Quote:more IO sets offer larger positional defense bonuses then to S/L.Why positional? Nearly every melee power is S/L and that's where I would tend to be as a brute. However I am out of powers that can effectively add def without skipping lots of recharge. I'm trying to find ways to get closer to the cap.
building for positional defense is only 3 as opposed to the 8 or so damage types.
Some damage types don't get defense set bonuses (toxic)
Quote:However I am out of powers that can effectively add def without skipping lots of recharge. -
Quote:45% is it. if you have over, its wasted defense bonus. if you fall under you are exposed. For example my leveling build had 48.xx% melee defense at one time with a full set of Touch of Deaths. I didn't need the 3% boost to melee def so I sold em off and investing in Crushing impacts and got 5% global recharge, which I lacked in a big way. Stuff like that should be looked into. This is my current build so it did take alot of inf. and farming
. I have been meaning to look at purples esp. Hectatomb but not sure where to slot, I suppose in GFS for big damage. I worried about losing the softcap, would dropping softcap % in range make a big difference you think.
Also wot sort of recharge should I be looking for?
thanks for your help
I just looked at your build. you have some great stuff but way too much defense bonuses.
Why did you six slot stamina?
I don't see why you have hover and fly except for set mule, I'd drop them and replace with SJ take the saved slots and shoot at least one one over to hasten and work on getting it perma. -
Lol, its for fun? shooting for softcapped defense to all positions. Thats about it. This is coming from a SR scrapper point of view, btw. Never touched a stalker and have no clue what the point is. I figured lots of stealth and hit hard?
-
Ok, then it's what BillZ said. I had just zoned out of RWZ and I had just installed the Regenerative. So it showed 27. At least that is cleared up.
-
Its in health.
I have numina's and regenerative procs. still waiting for Miracle. I had just zoned when it hit 27. But shouldn't it still show in the log? my perf shifter is proc'ing like mad but not one message about the health procs. When I look at combat attribs, it does list them as contributing to regen. Its almost like they are not really procs.
Here is my build. I am only missing one LoTG rech and the miracle proc.

Anyone noticing these two procs aren't firing? When I first put my Regenerative proc in I got to 27.xxhp/sec. now I am not moving past 20.89.
I made a special tab to follow my procs and no healing is happing. this is multiple days of watching it.
What gives? -
-
I was over in the red side and playing with Ninjitsu (heard it was buffed SR). Woa, ranged and AoE defense in one power!!! Someone was smoking crack on that power.
So why not wrap Ranged and AoE into one power and then giving SR a heal? Then I could drop Aid other and Aid self and get different powers
kk, Bye. -
Here is my first run BS/Nin build. I have no clue where the defense values actually are but I know they are close.

Ya I figured this out by making a stalker and showing my defense numbers in game. Adding defense to Hide makes sense. The trouble I have in Mid's is showing me only the supressed numbers so I can figure out where I am in relation to soft capping with IOs etc.
-
Who is "they"? They are always mouthing off!!!!
I am having the same issues with DM/Elec scapper. When I built for defense, I didn't like what it did for the overall build.
because DM brings a whole bunch of fun stuff that SS doesn't have I went for max resist and will let recharge and dark tricks keep me up. -
Does Hide suppress once you attack? is the defense numbers cut in half or completely gone? Can you set Mids to show you the numbers when hide is active but you are visible?
-
I Would think with power surge and stamina, you would be ok. especially with enough +rec IO sets.
Post the build you are thinking of. How many attacks are you taking? I don't like the idea of dropping power surge and hasten. LF is a personal choice. I can see either way on a scrapper(must have for a tank though). I ended up taking it because I can get 20damage per tic and have ok set bonus with frankenslotting. Not to mention the end drain on all the baddies sound like fun as well. -
Quote:I was pointing out that when I built for Defense I was able to get around 30% defense to melee and a little lower for ranged/AoE. But I did not like what it did for my overall build. my attack chain was anemic and too slow. The damage output was sub standard, the recharge was horrible(power surge was coming up in like 400s). Don't even get me started with retarded Siphon Life.I hope Silverado and Imaheroe discuss, because that advice was "Give up building for defense" followed immediatly by "Build for defense" and when I see things like that I start getting scared of making a /elec myself.
So my point being: When I built for defense I hated the build.
If I were going to go defense based resistance armor set? no brainer its BS or Kat for capping out Melee Defense with Parry/DA. -
Quote:Ok! hello fellow scrappers. To be quite honest, i am in LOVE with scrappers. Ive tryed other AT's only to take a couple faceplants then trade the concept an costume for a scrapper counterpart! (elec or fire blasters have been changed to elec or fire scrappers ;p)
But anyways, to the point. Ive tryed every type of scrapper primary to atleast 14, EXCEPT for one! Spines. Now i hear spines is actually pretty awsome, an has alot of AoE potential. The problem is i am VERY concept oriented and i just can not happen to come up with a good costume an concept for a spines scrapper.
Now with issue 16 the options have been opened up a little bit, but i am still at a loss. Does anyone have some suggestions, or creative tips, to make a spines scrapper i can love and stick with! thx
Your going to want to take WP for all the recovery and its an easy secondary to play. -
I gave up on building for defense. I felt the build was gimped trying to get enough set bonuses for Defense. So I went with building up enough Smash/lethal defense, again gimped.
I dropped going for defense all together and started to build up Resist/recharge.
What I noticed? The only way to cap all resists is with Power Surge, so I am taking that. I am paired with Dark Melee so I have a heal in the attack chain and my end game build has enough recharge to make hasten only down about 13 seconds and my energize recharging in about 35 seconds. I am happy with what I have here.

This is with no purple sets. If you but 3 purple sets in here with the 10% Recharge, everything just gets better. -
-
But I need more recharge so will go with a dam/rech and heal/rech.
-
I have 2 builds. This first was my leveling build and then hold until I could afford the respec. Which will be the second one posted:

I was given 2xnucleos and I bought 2 Golgis for 5mil each last week. Well on my way to getting my SL slotted. When I am 50....I need to start up on my DM/Elec again
-
Quote:Personally, I think you have enough total accuracy and Recovery. The other option you coud use here is 2 and 2 LoTG/Serendipity for 14% more regen.
Level 28: Heightened Senses -- Ksmt-ToHit+(A), Ksmt-Def/EndRdx(29), GftotA-Def(29), GftotA-Run+(31)
or another LoTG +rech
4 slot red fortune for the +2% damage?
something like that
EDIT: Overall though that looks like a tight build and you are packing some incredible damage. -
Quote:You said everything I tried to say in my DM/ElA Mk II thread. (of course I have gone through 7 different builds in it.)To be honest I think building for defense with /Eletric is a waste. You want to stack up recharge, and mabye smashing/lethal resist. Especially for a DM/Elec. You have heals in siphon life and energize, and you want it up as often as possible. You have regen from energize. You have good resist toggles, if you pick up tough it's not hard to get 60% or so S/L resist. Plus the more recharge you have, the more often you can get soul drain up.
Dark Consumption is overkill. Energize already has an end discount buff built in, and you want it up as much as possible. Power sink will easily cover any other end problems you might have. To be honest, I don't think physical perfection will be needed. Power sink refills your end bar every 20-30 seconds or so. With energize up most of the time, and stamina, it's going to be hard to burn through your end that fast. I guess you could try dropping stamina when you get to high levels. Pick up physical perfection instead, but your really just saving 1 power pick, and I would rather have Swift/hurdle + Health + Stam then x epic + Physical perfection.
Looked at your build a it closer, and it does look pretty tough, but still think you would get more benefit from working on recharge more. And it would be cheaper. You don't have hasten, and I know some people don't like it, but it's really nice. Especially if you can get a good amount of global recharge. For example with your current build, you picked a number of sets that give regen bonuses, but energize is only up a bit more then half the time and the healing isn't capped. If you slotted energize better, to cap out healing and recharge you would end up with close to 200% regen most of the time, and a 45% heal every 35-40 seconds. And that is just from that 1 power. It's a trap i fall into myself, I work on set bonuses, without realizing I could get more from just making sure that normal enchanement values are capped.
Great summation of my thoughts. -
Quote:I have found a few arcs for my 50 to run for tickets. it gets the job done but no where in the time I was able to pre-I16. I was capping tickets in about 12 - 15min a run.In the last days of AE..../sigh
When I still had tickets thats how I made my money. There are actually a few good rares that can pop up in that 10-14 bronze range, the karma -KB and also one of the regen unique's. I've sold quite a few of all of them back when I had the tickets. -
Quote:oooooo tricky!!!!! I LIKE IT!I can do you one better than that, roll in the 10-14 bronze and you'll get that Steadfast unique quicker. There are fewer recipes in that lowest group so your chances of getting either the Steadfast Unique or Steadfast -KB are greater. And if your current level is 30+, once you win it out of the 10-14 grouping, it'll automatically be a level 30 recipe.
