Also it seems I have 4 free respecs and 61 free tailor sessions lol.
-
Yah I reupped yesterday after being away from the game for 2 years (maybe 3), and made my stalker level 50. Also rolled a Widow.
-
Lol at least someone gets it.
Anyway...I'm going to check out a so called PVP server and see what its like, it may be fun to play in a full pvp zone but from what I hear it may not be any better on Freedom. -
Seriously though, I think its because I'm mostly a daytime player (and mostly people on Vic seem to play at night) but on the PVP forums theres a general complaint about the 'new' pvp- apparently there were some rather unpopular changes made a patch or two ago. Add to that a low pop on Vic compared to a place like Freedom and that might be the problem.

if ya want pvp, you might want to go to freedom. I believe the only real active night for pvp is fight night at the arena.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yah I'm thinking of moving there. This place is full of people that can't let go of the past, and as a result, seems a bit desolate.Ahem. -
..all people want to do is farm the AE. It's silly. Nobody is in pvp zones, nobody feels the need to join a VG...its kind of disappointing. All day long people are in the AE over and over.
I don't get it. -

pvp can be hella fun

I'm glad you've been havin' fun in the zones.

-The regular pvpers seem to be having problems with the way pvp works, but why should it matter to you if you are regulars and have in a sense "mastered" what it means to pvp?
[/ QUOTE ]
It's not that they can't adapt to the new pvp, but rather that they think pvp took a turn in the wrong direction (i.e., pvp is worse now and less fun than it was before the sweeping changes).
[ QUOTE ]
I keep seein these "Learn 2 pvp" comments and stuff
[/ QUOTE ]
Basically just ignore those fools. Some folks will say "Learn 2 pvp" if you pop an inspiration while others will tell that person to "Learn 2 pvp" because inspirations are part of pvp. People are idiots, and they will call you an idiot regardless of what you do. Maybe you had the nerve to create a toon with a sub-optimal powerset, or maybe you took the wrong power, or maybe they don't like your costume. Now, if you start crying in broadcast because someone used a particular power or inspiration, you really do need to "learn 2 pvp!" Take that for what it's worth.
[ QUOTE ]
Don't you guys want the "casual" or "non-regular" pvpers to get in on the fun.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes, but those folks won't be the best the second they enter the zone, and should understand that they are going to take their lumps. Granted, some of the afformentioned idiots could help things by not insulting your mother after they kill you, but you should really just ignore them and report them rather than taking the bait. Some players derive their enjoyment by ruining yours, and they would rather engage in broadcast pvp than fight you on the battlefield. The more you return verbal fire, the more you open yourself up for continued abuse. They win if they make you so mad that you leave the zone and never come back. PvP loses.
[ QUOTE ]
those heroes who were on MY side that just sat there and dam near ignored me and let their homeboy wail on me with his super purple IOed out guy
[/ QUOTE ]
Tough to know without being there, but some folks do have a sense of fairness. Maybe you went to their fightclub spot where they typically fight 1 v 1, and the other heroes wanted to see how you faired against the villain. If they joined you and ganged up on him, he may have left instead of hangin' around to fight them each 1 v 1 after he was done with you. Who knows?
[ QUOTE ]
I'm not a guy who builds his hero around pvp
[/ QUOTE ]
Step #1 for you should be using your second build to make a pvp build. It can help quite a bit.
Again, glad you're havin' fun and just wanted to provide two cents worth of responses to your question. Keep on fightin'!

You know that's an interesting observation. Having come back to the game after 4 years of playing other more PVP focused games, the 'new' PVP is a lot like the PVP in other games- namely states aren't as important as health and damage stacking.
That being said, at level 47 I hung out in RV yesterday for awhile to see what the level 50s' could do to a level 47 with standard enhancements- namely no IO's or sets, and some red ones that I outlevelled. Frankly, many of the heroes put a lot of states on me, and did little damage relative to the equiptment and level difference. They had a hard time killing me (although it DID happen once) and I was able to do surprising amounts of damage to them. I also noticed they had NO problem handling the NPC's and heavies in the zone.
I found that interesting and enlightening.
I did a lot of powers testing, letting heroes hit me etc to see what would happened.
Frankly, I think the new PVP is lot more interesting than what it was 4 years ago. It's certainly more competitive and less reliant on builds than it is on strategy and skill. I hope I have that same opinion of it after making 50 and spending more time in it. -
Well if we can rebuild, its an almost surety the PVP zones will come alive again, if only to kill my people. It's going to be an almost impossible task however, since Victory is an old population and well entrenched in their groups with little new blood.
-
Well I see the one star bandit still has a 4 year grudge. Gee whiz I wonder who it is....
-
is reforming a mostly PVP oriented Villain group on Victory. As of this morning I have added City of Villains to the Clan website and am officially rebuilding a warmer, more PVE friendlier group here on Victory. A lot of our old rules have eased to fit this type of game.
If you would like to learn more about us, and our guild, or join us here on Victory look us up at:
www.blacklotusclan.com
Keep in mind, most of our guild is still on other games, I'll be building here from scratch. This will be a great opportunity to get in on the ground floor with an essentially new group here on Victroy. Since we are a multi game guild, you'll be free to join us in other games as well.

I can make pvp interesting right away.
1. Allow respecs to not only respec your power but your power set, so that you dont have to completely reroll to go from Dark/Dark to EM/regen for instance.
2. Allow villains to go into hero zones and heroes to go into villain zones, make everything (almost) destroyable. Going into an enemy zone (like lets say Atlas City) flags you to all the heroes playing there. Thus players can grind unmolested, but if they want to stop nefarious villains from blowing up cars and objects , they have to stop them.
3. Allow purchaseable respecs so its easier to do- either through merits or soloable quests.
4. Normalize power sets by allowing full access to both by both factions- this may be happening in City of Rogues
5. Put in a pvp ranking system and gear sets that help you uniquely in PVP, such as a reduction in travel suppression. etc
Just my two cents. -
Having been here when Villains were first put in the game, the problem wasn't so much as base camping as it was someone getting in behind the drones and PVP'ing in the enemy base. Used t obe there were drones on the walls and thats about it. If you take a look now, there's drones stuck all over inside bases in all sorts of odd places, that was becuase those places were all previous 'dead spots' where you could hide from the drones. In the early days, my Clan figured out how to get into the hero hospital to kill heroes cloning. Thats why theres drones INSIDE the hospital now.
TP foe used to be a highly aggressive weapon. -
PVP has gotten like that in a lot of other games too- just glorified dueling. Some games even cater to these types of players.
-
I would put always put money on the player rather than the build in PVP. A guy who knows his class inside and out is a far more dangerous oppoenent than the build of the week. Pick a class, learn it and play it every day. That's the only way to get better at PVP.
-
Can you run a crab or a widow like a stalker? Do they have stealthing ability like them?
-
Well, if it wasn't for server down time, I don't think my old lady would ever get poked.
-
Why couldn't they just lower the counts substantially???
-
TY Minotaur for helping me move toward restoring my old base.

Actually I might file a ticket on this . All my toons got booted from the old SG and now I can't access the base. The registrar says the SG DOES still exist, so the base must too. I'd really like to have it back.
[/ QUOTE ]
If that doesn't work, keep in mind they completely changed how bases are decorated and paid for. Larger plots are cheaper and storage is a little different, stacking/floating is WAY easy now. You might want to completely overhaul the base anyway so why not start from scratch?
[/ QUOTE ]
Well the problem is that none of my toons are in the SG anymore, and anyone that IS in it , is long gone. I have already begun to rebuild from scratch as it were.
BTW, I'd like to get my other toons into the SG, if anyone would like to join me and invite my toons in, and then jump out I would be greatly appreciate it.

Ah, this makes sense, then. I can see how acting like a villain on the forums would not be well received. I think people take on personas of a sort as the write and post, but completely roleplaying a villain here would be... ouch. Though I think the Victory forum used to be a bit more touchy/difficult than it is nowadays.
[/ QUOTE ]
Well, in some ways its still the same. Satanic Hamster kicked me from the Victory Forums the other day for no other reason than a 4 year old grudge. -

TY, I generated a LOT of hate and controversy the last time I played, trying to RP a villain. I hope to avoid that this time.

I thought your villain raid RP for the PVP zone was kinda cool but IIRC it was announced on short notice.
