  1. I know, I was just commenting that it was also an NCSoft game and i found it ironic you mentioned it.
  2. Inokis

    XP bar etc

The only way I've ever gotten that back is /wdw_load

if that doesn't work, you can try:
    /window_show status
  3. Whos that cookie eating bloke that is always around anytime someone mentions cookies... You should pm that to him.
  4. You guys just enjoy being silly. Its obviously a bug. It did this during updating, then reverted back to its normal format and now its back to the full page again.
  5. Ironic you used Tabula Rasa as a name possibility in a NCSoft game.

Possibly move the whole game off of opengl and on to direct x so we dont have as many compatibility issues.

[/ QUOTE ]And a million (okay, 25) Mac users cried out in pain.

How does blizzard do it? They obviously don't code their modern games with an OpenGL graphics model yet have Mac Compatability.
  7. I don't have the badge yet on my MM and I acquire them. As stated I think they just accumulate faster with the badge.
  8. I get maybe a lvl a day at 46. Maybe a level every couple hours on lowbies. 9 in a day seems excessive to me by any standards.
  9. Hey now I wasn't attacking you or intending to be mean I was just stating I didn't see the distinction. Thank you for elaborating why you see it the way you do.
  10. Whenever I want more challenge I just up my Challenge Level. Its challenging enough for my threshold on challenge 3.

I don't have any AE experience to know how challenging or easy it can be. I do know it could vary greatly depending on how the mobs are layed out, and what skills the custom critters are given.

I think the AE content was intended as filler for more difficult challenges. They also just implemented the new TF, that is sure to bring new challenges to the game.

The real challenge in the game I think still lies in the higher TFs. I'm sure there are lots of groups that have a hard time still completing them.

We don't know yet what kind of content diversification the expansion is going to have but I'm pretty sure there will be new challenges especially since they will be adding the new enhancement system.

So I just got a message on my Twitter account, saying they were testing 'a new client'. My Twitter client shows the source of incoming tweets, and the source of the above tweet was 'Champions Online'.

Which lead me to start thinking. Twitter uses @{AccountName} to message someone. CoX uses @{GlobalName} to globally contact someone in game. Assuming it were possible to interface with the chat servers from an external client (Lets call it Twitter, could be AIM, or what ever new pops up) would you want such access to the chat commands of this game?

It'd be nice to follow some of the discussion in my various sg channels while off line. It would also be nice to have a way to talk without having to log in, but that's just me. Curious if there's others who'd be interested in this for CoX.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Everquest has a nifty tool. You can use the sony Launchpad to chat with anyone in game across any server as long as your account is active. You don't need to be in any particular game just logged into the launchpad. If they did this with a sep utility for ncsoft games or even built into the existing launcher i'd be happy.

It's odd, though, at least from my perspective. I expect a veteran to want to level fast. After all, I'm traditional slow levelling's biggest proponent and even I can appreciate levelling fast now that I've done it all.

But what would possess a new player, one who hasn't seen anything from the the game, to want to level faster and faster? Doesn't it make sense to see the game and get a feel for it before you shoot for the end? I can only speak for myself, but I only look to level faster when I run out of interesting things to do and need that next level to get more. This shouldn't be a factor for a new player until at LEAST level 10, possibly until level 20. I remember back in the old days when I first got to level 20 and realised that ZOMG! It will take me all day to get a single level! This is horrible! THEN I might see someone look to level faster. But before that?

    [/ QUOTE ]
My sentiments EXACTLY. I think the ability to use AE should be a 2 or 3 month veteran reward.

But then what would we have to laugh about in the forum here. Bad's story was priceless! I may roll a new toon tonight just to get on one of these teams and get a good laugh.

    [/ QUOTE ]

This is actually a great idea, but they didn't want to isolate the content to a given population from what I gather. Instead of newbies running MA you'd just have overzealous Powerlevellers trying to get as many 50s as possible. It wouldn't really solve the problem the devs are trying to thwart.
  13. [ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]

I am hoping that these newbies will learn soon that it doens't matter if the team IS exemped up to level 50 or whatever, if you have two attacks you are not all that much good, and you are no match for a level 50+ NPC. The only person to blame for that is the greedy one looking [general] you in the mirror. And these kids are greedy like nobody's business.

    [/ QUOTE ]
The whole story made me LOL, especially your description at the end. hahahahahaha

My new belief: AE doesn't make sucky players, it just lets them refine their suckiness.

    [/ QUOTE ]

i wouldn't say refine but definitely exemplifies it. Refining implies some sort of skill set through practice or experience. I wouldn't give them that much credit.

The problem with that Daemodand is that not everyone wants the whole world to know their global.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    This.

If I'm in a global channel with someone, they can know me there. But there's a distinction between character and person, and I'd like to keep it that way.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Anyone who knows your toon name has access to your global name. /get_global_name is available by just knowing someones toon name. I guess I'm not seeing how there's a distinction.

I'm going to guess that this particular name was blocked, not taken.

I know I would have petitioned it if i had seen it in-game. Pretty juvenile, IMHO.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Apparently sarcasm is not your forte. The punchline of the story is how *short* my latest attempt to play blue side was. Of course I knew the name was not available but it was just an afterthought considering I wasn't serious about playing heroes in the first place. *rolls eyes*

Banned accounts SHOULD get wiped because no-one has any access to them any more.

As far as the RMTers... whether it's them or the mods, all the "empties" = deleted names. Admittedly, it probably doesn't help much, since the spam tends to come from lkasdjrfoiweur and friends...

    [/ QUOTE ]

I've actually been seeing an influx of spam using formatted names. I can't think of any specific examples but something similar to Fiyah Dominatah and such.

Well clearly the "need to be taken seriously" is a relatively different matter from whether or not superheroine X needs to wear "sensible" clothing or not to survive fighting crime.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Look, if you're facin' down thugs with guns, you want to be taken seriously. If you gotta run around, high heels ain't gonna cut it. And yes, Superman and other dudes of the spandex set fail on this score just as badly as the bikini girls with machine guns set. If some ancient god, built like an olympic swimmer and barely wearing more than a laurel wreath, shows up in middle of my meth factory, my first reaction as a hardened criminal is to laugh and say, "Kill this nancy boy."

Of course, said "nancy boy" might drop 30 petatons of holy wrath on me but that still doesn't erase that first embarrassing reaction. At least Thor wears armor. As such he's taken seriously--well sort of. He probably gets a lot of "blonde surfer boy" comments.

You want the bad guys to fear you rather then stare at your "equipment" and make ribald comments.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well, one of my concept toons is a negative image of the other. I'm not sure this would pass much for 'intimidation':

I'm a DIRL and all the female characters I've built in this game so far have all been very firmly of the armor and cleats school. Why? Because they're "Bob" darned superheros! They get shot at with guns, flamethrowers, nuclear weapons and worse! It's just pragmatic. "Bikini girls with machine guns" might be a fun song but is definitely not something to guide the sartorial decisions of gals who want to be in the super business!

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Same.

I think the only scantily clad chick I have is one where I used the witch costume choices that came with the magic pack.

    [/ QUOTE ]

It depends. If they can slow incoming projectiles to a halt without blkinking, and throw up a repulsion field at the same time to send them back from the direction they came, they don't need much more than a bikini.

    [/ QUOTE ]

This is true, however, some of the skin choices are so revealing that I can't see how anyone could realisticaly (and yes I know it's ridiculous to use that word in a game like this) move around in them much without, you know, having a Janet-Jackson-at-the-Superbowl kinda thing.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Kind of like being at a strip club and having the dancer say, 'tell me if I'm showing too much, this bikini is a bit too loose'.

I forgot who told me this, but it's one of those Interenet laws: On the internet, the amount of clothes you're wearing is inversely proportional to the frequency with which you'll be hit on.

This thread was brought on by a desire for fun. It was my only motivation. I think it will be a fun thread, and it has been already. Besides, after hearing for ten thousand times in the forums that most of the girls are really guys, I wanted to disagree. Most don't seem to be to me, or at least a big percentage don't seem to be.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well experience is all that counts. In my experience its mostly guys trying to rip people off. The ones I have found out to be real women/girls tend to have issues and bring them into the game.

    [/ QUOTE ]

A lot of girls won't let on that they're girls in-games due to the treatment they'll receive (or at least the fear of it). Just before I took my last hiatus from the game I had a guy hit on me in-game, which was a seriously creepy experience (far more so than I would have expected).

From my experience on Freedom, most people really don't care in the slightest what gender you are- unfortunately just a few people can greatly over shadow the masses.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I've only had one bad experience in COH so far involving what may or may not have been a girl. I've played a lot of MMOs and have had plenty of 'tee hee i'm such a cutie and i'm new pls donate some money' type of crap. In other MMOs this type of behavior gets old fast. I typically just shy away from MMO populations in general. I solo and keep to myself mostly.
