I'd rather buy Influence from a gold farmer than do 10 to 12 raids in a row. A boring slideshow lagfest with constant disconnects and asking to be reinvited... yeah, not so much high on the "fun quotient" for me. I don't actually have a bad computer, either, so let's not say things like "buy a better PC." Give me 3 grand and I will. Otherwise, no.

Quote:Only because it's gated content and they removed the best solo tactic. I don't understand why you guys CARE if people want to solo it. How does that impact your enjoyment of the game? Seriously, why does that matter to you? I don't care if people farm the AE because it's not like they're "stealing my fun" or anything.ONE teammate should be all you need. One person to stay on trapdoor and another to find and kill his clones if you don't have the outright damage to do it all yourself. I don't see why that is such a big deal for some people. The vast majority of content (even most of what tells you to bring a team) is soloable. Are a few exceptions that unacceptable?
I also don't get why some have called the rest of us liars when we report having significantly different experiences when fighting Trapdoor. I think enough people have reported the variations in experience to convince you that we aren't just making stuff up to vex you. -
The last raid I was on I earned 99 merits. Yes, Vanguard member. The lagfest was completely unenjoyable, so I haven't done one since. Unless they've significantly boosted the merit drop rate, 1,000 merits sounds like fairy dust and snake oil to me.

Quote:I'm not sure that the *Incarnate unlocking* missions should be as difficult as the Incarnate missions are purported to be. Slightly more difficult than regular solo content, maybe, but not vastly more difficult.I have to chuckle at the irony of people complaining about the difficulty of something that was specifically designed for the players looking for more of a challenge.
The problem I have with Trapdoor is that he's a gate to further content, so he shouldn't be so difficult people can't readily solo him. I mean, the mission with the echoes is disappointingly silly, because you get nothing at all from it and they can't even hurt you. You're told because this future you is so Incarnated-up, you're too ubermegapowerful to be dinged by such characters as mad gods and people who are aspects of deities. Essentially that everyone cons gray to you. Well, that's no fun, either, and if the Incarnate system actually goes that way, it'll be a snooze-fest. The reality is that the system *won't* end up like that, so that mission is misleading at the very least.
Three of my four 50s soloed Trapdoor, and I don't have another 50 arriving any time soon, but it is extraordinarily annoying that the Devs removed a perfectly valid tactic that we use in 99.9% of the rest of the game just because they didn't like it. I hate encounters that are scripted and on rails, and for characters who *can't* stand toe-to-toe with a big bag of hitpoints and slug it out, pulling was their only real option. Using Shivans feels like cheating (because, really, it is -- *you* aren't uber, that stupid walking Jell-O mold is) and teaming with just one other person trivializes the encounter so that it's a cakewalk. So either it's too hard or too easy, with zero challenge either way.
Zero challenge = no fun.
As others have said, I don't comprehend how allowing a Defender to pull and defeat Trapdoor in any way lessens the experience you had with your characters. So what? Why do you care? Are you just being the Play Police and demand others do things the way you do? Because that's what a lot of this comes across as, and the reason why I was initially annoyed with TrueMetal and that other dude. -
Quote:Are saying you you get 700 to 1000 merits for the Vanguard arc? or that you get that many from ship raids *after* doing the Vanguard arc?Thereason you are running ship raids and netting 30 merits is because your character has not run the extremely short-n-easy Member of Vanguard arc. Running this arc means the difference between netting 30 merits on a ship raid, and 700-1000 merits.
Those merits are mighty handy, not only for HVAS but for purchasing costume parts, including but not limited to the glowing Talsorian weapons.
Its really easy, that's why I suggested taking the raid route. I will admit grinding solo through RWZ story arcs for merits can be really tedious, especially on anything prone to sleeps or mezzes.
Either way, I've never gotten anywhere near that number of merits for doing anything in the RWZ. I'd probably have to add the V-merits earned across all my characters who've been through the RWZ content to get more than 1,000. I did a lot RWZ grinding with my Brute in order to buy a few costume pieces I wanted, so he's probably responsible for half the V-merits I've earned. I never saw anything in the triple digits except after days and days of missions and arcs. -
My level 33 Grav/Kin COntroller actually had an easier time against Lady Winter than against Snaptooth. I was able to hold her a few times, long enough to run in and get a top-off of Health and Endurance, while I was completely incapable of holding Snaptooth even once. I defeated her fairly readily with no defeats. Snappy sent me to the hospital at least 5 times and I burned through four entire sets of Inspirations, which is, what? 45 Inspirations? I think I only used about 7 or 8 against the big lady.

Quote:Dude, your silly behavior in this thread has opened you up to being a target to any and all derogatory tactics. I have no idea why you're behaving this way, but here's a bit of folk wisdom: "If one person calls you an ***, ignore them. If two people call you an ***, check behind you for hoofprints. If three people call you an ***, get fitted for a saddle."Ossuary, that's quote mining. I didn't say "I am very highly unlikely to change my opinion" about the movie. I said I am unlikely to change my opinion about those things being in that world.
Durakken, you should note that EVERYONE so far has disagreed with you, and we rarely agree on anything. That alone should give you pause to reconsider that maybe you're really far off base. -
Quote:Sorry, man -- I can't turn off the Alt Engine.Damn it, Ironik, couldn't you have at least waited a day or so before making my generic voodoo warrior conecpt seem even more generic and uninspired?
Quote:edit: Actually, I still like the idea of a voodoo warrior spines/dark, it just really needs to be fleshed out a bit.
On our planet, most loa fulfill the usual roles in deities: war, sex, love, healing, communication, death. There are a lot of snake-related and storm-related loa, as well as a number of healers, so those powersets immediately present themselves. There are also analogues to other religions (mostly because enslaved practitioners of Vodoun were forced to follow Catholic or Protestant religious practices, so they melded the two) that compare to figures like Archangel Michael, Mars and Thor. -
Unfortunately all of that Darkseid stuff happens off screen between the penultimate and final episode, leaving us with a lot of talking ("Wow, that was a tough fight," ""Sure was, pal") and the final shot of the series will be Clark putting on the outfit.

Quote:Before seeing the movie, research the following terms: "worm", "intelligent agent", "zen Buddhism", "hippie", "ghost in the machine", "1 Corinthians 13" (no, I'm not kidding) and "go."From what I have read around the net discussions on Tron Legacy either go all one way or all the other.
Like I said, I will watch and decide then, but I am very highly unlikely to change my opinion about how a club or a crowd even remotely makes sense in that world nor how the plot itself even remotely makes sense.
If you think that them needing to get Kevin's (that's his name right?) disc makes sense, PM me the explanation, I'm pretty sure it doesn't, but again that still doesn't make having other things in there make any more sense.
That knowledge will give you a leg up on the tiny minds who are apparently incapable of understanding this movie. -
Quote:I'm interested in hearing them, if they're different from what's already been articulated.I stopped doing AE arcs because of the difficulty of finding arcs that I enjoy, that did not make me feel like I could have done something else. Outside of farms, your generic AE arcs tend to give lesser game rewards so I expect my emotional compensation to be equal to the tangible game rewards I give up to do those arcs. Now you can say, play the ones that certain reviewers rated as good or posted on the forums. But good is subjective and I have philosophical objections to which there's no need to go into here.

Quote:How can you possibly say that when everyone else in this thread has vehemently disagreed with the erroneous conclusions the rabid squirrel jumped to and you are piling on to? The plot is far too basic to have any holes in it, which is a strength. the action sequences that you are complaining about (and haven't even seen, which frankly makes your argument beyond ridiculous), especially the disc scene, are awesome. ESPECIALLY the disc scene.Tron Legacy is a pretty light show that makes no sense from what I've heard and those people make a damn convincing argument with the facts presented.
I'm not even going to use the word "suspect" because simply based on what you're saying, I know for a fact that Spoony did not get what happened during the disc fight. He missed the significance of the ending of that fight entirely, especially regarding how it ultimately plays out in the end of the movie.
The "perfect world" thing makes absolute sense... ONCE YOU SEE THE MOVIE.
Clu's motivations and actions make perfect sense... ONCE YOU SEE THE MOVIE.
The existence of the club... you know the rest. -
Something just sparked... (Hey, SPines + dARK = SPARK... nah. Anyway...) This is basically writing out loud, so bear with me....
How about this: Magic character -- deus ex machina tbd later -- is an adventurer, perhaps a ne'er-do-well who is pilfering something from a Pacific island nation. He gets caught and is thrown into the volcano as punishment. However, he has on his person -- actually, let's say *in* his person, because he swallowed it in desperation -- a magic jewel which preserves his life. However, the jewel causes him to take on aspects of the thing nearest him...
Better yet: the thief/adventurer Jonathon Ashe gets thrown into the volcano and dies. The jewel resurrects him and he takes on aspects of the most powerful thing nearby. In this particular instance, there are two equally powerful things nearby: the volcano itself and the deity who resides within. (Sort of like Pele, but you can make up your own as Pele doesn't quite fit.) The deity is a force for good, which essentially does a partial rehabilitation on him. He's not a hero, exactly, but now instead of a taker he's a giver. He just doesn't get it right all the time because of his basic nature. (Ergo, he's a Vigilante in CoH terms.)
How this manifests itself is that he now has abilities like those of the volcanic deity, namely the ability to control the fine black volcanic ash his body was turned into, forming it into sharp spines and sometimes leaving a dark cloud around him. (Maybe take Blaze Mastery as his Epic.) That can even be his name: Volcanic Ashe. -
What's the current name? Do you want serious or silly? Are you set on tech or just riffing off of Henri's bot?
You can always turn off the dark powers. I find some of them really annoying, like the one that makes you pulse light and dark. I haven't tried coloring them, can we do that? -
Yeah, that's not even a challenge. Choose the Leather option in top and bottom, select a pair of boots and grab the police belt. Bam, done.

Quote:Although the names sounded cool, I always wondered why they switched animals: Streethawk, Airwolf. Of course, it would be redundant to have Airhawk and Streetwolf. That's part of the genre of super vehicle shows. Airwolf, Knight Rider, The Highwayman (think Airwolf meets Knight Rider), Thunder in Paradise. Pretty much ended with Viper until the Knight Rider remake.
I think there was a whole subgenere of Super RVs on Saturday Morning TV back in the '70s, too. -
Quote:Durakken, you need to stop right here. I won't spoil the movie for you or anyone else who hasn't seen it, but this statement is completely wrong. Apparently the "reviewer" you're quoting was either sound asleep or is the dumbest person on the face of the Earth to have said that. When you see the movie, you're going to feel mighty foolish.
The reason why the gate way was not opened was because specifically there is only a certain amount of time that it is open once someone comes through. Apparently this CLU guy isn't smart enough to get his people together either before the guy comes through or while it's open. -
I missed it, too. When is it on again?
-
Yeah, Smallville is indefensible on most levels aside from the acting -- writing, FX, direction, it's all uniformly bad.
-
It's Ramos, who does cartoony art. But he's really toned it down. At some points in the past the characters' feet would be half the size of their torsos, which was really ridiculous-looking.

Some of the lightweight Toshibas and HPs seem pretty decent. Light on specs as well as weight, but for wrod processing and email they're fine. A friend of mine bought a lightweight Toshiba for business last spring and she's taken it all over the world (literally, she just returned from Korea) without any issues, but it suits her just fine.

Quote:This is a spoiler-free thread. Clu has a valid reason for the disc. The people who told you it had holes were retarded.White Hot Flash,
I am speaking of what is said of the movie. All that is required is to say I am wrong about the plot and it is a good plot is to say, and explain why CLU needs the item he is after the entire movie.
Quote:With the story holes, you expect some problems and over sites, but no where near what was described. The fact that there is a "club" in the movie shows that their is somewhat a lack of understanding of why the original movie was the way it was. Even without seeing it I can say that much.
And you really should see it before talking about it, because it makes you sound pretty stupid, frankly.
