Quote:Okay, right off, did you by any chance do the Stalker runs before the Dominator ones? Because the drop rate WAS bugged and dropping Uncommons like nobody's business.Okay so everyone says that there is merely a threshold to reach in order to get a reward but I have issue with this because...
Dominator: 47 Runs, 20 V. Rare, 23 Rare, 4 Common
Stalker: 58 Runs, 2 V. Rare, 5 Rare, 51 Uncommon
Second: That's nowhere near enough runs to judge randomness. -
Quote:At one point, the drop table was bugged and dropping Uncommons far too often. That was fixed. Performance is not a factor in which type of salvage you get.The drop table seems to be either weighted most heavily to drop uncommons, or to include performance in the calculation for the drop if commons are the most likely. That's from my anecdotal observation that I've got far more uncommons than anything else.
I agree. It is certainly a reasonable assumption. However, it happens to be a false one.Quote:I think this gets the heart of at least one problem with the rewards: because participation is required to get a non-thread reward, it is, IME, pretty logical for players to assume that, to get better rewards, you have to participate more.
(Not trying to correct you or anything like that, just making this very clear for any newbs who come along.) -

Also, because it hasn't been mentioned and I don't want to miss anything, you do know that there is a channel that announces when most of the monsters spawn, right? I say "most" because I think one or two are broken and don't show up on the channel. Also, I should be saying "channels" because there is one for redside and one for blueside.

Quote:um.... what you just described is how it's working right now and 'working as intended'. It's SUPPOSED to take 3 runs to get it.Only, in order for me to get it, my team had to do it three times, as the badge wasn't awarding properly (LIKE IT IS NOW)
1. PURPOSELY fail the Molecular Acid part for Well Stocked badge, using neither the Acids or Grenades.
2. PURPOSELY fail the Grenades part for the Antacid badge, using neither Grenades nor Acid.
3. COLLECT 10 of each, USE NONE for the other lame badge..
So, if you think you did anything special or particularly hard there, trying doing it three times over.
When it WAS bugged, you could get all 3 badges in a single run. -
The +HP would be far better, since giving someone regeneration gives no healing credit at all. When you give someone regen, they're healing on their own.
-
Yep, that's annoying. Had a failed run where the team leader was watching his hit points and he was below 100 when the timer ran out.
-
It doesn't sound like it works that way.
Quote:I suppose that line is not completely definitive, but it sounds like that once your participation gets you off the 'consolation' reward, your participation has no effect on what kind of salvage you get. The quote is from Baryonyx's post here.It has never been possible to guarantee that you will receive a Very Rare. Once the participation system has done a handoff to the random table, it no longer has any effect on your reward. -
Quote:I think you mean the military epaulets. These are worn on the shoulders (only with certain tops) and not on the chest. The others I know of off the top of my head are the chest medals for Task Force Commander

Read the post above yours (and multiple threads) where it says that Posi part 2 is not giving the rewards.

Quote:Your impression is mistaken. 22 runs is not a statistically valid sample. Come back after 22 HUNDRED runs and tell us your conclusions.Only problem is it keeps picking commons for me, I have only got 2 uncommons and I dcd those runs. I could see if only once in a while people get a rare or very rare (why it is called rare or very rare) However, 20 commons out of 22 runs, even a RNG will give better odss then that seems to me like it is broken and needs a fix soon.

Absolutely. Have the base smaller and containing less objects. My main SG has their base on the 24x24 plot with a ton of highly decorated rooms. Our alt SG has a 9x12 base with less than 100 items in it (counting the teleporters and beacons). The smaller base loads noticeably faster. The downside is that it doesn't have all the amenities - it's a transit hub.

There are five reward tables: 'consolation', Common, Uncommon, Rare, Very Rare. We were told flat-out that, once you get off the 'consolation table', it is RANDOM which salvage you get. And, unlike the Taunt system where the person who wrote it was no longer with the company, this is a recent addition and is presumably thoroughly understood. If you think we're being deliberately lied to, okay, but I don't believe that to be the case.

Tell me how many debuffers you get, and how many people throwing psi damage, and I'll try to calculate some odds.
-
BTW, they posted that, due to the mix-up between part 1 and 2 (their error), you can now earn the reward from either task force.

Quote:Yes, random is random... *BUT* that does not mean they all spawn at the same odds. Some are set with a greater chance of spawning so they are more likely to show up quickly. The most extreme example of this is Sally, who will respawn within MINUTES of being defeated.Random spawns are random. It could be 5 minutes in between, it could be an hour, or it could be an entire day. (I'm pretty sure I recall reading something early on in the life of CoH that made it so GMs had to spawn at least once per 24 hours.)
On a related note, it seems that all the spawn timers are reset by server maintenance. If you patrol the various spawn points an hour or so after the servers come back up, you're very likely to find some GM's. -
Actually, someone already mentioned in this very thread....
I would add to this the fact that Babbage is *BOTH* a random spawn (occurring in Boomtown) *AND* a player-generated spawn (by running the Synapse TF). -
Quote:Related to this, the reason they can't unlock themselves the normal way is that they are not team leader, despite being the only person on the team. You can note this from the interface where the solo person does not have a star next to their name, even though they should. One bug I have noticed is that occasionally when someone DC's and is added to a new team when they return the team they are on will be locked and they have to unlock it before you can reassign them. However since they are on a solo the only way for them to unlock it is to use the slash command which I can't remember.

I think it's an issue with alt-tabbing and keyboard input in Windows. I see this every so often when I alt-tab. I'll also sometimes switch back and find my character is auto-running or standing in one spot and rotating as if I were holding down one of the movement keys.
-
Right. Specifically, in the dialog box you will see:Quote:When the team leader talks to Positron, you get to chose either TF. You can do either one as often as you like.
- Discuss events in Steel Canyon (This is part 1 of the Positron TF.)
- Discuss events in other parts of the city (or words to that effect - this is part 2) -
Oh, just a wild guess, but I think that figuring out the cause would get things moving. Any bug that only occurs intermittently is extremely hard to fix.

Ignore all the opinions. A redname TOLD US that, once your participation passes a certain point and lets you avoid the '10 thread consolation table', the determination of which salvage table you get is RANDOM.
I honestly don't think that Paragon staff would lie about something so simple and harmless.
