Now I believe that was mentioned by Synapse here on the forums (somewhere). The 'plan' (obviously subject to change) is that SP2 *WILL* be purchasable with Reward Tokens, but *NOT* when initially released.

Quote:If by "all who were like me", you mean players who are only marginally happy with the game, then yeah, I guess most of them have left. However, there are plenty of players like me, who think the game is great, is going in a good direction and who are happy enough with it to have more than one VIP account *AND* buy extra points.I am *an* example of a long term player, but perhaps not the ur-example. Maybe I was, once, but all who were like me left the game.
Quote:But that's another issue -- right now let's focus on the original question, about whether VIP status is 'worth it' or not.
Quote:That's a terrible deal. For those who have been loyal to this game for years, it's downright insulting.
If they're trying to entice people to become VIP, they're doing it wrong.
MY OPINION is that VIP is a great deal and I am being well-rewarded for my loyalty. You know, by little things like a bunch of extra character slots for being a long-term subscriber - things I would have had to pay for. -
Quote:Well, that's because most people today have an overdeveloped sense of entitlement. What else could explain a bitter taste from the simple fact that people who pay more get more? The projected message of being a Very Important Player is undercut by the fact that, at the start, their options are still limited. What if they want to create characters with various paid-for powersets? They'll either have to pay extra off the bat, or wait each month enough points to buy them and the prospect of that, if I were just coming to the game, would leave a pretty bitter taste in my mouth.
Quote:All that being said, you have to remember that VIPs are actually the least important players in CoH. The management wants to make money through microtransactions, they want everyone to pay that way, and so they structure their content to entice people to be Premium. They do not want VIPs.
Quote:Right now I'm coasting on a decision I made last year. CoH needs to do something amazing to keep me, given the current state of affairs. I see no indication that they'll do that -- they *like* the way things are, even if it means losing players that have been here since launch, even if it means bleeding people away.
As for "bleeding people", that's a given. That will always be happening, in every game, business, whatever. So the fact that some long-term subscribers will leave is assumed. -

Quote:Gladly. If you wanted to use Dual Pistols, Electric Control, Kinetic Melee or Demon Summoning, you had to *BUY* the Going Rogue expansion. So, even then, some sets were free and some had to be bought.Something that really bothers me as that I have to pay for new powersets. Before the launch of Freedom powersets were included in the sub ( correct me please if I am wrong)
But now, those four sets I listed are FREE TO VIP's! So you're getting some free that you used to have to pay for on top of your subscription. And you don't feel VIP?
Quote:Now as VIP we don't even get a discount.
So, since that statement was pure BS, not gonna bother with the rest of the post. This is a classic 'entitlement' thread. -

Quote:Yes and yes. It's a text file, right? I should be able to just copy it from computer to computer, theoretically.
BUT.... if you have made changes to both copies and then overwrite one copy with the other, you will lose the changes you made in the copy being overwritten. -
Let me explain. We understand it just fine. But we DISAGREE with you. We understand your point, we read your reasons and we STILL think it's a bad idea. It's that simple. Intelligent people with similar experiences (i.e. years of playing this game) can have different opinions on how things should be done.
-
umm......
No, it does NOT say that. You're still getting it wrong. The conversion rate is 500 to 1. 200 million inf would give you 400,000 prestige. -
Don't feel bad. I haven't been able to attend any... no, wait.... I was there for the one on July 3rd because I had the next day off.

Well, technically it's Random Number GENERATOR.

Is it possible that you are in supergroup mode and those are the SG colors?
You should always be out of SG mode when you visit the tailor. -
Quote:Actually, I think I 'got' the same thing as Forbin did......LOL. I was obviously referring to things that are locked, I'm pretty sure that most of the people got that!
'Back in the day', if you weren't subscribed, you got NOTHING. *THAT* is the starting point for comparison. -
And now we hop out to the Shadow Shards for a week. We'll be back in Paragon City next week to hit the Weekly Strike Target.

I think that phrase was intended to refer to loss of life on such a scale that it affected civilization, ya know, like the Black Death that killed about half of all the people in Europe.

Quote:They had a one-time bonus grant of prestige - 20,000 prestige for every character in the SG. So..... fill the SG with throw-away characters to get 150 members and BAM! 3 million prestige overnight.I remember they had some thing once where we got double prestige for every new member? Some bonus, anyway- I filled up a bunch of slots with quickie alts and had a pal invite them for me.
They then had some type of glitch, and the prestige awarding script was run again like 2 days later. DOUBLE BAM!
Yep. Additionally, since Praetorians can not have supergroups, once they leave Praetoria the first group they join gets a 100K bonus. This is a one-time thing and that prestige does NOT leave the group if the character leaves or is deleted. -
Quote:To be fair, many powersets have shortcomings intentionally built in.I have no problems buffing mates, but the expectation that their survival and success relies on certain buffs indicates a very rigid playstyle and not adaptive to the situation. It is as if this player expects someone else to take care of their shortcomings.
Also, there are a number of enemies that can devastate a number of builds (dark ring mistresses, sappers, etc). -
Quote:Yes..... I seem to recall one of the columnists in the NY Times Sunday paper had a column where he talked about language. He envisioned an enforcement agency to deal with redundancy in speech. He called it the Squad Squad. It might have been William Safire.True, but I should clarify; I referred to "one piece onesie" in relation to a cape effect. The ones that had a separate velcro'd cape were very limited; this onesie had the cape on the back as a graphic (same as the Batman one that will be modeled soon
).
But yeah, it's definitely repetitive to say that, huh? -
I do not think that word means what you think it means.
I started running task forces around lunchtime on Friday and managed 12 of them before 2XP was over. This isn't counting the DFB's to get into Posi range. -
Quote:And that's the point where the post ventures into TMI territory.Hi, everyone.
The surgery went just fine. I was in and out of the hospital after about 4 hours. However, the recovery has been extremely painful. I have been on 3 different drugs for the pain ( one of which is a narcotic). It wasn't life threatening, but it was needed. (hemorrhoids)
I am reminded of the Mary Tyler Moore show where Lou Grant has to have surgery to remove a piece of shrapnel lodged in his butt since WW2. When Ted Baxter says he heard Lou was injured in France and asks where he was hit, Lou replies, "The south." -
It was horrible. We failed to get Master of Apex in a single run.
