    Introducing...

Welcome, Arctic_Sun! I look forward to your first CoH fiction content!
  2. Noooooo! Don't leave us, Gil! After watching Serenity, I've lost enough! I can't lose anyone else right now!

Seriously, though, good luck in your future endevours, Gil.

    Woo! Juan's gone!

Now he won't be able to send lowbie on that "bust 10 vahz for a photo op/article" mission... BWAhahaha

    [/ QUOTE ]

No, Juan is fine. Jackson Turner is gone.
  4. C'mon, you know he's just out on a bender. We'll find him in a ditch in Talos with a bad hangover.

Any chance of Regen getting something like this (resistance to -regen)?

    [/ QUOTE ]

And what exactly is -regen? Like, getting damaged? You want resistance to damage? I think we have that already. :P Yarr.

    I5

I, for one, welcome our new I5 overlords.

I've enjoyed the issue. I enjoyed testing it on the training room and helping to find the bugs and whatnot. While the "looping sound crash" has been a problem for me since it went live, i know a fix is coming in a few days.
  7. Damn, I hope I have enough cash come this October!

    - I mentioned this up above, but change Sonic Attacks back to Sonic Blast.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Agreed, the name needs to change to Sonic Blast. Otherwise it just doesn't fit with the Blaster primaries/Defender secondaries, which are all named blast.
  9. Badges look good, but need to be smaller. They are way too huge as they are now.

I second (or third, or fourth) the idea of datamining for completed TFs for badges. It's been done before, it can be done again. I want my Destroyer of Strength badge.

I can sympathize. I grew up in Fargo, ND and now like about an hour away in Jamestown ND. Anytime I mention that fact, I get the response "I loved the movie Fargo!" Man does that piss me off. First, the movie was filmed mostly in Minnesota about 3 hours from Fargo, and secondly, no we don't talk like that. People from tiny little farming communities have a tendency to speak like that at times, but for the most part we speak pretty normally.

I'm from Idaho. Potato jokes galore.

The Cabal of witches, the nasty imps called Red Caps, the giant Fir Bolg and the legendary Tuatha de Dannan rule this realm.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I have a problem with the "children of Danu" being a villain group. The Fomors I can understand, but I always thought the Tuatha de Dannan were supposed to be "good guys."

    [/ QUOTE ]

The gods of old were rarely what we would consider good guys. While some might not be outright destructive and cruel, most had little care for mortals beyond what they could get out of mankind. Celtic, Greek, Norse, Egyptian...those old gods were a pretty self-centered lot.

That goes doubly so for the Fair Folk. The ancient fae were not the Disney Tinkerbells we think of as "Fairies." They were often more than mischeivious. They were often cruel and malicious. These were the faeries that would lure men to rivers and then drown them for fun. The faeries that stole away babies and replace them with changelings. They were called the "Fair Folk" for a reason, because mortals were afraid of drawing their attention by using their actual names.
  12. And we used to get Scorch and Incinerate in it! :P

My concern is how the base system will support the SMALL supergroup.

My SG is a total of 10 guys. That's it. We're all real-life friends and we want to stay small and tight-knit. I am having serious doubts that we'll be able to compete against the other groups out there with 75 full members.

It seems that the base-raiding system is not geared for small groups or casual gamers. Lord Recluse, can you provide any comment on this?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well, your 10-man SG would need to get an item of power first, which would likely be a chore in itself. I keep foreseeing items of power largely ending up in the hands of the bigger SGs with the massive influence and members to get one and hold onto it. So your SG can probably go raiding to its heart's content, but I don't think protecting your base would often be a problem.

Meh. Sorry, War Witch. It WAS your fault. If you didn't know how to handle that oversized match stick in a hazardous setting you shouldn't have been using it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Heh, not to mention she's a Blaster, and shouldn't have been running around trying to melee everything all the time to begin with.
  15. [ QUOTE ]
My main concern is that my worst fear has been realized. Similar to DC and Marvel, and with no offense intended to anyone, Top Cow basically removed any black character. So with Horus gone, no story arc with the Brawler, CoH comic is now just like the mainstream comics, devoid of anyone of African descent. So while playing the game is great in that it allows for diversity, the same cannot be said of the comic.

While it is free, I'll just be using it for fireplace fodder unless I see some changes...

And for what its worth, I thought the first story arc in the initial comic book held truer to the game.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Geez, overreact much? Just because Top Cow comic hasn't used Back Alley Brawler in the first TWO issues yet doesn't mean they're "removed all black people" from the universe.

In fact, you're wrong. Aurora Borealis is there (in a sense). She's black. We see an image of her at one point and her the echo of her personality constantly bickering in Sister Psyche's head.

    Issue 5 Summary?

Other people have mentioned Red Caps. Red Caps are a mythilogical creature, Norse I think, they were all over "some" island in one of those other MMO's.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Dude, how do you think my Troll Thane made it to level 50? Redcap farming is the r0xx0rZ!!
  17. If ya want 'vampric' powersets, play a dark defender, dark scrapper or a warshade. CoH has enough vampric heroes.

Yeah, I personally think this week's PT was the best ever. I've done James Ellroy one better and deconstruted the written language to its true essence. Pultizer, here I am...

  19. Yes, this week's PT article was right to the point, not too wordy, really showed us everything it had. I'm only sorry it wasn't longer. I read it so fast!
  20. I see. Thanks for letting us know, Gil. Should be a fun set up.

*waits for the nitpickers to start tearing apart Gil's post*
  21. I was looking forward to a new "Beyond Contact" article in the PT this week, but Wednesday has come and gone and nothing. Did we fall behind schedule, Gil? Or was the fiction update on the CoV site supposed to count for this week?
  22. Wow, so like, I don't have to worry about anyone raiding my base while I'm asleep? Perfect! Take that, griefers!
  23. Nice article, Gil...er Jackson!

I hope to see one on some of the Hollows contacts, like Julius the Troll!
