4. Looks really good so far. I'm definitely interested in seeing more.

Also, throw in a couple inside jokes. That gives you street cred. (Well, retail cred.) Just don't make the whole thing one long inside joke or those of us who are long removed from retail won't be able to follow it.

Don't do this: "So he bids four, then opens with the king, and all he has is left-king-jack with an off Ace!" "Ha! Where'd he learn to play, the little kids table at grandma's?!" If you play bid Euchre, that's funny because the guy is so dumb. Most people read that and go, "Bwah?"

I say we all storm Rob Liefeld's mansion and beat him with pillowcases full of oranges until he looks like one of his drawings!

Cool on the way back can we stop off at Greg Land's place?

    [/ QUOTE ]

    A curse on thee!

I like Greg Land's work. I've been re-reading Sojourn just this week, actually.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Land may be a world-class swiper along with Liefield, but at least he doesn't suck.

On that note, can anyone tell me why Rob Liefield is so hated? Is it because of his inventive anatomy style? I'm not a big fan, but he does have a distinct style...

    [/ QUOTE ]
Is "inventive anatomy style" a way of saying, "he can't draw bodies for [censored]"?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Seriously. Even Helen Keller today could draw better than Liefield.

I feel like I need to speak up about the "artists are better than writers because etc. etc....".

Do comics work without artists? Of course not. Do comics work without writers? Of course not. I don't think that making a broad, general statement that artists are superior to writers, in the comics field, is very valid. Most of the great characters in comics were created by writers, not artists. On the flip side, the one time a bunch of "superstar artists" got together and came up with some original content, the result was the Image line. Love or hate the Image line, it's tough to argue that anything the founding members did was anything other than shallow imitations of characters and stories from the companies they left.

    [/ QUOTE ]

As a writer, I'm a champion of writers. But regarding the comic book medium, the artist does have a greater degree of difficulty, which is what I think Sin Stalker meant. Marvel and DC tend to agree, because the artist gets a larger portion of the money, a 60-40 split as I recall.

I'm okay with that, because the artist's job *is* tougher than the writer's.
  8. [ QUOTE ]
I'm guessing that patience is in order. These will be more widely available at some point in the future.

    [/ QUOTE ]

That's definitely what I'm hoping for.

I've spent many a minute admiring the hardsuit of my detective contact in FF, wishing I could have that or something similar. Robots, androids and cyborgs are of particular interest to me and comprise a great number of the characters I've made. (My only two 50s are an android Blaster a cyborg Brute.)

    So yeah, do want.
  9. [ QUOTE ]

Then there's... dang it! Don't you hate when the perfect shot is ruined by random debris?

I'm a fan of score cards... let's look at the chronology here..

-OP comes and requests a comic done for free... and then insults the previous artists working on it.
-People say they understand his passion, but that his wording was wrong.
    -OP defends his position.
-I say that 200 hours of work should equal pay.
-OP says that doing work for free is a comon part of comics.
-OP PMs me and rants... and then asks me not to reply.
-OP posts on here askin people not to PM him.

Ok, that about does it so far.

    What's next?

    [/ QUOTE ]

I admit my wording was wrong. I should've been clearer in the initial posting. For that I apologize to everyone. I'm also apologetic for being cranky and being embittered by my three recent bad experiences.

Other writers here have emailed me that certain artists are a temperamental lot and that I shouldn't have let those 3 most recent events get to me. There will always be writers & artists who give the rest a bad name. I'm sorry for being so standoffish. Some artists even told me some horror stories they went through with other artists and writers.

Juggertha, I asked people to stop sending me harassing messages through my regular email address not through PM here. Why did you say I asked ppl. to not PM me?

I asked you to not respond to me because your attitude from the beginning towards me was uncalled. If you responded differently instead of being snarky, things would've been different. I never said I was good enough that I should have people give me pages for free. Where did you get that from?

As for insulting the artists, if you want a sample of how the art got worse near the end, I'll send you the link. If you want copies of the email from the artist who thought himself better than any regular DC artists, I'll be happy to fwd. them to you. I cannot put up with anyone

I find it immature that someone compares himself to Alex Ross or Gene Ha. I mean, Gene Ha! Come on! The man is a god! Alex Ross! What can one say about his art?

Putting up with constant emails about how "he sucks and his photo-realistic art is uncalled for comics" is quite tiring. I rather be honest about people like that.

I also am honest with art that's really good. Like your art. It's damn good, juggertha. I like it so much I would work for you pro bono and promote the hell out of it to other writers and artists. I would never ask for a penny.

Should one lie about how bad someone had gotten over the months or should they be honest about it? I've seen too many artists and writers deal with people whose smug attitudes have ruined potentially awesome projects.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Oy. You really should have stopped after "I apologize."

Like Jester said to Maverick, "That was some of the best flying I've ever seen. Right up until you got killed."
  12. What freaks me out about that character is that she looks disturbingly like a lesbian friend of mine.
  13. [ QUOTE ]
This is now my favourite thread ever.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'll bet you say that to all the threads.
  14. Can I be your friend? You can sleep on my futon. I'll even get a futon.
  15. [ QUOTE ]
    Oy, that'sa me!

    [/ QUOTE ]

We had a time of it, didn't we? See, I told you there was a whole thread devoted to this stuff. I didn't get a screenshot of his other costume -- it was good, too.
  16. I was going to recommend Comic Book Creator, but it looks like it isn't available at the moment.

You might want to try free Open Source programs like the GIMP. I haven't used it, but I hear it's like Photoshop.

    Aptly put.
  19. Okay, that is the gender-bendiest toon ever. Lemon wins this year's award for "Thinking Outside The Box." (Not like that. Come on.)
  20. Ironik

    I got new art!

I can't be expected to READ on an art site! This is poppycock!

    ----------------------------------------------------------

What I find interesting about this whole thread/issue is...

    this guy is a writer!

We're the ones misunderstanding him... we're the ones not getting it. yet the Op proports himself to be a writer. a writer so good that you'd want to work for him for free.

This writer wrote me a rather long and fairly well worded Pm telling me about his 'situation' (basically an extended version of what was in the OP).. and after all of that, instead of saying something like he hopes we can communicate better... he tells me NOt to reply.

He writes to get something off of his chest... that's HE'S right.. yet I should not reply.

That's kind of how I feel abou this thread.

The Op came here thinking he was right, and when the tide started to turn, he deleted his posts and requested it to be closed.

I guess the Op doesn't like to face a dissenting view.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Which is totally different from his other threads. Almost like two different people. Even the spelling and grammatical mistakes are different. So either his bratty little brother got into his account or he needs to check whether he took his meds today.
  22. Alex clearly has kidlings on the brain. There must be some deep-seated psychological reason for that. If only we could figure it out....
  23. Ironik

    I got new art!

I don't see it. Newest thing on there is from 7-14, none by Battle.
