    Fix my Ice/KIN

Try this one I just put together for ya. Softcapped s/l/e and a decent chunk of +rech. With T4 Spiritual Radial and 1 Siphon Speed you're pretty much at perma hasten, too. Plus the radial side will buff Tactics and your slows.

    Power Pools

Are there some stock pools or type of sets your looking from them when you making the choices in the builds?

What pools tend to be dump power for IO slotting?

I haven't made a lot of posts but any advise on picking the pools or what you should look for in them e.g reduce recharge or an IO slot pick would be great. I have read guides about them but I'm more interested on the mechanic side to reach performance benchmarks, for example, Perm-Dom or soft capping def.
Hasten is a must while leveling. When you get to the endgame you 'can' make a hastenless build and still maintain permadom, but you might not be able to do much else.

Leadership and the fighting pool are good for defense and/or IO muling. Easiest defense to get will be s/l so you'll also want to take the shield from Mace or Ice epics. Mace will help you get a good amount of energy defense, too.

Concealment is basically IO muling LotGs.

CJ and Hover are great for combat mobility and can hold a LotG.

Medicine would be ok for Aid Self since you have no other means to heal yourself.

Presence will be useless for you.

Whatever pools I left out, they're probably not as useful or just to taste.

I guess this is what happens when you look at too many numbers from different things while your having breakfast because you just woke up.

I was looking at the pvp numbers from tanks
and then looked at the pve numbers from scrappers.

    big duh moment.

I dont have much experience at all with scrappers or high level scrappers.
    I usually do support toons.
Is it worth IOing with psi resist at all and sacrficing other things.
Or should I just not worry at all about it?
I like to be prepared for whatever I may encounter.
if you know you're going after psi users, just pack inspirations for it.

i'd say just focus on softcapping at least s/l/e/n and then stacking on the hp/regen/recharge. getting Energize perma or close to it will help wonders with psi and new /ea will have an easy time making it perma, i think.
  4. another thing to consider is how these three powers are being slotted outside of the proc. how many slots are you able to devote to them?

If you're going with that, swap out the efficacy adapters in Drain Psyche for 5 Doctored Wounds and 1 common ACC IO.

DP doesn't need endmod enhancement. More regen will serve you better.

And you get to keep the 5% recharge bonus...
  6. It also just made me realize that ED's animation is a whole second longer than EA's. This makes me sad lol

Energy Drain was originally autohit, just like powersink. When they added in the heal component, it came with a to hit check. Now that ED is changing into a clone of EA from Ice/ it won't have a tohit check, again.

    Energy Absorption is autohit, too.

Icicles should be cold or cold/lethal, I agree. Cold Dom on MMs would be ridiculous. High defense and your pets would all have stupid high HP from Frostwork.

So tell me, when we finally get Ice Armor - what Power Sets will you pair with it?

Right now I've only got an idea for a Spines/Ice Armor, but in the future when they Proliferate over Ice Melee I might do an Ice Melee/Ice Armor character.
Ice Armor works well with anything, really. But if you want to capitalize on the set's strengths (at least from a mitigation standpoint) you'd want to go with DM, KM, IM, or Spines.

DM for the heal and -tohit.

    KM for the -dmg.

    IM/Spines for the -rech.

It's been a while since I've played him, but typically I'll have Domination up.

Open with MH. Confuse any problem mobs - usually bosses and pesky things like Sappers.
Jump in middle of spawn and use DP.
Jump back and use Terrify/Psi Scream
Jump back in spawn for PSW.
Jump out again for another Psi Scream.
    Clean up with ST attacks.

This works on teams, too. You just have to stay ahead of your team.

If it's a particularly hard mob you can use TD or MC before your first Terrify.

Also, you can get away with slotting Terrify for damage. I still need to do this, myself.

I originally built this Dom to sleep the FP on the LRSF and it does this very well. Sleep the group and then go debuff whichever the team's fighting with DP and Sleet in between sleeps.

I haven't done it extensively, but it can solo AVs pretty well. They never have any regen (unless DP misses) and then you add -res on top of that. However, it takes some time to set up with Confuse. Once they're confused you just Confuse>MP>Subdue and when you debuff you Confuse>DP>Confuse>Sleet and resume the attack chain.
  10. Here's my current Mind/Psi. He's build for lots of recharge to get Drain Psyche perma.

    Feel free to ask questions

  12. Managed to get on the beta server. Base defense for FA/GA is 12.75% and Wet Ice gives 0.75%.

    FA/GA slotted with 4 pieces of LotG (+rech, Def, Def/End, Def/End/Rech) gives 20.1%

Weave slotted the same way gives 5.91%

Hide and CJ with just a LotG: Rech gives 2.17% each.

That's 30.35%. Toss in a steadfast for 3% and 4 pieces of Reactive in Tough for 1.25.

34.6%. 4 more pieces of Reactive in IB for another 1.25% = 35.85%

36.6% total with Wet Ice added in.

So you need another 9% from attack sets in order to softcap. These numbers are below what I was expecting.

What are the base defense numbers on your stalker? I'm curious to figure out what's needed to softcap Ice on a non tanker.

For a tank you just need well slotted FA, GA, and Weave, Tough 4 slotted with Reactive Armors, CJ or Hover, and a steadfast IO. This gets you 42.5% and you just need a couple attack sets to finish the road to 45%.

The Endurance Recovery is nice but I'd be going for Recharge, Resist, and Heal Enhancement for this ability.

So I'm wondering if you have a high Recharge build, how often would we be able to use this ability? When I do get my Spines/Ice Scrapper up to 50 I plan on taking Spiritual Alpha.
I had an emp/arch build I looked at for the numbers. AB's base recharge is the same as IB's (300s). This particular build has 197.5% global recharge and AB has 91.78% recharge enhancement (5 doctored wounds). This brings the recharge down to 77s. With Spiritual Core T4 it's down to 70s. That's pretty significant but I doubt you'd be able to get that much recharge into the build.

For a more realistic perspective I altered this same build to have the same recharge my Ice/Ice/Soul tank has - 82.5% global - 152.5% with Hasten.

The result? 87s. 79s with T4 Spiritual Core. That's pretty badass and it would certainly get way more use than Hibernate would on a Tank. I don't think stalkers/scrappers would be able to get that without purples because they would have to use a couple extra sets to softcap compared to what tanker Ice has to use.

I could also go on about /fire vs /mu, if going for AoE, or /soul, if going for ST + almost as good AoE + survivability, but it's late and I want to wrap up this run on rant by deploring once again the annoying trend for people to see everything in black and white and confuse relative statements with absolutes. There is a best and there is a worst, that doesn't mean the worst is unplayable ; the worst active NBA player could probably make a fool out of anyone who's reading these forums at basketball. Sure, you can dress it up by claiming everyone is a winner and is awesome, but who does that help? Maybe the feelings of people who care about the performance of their characters, but then wouldn't we be more helpful to these players by giving them the correct information rather than sugarcoated affirments, assertions that are if you ask me quite condescending as really that's the kind of stuff you feed children, and I feel it's safe to assume the vast majority of people on the boards, especially those who are likely to visit the archetype forums, are at least teens and most likely grown men or women... Then comes the second annoying trend, player compares himself with random people on PUGs, sees himself perform better, concludes powerset combo is better. Holy logical leap Batman, have you stopped and considered that this game takes a bit of skill to play? As little as it might be to some people - again, people who treat everything as an absolute, which is especially silly when discussing skill in a MMO as there are, always, a significant amount of the playerbase who plays at a level that is, let's just say, far below what would be required to have any kind of enjoyable experience in most other video games ; as little as it might seem, the point is there is still much room in this game for personal skill to supplement build differences to a point, and comparing oneself to random players just doesn't make sense. Just yesterday I've seen a blaster taking the alpha against Marauder and his cronies in a Lambda while all the brutes and tankers were sitting on their pancakes, twiddling their thumbs. All melee powersets suck! Let's all reroll blasters! Thankfully it doesn't work this way, and thankfully there is room for something beyond just picking up the power build and closing your eyes, although it can feel that way at times after hours, dozens of hours, hundreds of hours playing the game, which is the kind of time during which you could learn a whole new language or professional activity really, so it should come at no surprise that certain things that are not as obvious to more casual players become child's play for some. Bottomline, you can push absolutely every combo in this game to do pretty cool stuff, far above what is actually required for regular play, but some will have an easier time at it, some will be faster, some will be able to push it even further. Hiding that fact behind happy-go-lucky rhetoric doesn't seem to serve much purpose to me, sure there are people who consider anything but the absolute best to be broken and useless and might then try it, but most likely they'll find out at some point that particular combo isn't the thing it was hyped up to be and will end up feeling disappointed. So the lesson here is you can't change people, but you can rant at them and that makes you feel better for a little while, up until facebook and google finally manage to push for our real identity to be tied to our online personas all the time, and the angry masses come to your home and burn your house for daring to say that guys, it could be that, open parenthesis, two plus one point fifty, close parenthesis, times one point fifteen might just be bigger than, open parenthesis, two plus one point sixty plus one point twenty-five, close parenthesis, times zero point seventy-five, and no home means limited internet access, means the end of the world as we know it.
I'm staring at this, wondering if there's a 3D image hidden within the text. Just waiting for it to pop out at me.

    Elec/Mind

There are a few threads about elec/psi doms. Should be within the first 5 pages of the forum i think.

While I've helped other build their elec/psi doms, I don't really have actual experience with elec/. I do have a mind/psi dom so I'll focus on the /psi part.

Psi Dart - Early on you'll probably want to slot this and use it as it is somewhat decent while leveling. After you've leveled up a bit you'll want to respec and strip it of its slots as it will become useless for the most part. Slotting an Acc or Rng enhancement into it would be best and you can use this power for pulling.

Mind Probe and TK Thrust - Both are good attacks. If you primarily PvE go with Mind Probe. TK Thrust does better damage in PvP if you're interested in that. It still does good in PvE and gives you some smashing damage to use against robots and it's fun to just put your hand in someone's face to blow them 50ft away from you lol. Very Jedi

Mental Blast - I recommend this only if you're going to be playing exclusively at range if you're going to take Subdue, too.

Psi Scream - This is the first of your 2 AoEs in the set. Definitely worth taking.

Drain Psyche - This is pretty much the reason you go with /psi. Potential to be a huge regen buff/debuff and if you can cram enough recharge into you build, it can be perma. Slot for acc/heal/rech as the base recovery buff/debuff is sufficient.

Subdue - For my Mind/Psi, this power is important because it's my only source of immob. Does the same damage as Mental Blast and since Elec/ has an immob you might be better off with Mental Blast for the -rech.

Psi Lance - If you don't stay villain for the Alignment power that refills the dom bar, this power is good for helping you fill it before starting a fight. It is also good for a cheap 7.5% recharge bonuses from the Manticore sniper set. If you are staying villain for the alignment power, you can either skip it or mule it for the recharge.

Psi Shockwave - The #2 reason you go with /psi. This power is a shadow of its former self, but still great at what it does. Take it and love it.

Are you looking for a leveling build or an endgame build?

Any particular powers you absolutely want/don't want?

I think the tanker set would be fine either way. While IB would help you live longer, you could still die and get debuffed. Hibernate is great in that you can get debuffed to hell and back and just nap it off for a few seconds.

However, because of the NoPhase in Hibernate, I would say that IB would be better for the set. If Hibernate didn't have NoPhase, Hibernate would be better, IMO.

EDIT: But on scrappers you can have both and be nigh indestructible lol

Yeah, your hoarfrost slotting is really good. A definite change. I slot this way on my MA/Inv scrapper.

I don't understand the no-recharge thing on Hibernate. It's my main go-to for heal and recovery when things get bad [meaning I'm getting hammered and Hoarfrost is recharging.] I think of it as a phased Rest.

Defense slotting: I'm doing the Red Fortune + LotG7.5 slotting based on what I've read. I've never done that before. It's a 12.5% global rech, but I do love the LotG bonuses. The RF is a cheap test, but takes a respec to get out due to the six slots.

Tough just looks like a mule here. 23% on S/L might help with some super accurate AV or something. I haven't seen that situation yet. I think I might be being a little overzealous about the avoidance of the fighting pool. I'm just seeing the set bonuses come so easy.

Nucleous...I'll have to check the cash on those. I actually prefer my current slotting of Siphon Life, with the four Haymakers [switchable to KC if I needed to] and the two Theft of Essence. Siphon is my main damage after my damage aura. I'm always wary of Hamis, except Centriole, which I actually own a bucketful I'll probably never use.

Why do I care about defense in EA if I'm capped to SLEN? To partially plug that fire hole?

Yeah...I gotta mess with my Soul Drain. Damage is good. And I do fire this alot.

And let me say I'm really pleased that my slotting all lv 27 IOs isn't getting criticized. I've been running a lot of Ouro and initially showing up and seeing my capped tank running at 26 SL is a big shock.
EDIT: HAHA @ me not reading the other posts. Seems like the others covered everything for you.

Yea I understand the whole respec thing with enhancements. Huge pain.

Tough is, more or less, a set mule with the Reactive Armors. Basically with that, CJ, the Steadfast in Permafrost, and FA/GA/Weave slotted the way they are, you're at 42-43% defense to s/l/e/n. To me, that's just so much more efficient that relying solely on IOs to get defense. Tough does add a bit to your survival, though, since it is 'stacking' with the -dmg in CE (and DN for me on my Icer). 23% res + 35% dmg debuff on foes is pretty decent, IMO.

The Cyto in Weave is there because I would be over the rule of 5 on that 4th LotG bonus. Can totally use a random def/end IO, instead.

Getting more defense with EA does help your fire defense, but it is more so a buffer against defense debuffs. You only get ~50% DDR so having that bit of overhead is beneficial when fighting things like Romans or 5th Column. Additionally, it can put you really close to the softcap of incarnate trials, which is 59%

Oh Hibernate - a while back Phase powers were change to grant a temp power on the user called No Phase, which basically prohibits you from using any Phasing power for 120s. 120s is the base recharge of Hibernate and your global recharge is already reducing its recharge by a fair amount. No matter how quickly it recharges, you're only able to use it every 2 minutes. I know, I know. It's dumb

This. Nothing like going to confuse a boss and also getting 1/4 - 1/3 of the spawn confused, too.

Besides, are you going to be playing your dominator in Melee full time?
  24. The defense in EA is underslotted. Doesn't really matter for you until you start running iTrials, though. If you had more defense from EA you'd be able to hit the iSoftcap with Maneuvers up with 10 targets. In addition to that, slotting for more endmod and recharge allows EA to become a sapping tool, which can prevent mobs from using their stronger attacks. Just another layer of mitigation you can utilize but really only works with more recharge.

Considering you don't cap your HP with Hoarfrost up - even with Accolades - I'd say it's underslotted. Perhaps 'horribly' was a bit strong.

My main point was that you didn't have to go about 6 slotting half the build to get defense bonuses. Ice Armor is pretty easy to softcap - needing only 2 different attack sets for ~2.5% defense to s/l/e/n - if you go tough/weave. Since you're adamant about not taking those, then you've done alright with your build.

Minor quibble - Hibernate just needs a common Heal IO. Recharge does absolutely nothing for you because of the NoPhase when you use it.

Here's an Ice/Dm build I made some time ago (I didn't have access to it at the time of my other post).
